I didn't even know this bakery existed until my husband, who is Colombian, introduced me to it. We stopped by to pick up some pan de bono and a few other breakfast items. I tried the pan de yuca, and it was fresh, flavorful, and very enjoyable. My husband is a big fan of this bakery and has enjoyed everything he's tried here. The bakery itself is quite small and felt a bit disorganized during our visit. It also could be cleaner, which was the only downside to the experience. On the other hand, the service was excellent--the staff was friendly, welcoming, and made us feel well taken care of. The food was authentic. The chicken was incredibly tender, crispy crust and thin cut. The empanada sauce was mild. I used it over my side salad also flavorful. We took our food for take out and was still nice and warm once home. Great counter service! read more

I bought a Tamal which I was craving for so long. First it wasn't fresh, it was frozen " God knows for how long" after having to wait for the next day to be able to heated up, when I opened it and started to eat, not only was dry do to the thickness of the amount of corn flour, salty and full of pork meat. Tamales should have more ingredients as.. peas, carrots, potatoes, ( some have a little bit or rice) three meats which are.. chicken, beef, and pork; each one in a balanced amounts. Pork meat and a thick layer of flour makes the texture of the tamal very dry, which makes the taste and experience of eating it not so enjoyable. The tamal texture should be soft and juicy (with out been soupy) the combination of the three meats along with the rest of the ingredients plus the seasoning that should be added at time of cooking wrap in the plantain leaves is what it gives the tamales the absolutely unique flavor and texture. Reason why I m absolutely disappointed with my experience of buying tamales from the Molina's Bakery. Never again!!! read more

The bottom line is the people who work here are very nice - friendly and helpful. The pan de bono buns are delicious. Some of their other baked goods are tasty too. There are always customers eating meals here - I believe people eat here because it tastes like home - Colombia. But I didn't love the rice and beans - and I've not tasted their other food so I can only tell you the prices seem a bit steep but perhaps the food taste makes it worth it. We don't even keep bread in our house - so why did we shop here? Because my husband's co-worker brought pan de bono to him to thank him for helping her on a project. He tasted one and immediately packed the rest to share with me! I cut the buns into quarters and toasted them. The bun's dough created a slight pull and I loved the subtle sweet flavor. We had to buy more! We were entertaining a family member and wanted to have baked goods on hand. So we bought bunuelos, pan de bono, guava and cheese pastries and guava pastries. Ok we kinda lost our minds because everything looked so good. The bunuelos were thick and tasty but I preferred the pan de bono. I preferred the guava pastry over the one with cheese too because they were a bit too generous with the cheese - I liked the tart guava paste by itself. The pastry was spot on, so you're good no matter if you order it with or without cheese. They also offer pineapple and apple pastries. I tried their cheese bread and didn't like the dough - it made for a soft bread, no crispy crust and not enough cheese to either make a cheese crust or gooey inside. The rice was fluffy and I like sticky rice, so it's a personal preference issue - people who like wet rice could like this. The beans were red kidney beans and not to my taste. Again, I'm sure others could appreciate it - people in the restaurant were eating it. The menu shows prices that are higher than other local businesses that offer similar plates (like La Granja). The plates of food looked good but I wouldn't pay the prices for the food. So I can't tell you if it was tasty or not but I can tell you that there were people eating there each time I visited. The people behind the counter mostly speak Spanish. They were cordial to me as I did my best to order and communicate in Spanish. One of them is taking English lessons so we have a deal that I practice my Spanish with her and she practices her English with me! Every person behind the counter was friendly and helpful to me. I appreciated their professionalism and kindness. The other patrons felt similarly because each time I was there people were stuffing money into the tip jar - whether they ordered baked goods or entrees. I love the feel of the bakery. I love the people there. But I'm up a few pounds so I froze the rest of the pan de bono and am back on salads. The service was ok during this visit but and they offer a moderate menu selection. Nice find at sunrise area. Stoped by searching for some piece of my homeland. Breakfast with arepas cheese and eggs are pretty good. I tried both (white corn & choclo arepa) can't decide which one like it most. Scrambled eggs re Alfre like at home, with tomato and onions finely chopped and tender and moist. Not the best, but it will do for quick - service Colombian food. I normally don't order anything from the menu but instead prepared snacks instead. There is just way better Colombian restaurants for that. But their beef empanadas, pan de bono (cheese bread roll), chicharron, chorizo, and morcilla are a good snack when you're in a hury. Aside from those snacks, bakery items, and menu items, they also serve cantina so you get lunch 5 days a week for a set price. Always a great deal if you work in the area. Normally I like their juices but this time it was aggressively sweet. I literally had sugar granules in my mango juice with milk. Their cortadito was extra strong, which I loved. On the weekends they are pretty busy. The tables are so close together that you can barely pull your chairs out. If you are coming with someone, have one person save a seat and the other place the order at the counter. We were looking for desserts and drove by this place because it said bakery! When we walked in we were greeted but the employees didn't know a lick of English so we kind of gestured and the woman behind the counter had to ask guests to translate for us. They had a small variety of sweets to choose from. My favorite was their cheese bread! The bread was so soft and flavorful. I also ordered some guava pastries which were pretty good. My husband didn't order anything because he wanted more varieties and things with chocolate in it. I gave it three stars because the variety was lacking and the ambiance inside was dim and alright looking. They had a few tables. The parking lot was pretty big. One thing is, the prices were pretty cheap for these desserts. I would come back if they had more variety. They also serve food not just desserts. read more

Nice little bakery in Sunrise...the surprise is that they also have a full menu on-board for lunch and dinner and even brunch. The prices a pretty good. Seating is limited depending at what time you go. Service is good and typically quick. People tend to sit there longer than needed so it leaves you hanging on taking out. Parking is a pain there so good luck finding a spot. read more

This place is your typical Colombian bakery, slow service and average food. The girls are always very nice and if you don't speak Spanish, you may have difficulty ordering but they try. They have tables and chairs if you want to sit and order off the menu. I've never had anything there that I really didn't like but nothing has really wowed me either. I have been here several times, and I have not reviewed this place to my surprise. Let me start off by saying that a couple of months a ago I woud have given this place one star. After much consideration and in giving them another try I will go ahead and be kind and add one more. The food here is good, but not the best Columbian pastries I have ever tasted. I usually love coming here for brekfast and even though I think they are over priced, I still come for one reason only. Their cafe con leche! They make a very good cuban style cafe con leche. Their Pan de bono is good, but once again. Not the best. I give this place a low star rating because they have over charged me twice and had to go back and complain. Another time I noticed that the same about was deducted from my bank twice. I was so pissed that I swore I would never come back, but here I am again. I guess I just love my cafe con leche from here. I was next door getting my hair done so popped over to grab some lunch. I can't speak to the pastries but I thought the prepared food was really good. I ordered the breaded chicken cutlet and it came with rice and beans, plantains, a yummy salad tossed in a tangy vinaigrette and yummy seasoned fries. Decent food, fast service, a nice assortment of breads/pastries and a good variety of dishes are the staples of any Spanish-style bakery or, as my old Cuban grandmother used to say, "bay-kerie." Since this is only one of the relatively few Spanish-style bakeries in Sunrise (there are only 3 that I've found) it begs the question of how does it stack up against the percievable competition? Well as far as a Colombian bakery goes it's very good, not as good as Antitoquena in the strip mall just north of University and Commercial and definitely not as good as the other Colombian bakery on Pine Island and 44th. So, with that, I'll admit that this place is a decent bakery with decent prices and a fairly friendly staff. So now comes the question: "Francisco, if the food there is do-able, then why a one star rating? What is it? Do you hate Colombians or something?" The answer is a simple one: they've tried to rip me off the last two times I ate there. Please, read on. The second to last time I was there, my wife and I ate an early dinner - like I stated, the food was good, hot and there was nothing wrong with it - but, when it came time to pay, I got up and pulled out ol' plasticy. The girl manning the register swiped my card and, apparently, it didn't go through even though I saw a receipt print out. She told me that she voided it and swiped my card again. Cool, whatever, it happens. Well, I checked my BOA account a day later and lo and behold, I was double charged. I called the bakery and they told me to come in and that they would see about debiting my account the $10.23 extra they charged. Since I pimp hard and pimpin' ain't easy, I never got around to making it back to Molina's for my recompense. Meh, whatever, it was only like $10 so I decided that it was literally too much of a hassel to spend time and gas to get back my ten bucks so I said, screw it. A brotha is too busy on these streetz, na' mean? At the risk of alienating my non-gangsta friends on Yelp, let me summerize: I was double charged and way too busy with school, work, church, family, etc. to go back to Molina's for my money. Now, I could chalk this misstep as simply just that, an accident that does, can and will happen to anyone who pays with a card but, it was my last outing to Molina's that demonstrated to me that this place is simply out to get you. So, my wife and I had just finished coming from Mass and decided to go back to Molina's it had been about 5 months since the last time we had been there so I wasn't salty or bitter over the $10 loss. We went there and, once again, the grub was on point - no complaint there. The only complaint came when I went to go pay. This time instead of busting out ol' plasticy, I busted out them big faces (that's money for all of my non-gangsta friends). The girl at the register quickly punched in the amount, took my money, handed me the receipt and my change, that's when I noticed at how little change there was. That's when I asked myself, I said self: "how in the fuck did I just fucking spend $35 for two breakfast plates (average cost $6 each), two cafe con leches (average cost $2 each), a pan de bono and two empanadas?" Sho nuff, I was over-charged by like $15!!!! WTF? I told the register girl to correct it cuz there's definitely a mistake, she turned around and looked at the original bill and realized that she had "inadvertently" imputted the wrong numbers into the register. Wow, what a coincidence, no? That's why this place is only getting 1 star. It's obvious that they're trying to pull a little scam when they get the chance; I'm not blaming the owners or the management or the cooks in the back however, the serving staff is undeniably either too dumb to work a cash register or surreptitiously (that means sneaky for my gangsta friends) stealing from customers. As stated, the food is decent and decently priced so if you want some quick Colombian fare this is a good place to go to however, make sure you bring cash and a calculator just in case. read more

Saw this restaurant driving by and I said what the heck. Sometimes I visit SB , Small Business because I feel there food is less commercial and making the value in taste of it much better. Other times I visit because I want to show some type of support for the SB , Small Business . This was a support visit not a need my pallet romanced type of thing . The menu is very pricey and they are extremely limited in bakery selection. The Chorizo was good but a bit dry. The Bread was mixed with cheese as I was told anyway lol but none the less it was good, very good actually. The pineapple aloe yogurt 4 played my tongue. Even though food wasn't spectacular the drink left me with a happy ending . I got the small chocolate casero (homemade chocolate drink), tres leche, and a beef empanada all for under $6!. The tres leche is good, the cake was nice and chunky and the whip cream had a good flavor. The beef empanada I was confused because the stuffing tasted like potato and I didn't really taste or see any beef (maybe I'm not used to it or it was the wrong one). I'll be coming back for the other baked goods and maybe lunch sometime. read more
