As a contractor, it is imperative to give my clients a professional and vip experience. Even more important than that, it's imperative to stay on schedule. In order to stay on schedule, the materials on a job need to be right and high quality. These things sound like they should be simple to achieve, but after working with other many manufacturers, I found that they are not. I had the most bizarre Molyneaux home consultation. Jeanie, the design consultant, came to my home and was completely unhelpful. It was the worst sales pitch I've ever experienced. I am repainting, replacing my carpet and i am also interested in Molyneaux's kitchen and bath refreshes. Jeanie actually recommended that i do not replace my carpet. She reluctantly took measurements and provided a verbal quote. Jeanie requested i pay half at the consultation and then she would provide the contract. Our interactions made me very uncomfortable paying before seeing a quote to confirm what i was buying. Regarding painting, she told me Molyneaux paint jobs are "expensive". I have no idea what that means because she refused to provide a general quote or a price range. But she offered to call another carpet client who had their interior painted to find out which contractor they used so that i could reach out to that painting company. Wow!!!! It really felt like she was not interested in discussing kitchen and bath solutions... so we didnt and i didnt hire Molyneaux for any of my home renovation projects. read more

I recently purchased carpeting for my upstairs living area and my downstairs basement area from Molyneaux in Oakmont. Megan Baird was my sales representative. The selection process evolved over several weeks' time with several meetings at the store and at my home to review carpet samples, discuss the ideal mix of carpet and carpet pad for an environment with many cats. Megan was extremely helpful in explaining the characteristics of the various carpets we were considering. Also, color and carpet type can be confusing and Megan patiently explained the differences in the various carpets considered and advised as to the hue of the carpets, appropriateness of the chosen carpet colors in relationship to existing flooring in the kitchen and dining room. I had the carpeting installed in 2 "phases" : upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs part was my living room, hall and closets. The installers arrived very early on the scheduled day. I had to rush to finish my last minute prep tasks. The two folks doing the install worked tirelessly tearing up the old carpet, moving my furniture out of the living room, carrying the carpeting into the house and laying the carpet. These guys worked really hard and the quality of the installation showed. They also did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards, vacuuming the new carpeting and disposing of the old carpeting. Again, the two installers really worked hard installing the carpeting and they did an excellent job. I will definitely use Molyneaux for my future carpeting needs for the two bedrooms that are destined for new carpeting in the future. read more

Molyneaux performed great overall. Carpeting and flooring are great quality and workpeople are knowledgeable and friendly. Initial consultation was great. Scheduling is a problem. I had two kinds of flooring installed and one crew did not talk to the other crew. Workpeople would show up without knowledge of the unique situation of my job. Which meant there was a delay in completing my job. I had to incur an unexpected additional cost to get my job done right. If I was recommending Molyneaux to a friend I would suggest they allow extra time to get their job completed and call the office before and during installation to make sure everything will be competed in a timely manner. I find their commercials amusing. One gentleman professes that he purchased laminate from a company that after two years it started lifting and they wouldn't do anything about it. I had laminate installed in my entire home and after just three weeks it was "Peaking" and Molyneaux refused to honor their warranty. I was annoyed when they told me that it was standard to have them do two separate estimates. When we first came in to the store, we had the dimensions of our basement and had a good idea of what we wanted. It would have been a fairly large job. The sales rep did not seem to know that much about the products so that we had to ask a more senior sales person about some items. We were looking for a wood-look waterproof vinyl flooring. There was some unevenness in the floor underlayment We also had questions about whether the old flooring might contain asbestos. When the rep came out she missed some critical aspects of our flooring. The pricing was difficult to figure out because she pressured us with "limited time" sale prices. On a positive note, they did an asbestos test which turned out negative. I was then told that since ours was a large job, the company would need to send out their technicians to have a second look at the floor area and give a final estimate. I asked why they could not have sent out the real estimators the first time. I was told that since it was a big job, they wanted to make sure that we were onboard with their prices before they sent out their senior people to look at the area. Molyneaux recently (Sept 2019) installed new Shaw Class Act tonal carpet on our stairs from first and second floors to the third floor landing. We chose Molyneaux because the company had previously installed the carpet that was replaced. We were impressed with our design consultant Megan Baird who was very knowledgeable and helpful in giving insight into such factors as how color changes with lighting, etc. Megan's Shop-At-Home visit to our house was efficient and professional. I was totally pleased with the service and product at Molyneaux Carpet in Oakmont. I needed new carpet for a rental unit and Molyneaux made it quite easy and satisfying. I had a quick visit to the store and the salesman there helped me pick out a carpet and took the measurements that I had made and told me that Megan would call me that afternoon or the next day with an estimate. Megan called the next day as promised, gave me an estimate that was perfectly in line with my expectations and then worked with me to set a date for installation that was very soon and before my next tenants moved in - thus minimizing the disruption to anyone and making it easier for the installer. I very much appreciated her (and the company's) ability to meet my timing requirements. Megan called a day or two later to meet me at the property so she could do precise measurements - she was on time and very professional, taking measurements, and writing up a contract on site so that we could get the work done the next week. She also brought a set of samples, even though I had already selected the carpet color, and helped me realize that I had chosen the totally wrong color for the room. She helped me choose a much better color for the room, and it even came out a few dollars cheaper than the original selection. The scheduler called 2 days later as promised to set up a time, and the Installer came as scheduled. Dave, the carpet installer was friendly and professional. He was working alone so it took longer than originally expected, but since no one was in the apartment (between tenants) it did not really matter. Dave did a great job, finished in the same day, the carpet looks terrific, he left the apartment clean and he hauled away all the old carpet and debris. My new tenants will be very happy. I was very satisfied and will gladly call Molyneaux first the next time I need carpet. read more

I was so dissatisfied with the sales representative who came out to my house. Along with the lack of concern or follow up. The amount of samples he brought was ridiculous and his ability to try to even help me with color choices or decisions on what would work best for my layout of my house, Or my needs with my animals,made me realize that they we're not who I wanted to use at all. With only a handful of choices that he brought for me to look at, and then the pricing which was also discounted and still was gonna run me almost $10,000. I gladly recommend Megan Baird and Molyneaux to others who need carpet or new floors. I own and manage several residential investment properties in and around Pittsburgh. When I needed to replace the three-level entryway/hallway/stairway carpet in a property I just acquired, I called Megan Baird at Molyneaux, as I had worked with her before and had a good experience. True to form, Megan was responsive to my initial email, we scheduled a visit to the property shortly thereafter, and she brought lots of samples and plenty of ideas about what would work for this application. Megan was way helpful and knowledgeable as sorted through options for color, style, durability, et al and eventually picked out a solution that was mostly carpet and a bit of hard surface near the front door, which I probably would not have thought of by myself but which I am very happy with. Megan made it easy to finalize the order and Molyneaux scheduled the install on a date that worked for me. The installers showed up just as they said they would, they were friendly, they worked hard and they finished the install by lunchtime on Day 2. I am quite pleased with the results, both for how the carpet looks and for the quality of the install. I like the fact that Molyneaux is a local company, employing local tradespeople and supporting the local community. The fact that Pat M is a fellow Central Catholic alum helps me feel good about using the company. I have two kitchen floors and one apartment floor that need to be addressed next and I am happy to be working with Megan on these. I feel confident that we understand each other, she is responsive to my requirements, she communicates well and in a timely fashion, and I trust her and Molyneaux to do the projects well. read more

We had a very good experience with Molyneaux, as they put vinyl flooring in our basement boiler room, essentially converting it into a usable office space for us. The room was in pretty bad shape, and we were able to get it done, partially by ourselves and then having molyneaux complete it for us. Steve Porter came to our house with all the samples, took measurements, and got everything squared away. He was personable, knowledgeable, and had good recommendations for the space. Dave, who installed the floor, was very professional and kind and did an excellent job with what he had to work with (it was pretty rough). I give five stars because we had a slow start and some difficulties with whether or not molyneaux would be able to complete the project. The moment we walked in the door we received a friendly welcome from the salesman who helped us locate flooring options in the material we wanted and even helped us pick colors that would look good in our spaces. He quickly calculated our costs once we decided on two options and helped us arrange other details, like glue, that we needed to purchase as well. Having a salesperson come to my house so I could look at specific samples that would look nice in my rooms was very helpful for me. Robyn was great...very friendly, professional, and able to explain my options. The one thing I didn't really like was that they weren't able to tell me a specific break down of the pricing so I could comparison shop. Robyn explained that the price given is a bundle of all the services included. I ended up spending a lot more than I anticipated, telling myself you "get what you pay for". And the carpet itself is beautiful and everyone was very friendly, however I noticed afterward that there are a few marks and scratches on my furniture that were definitely not there before the installation. For what I paid, I expected impeccable service. Overall, I'm happy with my experience and my new carpet. read more

We were very pleased with the work that Molyneaux did for us. We chose them because of their salesman, Tim Clark. He showed up when he was supposed to and was very knowledgeable about the products. He did not try to up sell us (we knew what we wanted) or come on aggressively. We had them put down Karndean vinyl plank flooring and carpeting in our condo. It looks fabulous!! The floors are concrete, so they had some extensive leveling to do (they ended up using more product than initially anticipated, but did not increase our cost). The Karndean vinyl was on backorder and our salesman, Tim, knew we were anxious to get moved in, so they sent someone to pick it up in Ohio, thereby getting it a week earlier. Tim was easy to work with and responded to our questions in a timely manner. He even met us on his day off! If we have any other flooring needs, we will be using the Verona Molyneaux. read more

Please don't use Molyneaux. Here I am a year later and the laminate flooring is defective (again!) The first time it was installed, the workers were wonderful but the floor started to peak after a month or so. After taking time off of work for not one but 3 separate inspectors, I was finally told it was a faulty product. The second installation involved me telling the installer, that the floor panels were still peaking, he basically told me it was just the way the flooring was. Very, very disappointed. Friends have told me I should have tried Family Floors. For the carpet installation, beware of thresholds, I'm still stepping on nail tacks after being told to just hammer them myself (Hey, that's a lot of money I paid too!). Terrible experience and I would never recommend. read more

We chose Molyneaux for laminate flooring installation in our kitchen and dining room in February 2015. We were very pleased with the work and the sales representative, Tim Clark, that we decided to consider them for carpet installation in our family room and office. After receiving a quote from Molyneaux and a competitor, we went with Molyneaux for the installation of our carpet. Unlike the competitor Tim was friendly and seemed to care about making the process as easy as possible. He explained the different types of carpet choices available and the pros and cons of each. He also reviewed the warranties with each type and what was covered. He was extremely helpful with color selection based on the room and entry way and future plans to paint. Molyneaux's prices were very reasonable and slightly less than the other quote. The two men who came to do the install were friendly and pleasant and took great care in moving our furniture and placing it back where it belonged. They were quick and did a great job! We are so happy with our new carpet. We definitely will use them for any future flooring needs. read more

I received an in home quote a few weeks ago, which was very vague to say the least. When I asked for a break down I never received it. I was told the break down was 50/50 half the cost of a $13,000 plus job was to be broke down between half labor and half materials. But again the measurements and the cost of the material by square foot was never listed or provided to me.Wanted to charge me $3600 a room for laminate flooring. In 2004 they did my whole house in ceramic and carpet flooring for around $20000 plus. I over paid then but thought maybe Id get a decent deal especially as a returning customer. Also ran my credit when they said they wouldn't do so until I put a deposit of $2500 down. Well they ran it anyway affecting my credit score for a job I am not getting done. I emailed both the salesman and the company with no response.... I hope others learn from my mistake and go elsewhere. You can definitely buy the materials alot cheaper at Lowe's or Home Depot and get a laborer for half the price. read more

My boyfriend and I recently had carpet installed by Molyneaux. My first instinct was to call empire (because that's the first commercial I remembered) to get a quote, was on hold forever and finally hung up. Making an appointment with Molyneaux was easy, and the salesperson Tim was very nice. He talked me through everything and measured rooms while I had some time to think on my own. Then he was kind enough to price out a few carpets so I could choose between my top likes. Through the whole process he was extremely helpful without being pushy. The carpet is beautiful and just as I'd hoped. We had painted and done detailing prior and unfortunately when installing some of the paint was chipped and scratched pretty badly in a few spots. I e-mailed to explain my review would be favorable but not perfect and had a call and e-mail back promptly explaining they were very sorry and would like to reimburse for the time and money to do the touch-ups. I explained we weren't expecting money back just felt we needed to be honest in our review. Josh with the service department thanked me and explained they would still like to compensate us and that as always appreciate honesty in their reviews so other customers can be aware and so they can make things right and address customer concerns. We had a good experience overall. The only reason I can not give 5 stars is that the materials were one month late in arriving. I have no reason to believe that this was the fault of the salesman or anyone at Molyneaux, but it did cause some concern. We particularly are appreciative our our salesman, Mr. Clark, who was patient with our selection process. He provided excellent guidance in what would work best with our home. He answered our questions, and was very helpful. We never felt pressured into buying items we did not need. The price was reasonable. The work team did a good job, making a beautiful floor in our old kitchen. This was no easy feat as it is an old house and had suffered from 'do-it-yourself' homeowners throughout its life. We had a good experience, and if I could give 4.75 points, I would - just taking out for the delay in shipping. We plan to use them again in the future for other flooring needs. read more
