Dr. R first visit after my one month surgery.
Debbie Q.

This review is long over due! How can I forget to give a shout out to my awesome neurologist, Dr. Moksha Ranasinghe and her staffs. Lower back problems returned and I had a very difficult time walking, standing, sitting, and laying down... total pain. Had a laminectomy L4 on 2016 sadly to say as the year progressed and aging comes with it, the problem came back with a vengeance. Checked in at ER, MRI performed, pain meds given and prescribed and referred back to my primary care to sending me to a neurologist which I checked out who this specialist is and met with her. She studied my history and we worked on a plan... physical therapy. PT was no longer helping. She explained treatment (pros and cons) versus surgery. I chose surgery and trusted her with my life because I still want to enjoy the best quality of living. She did laminectomy on my L4 ( she had to work in this section again because there was so much scarring from the last surgery), Laminectomy on my L5 and spinal fusion S1-L5, 6 screws and 2 rods. The surgery was a success and now in recovery. I am still under her care (physical Theraphy and 9 months of osteogenesis bone stimulator treatment) until she releases me making sure everything is well. Dr. Moksha Ranasinghe has expertise in treating spinal fusion, neck pain and spine problems, among other conditions. Kudos to her office staff who makes sure that my schedule appointments are followed and all the referred visits that Dr. Renanasinghe requires of my needs are done and met. Note: Please be patient when you visit with her... busy, Because she's the doctor you interact with and not a PA! She's the best! Thank you Dr. Renansinghe, her Hollywood Presbyterian surgical team, Irene and Viv (Montebello office staff) .... you all rock!!!!

After the surgery: incision (gray patch), drain tube, white patch for pain.

My mom was in pain for months due to the sciatic nerve, tried everything from heat/cold therapy, physical therapy, patches, meds, herbs, and pain got worst, day and night. Finally got referred to Dr. Ranasinghe and the day of the appointment, we almost couldn't make it due to the excruciating pain my mom had on her leg. Doctor mentioned two options but my mom thought surgery was the most effective one. My mom is 79 yrs old and we had some fear of the surgery and anesthesia but thank God, the doctor explained everything and she made us trust her. Her knowledge, professionalism, caring of patients, acting fast, and just being there for us made my mom smile and be pain free again. That day, she told me "if you drive your mom to emergency right now, at Hollywood Presbyterian, tell them I sent you, I can do the surgery if she is cleared by Monday". Her appt. Was Thursday. She knew what she was saying. Hospital staff and stay was amazing, her office staff is awesome because they care for you just like her. We went to her office today to check for stitches and everyone was so nice to us. It has been a blessing having her and her great team help my mom. May God bless you, Dr. Ranasinghe and give you all that you need to keep helping patients with their spine surgeries and needs.

Post op 7 months now…read more I had been trying to establish post op care with a in network bariatric surgeon but it was such a big headache. I asked to get my labs checked and they couldn't even get that right. I reached out to Dr. Doraiswamy after 3 failed attempts. I explained the situation and he quickly got back to me to say not to worry, he will order labs and schedule a phone follow up to review labs. Same day, I got my telehealth appointment scheduled and labs emailed. I went to quest that weekend and got the done in preparation for my call the next week after Easter. Dr. D asked how I have been doing and reviewed the labs. B was a bit high so he recommended reducing to every other day. Vitamin A low but may choose to supplement in diet or via over the counter vitamin. We set some achievable goals with bumping up my exercise to focus on type and duration. I have another follow up call in 4 months. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. D. I am doing well 7 months post op/45 lbs down. Eating has normalized (my new norm). Occasional nausea which he explained to avoid drinking with meals. This will cause that weird funnel overflowing effect which will cause nausea. No other side effects that I have noted. This has been a very comfortable journey thus far. He has been a stellar surgeon before and after surgery. I am so happy I can still follow up with him throughout my journey to a healthier me. If you are contemplating any weight loss surgery, I continue to highly recommend Dr. D. He is the best! Also, special thanks to the office staff for being responsive and efficient with scheduling.

I took my 88-year-old uncle here on multiple occasions to have cataracts removed from both eyes…read more Overall, the staff at Med-Laser Surgical Center, which appears to be closely affiliated with DLP Eye Group, were generally courteous and professional. The process itself, however, feels like navigating a bureaucracy. After check-in at DLP comes a long wait, a brief vision test, another wait in a second room, a second test, and yet another delay before finally seeing the doctor--usually for no more than five minutes. Even scheduling the next appointment involves more waiting. It all feels more like an assembly line than patient-centered care. Then there is the DLP "care coordinator," Selena ("Seli"). Perhaps she's overworked, but she came across as curt and indifferent, showing little empathy for patients' time or health challenges. My uncle is hard of hearing, and despite asking her to slow down and speak up, he struggled to understand her. Equally concerning is the near-impossibility of reaching anyone at either facility. Calls go unanswered, voicemails are ignored, and hold times seem endless. I had a simple billing question--regarding a statement for something I believed was already paid--and still haven't received a response. These communication failures, coupled with a lack of basic courtesy from certain staff, reflect a deeper problem in healthcare today. Patients and families deserve responsiveness and respect, not indifference disguised as efficiency. Doctors and their teams must do much better.

Sorry in advance, for a negative review…read more I had undergone a Vitrectomy surgery at Med-Laser back in July 2025. And, this was perhaps - the most unpleasant experience I've had. Recently, due to my retinal detachment, I had multiple surgeries (at other facilities, including an additional Cataract surgery). By far, the Med-Laser Surgical Center experience was the worst. An outdated, unwelcoming, gloomy, cold (both literally and figuratively) facility, to begin with. Reminds more of a warehouse more than a surgery center. Staff was courteous and working hard (Thank you for that!) However, one major oversight, if not lack of care, -- was that they did not bother connecting an IV machine, even though that's one of the first things they're supposed to do when a patient arrives. Mind you, patients are typically dehydrated - since no drinking (not even a sip of water!) is allowed 8+ hours prior to surgery. Again, at other surgery facilities they immediately connected an IV machine to supply much needed liquids into the patient's body. But not at this "Med-Laser" facility. Lack of care? Or lack of experience? They ignored all my pleas and requests, just responded "Don't worry..." The surgery itself was delayed by almost 2 hours. Waited and waited... (while being dehydrated, mind you). Finally, upon completion of the surgery, the staff (including my operating doctor - who demonstrated negligence... but that's a whole separate story) did not turn me face-down in time, -- which resulted the silicone oil leaking into the front part of my eye, -- causing further complications. Again, I've asked the surgical assistants multiple times about the *IMMEDIATELY REQUIRED* face-down position, but they just said "Don't worry...". (and my doctor left, without even checking up on me). To this day, I am suffering due to this crucial mistake, as well as the overall lousy surgery done. Will have to undergo another surgery to remove the oil from the anterior chamber of the eye and to fix other mistakes made during this latest procedure. Risks will be involved... but I have no other choice. I do not recommend this facility. Thank you for reading my review.
