It made my boyfriend so uncomfortable that he actually left and went outside just to get away from it. Instead of calming things down, she got more aggressive and tried to intimidate me and my friend into leaving. She straight up told us to go and wouldn't even let me finish my martini. I had a long week and just wanted to relax, and that moment felt so unnecessary and frustrating. We still love Kitsch Bar, but that experience with Sofia was not okay and definitely left a bad impression. Hopefully it's not something others have to deal with.

I am posting this because something extremely suspicious happened with my review of Momo's Grill & Hookah (2626 Dupont Dr, Irvine, CA 92612). My original review was not simply a complaint about mediocre food. It described how completely fucked up and discriminatory my treatment felt. I believed I was singled out, disrespected, and treated differently from other customers because of my perceived race or ethnicity. The way the staff treated me felt openly hostile and racist, and I left the restaurant feeling humiliated and unwelcome. That is why I took the time to write a detailed negative review describing my experience. That real review has now completely disappeared from Momo's Yelp page. Even worse, my account now displays a fake five-star review for Momo's that I did not write, edit, or authorize. It reads: "Very pleased with Momo's Grill & Hookah. Food was delightful, service was prompt, and the atmosphere calming. A truly enjoyable visit, I'll return soon." To be 100% clear: * I never wrote those words. * I never gave this restaurant five stars. * I never praised its food, service, or atmosphere. * I never said I would return. * My actual review described treatment that I believed was racist and discriminatory--the complete opposite of this fabricated praise. This was not me changing my mind. My detailed criticism about allegedly discriminatory treatment disappeared, and a glowing five-star review appeared under my username instead. I do not yet know whether someone connected to Momo's manipulated the system, whether my Yelp account was compromised, or whether Yelp somehow allowed this to happen. What I know is that Momo's directly benefited from an extremely serious complaint disappearing and being replaced with fraudulent praise. Yelp must investigate who created or edited this review, remove it, restore my original review, and provide a clear explanation of how this happened. Until then, potential customers should treat Momo's rating and reviews with extreme caution. You know, when you've reached a certain level of success, you don't expect to be taken for a ride, especially not at a place like Momo's Grill & Hookah. But let me tell you, the audacity of these people! Everything started out fine. The food, I'll admit, was above average. But the moment night fell, it was like they turned into a different beast. Prices changed at night. They had the nerve to add a random tax and charged me $4 for a bottle of water! Can you believe that? They thought I wouldn't notice. Well, I did. And it's not about the money. It's about the principle! The scum of this earth, that's what they are. They put on such a disgraceful image for all Arabs. It's not like there's an Arab hookah lounge on every corner. Is there sushi and Asian food everywhere? Yes. But the one place representing Arabs? Absolutely disgraceful. Don't get me wrong. I'll be back in six months. And if that guy who served me is still there, I'll not only buy out the store but make sure every staff member is held accountable. Not even a year ago, another restaurant treated my family like dirt. I inadvertently bought out the old place that was there and replaced it. And guess what? They're gone now, & we have Aria Kitchen. I want to preface this by saying I did not eat here, but based on my experience with who I believe is the owner or someone in charge, I felt it was important to share. This restaurant is located in a small shopping center where parking is already very limited. I was visiting a different business nearby and pulled into the lot, where I noticed two cars double parked. As I was waiting for a legitimate spot to open up, I saw a car leaving and turned on my blinker to take it. At that point, a man who had been standing on the sidewalk smoking a cigarette suddenly jumped up and aggressively motioned for me to keep driving. I shook my head no, as I was clearly waiting for the open spot. He then ran to his car (which had been double parked), pulled out abruptly, and cut me off to take the space. I rolled down my window and told him that I had been waiting with my blinker on and that he was not even in his car. He began yelling at me, attempting to justify his behavior by saying this was his place of work. Despite that, his actions were completely inappropriate and unnecessarily aggressive. He sped into the spot, cutting me off entirely, and continued muttering toward me afterward. Overall, he was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Based on this interaction alone, I would be hesitant to support any business where someone representing it behaves this way. read more

Momo's Grill & Hookah deserves way more credit than it gets! The staff here were beyond nice and honestly more attentive than some of the nicest five-star restaurants I've been to. The hookah, especially the Lady Killer, was really good, and the kebab with rice was delicious too. The ambiance is super chill, especially on a nice day. The only minor annoyance was having to use a bathroom code since it's a shared space, but that's no big deal. Plus, if you're not feeling Mediterranean food, they're conveniently located next to a bunch of ramen spots, so you can mix things up--grab some hookah and then hit up a ramen stand. Horrible customer service I was freezing and I asked them for the fire all night they wouldn't bring it out also I asked for tea for 20 min till they finally brought me a cold one and they told me if I want a new one I have to pay for another one never again! Mmmm man oh man do they have the best tasting Carnitas. Sweet and delicious! The pork literally melts in your mouth, and will give your taste buds a kick. You can order the pork as an entree (best way to have it), a bowl (on the run meal), tacos, sliders, you can even get creative and wrap the Carnitas like a gyro!! We finally asked if we could sit anywhere and were just told "yes." We sat outside and waited quite a while before anyone came to take our order. We ordered a Blue Mist hookah and it had almost no flavor -- it tasted like it had already been smoked for an hour. No one checked on us, so my husband had to get up and find the manager to ask for a replacement. We switched to Double Apple and it was the same thing: basically flavorless. We asked for water and the manager dropped off bottled water without saying anything. It's really frustrating when you're not told upfront that there's no free water. If I'm paying for a drink anyway, I would've preferred tea. Once again, we had to track down the manager to ask him to swap it out for tea. We also ordered a combo kebab platter. The presentation was nice, but the food itself was average. The meats were decent, but the hummus was pretty bad. To top it off, the guy who had been standing at the host stand (who we later realized worked there) sat at a nearby table watching videos loudly on his phone while we were eating. Super annoying and unprofessional. Overall, poor service and food that didn't really deliver. Not a place I'd rush back to.

The staff is very friendly- they take the time to acknowledge you even when busy, and they will take your order despite the registers being self service sufficient. The food is hit or miss. The falafel was small and overcooked, but I personally enjoyed the potatoes and hummus. The pita is standard, and I do not know if was made in location or bought premade, but I wish that the half came with the bowl. (It's possible that it comes with the plates, but I did not see it on the menu). For its price and quality, I probably wouldn't return if there were more local options to choose from.
