Molihua is a great addition to Houston's sushi scene. We loved that the menu had multiple vegetarian options all labeled with a nice (v) to make it easy to decide what to get. The service was exceptional and ambiance was upscale. The booths located along the walls of the restaurant have additional lighting on them but the tables were very dimly lit. We let our server know that we are vegetarian and she helped explain the menu. We tried all of the vegetarian items except the shishito peppers karage which they were out of. Overall everything was delicious and we liked the unique options that were available for vegetarians. Edamame - tasty appetizer that comes with a unique spicy sauce Kyoto miso - this soup comes in a cup instead of a bowl and should be drunken instead of eaten. Great flavor Burgundy truffle - This dish wasn't labeled as vegetarian but was one of our favorites! A crispy truffle with a unique stuffing inside. Seaweed garden salad - This was just a regular garden salad, if you're looking for more unique dishes would skip this. Potato and egg sando - This dish also wasn't labeled as vegetarian on the menu. This is a potato egg sandwich on milk bread, which was tasty but the milk bread tasted dry crunchy kakiage - The crunch flavor of the sushi made the dish unique asparagus katsu - also tasty but less of a unique taste than the kakiage vegetable and mushroom tempura - came with onion, lotus root, and asparagus wild mushroom and black truffle rice - definitely the best item we tried! Very flavorful rice, would definitely recommend trying this one Grilled vegetable - this is actually just grilled broccolini I wish there was a better parking option. We read a few reviews that said valet was just as expensive as self-parking ($25!!), so we parked in the nearby MD Anderson garage and just walked over.

This place is designed to be a nice date night spot - most things come in two, so eating here with a family or an odd number may get tricky at times. I thought the food was alright considering the price. As some other people have mentioned, there are other places in Houston with a similar vibe, price, but have better food. I personally think a similar place that does it better is Uchi/Uchiko. While I feel like there isn't a whole lot about Molihua that stands out, I did really enjoy the Chicken Wing Mochi Karaage - it's tender, tasty, and unique. The Pumpkin Puffs also deserve a unique shoutout. I personally wouldn't recommend the Molihua Grilled Duck and Rice. It's basically really expensive fried rice, and I couldn't even locate any significant pieces of duck. And while tasty, the Chicken Yakitori was on the drier side. The interior is upscale, dimly lit, and clean. Service is good with fresh, hot towels served at the beginning of the meal. Molihua is located on the 2nd floor of Blossom Hotel - most people either valet or self park. Restaurant does not validate.

Dined in on a Saturday at 6:45 pm for a party of two and was seated immediately by the sushi bar. It's a very dark restaurant, not much lighting, needs more decorations. We enjoyed everything we ordered! The chefs know what they are doing! We ordered: Hamachi crudo: hamachi melted in our mouths, and the blueberries on top was a nice touch versus jalapeño slices! Crispy temaki salmon tartare: least favorite dish, beds more umami Crispy truffle puff: very soft mochi balls! The truffle flavor could have been stronger Chicken wing mochi karaage: this was so good, presentation could be better, it comes in a brown togo box, a nice round hybrid bowl plate could work better Otoro: buttery goodness and it was on top of ice so it was super chilled Unagi: kind of dry but good flavors Naruto: itty bitty four pieces of goodness XO hand pulled noodles: our favorite dish! Noodles were so soft and chewy! Chilean sea bass: very good flavors Garlic butter shoyo fried rice: the best garlic rice we've had! Coconut sago: needs more sweetness, and it was a tad too thick Chocolate and salted caramel cake: the cake was very dry

Overall enjoyed coming here! It feels like a speakeasy since it's hidden in a hotel and it looks like a completely different vibe inside the restaurant. The ambiance and decor is beautiful! The service was also attentive, friendly and good. The food was tasty as well. We ordered an assortment of food, including various nigiri, apps like chicken wings and tuna with truffle, and shrimp with xo sauce and hand pulled noodles. All were delicious! Keep in mind that it is valet but the restaurant validated parking!

Vibe: Modern elegant w/ traditional Chinese influences…read moreOverall Food Quality: Excellent Overall Price Range: about $17-$29 (meat), $22-$25 (seafood), $30+ (premium/specialty) Overall Customer Service: Excellent Recommend: Yes Fung's Kitchen offers Cantonese and Hong Kong-style cuisine in a spacious, modern dining room that still maintains an elegant traditional Chinese character. The warm golden lighting, chandeliers, white-tablecloth tables, red upholstered chairs, decorative woodwork, and striking red-and-gold dragon and phoenix centerpiece give the restaurant an upscale banquet-hall feel. Even when packed with diners, the restaurant feels lively and welcoming rather than overly formal. There are about six private spacious rooms which are great for events, birthdays, and/or social gatherings. There's also plenty of parking, which is a big plus. The menu is extensive, and most of what we ordered was excellent. Lobster Mountain -- $168 | 9/10 (based on food quality & portion size relative to pricing) Definitely the showstopper of the meal. Six lobsters are stacked into an impressive, highly photogenic "mountain," accompanied by fries and a crispy dome-shaped taro creation underneath. The lobster meat was tender and juicy, while the crispy exterior was loaded with flavorful garlic and jalapeño. It's an eyeful when it arrives at the table and tastes almost as impressive as it looks. Considering you receive six meaty lobsters plus the extras underneath, it's well worth the price for our party of six adults and three kids. Whole Peking Duck -- $58 | 4/10 Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The skin was crispy and the meat tender, but the duck wasn't particularly juicy and lacked the deep savory flavor and aromatic fragrance I expect from a great Peking duck. Given the portion and overall quality, I didn't feel it justified the $58 price. Stir-Fried Beef Flat Rice Noodles -- $19 | 9/10 Outstanding and easily one of the highlights. The beef was tender, the noodles had an excellent smoky wok hei aroma, and the dish wasn't overly greasy. Great portion for $19 and easily among my top five stir-fried beef flat rice noodle dishes I've ever had. Mayonnaise Walnut Shrimp -- $25 | 8/10 Jumbo shrimp with a crispy exterior coated in a delicious sweet-and-savory mayonnaise sauce. The generous portion and quality made the $25 price reasonable. Egg Tofu with Snow Pea Leaves -- $21 | 8/10 The tofu was soft and creamy, while the fresh, crisp snow pea leaves and savory sauce brought everything together beautifully. Very satifying with good portion size. Spot Prawn Sashimi -- $98 | 6/10 Beautifully presented over ice with approximately 8-10 prawns, with the heads and bodies separated. The prawns were fresh and naturally sweet and paired nicely with the sushi sauce and ginger. Quality was good, but at $98, the portion makes this difficult to consider a strong value. Jalapeño Garlic Soft-Shell Crab -- $30 | 8/10 Another standout. The crispy batter was packed with garlic, butter, black pepper, and jalapeño flavor, while the fresh crab inside remained the star. Savory, crispy, and satisfying, with pricing comparable to similar dishes around the area. Service was exceptional throughout our visit. We were seated immediately upon checking in for our reservation, our order was taken promptly, and the food arrived quickly. Despite how busy the restaurant was, there always seemed to be a waiter nearby whenever we needed utensils, napkins, water, or wanted to order something else. Even the co-owner and manager personally stopped by our table to make sure everything was going well--a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated. Overall, Fung's Kitchen was an excellent dining experience. Prices can run high on certain dishes, and the Peking duck was disappointing, but the Lobster Mountain, beef flat rice noodles, soft-shell crab, attentive service, and impressive atmosphere more than made up for it. For the foregoing reasons, I would highly recommend Fung's Kitchen, especially for larger groups looking for authentic Cantonese seafood and shareable dishes.

Per our friend, their salt and pepper ribs are the best they've had in Houston, and I would agree. It was crispy, flavorful, and the meat was tender. Yum! Definitely the highlight of the meal. The beef cubes with asparagus and mushrooms was good too. Beef was nice and tender and flavor was good. The house special tofu was a surprise box as it literally had everything in it! 5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here.
