I've never had such a great experience with a venue as we had with The Curtis Ballroom. ALL the employees were above and beyond helpful, flexible, and super fast in responding to any question, any changes, just anything. We worked with a few different event planners which helps them be so fast. One person is out of office so another takes over. Brianna, Matt, and Tiffany were our coordinators along the way. Each one was efficient, helpful, courteous, flexible, and patient. We started with a basic contract, but it had to be amended a few times along the way... NO issue at all! SO accommodating! A reunion is hard to plan as people just don't want to pay or commit right away. This makes it hard for the committee to know how much food to order, how we're going to pay for all of this, etc. The fact that they were flexible was beyond helpful! There were many food choices and again they were so flexible with the picking and choosing of what to serve and how to serve it. Day of the event, they assisted us in decorating and making small changes. People loved the food. The bar was reasonably priced and had a decent selection! I thought this was nice as so often a venue bar has lackluster choices. All the people working the night of the event were smiling, happy, and once again... super helpful! I just can't thank them enough. I would highly recommend this place for any party/event and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

It's about a 20 minute drive from Lakewood. The view in the back is probably the reason why couples choose this location. But to have access to the view you have to actively look for it. It's mostly covered by the neighbors big trees. Parking is in front which is limited and the side of the road for about 10-12 cars. You can't park anywhere else or you will be towed. The inside of the venue is not that big although it's not tiny either. Two things to consider if you're thinking about using this venue. It's old. So they have a wall AC that blows arctic air in one direction. Mine. So someone will be me in your reception and she will not be able to take it. I felt like I was in a meat locker. Second thing to consider: the uneven floors. A few people almost fell flat on their faces. Dark wood floors that's uneven+Heels? Comedy or dark comedy? Your imagination will work an O.T on what could potentially happen here. It's dark inside as well. Although there's a bar that can fix that. I'm not impressed and not a fan at all.

During conversation with Bob regarding details for the wedding, we asked that appetizers and drinks be ready for our daughter and son in law in the "bridal room" immediately following the ceremony. They wanted to have about 30 minutes to connect and reflect on the ceremony as a newly married couple. There was nothing. When I asked Bob about it, he said they would be there at 4:30p (it was 4:40p at the time). Disconcertingly, he also did not seem too worried about it. We heard that several of the CR staff members had called out sick on that day. The fact that not every scheduled staff member was there is unfortunate, but not our problem. I do want to say that the owners are very nice people. Bob was very friendly and respectful. However, he also is somewhat of a control freak and was a bit befuddled at times that we wanted to do things differently than his "plan." Example - he wanted our officiant to walk down the aisle prior to the mothers being seated - the direct opposite of how we do weddings in our faith community. The ceremony itself was perfect in every way, after we got that detail worked out. The music was on-point, and he worked easily with me to have the ceremony special music be perfect. For an indoor wedding, the guests face a rudimentary "stage," where they also place an arch that the couple is meant to be married under. I would recommend that future brides think about renting a curtain to cover this entire area, especially if you are like me and require a clean/simple aesthetic. You face an old-timey fireplace (not lit), and a stage of sorts, covered in old/dated grey carpet, at the back is where the DJ sits for the reception. On the far-right hand side of the stage, about an hour before the ceremony, 3 stacking chairs had still not been removed - my dad mentioned this to me - so my husband and wedding coordinator moved them. Additionally. When we booked the venue, we were told that the chairs would extend back towards the bar area, but, they put guests that would not "fit" on the floor to the upper area, behind a half wall - not even close to what had been discussed. Speaking of the upper area, one of the reserved tables in that area that was meant to be up front/center, was moved a row back, so one of the tables of honor was far in the back of the venue. Very, very disappointing, as it was full of my good friends who have been supporting our daughter for years and years. The reception. The bar opened immediately the ceremony, and I want to give those guys 5 stars ABSOLUTELY for their stellar service. The drinks were delicious, strong and were made quickly. I want to say that our entire party of about 80-ish people had drinks in hand within 15 minutes. No issues whatsoever with the bar service. The appetizers (meant to be ready at 4:30p) were not served until after 5p, which should really not be that big of a deal, but we had some hungry young adults (including bride/groom), so it was a thing. An odd twist came when the dinner was in full swing. We had discussed speeches during the dinner. However, we found that Bob was determined that speeches should take place during the cake cutting ceremony, after the kids finished eating. Again, he has an idea in his head of how a wedding should run. He finally relented and allowed us to have our speeches during dinner to honor the couple. When it was time to cut the cake, our kids were not permitted to have a wedding toast (with champagne that we had purchased) because we already did our speeches? How does one have anything to do with another? No speeches required - just able to quietly toast one another. Speaking of time dragging. I hate to mention this, but I do believe that one reason that the dinner was dragged way out was because we had purchased an open bar for 3 hours. Outside of the initial rush to the bar after the ceremony, the bar was not super busy. It seemed suspicious to me that the bar was targeted to be closed once dinner had finished (3 HOURS LATER?). People are going to drink more once dancing begins, and by that time, the open bar had closed, and had become a paid bar. TLDR: A lot of quirks, and if you choose to go with this venue, you will need to stay on top of expectations at all times. All in, we paid around $10k for 100 people. About 75 showed up, so be *very certain* of your final headcount, or you will be overcharged. If you are not incredibly attuned to detail, certain things will likely not bother you. If details are your thing, you may want to consider one of the other "all-inclusive" venues in the Denver area

Also because this house is over 100 years old it isn't very accessible. Doorways are narrow and the stairs are steep. With all that being said Margaret "Molly" Brown's house was beautiful. Her story is even better. If you don't know who she was outside of being a Titanic survivor then you're missing out on a lot of history. This museum deserves a spot on your itinerary.
