Once upon a time I was in great shape, could pump out pushups, deadlift, passed an FBI fitness test, and generally kicked ass. Then I started a business, work at least 12 hours a day, and decided to live on a credit account with my body, planning to repay the loan when there was "more time" in my days. Well, fast forward a few years and I found myself way over my credit limit with nowhere else to borrow from physically. I gained weight, lost all the muscle I had worked hard to build, and now that I am in my 40s, it does not fall off as soon as I decide I want to move around again. Enter Curt and Roundbox. Roundbox is an amazing gym with super fun workouts and machines! The exercises that Curt teaches are really dynamic so they help strengthen a range of muscles. It's smaller compared to the gym franchises around Washington, but his class sizes are small so it feels spacious. Plus, you're using his own designed equipment and they're fun to use! So I had just moved to Seattle from sunny SoCal and found myself in a horrible rut that typically found me on my couch curled up with my dogs and best friend Ben & Jerry's... I think it was right around Halloween when I scrolled by Curt's Facebook ad. I answered and a day or so later heard back from Curt Ligot, and at that point he honestly changed my life. I had pushed the scale at 236lbs, and was being told by my doctor that I had tested with border line diabetes with levels at 6.4. I didn't really have a local support system, knew no one and was starting a new job in a new city and rather down in the dumps. My knees hurt, my back was sore and had gotten real lazy. Living in Kent, I was hesitant on the drive to Beacon Hill to see what Curt was working with. However, I got a good feeling from talking with him and felt a level of comfort so I decided to go in and give it a try, heck it was a free session with a trainer. I had sessions in the past (LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, Bally's, Gold's) with trainers and all were basically the same. Do lots of cardio and train on this program that everyone else they coach are on, and no need to listen to what the client wanted or was telling was ailing them. So to meet with Curt and in one session know this was something I had to put all my heart and soul into, it was different. He listened to me about my aching knees, sore back and all my employees that lead to a daily migraine headache. Obviously abs are made in the kitchen just as much as they are in the gym. But things seemed to happen quicker with LTS. Not only did my knees feel better, I had more energy and desire to eat healthier. I talked to Curt during my sessions on food, and health ideas out of the gym. It was awesome and just as important as the sessions. He gave me tips and pointed out a couple key factors I would've never thought were not the healthiest choices to eat. I could seriously go on and on about how beneficial this program is/was to me. Whether you work with Curt or Jared you will get a great attitude, complete attention, 100% support, motivation, advice and all in an environment that makes you want to learn and grow as a person. Before you know it my twice a week visits went to 4 times a week, and the drive from Kent was never an issue I welcomed it. Working with LTS helped me reduce my body fat from 28% to the 18% range, my doctor flipped out when 9 months later I was testing at 5.3 range and completely in the healthy range, see you later diabetes!! Oh and not to mention I now hover in the 185 - 195lbs in weight, I stayed dessert free for over 200 days with the help of Curt and team. My new lifestyle of exercise and eating healthy is now who I am. Working with LTS has aided in my ability to become stronger both mentally and physically. Most importantly, he believes in me. Having done various exercise programs in the past - power lifting, body building, progressive calisthenics etc I thought I knew what I was doing . . . what Curt knows and has been able to train me on has flipped my whole idea of fitness and athletic performance upside down. The idea of being powerful and moving with fluidity, speed and power has not only made my body move like I am 10 years younger, but is also the most fun and engaging workouts I've ever done! Curt and Jared are nothing short of amazing. The programs that they tailor to their clients (both on-site and remotely) are full-body engaging tune-ups. You can even gain dietary advice and develop better habit in that arena as well. Just what the doctor ordered! I have been working out at Ligot Training for the past 6 weeks and have seen a big change in my overall fitness and health. With only 2 workouts a week I have dropped 15 lbs without changing my diet. Also we do no running, no treadmills and no bikes. Love it! Some of the movements are little different but they work! In my former life I played college football and had several major shoulder injuries that have slowed me down from working out. I would always tweak my shoulders and it would kill my momentum. With Curt and Jared they have kept me safe and my shoulders happy. With their skill and patience I have been able to stay setback free and increase my upper body strength. My core and lower body strength has increased a lot as well. I love getting my work in here. They know when to push and when to hold you back. Its a great environment and a great value. I love this place. Just finished a three-month trial period. Taking a break because I've got too much on my plate this month and I'm struggling with sleep deprivation, but I hope to be back as soon as I finish a major project at the end of the month. At the start of the year, I was looking to shed some holiday weight. I got in touch with Curt. He was super helpful and responsive. He listened to my circumstances and really worked with me to make membership possible. I've been working out 2-3 times per week with Jared, who is both a sweetheart and an ass-kicker! The workout are challenging, my muscles are always sore and the company is awesome. Seriously, I never realized the gym could be so fun. Ligot caps classes at 6 individuals. That intimate environment allows Jared to pay a lot of attention to each person. He's great at tailoring our workouts according to our skill level. As for the exercises, they work out the entire body. The flow and repetition will make you sweat. Lifts, squats, stretches, cardio -- there's a bit of everything in each workout. So.....I've just celebrated my two year anniversary of training with Curt Ligot, first at my gym and then at his own facility on Beacon Hill which he opened last August. Curt's workouts are unique and unexpected.....there are no bench presses or sit ups or curls......each of his exercises focuses on the whole body and the movement of the whole body and, as a result, each exercise strengthens and stretches multiple muscle groups at once. Each time I leave Ligot Training Systems, I feel awesome and strong and powerful and I've been told that I look pretty good.....and not just for a 46 year old! After my first few months, I was looking at myself in the mirror and I turned to my husband, concerned, "what is this weird divot on my side?" I asked. He pointed out that I had one on the other side of my body too......not a six-pack yet, but the first indication that one exists somewhere under the layers. I witnessed a friend transform his body over a couple of months and wondered what his 'secret' was ...turns out he was a client of Curt Ligot. I have always put effort into working out to stay in shape...running, hot yoga, pilates, barre, but I hit a plateau and was just maintaining my body weight. I was not meeting my fitness goals, getting stronger, losing weight or more toned anymore. With Curt Ligot's Training System, I have overcome the plateau and am watching my body become leaner, firmer, stronger and I have so much more energy. Did a 6 week training program with Curt. He was awesome! He is fun to work out with, and I believe that he developed the workouts himself. It's not like other places where the trainers just go through the motions. He always followed up after workouts to make sure my body was in the right place, before we moved on to different things which I thought was a nice touch. The things he has you do is functional type exercise that helps your body feel good through long workdays etc. So you probably won't be doing bicep curls or bench presses when you work out with him. I can't express how grateful I am that I was introduced to this program. A debilitating shoulder injury of 15 years: successfully rehabilitated. I'm stronger, faster, and more coordinated after six weeks than you could imagine after such a short time. As an EMT, I rely on my athleticism to keep myself and others safe. I have been training at Ligot Training Systems for 18 months. Before that I tried several gyms and worked out with several trainers but, never felt like I was learning or gaining anything. A friend of mine invited me to try Ligot Systems and I was hooked immediately, the trainers are knowledgeable and very friendly and they make sure to create a workout that fits your needs. I had bad knees due to my years of playing competitive sports and usually that was the reason I will stop working out, but now my knees feel better than ever and working out is always fun. I never thought that I will have so much fun working out or that I will look forward to my next training day! Ligot Training has created a short but intense workout that focuses on increasing flexibility, endurance and core strength. You are not competing against anyone or timed so you can focus instead on proper form. There is no running, doing traditional free weights, or sitting on bike. After just six sessions I have lost ten pounds and I have increased my flexibility. The atmosphere is laid back, intimate and jovial. There tends to be only three our four people there at any given time and everyone is very supportive. Curt worked miracles for me. I am a life long Seattle runner that loves to run. It is one of my passions and is my favorite mental and physical reward at the end of a long productive day at work. This past spring I somehow managed to hurt my lower back and was not able to run. Every day went by, each week that went by, I desperately hoped that one day I would wake up and I would be healed and back to 100%. I tried massage, I stretched a bit, however that was painful so I decided at least i could still walk and ride my bike...however it is never the same workout and release as my runs. My boyfriend recommended I see Curt. He trained with Curt at the Seattle Athletic Club and at Ligot Training Systems. He convinced me that in talking to Curt about my injury, Curt would get me back on the trail running, however, he couldn't promise how long that might take. I figured since nothing else that I was doing on my own was working I may as well give Curt a shot. Within 3 weeks of training twice a week with Curt, I was back on the trail- running! Although I wasnt able to run as much mileage and pain free, I was back up and on the trail, able to run. I trained with Curt for 6 weeks total, twice a week, and know that he is the reason I am able to run again. My lower back pain started in April and I started seeing Curt in mid August. It was the most painful injury I've ever experienced and the longest time an injury has kept me from running. I couldn't even jog across the street if I needed to, and my lower back pain woud keep me up at night. It was just under 4 months when Curt had me back on the trail. I have been going back into my runs slow and easy and what I noticed made the biggest difference were all of Curt's machines and band exercises. Working with the band exercses is a completely different stretch that opened up my hips like no other stretches. Curt had me doing many different squat exercises with his equipment that helped build strength in my glutes, hips, and leg muscles,, like no other machines or exercises were able to accomplish. I am most grateful that my boyfriend found my cure, and hope that anyone that experiences a sport injury will give Curt a shot.
