Another welcome addition to Chinatown that definitely stands out! This was my first time trying Molly Tea and it definitely won't be the last. This place runs like a well-oiled machine, and despite how long the line may seem, the staff efficiently process each order and you only have to wait a few minutes for pickup. I tried their famous "Snowy Jasmine" tea, which is essentially just the jasmine tea with whipped cream on it (they recommend less sugar and ice which I got as well) and it was delicious. The tea itself is slightly sweet and aromatic, and the nuts on top of the whipped cream gave it an almost earthy taste. The price is a bit much for a single drink, but the quality makes up for it. My only suggestion is to wait outside for your order after placing it as the building itself is super tiny and gets very claustrophobic. read more

I don't get the hype. Long line to place an order. Long wait to get the actual drink. There is a bunch of people waiting outside for both. They don't make it easy to be able to tell from outside when your drink is actually done. Inside is obviously crowded as it is a small area. They should have a TV at one of the side windows that displays the order when it is ready. I personally stuck with the basics. Premium jasmine matcha milk tea. It was alright. Kind of watered down a bit. The jasmine taste was weak. Matcha taste was underwhelming. Maybe I didn't order what they are popular for which I don't know what that is but I wasn't impressed and didn't think it was worth the wait. Overall, I will not wait in line for this again. I was finally able to try this place today and was a bit disappointed. I've had a great experience at the NY Flushing location. I ordered the matcha white sambalta salted cheese and I tasted zero cheese or foam flavor. The matcha mix is very similar to what the other tea places use. The worst part was, the pickup area was just chaos. It was very hard to find your drink, especially when it gets busy. I must've remembered wrong how their tea tasted in NY or maybe now that I have tried Heytea, I feel like they taste similar, but Heytea actually has more tea options. There is also literally no parking around the area and with the huge wait time they have, I may not be back for a while. They do however have an app now which can make ordering much easier. read more

The owner contacted me through Yelp with an offer to amend my previous poor experience-- something I greatly appreciated. I gave Molly Tea another shot, and got the Premium Jasmine Milk Tea (30% sugar, brown sugar boba). This was my second attempt at coming here after my initial visit, as the first time was on the weekend when it was incredibly busy (hour wait again) + there was no boba left. During this visit (weekday night) there was a much shorter line/crowd. The staff member who took my order was very friendly and kind, and my drinks came out promptly. The tea was fragrant and just the right sweetness which I really enjoyed. The boba itself was a bit chewy for my taste, hence the -1 star, but other than that it was pretty good. read more

Molly Tea is definitely one of the chains that stand out in terms of their tea selection and variety of drinks they offer, but not so much in that it is a must try as people keep pointing out based on the hype. I've tried their Peach Tieguanyin Oolong Milk Tea, Snowy Jasmine, Snowy Peach Oolong, Tongmu Lapsang, Double Hazelnut Choco Lava, White Champaca Milk Tea, and White Champaca Hazelnut Choco Lava. The "snow" itself doesn't give much flavor, but rather some creaminess and the pecans give a nice nuttiness to the drink. The white champaca drinks stood out the most to me in terms of tea flavor unlike the jasmine they're supposedly known for. The brown sugar boba was also terrible on multiple occasions as if they cooked it wrong or for not long enough since the texture and chewiness was off. I got most of my drinks with 50% sugar and it was not too sweet, but their recommended levels are 70%. They've been swamped with orders since they've opened and it is an awful experience with the amount of traffic they're getting. I would not recommend waiting minimum 30 minutes for a drink, though I have ordered online a few times to test it out and it is still a mess. They also charge an online ordering fee now. The most recent time I was there they ran out of their apple juice that they use in the Jasmine Apple Milk Tea and so if you were just waiting for your order, you'd have been waiting indefinitely since they don't notify you unless you're physically there to check in on your order. This happened to many people that day including food delivery orders where people just stood idle without any clue why their order still wasn't ready well beyond their estimated time when you placed your order. It would've been a good idea to disable ordering for a particular product if unavailable, put signs up, or make an announcement in store. It's absolutely cramped inside with the mobs of people on the daily as well. I feel for the staff honestly.. unfortunately they have limited space and don't manage the crowds well despite being open for over two months now. Once the hype and crowds die down or if there just happens to be a time where there isn't a long wait, I'd still recommend giving it a try for their white champaca tea though. Also props to their marketing as they stand out with their drinks and their packaging/bags. read more

I was super excited to see Molly Tea finally opening up in Chinatown, so I went on the first day of their soft opening. I waited in line to order for about 35 minutes and then another 20 minutes for my 2 drinks. The staff was efficient, gave out menus, good line management, and used their cart outside to hand out orders over a megaphone. The inside of the store is small, but still had 2 people taking orders. I ordered the premium Jasmine milk tea and snowy peach oolong with both 70% sugar and no ice. I was surprised to see the cream top on my jasmine milk tea as I wasn't expecting it as I've ordered it at the NY location before. This is one of their most popular drinks and the best Jasmine Green tea I've had. I will definitely pass on the cream top with the nuts. There is no mention of these nuts on the menu, which is a pretty big allergy concern. The snowy peach oolong is also really good. The peach flavor is really strong, but I found chunks of ice in my drink which is a bit disappointing. I hope they work through all of their kinks during this soft opening week of 12% off each order. The grand opening is next Friday, 12/19 where it is BOGO deal for their most popular drinks. read more

Molly tea is quite floral and has a strong jasmine flavor, but luckily I really enjoy it so it's amazing that they opened up in Chinatown to bring a better selection of milk tea to the area. I've been a few times now and like the standard premium jasmine tea. I tried it with sago/mini bubbles and did not enjoy it, felt like it's better purely as a milk tea. They have two different types of straws, a mini coffee like straw and then a large boba sized straw if you get boba. It's always been crowded when I go, but it's really nice that you can order online ahead of time (but expect to wait about 30 minutes). read more

Strong, fragrant jasmine green tea without tasting oversteeped at all! The jasmine whipped cream was also delightfully floral without being too overpowering. The pecan bits were nicely toasted, and the slightly sweet nutty taste were a great complement to the milk tea. I did 50% sweetness and liked that level a lot (I usually get 30% sweetness at other places, but Molly Tea lets the jasmine tea shine through without too much sweetness). There was a huge crowd due to it being the soft opening, with about a 35 minute wait between time of ordering and time of receiving drink, but given the size of the crowd and the employees' efficiency, it seemed reasonable. Inside was small but bright and cute, with some windowsill bench seating area potentially (no chairs or tables, maybe they'll introduce one or two after their grand opening when the crowd size levels out).
