We had such a surprise, pleasant visit to Moka this past weekend. We were just driving past the retreat center on our way from maple syrup tasting to Honsdale, and saw the sign for Moka. I had no idea what to expect. Was it a factory? A cafe? Turns out...it is both! AND, not just coffee, but chocolate as well, two of my most favorite foods. We had excellent service from our barista, who offered us samples of the 100% dark chocolate (my favorite, I eat it wrapped in dates), and other. We ordered a decaf cappuccino and a spiced Mexican cocoa. Both were delicious. We did a self-guided tour and that was awesome. We purchased the decaf coffee beans and the 100% dark chocolate to take home. The peaceful ambiance of the inside was only made more intense when we walked outside and saw the row of gigantic pine trees overlooking the beautiful Pocono Mountains. read more

This place is unique & an experience in & of itself. The ambiance is laid-back, yet the staff was energetic, informative, friendly, & helpful. Samples of the different drink types/coffees, types & origins of chocolates, & ice cream flavors are in plentiful abundance. Such a fun place to lounge and learn! Baristas are always knowledgable and nice. I'm addicted to their home made chocolate chip cookies which are perfect with your coffee of choice. So fun to pick out chocolate bars from the huge variety (I love the quinoa and amazing VANiLLA of all things!). Been here several times and can't wait to come by again. Our tour of Moka was both fascinating and informative. we learned about the process of the cacao beans from harvest to chocolate. Moka does it all (after they receive the bean pods from growers elsewhere). we tasted many different countries' chocolate. I fell in love with the Tanzania flavor. They also receive and in-house roast coffee from different locals. I did not taste any of these. in all, it is very impressive to see and experience their gourmet wares. read more

The good- The coffee beans I purchased were good. Not sure if I would but again as the place was out of the way and there are other roasters closer to me. It was also best to be able to walk through the chocolate factory. The bad - the cup of coffee I purchased tasted like brown paper towel water. Might just be an issue with the barista who prepped the coffee but not sure. It was in drinkable. However the espresso my friend purchased was good. Overall a mixed bag. Happy to try it but not sure if I would go back as it's out of the way. read more

First, you end up learning an incredible origin story, then you taste some unbelievably delicious chocolate, and finish by becoming a huge supporter of the business and a monthly subscriber to receive goodies all year long. You have to check out their website and read about the background of this company. There is true purpose behind their mission. They have created jobs, planted and harvested crops for local communities in Africa, and sourced the absolute best beans to produce a quality product. The chocolate is rich and flavorful. I've only tried one of their coffees so far (the Ethiopian) and I really enjoyed it. The chocolate it's a bit expensive @$10 per bar, but it tastes really smooth and the flavors are good. Not too sweet but you taste the chocolate for sure. Drinks are great, they do not sweeten it for you, but there is an area of to the side with syrup and sugar plus powdered vanilla and cinnamon if you want a lil extra flavor. They offer chocolate tastings and my favorite is the vanilla white chocolate and the 56% dark chocolate. read more

I have been a big fan for 2 years and we like the Pocono blend and their chocolates. However, they need to get their service act together. We went there at 10am on a Saturday and had about $120 worth of coffee and chocolate and went to checkout and found the ONE person working there was doing an animated tour with a small group of how they make their Coffee. Meanwhile two other small groups including us were looking to buy coffee and snacks and were waiting and see a sign saying the cashier will be back in 30 minutes when they finish doing a "tour". Really Why not have a second person that can check people out that want to buy your stuff if you want to have one of them do tours. Unbelievable. We put back all of the product and left and the other two groups were looking pretty incredulous also and were thinking about giving up also. We ended up going to the IGA in Hawley afterwards and guess what.. They carry Moka chocolate and coffee also for $4 less a pound. I did not mind paying more and going out of my way in the past to go to the Moka Origins store with the ability to buy more selection but treat your clients with some respect and let them buy your product and if you want to do tours also only do it when you have an extra person, not let your customers wait for half an hour or worse give up on you. read more

We stopped by today on a Friday afternoon and was pleasantly greeted by Chris who invited us in to look around. A few other people came in behind us and he graciously not only gave us a tour but provided three different samples of chocolate and a pot of coffee. The lemon ginger chocolate and the cherry were unbelievably good. The coffee...omg best I've ever drank. I usually am a cream, sugar, flavorings kind of coffee drinker but had my second sample Black with just sugar and it was amazing! As we walked in today, Jeff met my wife and me with a very pleasant and welcoming smile. He told us the tale of his amazing journey of what led to Moka Origins. My wife and I were in awe! After which we were given a tour through the facility. We met Raj, an amazing man with an amazing and welcoming personality! He continued the tale of Moka where Jeff left off. We were given samples of their various chocolates... Where our taste buds were in overdrive with pleasure! Then, Raj gave us a sample of their espresso. Which was a rich, bold and flavorful coffee that, in my humble opinion, has no equal! At this point, Marco comes out and joined the conversation. Marko is the (master) roaster which is tasked with an amazing responsibility... To which he does not disappoint! Speaking with the members of Moka Origins, my wife and I realized a very important thing... Everyone there loves what they do and it shows (tastefully) in their products! We purchased several of their products and made a decision that Moka Origins will now be the official coffee of our home! We definitely recommend Moka Origins to everyone looking for excellent quality coffee as well as fine quality and delicious chocolate! The absolute BEST chocolate! All of the flavors are amazing, but my favorite ones are Toffee Almond and Sea Salt. Sweet enough without being too sweet. And I LOVE the coffee, too! But if you love tea, you must try the Cocoa Tea. Delicious!
