I've never been to this place before and loved the outdoor seating area!! The bartenders were pretty friendly. It was a pretty cool place to be on a wed night, the tables outside were all almost full of people! I came here with two friends had drinks and the nachos! Holy nachos!!!! What a nice dive bar. Super cheap (albeit limited options of) food in large portions. Bartenders are surly in the traditional way. The hubby and I got a couple of top shelf gin and tonics, a grilled cheese with potato chips and macaroni salad, and a quesadilla for $30. The grilled cheese in particular was lit! Loaded with cheese, guacamole, and bacon...it was so good. The quesadilla was huge, and came with a ton of guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. Simple, but tasty. We sat out on the patio in the back. It's a big schlep to the bar to get more drinks, but it's worth it. The patio is nice and huge. There's areas that are well covered if it's raining. Bonus to that. My beer cost me but $3. Wells for $4. I was pleased. They have approx. 8-10 fantastic rotating beers on tap and a full bar. 5 stars goes to the huge and spatious patio 4 stars for the pretty decent happy hour for drinks ($3 wells and micro's, $2 PBR tall boys) that go until 8 PM 3 stars for the trivia night on Tuesdays - goes about 2 hours due to the host taking its time for rounds to lapse 2 stars for the food menu - very small and a couple of items were not available due to oven being "broken" or something. Also, no happy hour food special :( 1 star times negative for raw chicken - enough said! Despite some of its flaws, the place is very low key, not very crowded in the patio and usually can always find a table, and cheap drinks for happy hour. Waitress is nice and did take off the raw chicken order off the tab; the cook however is something else. He cooks orders "1 at a time", does not multi -task and kinda rushed off when I told him about the raw chicken. Again, food order at your own risk but the I did hear the grilled cheese was a winner. That and us Yelper's won a $30 and $20 certificate respectfully, deciding factor was the Final Jeopardy question which each group got the bonus question right! read more

Momo's is an unassuming ( not too divey) dive bar, located right next to the downtown library. The nachos are really good, and you get a huge portion! I'd love it if they extended their beer selection and included sours as last time I went they didn't have any. One of my favorite things about this bar are the nice leather chairs in the front, by the windows. Sometimes I see people having a whisky or scotch and reading a book in one of the comfy chairs. No frills bar with strong drinks, leather seating, pool table, and outdoor seating. Four of us stopped by after dinner from Portland Dining Month to shift gears from a long and slow dinner service. We played some pool (takes coins) and got some drinks. All in all, prices are reasonable and the service is good. I've never seen it super busy here which is nice since you don't need to fight for service but you get the same strong drinks and quality of service. Plus, they have local art on the walls. It's a bit secluded from most other bars but if you're already close then it's a good spot to hang out. read more

Easily the best dive bar in SW. The patio is huge and has 2 heated shelters, one with high tops the other with picnic tables. Inside is big booths, $1 pool, and Indiana Jones pinball. Service is the best I've had in a dive bar; Ryan, in particular, deserves a shoutout! Strong drinks and rad food. Some nights they cook a few sheets of bacon to make you hungry! This is one of my go to spots when I need a bar or central meeting place downtown. Their patio is awesome and huge. Even on a colder day they have heat lamps to make it comfortable. If you have a large group of people and wish to sit inside it can be a little difficult. There are only booths and the bar. The booths are on the large side though. If you can snag one of the ones along the wall you should be able to fit 5-6 people. This place has cheap beers, cider, and a full bar. They even allow you to go snag food at the taqueria next door to enjoy on their patio. I always have a great time when I come here! read more

Cheap happy hour drink prices and fast service. Great for groups. Patio looks cool and I'd like to sit out there but it's super smokey from all the smokers who flock to a place with nice seating. Unfortunately; if you're not a smoker your going to be miserable out there. The staff are stand offish and, though attentive, seem to 'play favorites' in the most inexplicable way. Momo is a super chill dive bar with very reasonably priced drinks. They were playing fun 90s music and had the basketball game on. They have cool art on the walls that I think you can purchase but I am not 100% sure. They also have a few pinball games if you are into that. The bar and seating area is pretty big so it would be a great spot of big groups that want to hang and get drinks together. They also have a back porch and seating area with heaters and you can smoke out there, they have ashtrays galore. Overall, Momo is a nice spot to just hang out and have a few drinks. read more

From the street you wouldn't even no its there. It's kind of like a secret garden.... for adults..... with booze. 2. Grilled cheese.... with bacon..... and tomato.... and avocado. 3. The fries are spicy. Not too spicy. The kind of spicy that leaves a little bit of delight on your lips. 4. Great location. downtown, right off the max. 5. Did I mention the patio? I've sat with over a dozen people comfortably. Its huge - way bigger than my apartment. and it's relatively covered, so you can enjoy it relatively year round. 6. one time I saw a young woman vomit all over the patio. at 9 o'clock. she was wasted. it was early. super gross, but super awesome. Terrible customer service. Kind of smells like pee inside. Rude bartenders. I've gotten grief there twice now for bringing my dog to the back patio area. Both instances they told me that there is rat poison back there and they don't want to be responsible for it. I understand that, but my dog is a service animal and I have a prescription to keep her with me at all times. This last time when I explained to them I have a prescription they needed to see it. I walked home and got it to prove my point, but did mention to them that it's completely illegal to ask someone for their prescriptions even when they're for animals. At this point they told me they were not going to serve me and I needed to leave. Completely rude!! I won't be returning even though it's the closest bar to my house. For those of us who have been in Portland long enough to remember the dive bar called "club 1201" on SW 10th avenue a block North of Jefferson, you may not be able to fully appreciate this review, but I will provide more context soon. If you knew the so-called "12-O" and really miss the simple beauty of the no frills quasi-vampire queer friendly last day on earth vibe that it used to exude without even trying, not to mention the cheap drinks, you are in for a treat. If you didn't have the pleasure of experiencing the 12-O, check out its offspring/spin off on the Eastside called "Bar of the Gods", it's a great dive. A suicide landed us at Momo's. Yes, that's really weird, but when somebody jumps off a bridge and shuts down the city's light rail network, drinks are required. Momo's is a dark joint that treads carefully between a dive and a lounge. There's cool art on the walls, tattooed bartenders, and the occasional hipster patron for atmosphere. The highlight here is the back patio. Some reviews have called this patio small, but that's bunk. The patio here is huge, with seating for probably 30 or 40 people with standing room for another 50. One other thing: the bartender called me "hon" and "sweetie" more often than my wife does. She got a big tip. *********** Just for the record, I was there for the raw chicken incident mentioned in some earlier reviews, and while it was revolting, the staff handled it pretty well, so I felt fine coming back. read more

As soon as I walked in this empty bar....and I mean not a soul was in there....the rude ass bartender snapped his fingers at me and asked for my id. I told him I was just going to use the restroom real quick and then I was going to sit down. He seemed in a rush and I wasn't happy. He wanted the id now! I got the id out and he said in a very dickish manner "is there a problem?" what an a-hole! Yeah the problem is your rude attitude! I told him that I have been here a few times and usually everyone is okay but boy did he has something pissing him off. I think it was because I walked in talking on my cell phone. Chill out bro! He then proceeded to tell me to "get off the fucking phone and talk face to face"....I told him no thanks I'll just try and get a hold of the manager to let him know what happened. Some friends and I ended up here after eating dinner downtown. We asked our waiter for his recommendation re. a bar with ample outside seating. He suggested Momo. When we got there, there were a few people waiting outside, and the door guy informed us they were "at capacity" because of fire codes. I'm almost positive this was BS. Just be honest with people so everyone knows why they're really in line. You want to create a sense of exclusivity, or want to give your patrons more space in the bar so they don't feel so cramped. I don't mind waiting in line for that kind of thing--I like space! Own up to it, yo. When we got inside, the line for the bar was obviously pretty short. We had no problem getting drinks. They had a full bar and some local beer on tap. The patio was awesome! They had lots of benches out there with heat lamps (it was kind of a chilly evening in March). The only thing is the smokers really love the patio too, so if you don't love being around a lot of smoke, I'd recommend staying inside. I didn't mind, as most of my friends are smokers and I'm used to it. I'd definitely go back here to chill on their patio with a beer, if I lived in Portland. read more

We arrived at Momo's after a night of pirate-themed, 3D miniature golf at Glowing Greens. After being in the basement of the Hilton, partially in the dark, surrounded by neon and dorky (but funny) statues, Momo's was a breath of fresh air with its spacious back patio with easy seating, and good nachos (heaped with cheese, salsa, guac, sour cream-- everything you need with a beer in your hand). Drinks, by the way, are very reasonable, and the service was really friendly. For a Saturday night, they were busy but not crowded, and we easily found a table outside. Awesome. I can't recommend Momo's more for a relaxed crowd, good food, inexpensive drinks, and a great time. read more

There is an (pardon me) incredibly sexy suicide gal (no offense if that seems like I am typecasting) who's name starts with an "A" I think... she is witty, affable, kind and likes crosswords, with a noticeably absent "hey fuck you" attitude we get with so many hipster types in SF. She is not a hipster, as she is not trying to *be* something. She just is... the hard drinking, possibly chain smoking (but they are like $7 a pack), crossword doing barkeep. Then... there's Phil. Sure I might like to chat about his attitude regarding Somalia pirates being awesome, but frankly this guy is a CLASS ACT. I have rarely met someone like him in the service industry, cheap divey button down and silly tie not withstanding. Frankly.. silly is too strong a word anyway... he looked good. I heard another lady next to me suggest that as fact, so whom am I to judge? From 5 star hotels down to the sub-basement, rotting floorboard shanty shack bar... I have rarely seen someone that is so earnestly eager to remember EVERY SINGLE PATRON'S NAME, as Phil was. Seriously.... the guy did that whole, "hey, what's your name" while repeating what you told him and shaking your hand. I walked in from a local hotel, randomly, and I got the same treatment as the most drunken of locals. I have worked in the service industry for over two decades now (including illegal peanut restocking at bars when I was 9)... I cannot remember the last time, even the best of high end world class barkeeps, shook my hand and asked me my name so they could remember it. On top of that... they apparently have a back patio that I didn't visit because my vice would have had me reeking of nicotine and hunkered down for more hours than I would have liked. I haven't smoked in YEARS.... year upon year... but I am still brainwashed by movies like Casablanca and Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's still cool, I still like it, but I just can't fathom the taste anymore. Or the rotten, putrid long term smell. so. I have rambled.
