Mojave WIFI is the BEST Internet available in the Morongo Basin! I was referred by my neighbor after a complete fiasco with the only other option in the area and as it turned out I am very happy to have ended up with Mojave! First and foremost, the office staff was very helpful and got me an appointment set up immediately... Which I couldn't make and had to cancel and called back over a year later to reschedule. Not a problem, they found me another appointment and set it up for the very next day! (Not sure that this is always the case but it worked out for me!) They sent me a list of everything I needed to know and some directions on the equipment that I needed to provide for them and I was off and shopping! The router and proper surge protector were easy to find at the local WalMart. I was given a window of 8-10am on a Saturday and at 8:10 the installer was at my front gate! Ed, the installer, was competent in his job and within about 20 minutes we knew that we were going to be able to complete the install It took a few minutes to sign waivers and set up the ladder, but once he climbed up on the roof with the test equip we it was fairly shortly there after we were ready to proceed! The installation is clean and the Ed was through about the necessary steps to restart the equipment if I need to move anything around. 45 minutes later Ed was done and on his way! I like the fact that this is a "No Contract" carrier so that if I want to increase my bandwidth at any time all I need to do is place a call and they can upgrade you for a month at a time! I will definately refer others to Mojave WiFi! read more

I live in an area where internet lines haven't yet been run. Trying to get reliable internet proved challenging until a friend recommended Mojave WiFi. I had two expensive, disastrous experiences with other companies, one of which had me on hold for over an hour when I reached out to can el service. When I called Mojave WiFi, the phone was answered by a local woman who was friendly, professional, and ready to help me. The installer was on time and showed the same friendliness and professionalism as the woman in the office. They asked me to buy a router, which I got for $50 at Walmart. Earthlink charged $16 permi th for their router, so I'll be saving money by having my own in just a few months. So far, the internet works great. I spend a lot of time on the computer or streaming TV and there hasn't been any issue with the signal. I highly recommend this company and its kind people. read more

I wish 10 stars was an option!! Locally owned - providing FAST internet speeds to the desert communities - I am so thankful that I found out about this company. They were able to provide me internet that could keep up with my very demanding job that required super fast upload speeds! I was so so thankful that I could support such a wonderful company. I looked at my other option when considering my internet provider (zillionaire owner rhymes with Pee-on Dusk) but they lacked the stability, customer service (good luck talking to a human lol) and care that I was looking for. I have very high standards and Mojave Wifi is THE BEST. Crystal and Lisa are both so friendly and incredible at their jobs and all the technicians are also very friendly and professional and just overall great! The folks at Mojave Wi-Fi were pioneers in this remote corner of the Mojave Desert. They brought the first reliable, affordable, and civic-minded internet to this area. I read another review saying they are too expensive, but I have found they're either the same price or less than the competition. In addition, they are local, reachable and service-oriented. Mojave Wi-Fi has been providing free service to a half dozen non-profit community associations in the area not for weeks or months but for years and years. Mojave WiFi is the best WiFi you can get on the Mesa! I've tried HughesNet and they were the worst on the Mesa! Frontier I hear is pretty bad too only because my neighbor has it and hates it! I've been with Mojave WiFi for 5 years now, and won't change due to they work the best on the Mesa! Plus I'd rather pay for my equipment and have smaller monthly bills! Hughnet cost 130 a month steep for myself, plus will force a 2 year contract promising you all and after 1 day you'll regret it! I'm glad I kept my Mojave's WiFi while trying out hughnet, otherwise I would have screwed my internet up! Now I have to pay hughnet 300 for equipment and 100 for install because breach of contract! At least when you pay up front for you equipment at Mojave's WiFi, you can cancel anytime, which you'll regret if you do! Ed was awesome and did a great job installing everything setting me up for higher package(which I wanted, 4 gamers in this house!). Crystal and Justin helped troubleshot what I needed to get into high brackett! And if you take. Photo with them you get to save 5 dollars which when i called it to go up on my package, Natasha reminded me of my 5 dollars off and got a 5 dollar sage on my first upgrade! Overall as long as I'm living on the Mesa, I will always stay with Mojave WiFi! If you can waste 5 dollars a day at Starbucks, you should be able to afford your equipment! We used Mojave WiFi for four years and felt like the service was generally pretty good, until it wasn't. We lost service at some point and arranged for a service call at which point the technician advised that the chip inside the dish had failed. When the office called they said that in order to continue service I would need to pay for a new dish and chip at my expense. My contract stated that the customer is responsible for equipment inside the house and I brought that to the attention of the representative on the phone, she said it was not cost effective for the company to replace equipment outside the house even though the "point of connect" was where the cable was plugged into the router (their modem as well). I pointed out that in the four years that I had been a customer my monthly service payments would have paid for the burned out chip may times over, to which she said the owner does not care about customer retention and that the only way to restore service was for me to pay for another service call and bear the cost of equipment replacement. To this day I use my cell phone solely for internet because there is no other service available where I live. Too bad they aren't following a better business model, I'd still be using them. read more

It's as good as it's gets! Want to give five stars but they need improvement getting four because the service is reliable truly the best you can find. My only two complaints are; 1) Call customer service, Felicia, makes you feel like your bothering her by calling and thought I caught her on a bad day nope it's fairly consistent; 2). Use to be able to buy the equipment at a higher price than the lease but you save overtime obviously but they did away with that to only lease where they only extend a warranty of the equipment for six months. I have multiple accounts, close to a dozen of them and overall the service is fantastic!! They have some customer service items to clean up with in-office personal. I have recently set up my service on a property which was previously serviced by Mojave Wi-Fi. The seller let us know the house had Mojave and, when I called them, Lisa and her tech team were on-hand throughout the call until I was completely set-up and online. Thoughtful, considerate and generous with her knowledge, Lisa was really helpful and a pleasure to work with. Options for a "vacation hold" were more than welcome. Our house has been connected to Mojave Wifi for 5-6 years. In that time I have found it is like a Charles Dickens novel.... It has been the best of times and it has been the worst of times. When it works.... it is good as it gets. But when it doesn't, you play hell trying to get any kind of customer service. Down times can be long and frustrating if you are working from home. If I could get FIOS or even dsl I would drop Mojave wifi in a heart beat. But the chances of that happening are slim. Hughes net is not an option... way to limited and way to expensive. Like I said above, I do a lot of work from home. So I must muddle through life getting less than dependable service if I want to stay connected. read more

When we first had this installed a few years back (maybe 5?), it was great. We were paying about $30 a month and it was fast with very few interruptions. Then about 2 years ago, we were forced to buy a new dish and the service went downhill from there. Then, we went up a service tier earlier this year. And now, we pay twice as much for less WiFi connectivity. It's slow, buffers with just about everything, and now for the last 3 nights, there is no WiFi AT ALL once 8 pm hits. This is supposed to be a new upgraded dish and better speed WiFi and it's the crappiest service yet! As you can probably tell, I'm being generous with the stars for the rating. It's best when used early in the morning - about 8 am, but who's really using it at that time? No one in my house, that's for sure. Even typing this out in my phone, I have to use my cell data since there's no WiFi!! If you decide to go with this "service", good luck, but don't hold your breath....you'll end up passing out. And in case, you want to post a bad review on their Facebook page, don't bother. I tried that first, but any negative posts have been deleted and there's no real way to review them. read more

Horrible! I tried to reschedule my appointment the day before and they wanted to charge $29.00 to reschedule, what a rip off. Their installment fee's and rental/lease charges are higher than any other provider. I was going to be a long term customer, I guess they didn't want my business. Glad I didn't go forward with the install afterall, only out $29 bucks, and now I heard the internet speed in my area is slow and spotty. read more

When we moved from LA to JT, I didn't give much thought to internet service. Having lived in big cities all my life, it never even occurred to me that finding a broadband provider might be a challenge in Joshua Tree. After all, this is California, not Mississippi. Our friends in nearby Yucca Valley were able to choose from DSL and cable; surely things would be no different in JT? Let's just say that I was not a happy camper when I found out neither cable nor DSL were happening in our newly acquired abode. The only options, it seemed, were dialup (NOT really an option) or satellite internet with its high prices, high latency and low usage caps. I was kicking myself for not looking into the broadband situation before buying our house when I learned there was another option: Mojave WiFi. We called them up immediately and made an appointment. Now, coming from LA, we're used to super fast, cheap broadband service with free installation. Out here, we learned, things are a bit different. In fact, Pat warned us that their speeds were nothing like what we were used to. Fortunately, we're not speed freaks. Sure, blazing fast speeds are nice but they're not an absolute necessity for us. We were actually more concerned about reliability. The cost of installation was a bit of a shock. We paid nearly $300 for our basic two-computer installation and antenna, but everything was explained ahead of time so we knew what to expect. And satellite internet installation would have cost about the same. Because Pat said we could always upgrade over the phone without additional fees or appointments, we decided to start with the Basic Package which was then $24.95 (now $29.95 for new subscribers) and seemed like the best value. Advertised download speed is 1 megabit (so 125 KB/s) but it's actually closer to 180 KB/s, so that's pretty cool. I like companies that deliver more than they promise! All packages come with unlimited bandwidth and there are no long-term contracts to sign. They say they don't have one of those annoying "Fair Access" policies and they really don't. Some months I'm downloading up to a dozen 1+ GB multimedia files for my business in addition to our usual internet use and they have never complained or throttled our speed. The Basic Package is fast enough to stream video content as long as the file sizes are small (no HD content obviously). We also use it for VoIP though there is a noticeable lag when talking to someone on the phone. We should probably upgrade to the Premium Package but that would literally double our monthly cost from $25 to $50, which is a bit hard to justify given that we're using our internet connection primarily for web surfing, email and Twitter. We don't use VoIP that much and we don't mind allowing videos with bigger file sizes to start downloading for 5-10 minutes before we start watching so there's no annoying buffering. Also: The speed of the Premium Package is still just 2 megabits. Mojave WiFi promises 99% uptime which I'd say is pretty accurate. They've been our internet provider just over 1 1/2 years now and during that time I recall only two 5+ hour outages. Both occurred in the early AM and we had to wait until 9 or 10 in the morning before our internet was working again. On one of these occasions I was planning to pull an all-nighter which required internet access so that was rather frustrating. Mostly though, outages are resolved within an hour or two. They seem to occur mainly after thunderstorms and the like, though not nearly as frequently as with satellite internet. Customer service is great. They're very helpful and always willing to answer questions either by phone or email. When no one is at the office after business hours, you can leave a message and ask for a callback. Rating Mojave WiFi is a bit difficult because while I'm incredibly grateful we found them, they obviously can't compare to LA broadband providers, nor do they compare particularly well to the cable internet packages available to our friends in Yucca Valley. If I recall correctly, they're paying $35 for 12-15 Mbps download speeds. By contrast, Mojave WiFi's 12 Mbps package (currently their fastest) would cost you $130/month -- plus almost $300 for installation. Yikes! On the other hand, when I compare Mojave WiFi to satellite internet, they come out looking fantabulous, and I think that's the fairer comparison. Because it's not like anyone able to get cable internet in their home is going to go with WiFi instead. So I'm going to give them 4 stars. If speeds improve (especially for the lower tier packages -- $50 for 2 Mbps and $70 for 3 Mbps is just too much) and/or prices come down, I'll update this review to give them 5 stars. read more

SUPPER HAPPY! Let me help clarify somthing for everyone. This is a PRIVATE OFFICE. The office is NOT open to the public. You can easly get ahold of them by calling the office during open hours. Note that there might be a waiting list due to high demand. That just shows how great of service they have compared to others out here. Plus its a local business!!! :) I myself have Mojave Wifi. I live wayyyyy out in the desert on miles of dirt roads and had little to no problems at all. Every once in a blue moon it will go through maintenance witch can result in slow internet for a little while, but thats to be expected and isnt a big deal to me. I have to say... I'm impressed! Its supper fast, I can connect to multiple devices without it being slow and i can even go outside and still get signal! I'm very happy with my Wifi and would definitely recommend them. Ohh! And another plus is that you dont have to deal with all these strings attached or bundles/packages like the big corporations make you do. You can just get the wifi if you want. The service call could not have been easier. I have been with MojaveWifi since they went into business and I have received nothing but outstanding service. Started off great, though major problems in past year with many outages - just today we have lost internet over 30 times and no response from technical. This is frustrating. For sure, it's rural. For sure, internet is usually on. For sure we would like to get faster internet, though we can't get anything close to their fastest package ( though have been told upgrades will happen - and that was 9 months ago). Internet often slows dramatically after 3pm, sometimes speed is ok in the evening. We really don't expect the fastest internet in the world though most people seem to get over 50mbs (all my friends get over 120mbs) so to get more than a couple of mbs would be fantastic. I do wish mojave wifi would give us the option of faster speeds. I do appreciate that mojave wifi do try to keep the internet service running, and normally help with any technical issues . Bottom line. Do I use mojave wifi? Yes. Would I recommend them? Yes. Would I like them to provide better service? Yes. read more

Very unreliable. Be ready to deal with regular drops in connection, poor customer service, and high prices. I appreciate the fact that they offer some kind of service for individuals way out in the boonies, but I encourage them to institute much more competitive service and pricing. It's only a matter of time before Spectrum and similar corporations come and sweep out all subpar competition. I want to support local small businesses, but it's difficult when the surge in relative price is topped with poor service and communication with customers. i had mojave wifi service on auto pay for i travel frequently and live in los angeles. i have been away from my joshua tree property for over 1 year and just now returning. upon my return i had no wifi so i called mojave wifi to let them know that my wifi was not working and that ive been paying for a service that i don't have. they looked up my account and told me that they disconnected my service but never told me that they did.. ??? when i called them they told me that i had an deliquent account. i then asked how it could be deliquent if they were the ones that do the accounting and have my card on file. they said that my credit card had expired but it is an atm debit card so im certain that this is not true?? i then asked them why they had not contacted me to let me know and they said that they don't use phones nor do they have the capability to generate a paper bill or notice?? i then asked how i was suppose to know this for i was away for over a year and then said they had sent an email.. ( i said that i had not received an email for it probably went straight to spam??) and they said that was my problem... and i then explanined that it was their problem for they had an unpaid account and i still had their equipment. i then told them that i wished to pay the $49.00 and reinstate my account and they said that they had now decided to collect my equipment and that i couldn't reinstatte??? my bill..it is only $49.00... what kind of awful unprofessional business practices are these..??? i paid them alot of money for all the equipment and now because of their incompentence and mismanagement they are refusing to let me pay a bill that is on automatic pay... really twisted and not very smart... the service has been off for over a year and they just now remembered that i have equipment..only because i called them to reinstate and pay the bill??? if they had just called me or followed up with an email and asked to confirm receipt they might have been paid every month automatically for over a year.. but instead they now want to lose the $49.00 that they say i owe??? and why did they leave a service on if the c.c. had expired and not just call and ask for new expiration date.. they instead wish to pay an employee to drive back and forth to the a house that is gated without arranging a time to try and retreive equipment that i paid a lot of money for and think i legally own??? .... so they will just keep buring more resources by sending employees back and forth until they time until they maybe get lucky... and find me at the house??? the owner is not the sharpest business man.. i think this company will be bankrupt soon.. and who leaves a bill unpaid for over a year and doesn't ever try to contact the person to get paid and who carlessly also leave equimpment without trying to retreive it.. really bad incompetent people read more

Very frustrating they have zero customer service the young lady that works in the office is very nice when you can get ahold of her but calls are rarely returned and no one is ever in the office we pay $70 a month but buffering is almost non-existent is very very very frustrating if you work out of your home. Honestly it's an OK service if you're only sending an email or two but I would not recommend if you have a family or work out of your home or depend on you Internet. I want to love this little company I always root for the little guys and if I had my chance between them and a big provider I would pick them because I believe in keeping business within your community but I can't find anything good to say about it right now service has been down for two days and nothing no customer service no updates nothing. read more

Where I live, getting internet service (or any other modern day service) can be challenging. Cable and telephone lines don't reach me. For internet, we used to use satellite, and it was horrible. We are a gaming household (COD, MW, WoW, etc). About 3 1/2 years ago, we found Mojave Wifi and purchased their medium package ($45.95 for 2 mb of download), and it was great! Seldom have we ever had outages, but the few that we have experienced, the problem was fixed quickly. I also love that there's no contract and unlimited usage; this was NOT the case with the satellite internet that we once had. We have since also got rid of our satellite TV and opted for Netflix; works great! Buffering is at a mininum. Granted, this isn't cable internet speed (oh, how I miss those...lol), but for being out in the vast desert, this is GREAT service! And the staff has always been very wonderful, courteous, and expedient. I have recommended their service to many people, and I plan on keeping their service for many more years to come. :-) UPDATE 8/4/18: I'm still a very happy Mojavewifi customer nearly 10 years later! :-) read more

Mojave Wifi is better than nothing,, or Hughes net. But barely. Now and then there are good days when I don't get disconnected very often, then there are many many bad days when I get cut off numerous times a day. I don't have a clue as to why, since the weather does not always seem to be the problem. I pay for the $70 package yet I very often have major problems downloading large files. I sometimes have to try multiple times to download a one gig file. I believe the record is seven attempts, then I see the ever so common failure message. VERY frustrating indeed.. About a year ago, one of the techs came out and installed the so called, better radio, but I still have major signal failure issues. I am definitely looking forward to someday getting what I am paying for, or, a more reliable service provider. read more

Wow...the other reviews were great...I so wish my experience was the same....initally, the product was great...actually, it is still ok...but I am not very computer/internet knowledgable...and every time ....and I mean EVERYTIME....I needed help and called...I was told that a service tech would need to come out...and the prices for that service...were WAY beyond anything I could afford. When I said it was pretty simple...and if someone could just talk to me...and give me some direction...(since I could not afford the service charge)....I was politely dismissed....it just happened again. Sorry can't even give these people a star. Terrible service. Down half the time. Show up for connection with incomplete contracts excepting you to sign. My son signed the contract at the time of installation so the account was in his name. I own the home and paid the bill but they would only allow me to be authorized on the account.
