We've not been to Tavos in awhile but it's always been a fav and I always highly recommend it to my friends who agree. Tonite was different despite our lovely waitress, Emily. The good news is that the guacamole continues to be the best in town and the queso fundito with chorizo was excellent. For me it stops there. My go-to dish , Vallarta al Mojo, had an overpowering garlic sauce unlike the previous soft rendition. So disappointing though the husband loved it. I also enjoy the non- alcoholic margaritas but tonite it was hard to come by one that did not taste heavily of alcohol. The house team insisted it was peppers but ..... there you have it.

We spontaneously decided to try this place out after going to the gym and it was a wonderful experience. I love how colorful and decorated the interior is. There's also a cute outdoor seating area where you can choose to sit under a shaded tent area on wooden benches or be exposed to the sun. Service was good and we were seated within a few minutes. I ordered the enchilada salsa verde and it was very delicious. Just the right amount of spice (since I can't tolerate spicy food in general, I know I'm a weaksauce). It came with rice and beans on the side. The serving size was perfect where I didn't feel stuffed afterwards. The menu is double sided and has a bunch of authentic dishes. I really wish they had elote on their menu! Definitely will come back and try other items!

From the minute we stepped in the door I could tell it was going to be amazing! The atmosphere was relaxed. Perfectly busy for a Friday night! No sticky film on the tables. Our waiter Austin, was great!! He catered to our needs, and even offered to take our picture after dinner! The food was so fresh and delicious, exceptional guacamole and fresh tacos!! The drinks were delicious as well!! Will definitely be returning!!

As a Mexican-American, this is the best Mexican food I've ever had in NY, and possibly my life! (Outside of my mom's kitchen!) The service was great, it was a bit of wait for our food but it was absolutely worth it. You can tell how much care goes into the food, the quality, everything. I ordered the red pozole and it was delicious (and spicy so ask before you order about spice level maybe?) but it felt like home. My partner ordered the combo with the tostadas and one chalupa and he was STUFFED. We cleaned our plates! Truly amazing restaurant and perhaps one of the best meals I've ever had. Can't wait to come back to Rochester and come back.

The food was amazing! My husband said it was the best quesabirria tacos he's had. I also NEED to know what the recipe is for the guacamole. The service was fantastic, we loved our server Jessica specifically. She was extremely nice and we had no issues whatsoever. Overall, a fantastic place!

    Street Corn appetizer... wonderful!

Been back a number of times since my original review... and it has only gotten better... most exciting news was they had Pazole, and it was fantastic. So thrilled, means that I no longer have to drive to Canandaigua when I am craving green or red Pazole. Great service, busy place, but was not overwhelming. I know that they are also now doing some special cultural events, and a drag queen brunch! I gotta get out more often!

Food is colorful and textures are good, but the spice (or lack of spice) leaves something to be desired. Birria tacos were the best thing we ordered from our meal. The three routine tacos were lack luster. The loaded elote dip was colorful, fresh, but the corn was too sweet, not enough spice, not enough cheese, and overall not enough kick. The margarita made with mezcal and the Paloma were decent. Overall a cute neighborhood joint but nothing to pilgrimage to.

The Tres Leche cake was to DIE FOR! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because 1. My aunt's enchiladas were sloppy (we ordered the same thing and mine came out completely different) 2. We were almost charged two different prices for our same chicken enchilada dish My boyfriend loved his taco trio I will come back to try something different and sit out on the sidewalk patio! The ambiance was fun and vibrant. The service was prompt for a day of the week lunchtime

I spend too much money here. This is the first and only upgrade I've ever made. I'd give the service a 10 if I could.

The bartenders working that evening were so friendly and informative! It really added to our experience to sit and chat with friendly staff who could talk us through our choices since we were basically completely new to NA cocktails. I tried The Pear Necessities, which was very bright, full, and fruity. My fiance tried the Dark Crystal, which has NA mezcal and bitters -- he really enjoyed it but those flavors are super overwhelming for me, but that just goes to show they have something for everyone flavor profile-wise. We were also super curious about the different types of NA spirits, so we talked to the bartenders about the differences in "functional" spirits, like nootropics and adaptogens. We were offered a few small samples of some of the lions mane derived spirits, which prompted us to buy a few small bottles off their shelf selection to take home. Which, speaking of bottles, they had plenty to choose from. I also loved that AltBar had such a full and engaging event calendar. I'm keeping an eye on their social media pages for their updates for March, it seems like such a great community gathering space and Rochester is fortunate to have this business added to our landscape.

They also have a surprisingly large food menu, but we just had cocktails and dessert. Drinks were just OK, but the desserts were great! Definitely recommend the chocolate raspberry cake. My only critique is that the table arrangement is setup more like a restaurant than a lounge and the decor is a bit random. If they made it feel a bit more loungey, I think it would improve the overall vibe.

I was visiting my friend for the weekend and she never stopped talking about all the great reviews…read morethey received and she'd been wanting to go so of course we had to add this to my visit. There was street parking available in front of the restaurant and on either side of the street. When we walked in the first thing I noticed was the decor. Everything was beautifully decorated and so welcoming. The bar was to the right and the host stand a little further up. I didn't get a picture when we walked in but there was the cutest orange stand and a sign with an arrow pointing to the host stand. They had live music that night and it was pretty busy. Once we were seated we did wait for some time before someone came to greet us but the person that sat us did bring us water. When someone came over they were very apologetic for the wait and let us know there may be a little delay with the food but was very proactive with making drink recommendations and took our food order before leaving the table. Our drinks were delicious! I got the coconut lime margarita and it was so flavorful. My friend got the espresso martini and she said it was so good. We enjoyed the music while we waited and all of the waitresses would check on us anytime they walked by. We ordered a second round of drinks and I got the pistachio martini and my friend got the crème brûlée martini and both were great. I really like this restaurant because they offer small plates so my friend and I picked a few we both wanted to try. We got the stuffed gnocchi flight, arancini classico, and ahi tuna martini. All 3 were 10/10 on the taste scale. My favorite of the gnocchi flight is the one with pesto. The arancini was so tasty and the sauce that came with them was a perfect pairing. The cilantro crema on the ahi tuna martini was the star of the dish. Overall, this was an incredible dining experience and I'd love to come again to try some items from their dessert menu and on a night with no live music.

If you have not yet tried Leonora's, do yourself a favor and go! I think it's one of the best…read morerestaurants in Rochester. The food is some of the most inventive, with completely unexpected combinations that absolutely delight. Every single ingredient they use is super high-quality and has a very distinctive place in the dish. We've been here three times and I've never once gotten a dish that felt like it didn't know what it was trying to be. Dish after dish comes out and you just can't believe how good everything is. We ordered additional plates two more times because we couldn't get enough of their incredible flavors. The tuna crudo is melt-in-your-mouth, the shrimp in the appetizer are voluptuously sweet and snappy, the beef curry is a must, and don't pass up the lime leaf cocktail peanuts. Cocktails are fantastic and just as inventive. It is a bit pricey, and portions are smaller (something I personally appreciate from the Swan family restaurants), sort of tapas like, so we reserve for special occasions, but it's certainly brings it for us when we are looking for that. I will say that, while it is great for two or three people having an intimate shared dinner, I can see how it could be difficult for a larger party because you could run up a pretty high bill, but everyone could still feel hungry at the end. So that may be something to consider. The ambience inside is so warm and inviting, but we never feel like we're without privacy. They've given a lot of thought to how they spaced the tables, and seat their guests so you can feel like you're in a popular spot, but still have a quiet conversation.
