Hmm, this dilemma of having to choose a rating between four or five stars is a good one to have. It means that businesses are doing a great job and Mogie's is one of them. We went there for veggie burgers on our long drive back to the Twin Cities. They do things our favorite way: you can get most styles with your choice of four patties, and one of them veggie, for a custom experience. The veggie one is a Gardenburger, not as cool as a home made one, which tempted me to drop a star. However, given what they are, a bar and grill, expectations should be tempered. For what they do, it is top notch. Service was wonderful. It was clean and low-key inside. Food was very good all around. We had the jerk style and Cajun style burgers. The jerk was very mild and had some intriguing spice in it that I really liked (cloves or nutmeg?). (Contrary to popular belief, the jerk is not named after me.) The Cajun was mild, but more spicy. The pub fries that we added to one were decent and the side salad upgrade with the other really hit the spot. The star of the show was the Buffalo chips appetizer: perfectly prepared crisps with light drizzle of sauce and bleu cheese. Less is more and they nailed it! Since we were driving and felt weary already, we didn't try their good selection of tap beers. I don't know if they have the best burgers in town, but we would come back for sure! read more

Every time I come here, I end up ordering the same appetizer, the "Spuds o' Plenty", and I am never disappointed. Most of the burgers are fairly standard, and they have a tendency in the kitchen to overcook their burgers. I've had more than one hockey puck that I have had to send back. 20 years ago, these folks were on the cutting edge of gourmet burgers in town, but I'm afraid they've been bypassed by many newer burger joints in the area, and they have done little, if anything, to update their menu. read more

My all-time favorite bar/restaurant on Water Street. Hasn't changed much in 20 years, why fix if not broken? The copious tap-beer selection, generously portioned made-to-order burgers (COWBOY is amazing), and SPUDS 'O PLENTY dipped into either ketchup or silver springs Jalapeño Mustard if you're adventurous, are just the start. Generally on-point service, sports on the ample TVs always, and a fun and casual atmosphere combine to make my perennial favorite. Just wish they were open 7 days a week! The food was greasy, and the onion rings were burnt beyond belief. Very disappointing meal.

On the plus side, Mogies has delicious burgers, with lots of tasty options for fixins. I like the Jamaican and the Garcia, personally. The burgers are gourmet but reasonably priced. If you fancy a burger, you won't be disappointed. On the other hand, Mogies isn't really a great pub or a great restaurant. As a pub, it's a little sterile and doesn't have much character. And it's on a street with far better (and far worse, of course). As a restaurant, if you don't fancy a burger then the menu is sorely lacking in other options (and is especially limited for vegetarians), their wraps are uninspired and the non-burger sandwiches taste like their made by someone who thinks that if you wanted flavor, you would have ordered a burger. Plus you're eating in a booth in a bar. read more

The staff here is really great and friendly, unlike the Irish bar down the street. The home made Bloody Mary with Absolute peppar is fantastic! We also had a Ceasar's BLT Wrap and Jacks Chicken Sandwich. No need for fries, as the wrap/sandwich was huge. I would go here again. PS, the bloody mary w/ Absolute was $3.50! I popped into Mogies for dinner after hearing about it from a friend who attended UWEC a few years back. I ordered up their well known Garcia burger which is a 1/2 lb cajun-seasoned patty with guacamole, salsa and sour cream and their pub fries. The burger was seasoned very well in the Cajun spice, the bark of the meat was very charred and spicy, a real treat! The salsa was equally delicious. 7.5/10 The pub fries were just your standard bar fry, nothing to write home about. 5/10 We also tried the spuds o' plenty. These little guys are large tater tots filled with cheese served with a side of ranch. Pretty good, a little something different you won't find elsewhere. 6.5/10 The vibe in Mogies is a good one. A very nice relaxed atmosphere. A great place for a burger, glass of wine or a tasty micro-brew on tap on a sunny afternoon or into the evening during the big game. I'd certainly recommend it to a friend if he or she were in Eau Claire. read more

I highly recommend their Garcia burger. It has guacamole, sour cream, and salsa on it. The burger was perfectly cooked and the bun was quite good too. They have a pretty good craft beer list and I recommend getting a beer called "Dirty Bastard" (which is what I got). It was very rich and dark, and it was 8.5% ABV according to my beer app. Their jalapeño cheese curds are good too. The service was great, our food came quickly and correct. Their atmosphere was nice too, with warm lighting and interesting decor. Mogie's also has WiFi which is awesome, and they get bonus points for having their WiFi password clearly listed on the back of the menu. Overall I had a great time and recommend Mogie's. read more

3 things I love about Mogies: 1. The cowboy burger. Bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce on top of a juicy burger. One of my favorite burgers in town. 2. the SPUD O'PLENTY!! I don't know how to explain them.. 3.5 Stars. This is the first time I ate a meal in Eau Claire since I graduated in 1997 a year after this place opened. First of all EC is still dirt cheap. 1/2 lb burger, onion rings, and 2 beers for $15! Burger was good cooked medium as requested and onion rings were spot on. Lots of burger varieties and I saw a lot of orders of cheese curds going out to the many busy tables. My bar when at UWEC was the Camaraderie (burned down) but this place has potential. Only downside was for having 15 taps they did not have a single IPA which was a bit surprising. Overall good selection of craft beer and some craft spirits as well just keep an IPA on tap! read more

Great food, great service. However, the patio chairs leave something to be desired. They don't encourage you stay, they encourage you to come and go. They're metal backing and lack of supportive arm rest don't pair well with the welcoming environment provided by the friendly service. If you came to Mogie's after a day in sun and had sunburnt back, the cheese grater of a backing would peel away your sunburn. No sunlight on the back patio reminds me of days spent laying under a tree, trying to escape the hot summer sun. Would encourage a rooftop patio location. But the knee knee to floor ratio is what leads me to give this a 4/5 stars. read more

Great bar on Water Street if you want a place to sit, want your drinks made with brand name liquor (although slightly more expensive), and you don't want to yell to talk to the person next to you. Good music but not blaringly loud. Great drinks made well! As for food, only had the cheese curds which were good, especially for a snack whiling drinking. read more

I love this bar. What I really like about Mogie's is that fries aren't included in meals. This is really good because I don't always want them. So therefore the prices are more than reasonable, it has a simple menu, and pretty good tap beer too. I ordered the Po' Boy Shrimp wrap, which consisted of fried shrimp, lettuce, tomato, Cajun spice, and some sort of sauce wrapped in a wheat wrap. It also included a pickle. The sandwich was delicious. I am a huge fan of shrimp, so I was pretty excited to see a Water Street bar carry it on their menu. I had my sandwich with a bottled Carona. With two beers, one on tap, and a sandwich the total was about $13.00. I'll definitely be back. read more

Saturday girls lunch, so excited to be together! Got last booth... a few people at the bar. Waitress came 10 minutes later. Got a tap. Never saw her again. Went up to the bar to order a drink for late arrival. No bar tender! Wait staff was cooking for their tables!! huh?? Waited 10 minutes at bar no acknowledgement. Others coming up to bar for tabs. After another 5 had to go stand right next to kitchen to get service. By that point cashed out myself and went down the street. Felt very sorry for waitstaff....an impossible task! Two Hearted on tap... very good. We had the jalapeño curds and they were as good as any in the area. Really salty and tasty. I loved the cheeseburger cheeseburger.... that was the kicker, so simple and delicious. You can taste that they flame-broiled the patties(normally I don't care for it, but in this establishment, I loved it) and it was quite good. I never give reviews, but after coming here I decided to do my first. We were in town for a festival and stopped here for lunch. They were really busy but provided awesome service. The staff worked together like a well-oiled machine. The food was really good pub food. Wisconsin cheese curds = awesome. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy Wrap and really liked it. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Bacon and thought it was the best he had in a long time. I would return if we come to town again! read more

Very relaxed environment, can actually talk to the person next to you without straining your vocal chords, and the bartenders are usually very nice and talkative.
