Bear Down Chicago Bears!! My husband and I recently discovered Jerry's Tavern and are now hooked. This place is the spot to go if you are a Bears fan. The bartenders are great and very efficient. They have a good amount of televisions in the bar as well as two outside. Jerry's has all sorts of fun signs and sports gear hung on every square inch of the walls and ceiling. Seems like the bar has been up and running since the 70's but I belive it's only been there a few years. The only criticism I have for Jerry's is the food selection. I don't eat meat and can't eat cheese. The only thing I can typically eat are the fries. The fries are super tasty but sometimes if I'm there for a long time I want something more substantial. Being a native cheddar head, Jerry's was a mental trip back to the motherland! Walking in we were welcomed and grabbed a booth. They took our drink order at the table, and we ordered food up at the bar. We got some cheese curds and I tried a burger. The cheese curds were fantastic, the breading had a great little zest that took them up a notch. The burger was fresh and juicy, with the bun being nice and fresh. I did get onions on it after asking for none, I'll have to be more clear next time. Other than that, the meal was great. Great food, great service! read more

Jerry's Tavern feels like a Tavern you see in movies and TV. People hanging out and drinking in a somewhat small shop and having a good time. I came mid-week and they were busy. They have $2 beer cans, $2 jello shots ($3 for the malort one) and $5 shots. Prices go up. Food menu was bar food-ish but, fairly priced and selection was big enough that you can find something to eat if hungry. It's not typical bar food but, it's got a few options. I came for the wings. They were decent sized and meaty. Picked the BBQ sauce and it was a bit different, more tangy than sweet. read more

I have heard about this place...so thought I would finally try and was very happy we did! Of note...this is definitely a dive bar with bar food so keep that in mind when you come here...but it is a top notch dive bar with friendly staff, nice patrons, good food at a good price and great drinks! My wife had the wings and I had the chili dog...both were tasty for bar food. And the drinks have a good pour at a reasonable price. We will definitely come back here!! read more

First time trying this place. Heard the wings were pretty good and had to try them out. Wings were amazing. Buffalo sauce was just right IF you can handle spicy food. If not, may have a few drinks before ordering them. Service was fast and friendly. Great selection of music. People were awesome. Legend has it Jerry himself comes to the bar from time to time. I didn't try the food, so I couldn't really vouch for that. There is a limited menu, so if you are vegan eat before you go. There was no table service and I didn't go to the bar to order. It is popular with fans of Wisconsin and Illinois sports fans in particular. I am from the Midwest and it is definitely your typical midwestern bar. The cheese curds weren't the real deal, but I think they ran out of the proper curds. The place was really crowded, so super popular. Was very surprised with how good the wings were, particularly the Buffalo. The burger/slider was also nice and worth it. The fry on wings was fantastic. Didn't try the dip as usually don't with my wings. They mainly show bears and packers games so if looking for another game while those are going on then might be sol. They actually come to your table for service and are great (Jerry was actually our server for the first half we were there). Not your normal portland "service" which was awesome to experience again. Is a smaller place but they have a couple tvs outside with sidewalk seating however if going for a packers or bears game then probably need to get there early, we showed up right after one so were all good but they were sold out of modelo especial (plenty of other choices to choose from). Was excited to try this place out until the owner sent me a shitty response after I said I'd never seen a bar do anything like this and asked if people who don't like to wear sports gear aren't real fans. I'm doing this place one story due to the fact that they added five extra dollars in my charge without letting me know. My total was $27 and I have proof that it was $27. They decided to charge me $32. I called and let them know about the charge to figure out why there was an extra five dollar charge. They said they will get back to me, and they never did. I called again and they said that it was an overcharge and that the money will be put back and it never was. I would not recommend this place unless you want to get scammed unless you want them to add extra tip that they do not deserve because the service was not really that great. I wonder what other shady things they are doing to customers. And I will definitely be reporting this to my bank and maybe authorities. read more

Hands down the best sports bar in PDX. I went last weekend to watch some playoff football and the vibes were incredible. Jerry, the owner, was greeting everybody and making sure everyone was taken care of. We even got the whole bar to chant "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!" lol. The food was great too! If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would! I came to this bar expecting to enjoy some wings and a good time, but what I experienced was shocking and unacceptable. From the start, the bartender was rude, dismissive, and seemed to hate his job. Whether he was having a bad day or just naturally had a nasty attitude, his behavior was completely unprofessional. After ordering a drink, we placed a food order and then were inexplicably told we couldn't order another drink. When I politely asked why, the bartender looked me up and down, then walked away without an explanation. As a Hispanic person, I couldn't help but feel this was racially motivated, especially since it was only 6:30, and I had only ordered one drink. To make matters worse, someone alerted "Jerry" (who appeared heavily intoxicated, stumbling around, and embarrassing himself). Instead of resolving the issue, Jerry told us the bartender "has his reasons" and refused to elaborate. I took a photo to warn others about what I now firmly believe to be a racist establishment. When I left, Jerry followed me outside, yelling profanities and behaving aggressively. In a final insult, he turned to my white friend, smiled, and said, "You can come back anytime," before handing her drink tokens. This place is not just unprofessional--it's downright discriminatory. I went to Jerry's tonight to watch Monday night football. Great atmosphere and my order was taken promptly. After about 45 minutes the patron who ordered a little before me asked if they could check on her order. The bartender said it's a one man kitchen and it should be out shortly. I assumed my order would be out shortly after that order, so I didn't bother asking about it. After an hour and forty five minutes I kindly asked for them to take the wings off my order and close me out. Not sure I will ever go back or recommend Jerry's in the future. read more
