It's after 7pm on a weekday with one couple eating at a table. There's one couple ordering and another person ahead of me. There's one employee serving and another focused soley on frying the chips. I thought, sure, they have to make it because they're running out. Nope. The server goes to the back and grabs another full box of chips as the one she is using gets low. So the person ahead of me and I continue to wait. Now a third employee comes from the back and goes straight to the fryer and starts looking at the fryer, talking about the chips. The person ahead of me orders two bowls with the server. As she was paying I thought, I'm almost there, I can get outta there soon! The woman pays and the server goes to the back and never returns. You couldn't make my order before you leave or take a break? I'm the last person in line. Another few minutes goes by before the third employee stops pretending to fix the fryer and asks for my order. Queso and chips. "That's it. You don't want a bowl?" The restaurant itself is a bit outdated and some booths have visible damage. The dining room is large enough that we have plenty of additional seating to choose from and we never need to sit in a damaged booth. Never any issues with the food or cleanliness at this location. read more

Wow, is this Moe's bad. We went on a weeknight at prime dinner time and only one table was full. I stood staring at this kid behind the counter for a full 30 seconds to a minute waiting for him to look up to take my order while he just sat texting on his phone. There were three other people behind the counter working that saw us standing there and didn't acknowledge our presence either and just kept sweeping or cleaning. The kid finally looks up and begrudgingly says "I'll take it." He literally looks so miserable and side note, never changed his gloves to handle food after playing on his phone. Gross. I get a stack, but realized he never asked what meat I wanted so I asked if he added chicken, he says yes and I get charged for chicken. I cut the stack in half, of course no chicken. I go back up to tell the worker that I didn't get chicken, could she put it in a side dish for me while the other employees are, you guessed it, on their phone. The chips were ridiculously stale and soda machine was flat and tasteless. After the initial impression I would have probably left without anything but it was for a school fundraiser, so everyone else ordered too and I just took one for the team. Next time, I don't care what my kid's school is fundraising for, I'm not going to that place. When you're across the street from Monte alban and chipotle is a couple miles away you should make more than the bare minimum of efforts. read more

I used to come to Moe's all the time, but I had a horrible experience with the Webster one, so I rarely go anymore. I had never been to this location before, and I tried to go in one of the front doors, and strangely walked right into what looked like a janitor's closet. I'm not sure why this door wasn't locked, and I looked at it again afterwards thinking I must have opened the wrong door, and there was no sign on it or anything to indicate that you shouldn't use that door. Very strange. Once I found another door and was actually in the restaurant, it was a pretty typical Moe's experience. It was an off time, so I was the only one there. I'm a huge Moe's fan! This location is convenient both for work and home. The facility is always clean and the service is always friendly. They could do a better job addressing the snow/ice on the sidewalk though. And during the summer, they AC is a bit too cold. I always get the Earmuffs (burrito bowl) with chicken. Get the cilantro lime rice and don't forget all the veggies (peppers, onions, mushrooms, cucumbers). And one of the employees who had some curtosy came out close to closing time when I waited for 5 minutes outside in the cold to inform me that manager of the the restaurant wanted it to be closed early as there were not many customers at that time. We have been to this Moe's several times, and it's always great. I LOVE that they have a tofu option, and you can also choose to use quinoa. How awesome sauce is that? I will start by saying my family loves Moe's-we frequent the Webster location often. Since this Penfield location has opened we have gone in probably 6 or more times. Each visit we always notice how many of the tables are filthy, booth seats as well. I think the management should take note. This location isn't as clean as Webster's and Victor's. Still-nope,it's been over 6 months since we've been back. Coke machine out of 1/2 the selections. I want to start off by saying that I did not experience the sewage smell during my visit. It must have been fixed by the time I visited. Like any other moes, I was greeted with "welcome to moes!". I showed up around 11:30 this past Tuesday, before the lunch crowd. I ordered the usual, half steak, half ground beef, white tortilla with sour cream, lettuce, guac, cheese and cucumber. The burrito was great, the chips were like any other moes. The restaurant was new, clean and inviting. The futuristic drink machine was working (other reviews stated it wasn't working). I love moes and was excited they opened one by my house, but this location is subpar... employees all seemed bored and miserable. I brought a friend who had never been to a moes and he thought it was horrible. Asked the kid behind the counter a couple questions about the food and he just rolled his eyes and shrugged. He didn't know what the stuff was he was serving.... The food reflected the employees lack of interest. Cold and dry.. we couldn't get Soda since the kid trying to load it couldn't figure out how it worked. First time at Moe's. It wasn't too bad. I ordered a cheese and chicken quesadilla and another cheese and chicken quesadilla with fresh jalapeños and onions. The quesadillas were really good, I could only eat half. They put a LOT of cheese in it. My husband ordered a burrito and he said it was good. I'm a fan of Moes as a chain, but I can't in good faith continue to pay for sub-par food prepared by employees who are so stoned that they cannot reasonably function. The sewage smell as others have mentioned is a real thing and the place is kept at a freezing 60 degrees. You're safer heading to Chipotle. read more

Just returned from the Penfield Road Moe's Southwest Grill. Don't ask me why I keep going back but I do wishing and hoping it's all what I wanted it to be. Unfortunately, it's been two years that I have periodically returned to enjoy the place but tonight showed me that won't happen...probably never. The place was a mess and I mean a mess. The service was fine but you could barely walk on the floors because they were so wet and full of food and liquids that you worried about slipping when you went up to refill your glass or whatever. Yellow hazard signs indicating wet areas were never addressed for clean up for the 45 minutes that I was there. No one attempted to clean the tables or the debris off the floors. Once we left, all of the employees were huddled behind the counter checking out their cell phones. I have never seen anything like this anywhere in 2019 or in Rochester, NY. Not my first visit to a Moe's...being a new location I expected some hiccups but the whole experience was really just okay. Rice wasn't cooked correctly, they screwed up part of the order, queso was cold, no ice for drinks and the staff seemed confused throughout the order. I have had Moe's several times and have been quite pleased. I must say that for a new location that it was terrible service and food. The only thing that they got right was the welcome to Moe's when I arrived. Their were at least 8 employees behind the counter and not a one had a clue as to what was going on. When I got home about 4 miles at most my food was cold not cool , cold like just taken out of the refrigerator. I did call to complain but fell upon deaf ears! I typically am not a complainer but the food and service sucked. As a franchise owner I would think that you would want to make a great first time impression. The food sucked and so does the service. First off my wife and I love Moe's and we're happy one was built closer to us. The employees making the food were arguing the entire time. The one making burritos wasn't wearing any head gear. They didn't know the menu and what came with your meal. Love love love Moes! The chips and salsa I can have all day everyday. Was welcomed by "welcome to Moes", I'm sure they get tired of saying that all day. Ahh. Employess looked happy and seemed upbeat. Yes there were televisions but not all on the same dang ass channels. Also music was playing but not too loud where you can't hear your thoughts in your head. Restrooms were clean and stocked. Food was average Moes. Place is freezing cold. Annoying thing is that there is no guest Wi-Fi how can you operate a restaurant or Cafe these days in this century without offering your guest Wi-Fi. What is so great about this place? I've heard it mentioned many times so I'm just assuming it's very popular. We went to their Penfield location the other day and the food was horrible. The actual restaurant is very nice....Very clean, very well air-conditioned, with a very accommodating staff. There were about six people ahead of us in line and it moved very very quickly. As far as the food goes, I would have left a zero stars if it was offered as an option! This place has to understand that when someone likes beans on their taco, they do not want big hard beans. They offer two different kinds of beans that are whole and hard, they do not offer refried beans which is what most people like. I ordered mine with "steak" on it as well. The meat was tough, and was way way too processed and salty. I also ordered fried onions on it and the onions were strong and not thoroughly cooked which left them too crunchy. The way the soft tacos are served is very awkward as well. They wrap them in tinfoil so by time you open them to eat them they are sloppy and soggy. I had no appetite after my first bite. I think the place has potential, but they really need to change how their fixings are cooked. read more
