First, they have a Nurse practitioner and also Dr. Ho who my dad saw probably twice the ten times he went to visit this office. The first day we went to the office, we had brought all the medicine my dad was taking. But I told the NP that he still had enough medicine so they did not need to refill it right away and that if we needed a refill we could have the pharamacy contact the doctor's office and she said, okay sounds good. By the time my dad needed to get a refill. The pharmacy contacted me telling me that the Doctor's office would not respond to them. Okay no problem, I called the Doctor's Office. They told me that they would check for me and have the doctor send it in later. Except, by the next day there was no refill. The doctor's office never sent the prescription. Okay. Let me call again. Now they want my dad to go in. New Doctor's office, maybe they missed something. We brought all my dad's medicine again just in case. A couple weeks later. My dad needed a refill on a different medication. But the pharmacist said that the doctor's office denied the refill. I call the doctor's office again. Okay, they will refill it. Next day. No refill. Okay. Let me call again. At this point, they always say that they will see what's going on and call me back. But they NEVER do. I have to call back the next day. I am patient with them because I know how hectic it can be at a doctor's office. But I always have to re-explain that my dad needs refills. That I called the day before and that they are rejecting the requests to refill, there is absolutely no communication here. This happens almost every two months since we started going in the beginning of the year! The last couple of visits was what got me so upset. They once again denied a refill. So I called the office to ask them if he could get a refill. They said sure. Benefit of the doubt. Next day? No refill. Surprise? My dad at this point was feeling dizzy and his blood pressure was unsteady. At this point my dad was running low on three medications. I brought him to the office where they rudely asked us why we were there. I told her that he needs a refill for a medication. She told us that we needed to make an appointment for that because they don't do walk ins for that. So I asked her then what is my dad suppose to do? He doesn't have any more medicine. So finally she tells me she will look into it for me. She asks me for the medications name but abruptly cuts me off. She tells me "it says you still have refills for this medication" Me - "okay but the pharmacist is telling me that there is no refill. I wouldn't be doing here if he had his medicine and if you guys aren't communicating with them" Nurse - "Okay, let me print it for you" She hands me the prescription.. for the wrong medicine.. Me - "This isn't the right medication. Can I show you on the app where it also tells you that you guys denied the request for refill?" So when she prints out the prescription and she comes around to me and puts the paper to my face aggressively pointing. Nurse - "See you still have more refills until - oh it says you have no more refills.. That's weird let me find out what happened for you." As if that wasn't what I was trying to have them figure out this whole time.. So she flags the NP and they talk for a couple minutes and then she comes up to me and she says "Okay we'll send it to the pharmacist for you" But I asked her what about the two other medications? She tells me, "We didn't prescribe those to you. We don't have it on file" What the h*ll is going on in this office. We literally came in here at least twice to have them document our medication. So whatever I make an appointment to get a refill for his other meds. Everything should be good now right? WRONG. Not even a month later, they deny a refill for the same prescription. Why?!??! I call them again and they tell me that we have to go in again but it hasn't even been a month since his last appointment? They said the doctor wants to see him to talk about this xray and blood work that he did a a couple months ago. When we went to the appointment three weeks ago. We already got the results for the blood work. The xray was talked about MONTHS ago. What is the need for us to come in again?! So they told us they would handle it. But NOPE. We had to go AGAIN. When we finally saw the NP for our appointment she told us "you know you can just call for a refill right?" I. WISH. WE. COULD. I didn't say anything to her because I had already decided to find another office but due to insurance since he already visited the doctor that month I couldn't immediately change. Seriously. What is going on in this office. Can't even handle a simple refill. Avoid this doctor's office at all cost.

A week later, someone from their office called me and asked me to come in so i can discuss my blood results with a doctor. They also gave me the option to do this over the phone and SURPRISE!!!! THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME ANOTHER COPAY!!!! At my old PCP, they did not charge me a second copay for discussing my results. if you don't want to be nickeled and dimed for everything, then i suggest you look for another doctor's office. But i would say the doctor's here are actually very nice. They do listen to your concerns and i did not feel rushed during my appointment.

Over that time, my blood work and treatment results were generally positive, and from a clinical standpoint things were going well. That said, there were a few issues that became frustrating over time. Even when visits were only to review routine lab results, Dr. Ho refused to do phone or virtual appointments. I often waited 30+ minutes in the lobby, drove through traffic both ways, and then had a 10-15 minute conversation that easily could have been handled remotely. The bigger problem came recently when my insurance changed from UnitedHealthcare to Cigna after more than seven years. I proactively called the office to update my information and was told they do not accept Cigna. No real explanation was given beyond "we're not set up with them." I then offered to pay cash and handle reimbursement myself through my insurance, which would have required no extra work from their office. That was also declined, simply because I technically have insurance -- insurance they don't accept. At that point it became clear the office no longer wanted me as a patient. For someone in the middle of long-term treatment, this was extremely frustrating and disruptive. Between the rigid appointment policies and the refusal to work with either my new insurance or a self-pay option, I've decided to find a new primary care doctor. Very disappointing experience after being a loyal patient for two years.

After my original primary care doctor opted out of the medical group associated with my insurance, I decided to find a new PCP. I chose Dr. Ho based on many positive reviews and was hopeful I'd receive attentive and thoughtful care. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. I scheduled my annual checkup, and the appointment was relatively easy to make--easier than with my previous doctor. During the visit, Dr. Ho took time to go over my family medical history and current concerns, spending nearly an hour explaining various medical terms. While thorough, it felt more like he was showcasing his medical knowledge rather than truly listening or showing empathy. I mentioned a specific concern--a small lump near my uterus--and requested an ultrasound. Dr. Ho dismissed it at first, saying if there were a tumor or cyst, I would not be able to feel it clearly from my skin. Thankfully, he still agreed to send me for an ultrasound and gave me a referral to an OBGYN for further evaluation. However, things quickly went downhill from there. The ultrasound referral had my last name spelled incorrectly. I'm still unsure whether that error came from Dr. Ho's office or the medical group. I also never received the referral letter to the OBGYN. When I called the office multiple times to follow up, the front desk staff was impatient and quick to blame the medical group for the name mix-up and the missing referral. I contacted the medical group myself--they corrected my name but told me Dr. Ho's office never submitted the OBGYN referral. I decided to move forward with the ultrasound anyway. That's when things got even more frustrating. The ultrasound technician informed me the referral was only for an abdominal ultrasound, not a pelvic/uterine one. As a non-native English speaker, I had assumed the referral covered the area I was concerned about. Instead, I ended up with a scan of everything except what I asked for. When I called Dr. Ho's office to clarify, the staff insisted that the abdominal ultrasound was "sufficient" and told me to speak to the OBGYN about uterine concerns--again, the referral I never got. After more back and forth, they said they'd resubmit the referral. Two weeks later, I still hadn't received anything, but I was able to get the referral number from the medical group. When I finally tried to book an appointment with the OBGYN, their office told me the referral was only for a pap smear, not for evaluating my actual concerns. On the same day, Dr. Ho's office called to discuss my ultrasound results. I asked again about the proper referral, and the front desk staff responded dismissively, saying it was the OBGYN's responsibility now--or that I should just come in to talk to Dr. Ho again. At this point, I'd had enough. I shouldn't have to fight this hard for basic coordination of care. I don't feel heard, cared for, or respected--not by Dr. Ho, and certainly not by his staff. I've decided to switch primary doctors. No one should have to chase down referrals, correct clerical mistakes themselves, or beg for appropriate testing--especially when it comes to something as important as your reproductive health.

They are all so helpful and easy to work with and open to listening to all of your concerns, and they will address it by running the labs or diagnostics needed to address those concerns. This is something I really love and respect a lot about their facility because there are a lot of other facilities out there that brush off patient concerns as "just worried" and then don't order any follow up labs or referrals for those patient concerns, but here they will listen to your concerns and treat the patients concerns with respect and follow up on it. On top of that it is a breeze to get an appointment here and the out-of-insurance pay or insurance copay are all very reasonable and affordable compared to big facilities that take weeks or months to get seen that charge an arm and a leg in comparison. Yesterday I went back again for an appointment and once again Anthony was awesome and super helpful and Jenna was so patient with all of my questions and concerns and I loved that she had no hesitation in looking further into or addressing all of them (ie lab requests, referrals, prescriptions, etc). Because of this I will want to make more frequent visits because they make it all so much easier and pleasant and enjoyable to stay on top of my concerns for my health :) thank you to Dr Phan and his wonderful team, he knows how to pick a great bunch :)

I did have HMO when I switched over to Pathways & was able to see Dr. Kwong at this office. They don't take PPO, only HMO, unless you're an established patient & only updated/switched insurance. Dr. Kwong is the best! I've been seeing him for years. He's always willing to listen, patient, and caring. I've never felt like I was rushed or like he's in a hurry to leave and see other patients. He's always willing to help & quick with referrals & sending out prescriptions. I've never had any issue with that or staff. Michelle is amazing. I've been going through some health issues and she's my go to for whatever I need. If I need to get through to Dr. Kwong I always ask for her. Everyone is helpful and professional, but Michelle knows and has all my info on what I'm going through. Even after all those calls I've made....I've never had or felt like she was in a hurry to get my off the phone or like she didn't want to help. Jerry & Maya are also nice and helpful. Thank you all for being so nice, caring, and helpful.
