I discovered Molly Tea completely by accident. I saw a woman carrying this luxury-looking pink shopping bag and had to ask what store it was from. When she told me it was actually tea, I was intrigued. I happened to be about five minutes from Chinatown, so I decided to check it out. The concept immediately stood out. I haven't seen a tea shop presented quite like this before. The store itself is very small and the line was long, but once inside, I noticed the clear Louis Vuitton-inspired details throughout the branding and packaging. I ordered the Snowy Jasmine and Velvety Matcha. When ordering, I was asked if I wanted the recommended 70%, which I agreed to without really knowing what that would taste like. Because of the limited space, you step back outside after ordering. Your order number is displayed on a screen and they also announce it over a loudspeaker when it's ready. With the amount of space they have to work with, I thought that system was actually very convenient. Service was straightforward, similar to what you'd expect from most takeout-focused chains. Both drinks were good, although the Velvety Matcha wasn't the best matcha I've had in the city. Overall, Molly Tea was a cool experience. I have come here very often and have ordered most things on their menu from the matcha jasmine milk tea to the peach oolong milk tea. I really couldn't tell you which one is my favorite because they all are pretty good. Overall, their drinks are floral, something that keeps their taste distinct from other places. Their drinks also taste light and refreshing at the same time. Saw this place was super busy and decided to stop in. Apparently it's new to Boston. It's located right on the corner of Chinatown near the gate, and pretty small inside. They have a variety of teas, hot and iced. Many different flavors as well. Menu was a little confusing but I decided to go with the snowy jasmine. As you ordered at the self-service you could add toppings for an extra charge, so we weren't sure if our drinks came with all those things or not. The barista assured us that's if you want extra on the side, as long as the description originally said it was included. My snowy jasmine was good. I got it iced and went with their recommendations, less ice and less sugar. The jasmine tea was flavorful and they put a whipped cream on top with what tasted like pecan pieces. It was super busy inside so we waited a little bit. They had a lot of staff making drinks and what looked like a sophisticated operation, but it still took a while. Stopped by Molly Tea in Boston Chinatown and the service was quick and friendly. Couldn't go wrong with a cold drink on a cold snowy day! The space is pretty small with limited room to wait, but understandable since everyone was packed inside trying to escape the snow. I placed an order online but the mobile status doesn't really update so you do have to stop by a few times to see if you were called, should you decide to leave rather than wait directly outside. After placing my order, I waited 30 minutes. I thought the tea was pretty strong here, compared to other places. It's not what I personally like but this seems to interest a lot of others. I'd be interested in trying some of their other drinks. Their straws are pretty unique. The crowd can vary during the day, but my recommendation would be to order online. They are like a factory in there pumping out drinks all day long and are fairly quick and efficient. Inside, there's not much space to stand and wait around, so to minimize your time in the cramped space, it's better to place your order while en route. I also love the way the drinks are packaged. There is a plastic lid, but underneath, you'll see that the paper cup is sealed to prevent spillage. I am a fan of the "tea tasting" straw they have, which not only prevents me from finishing my drink too fast, but also lets me enjoy the floral-ness and true flavors of the tea. read more

The first Molly Tea in MA, FINALLY! They're located in Chinatown across the street from the Hot Pot Buffet & right next to the Chinatown Gate. We went yesterday (12/11) for the first day of their soft opening at opening time, 11am. There was already a line haha but honestly, the wait wasn't so bad. Total wait time overall was ~30 min. The wait time later in the day did look insane though. My first introduction to MollyTea was the one in NYC's Chinatown! We've been HOOKED since and to be honest... we were making weekly trips JUST for some Snowy Jasmine haha. So, I'm definitely elated to finally have MollyTea here, & a second location already coming to the Allston area soon. So happy that Molly Tea is now in Boston! I've only had it once in New York a couple months ago but became an instant fan, so I was thrilled to check out the Boston location today. Be warned, the wait is long. I ordered in person and waited 40 min to get one drink. Upon perusal of the menu I was really saddened to see that they did not offered the vegan oat milk drinks. I'm not vegan or lactose but really enjoyed how light the oat milk jasmine tea was and the orange slice really was the icing on the cake! The oat milk teas are available in New York but not sure if it's regional or seasonal. I got the snowy jasmine with recommended sugar and ice level. It was pretty good but if you're not a whipped cream fan normally, just try the jasmine milk tea. Hoping this place dies down a bit because the wait is too much for me. If you're not in a rush though, I recommend!! Note: the snowy drinks have a whipped cream topped with roasted pecans on top. I was so excited to hear that Molly Tea opened in Boston. I tried it when I visited New York and the Boston location didn't disappoint. I went to the grand opening and the line was pretty long and it took me 25 minutes to get inside to order and another 10 minutes to get my drink. For how many people were in line and how many drinks they were making, the line wasn't too long. Once you get inside the store, the smell of jasmine is everywhere. The store did a pretty good job with directing traffic to make sure that there wasn't too many people in the store and to organize the line. Most people waited for their drink outside the store and there was a speaker that called out numbers and a giant tv screen displaying order numbers as well. I tried multiple drinks and my favorite drink is the premium jasmine milk tea. It's a very strong jasmine tea flavor and it's very floral forward. The recommended/default sugar and ice levels were 70% sugar and less ice and it was perfect. The drinks were not too sweet and you can really taste the tea flavors. This place has got to be the worst thing that could've been added to Boston... because I literally cannot stop going. I'm here at least once a week because it's that good. Ever since Molly Tea has opened, they've become my go-to drink spot whenever I'm craving milk tea. I've tried most of their drinks, and they've all been amazing but nothing beats the Premium Jasmine Tea and the Premium Jasmine Matcha. Both are super fragrant and you can really taste the quality of their tea. Their drinks are also not too sweet which I appreciate. The wait times can still get pretty long sometimes, so my tip is to order ahead through their app before heading there just to be safe. The app gives an estimated wait time, and most of the time my drink is ready by the time I arrive. This avoids waiting for your drinks since the shop itself is pretty small so there isn't much room to wait inside. When it's busy, you're usually either standing outside in the cold or squeezed in with everyone else waiting for their drinks. Interaction with the staff is usually pretty minimal during pickup, but they're always fast and efficient. I'm typically in and out within a minute of picking up my order. So if you love quality milk tea, just be warned, this place is dangerous for your wallet because you'll probably start coming here every week like I do. read more

Top notch for a strongly flavored green or oolong milk tea, I'll probably keep coming back when I'm in the mood for these as they are constantly rotating flavors. Even at 30% sugar you can taste the flavors and I like how it lets the tea taste come through more. If you're able to order ahead on the app, I'd recommend doing that even though there's a small (30¢) online order fee since you'll be able to get your drink faster. The store is right next to the Chinatown gate and there's probably a crowd outside waiting for drinks. Inside it's pretty cramped and you'll have to wade through a crowd to grab your drink. There's probably a line but once you order, it moves very fast. I just went today (Jan 2026) and it's still busy even on an early Friday afternoon. They use a lot of nuts and peanuts in their drinks, but they have all allergens labeled on their menu and my friend with a severe nut allergy was able to safely drink their nut-free options! During the beginning of the soft opening, the lines were super duper long. I went recently, twice, and the lines definitely got better. I think it helps to have an employee direct traffic to avoid congestion inside the shop. I went on Friday night and there was no issue with space because of the efficiency of the employee directing inside and outside traffic. I went again Sunday night and there was no employee directing traffic, so although there was no line outside, but there were a bunch of people who already ordered waiting inside for their orders which made it difficult for others to go in and out. Aside from that, let's talk aesthetics. The baby pink and 4-pointed flower logo easily attracts customers. Some even go just to get the paper bag the drinks come in. Almost like a Louis Vuitton of the boba industry lol. They had cute merch available for purchase as well such as zodiac magnets, a reusable bag, a Molly Tea Stanley, and other items. Employee-wise, whoever trained them, I give them my applause. The employees taking orders and cashing customers out are quick, audible, and confirm orders well. It also helps that they wear microphones so that customers can hear in the crowed shop. Bobaristas that are working hard in the back churn out drinks like a factory. You put in an order for 2 drinks and it'll be out in probably 3 minutes later without compromising quality. Drink packers in the front also work efficiently keeping bags labeled and handing out drinks, making sure to confirm the receipt numbers. Of course, big applause to the employees who directed traffic in the winter cold as well. All together, the team at Molly Tea work very efficiently and I have no complaints at all. Even though the shop is small inside, with the way they work, it's so much better than any bigger store. And also, thank you to whoever thought of installing the speaker outside of the store to call out numbers when the order is ready. So helpful. Now, down to the final part of the review: the tea. What I've tried so far were the Premium Jasmine Milk Tea, DanCang Oolong Milk Tea, and Gardenia Oolong Milk Tea. I will say, their version of sugar levels is very low, similar to Cha Kung Feo, HeyTea, and Zero&. So if you're looking for sweet, you can do 100% sugar, as their recommended is 70%. I agree with other reviewers when they say 70% is the way to go to really enjoy the flavor of the tea. Sometimes when I drink milk tea from other places, I get the bitter aftertaste of the tea, but here, not at all. It's so smooth, clean, and oddly addicting. I'm not sure if it's because of the type of tea they use, whether it's because they don't use the first steep, or both, the tea itself is very smooth. They also don't overdo it with the milk. You can taste it, but it mixes so well with the tea you barely even notice. I wish I remembered to get a topping like sago so I can judge the texture on that. Out of the 3 teas though, I prefer the DanCang Oolong because it has depth to it. Overall, the experience and the taste is 5 out of 5.
