Old Pueblo Grill Cantina was a solid experience overall. We're originally from Southern California and eat Mexican food often, and this was definitely better than many of the Mexican restaurants we've tried since moving to the Rochester area. The flavors were good and the food was well prepared, which we appreciated. I ordered two tacos and was asked if I wanted rice and beans. In SoCal, that typically comes standard with the plate, so I said yes without thinking twice. It wasn't a big issue, but I would've appreciated being told there was an upcharge before it was added. Transparency like that goes a long way. That aside, the food was enjoyable and the restaurant stands out compared to others in the area. With a little more clarity on add-ons, it would be an even better experience. read more

The drink special says only available at the bar but they will honor it at your table. The menu is a little short but they have the basic Mexican dishes. The amount of food was on the larger size which was good. The red salsa caught me by surprise because it was actually a little spicy. Normally restaurant salsa is not. I went there with my family for dinner and it was great! When we walked in they seated us right away. It took them about 15 minutes to bring us our water but they were also busy. I got the Baja Shrimp Tacos and they were very filling! They had multiple vegan and vegetarian options. Our waitress was very nice! We are huge fans of Old Pueblo Grill downtown, so we have been anxiously awaiting its opening here in Webster for what seemed like forever. We started with salsa, guacamole, and queso with our chips. The salsas were both spectacular. Guacamole was super dreamy. The queso, however, was odd and something no one in our party enjoyed. We do love the queso downtown, which is what we were expecting but did not receive. Switching to entrees, we were very excited to see Enchiladas Montadas -- stacked enchiladas as we've eaten in southern New Mexico. We found the red sauce one to be really great. The green sauce version was very tasty, though the sauce had broken and/or seized up. Our additional companion ordered Enchiladas Suiza with green sauce. Again, the green sauce had good flavor but was not good consistency and they didn't end up finishing their meal. We are still giving the review a 4 star because this could be some bumps in a new opening. We will definitely return. We will definitely try the green sauce again, however, we will be avoiding the queso. read more

I went to the Victor, NY location and recall not being blown away by the food, however, I thought I'd give it a shot with full service experience. We started with chips and salsa and the birria eggrolls. As others have said, the salsas are great. The birria eggrolls were amazing. The eggroll is a great vessel for birria. Great flavor, texture, and presentation. I ordered the "Cali Swag" burrito. The overall flavor was great, however, the carne asada was a little fatty and the fries were kinda soggy but it was still an enjoyable item. My companion ordered a carnitas taco, carne asada taco, and the elote for an entree. She had the same complaints about the carne asada being fatty. But the carnitas were spectacular. Really flavorful and tender. The elote had good flavor but the corn was overcooked and lacked good texture. Service was a bit slow, but I don't blame my server for this as, as far as I can tell, she was also the primary bartender. The restaurant is a bit noisy and they played a weird mix of NBC Nightly News and World Whiffle Ball Championships but it also kinda worked so I can't knock it. This is a new place so growing pains are expected and I will certainly come back to try it again! read more

My husband and I went here yesterday not realizing it was the cantina version of the Old Pueblo Grill we had already been to. Originally I was disappointed because that's what I was expecting. That quickly turned around. The server was very sweet and offered great recommendations. I went with the Birria tacos she suggested. They were amazing! If they were open for breakfast right now I'd be going back for them now. They had a nice crisp to them on the outside while being tender and moist on the inside. I can't wait to go back for the tacos. My husband got a quesadilla which he said was good but he would get the birria tacos next time as well. Interior decor was a lot of fun too. There's a huge food truck when you walk in and vibrant colorful murals on every wall. Overall 10/10 we will be going back. read more

I've been here now twice and their food has not disappointed either time. The Queso Fondito goes great as an app and the Birria tacos are so delicious. Our server was so nice and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. It's really well set up and decorated too. Oh and the margaritas were a hit. My friends and I tried each flavor. Got there early on Friday and had wonderful service from Nicole. Ordered enchiladas and they were good but only warm. Like my food hotter than how they came. Nice atmosphere inside but kind of loud with the acoustics. Overall good experience and we'd go back again. read more

Used to eat at the original location downtown and have been really looking forward to the opening in Webster. Our experience was mixed, at best. First, be prepared for the noise. So typical of many restaurants, I'm afraid. Now to the food... chips were a bit salty, but good. The salsa verde was very good and the salsa Rojas (smooth) was nice and a bit spicier. Also ordered the queso. Never again. Strange color and viscosity, it honestly looked a bit like the nacho "cheese" from a can that you'd get from a ballpark, though not as appealing, if you can imagine. Saw other reviewers who warned about it, but I had to see for myself. They can definitely do better. We had a light appetite, so shared Shrimp Dorado, which were the strangest tacos we've ever had. Chopped shrimp in an overly deep fried flour tortilla (menu did not specify flour) with a bit of the red salsa drizzled on and topped with shredded cabbage for garnish. No real flavor or personality. Would not order again. Classic margaritas were good. Service was actually pretty good, given that they were quite busy. Based on our good memory of the food downtown and the notion that it takes awhile to work out the kinks, we will give them another shot and order different things next time. Really want to like this place. Webster needs some more good restaurants! read more
