It had been years since I popped into the Kitsch bar. I decided to end my 11 month sabbatical from alcohol to do my part to support our local watering holes while everyone else is doing the whole "dry January" BS! I actually didn't know this place had been redone. I liked the old setup but I loved that we were able to sit at the bar. We got to chatting with bartenders Narissa and Britney who were legit the best bartenders I've come across in OC besides Brandi at Ren's Social House in Tustin! If you aren't sure what to order, I recommend you try their signature cocktails because they're delicious! F Brandon is there say what's up to him too! He's super cool. I didn't know they have karaoke here on Wednesday nights so we will be back!!!!

Went here for the first time with my friend and we had a blast. It was a Sunday night so we sang so many karaoke songs and even got a free drink for singing. Juan was our bartender and he was so funny to talk to. There was not a dull moment that night and we even got him to sing a song lol. Our drinks were good too! I was driving so I didn't drink much but my friend drank for the both of us hahaha.

The female bartender is super nice and efficient. This is more of a chill bar, kind of small and cozy, dark. Unisex single bathrooms. In the plaza with insit/the vape store, so going later benefits you more because tight parking. Surprisingly they have an open karaoke night on Sunday with a hostess. The crowd when we went chose a lot of old time classics. I think this is fit for an older crowd or couples who want a chill evening, not too rowdy, floors not sticky, and has a decent selection of drinks rather than a pregame or if you want to go out and drink with friends. They even have a happy hour at night. The bartender is talented in making drinks and this is probably one of the bars where you can build a relationship with the bartenders to experiment with your drinks. We didn't feel pressured or rushed at all. I see they already do this, but if I wanted to attract younger guests, they have a pretty good dj booth set up (maybe like a rnb night or boiler room vibes) w/ special cocktails and adding a photo booth, or partnering with a social club. I would think its quite a bookable venue too. Overall, seems like a bar for the community.

Environment was great. Dimly lit and a disco ball over the dance floor displaying great club rotating colors throughout the bar. Clientele was cheerful and diverse all of which proved to be having a great time. Drinks were good and prices were surprisingly low for a night out. Bartenders were friendly and quick. The five stars was difficult to give because I would have preferred a bit more variation in music but that is just a personal preference and I am old at 54 (almost 55 lol) but I did know most of the music and did a lot of couch dancing and could barely keep from getting out on the dance floor. You can dress up or down and fit in. All-in-all this new find was a positive for us. We will be back for sure!

It's a diamond in the rough. Juan, the bartender, draws me there. He sets a remarkable example for how to treat the clientele. He's interesting, engaging and has a gift for making exceptional cocktails! The music is diverse and eclectic, very reflective of the atmosphere. It's a unique place to chill out or dance the night away. Juan makes a ridiculously good Gin Old Fashioned! Make sure you pitch yourself up at the bar when he's there. Side note, he has a wicked sense of humor that will have you laughing out loud.

Went in and it's such a vibe! I do NOT know how to seriously order a cocktail... but I wanted to try one. I usually order beer. I asked the bartender Juan, and he didn't make me feel dumb about asking... just asked what I liked and he said... he knew exactly what I would like, and yes! So Delicious! I work nearby so definitely will be coming back and getting the name of that drink! So good!

We love Kitsch Bar and have always had a good time here, which is why this was so disappointing. The bartender, Sofia, completely ruined the vibe for us. She was rude and came off really disrespectful, and at one point said things that felt degrading. It made my boyfriend so uncomfortable that he actually left and went outside just to get away from it. Instead of calming things down, she got more aggressive and tried to intimidate me and my friend into leaving. She straight up told us to go and wouldn't even let me finish my martini. I had a long week and just wanted to relax, and that moment felt so unnecessary and frustrating. We still love Kitsch Bar, but that experience with Sofia was not okay and definitely left a bad impression. Hopefully it's not something others have to deal with. read more

No food. The bartender was very nice and she let us try a few samples of the beers on tap since we couldn't decide which one to have. It's a cute little bar. Clean and nicely decorated. It was quiet enough to have conversations inside, which is nice. There was karaoke that night but nobody was singing when we were there. read more

Parking is in a shared lot, found some with no issues. Inside has nice decor, dark & a nice vibe. They had a DJ on a Tuesday night which was nice. I got a Moscow mule which was tasty. Service was fast & friendly. read more

Kitsch is one of my favorite bars in Costa Mesa. Perhaps I'm biased because I worked down the street and love the neighborhood. Depends on the day, there's either nowhere to sit or all the tables are open, I forget the name of it he cool bartender who told us how to park when we return and it was nice to have that secret info. Only taking one star off for the day I returned with a friend in the afternoon and a different bartender seemed to overcharge for the drinks. I will be back for sure for one of their events. read more

Stopped into this bar. It had a full parking lot but I still found a spot. The inside is clean and easy to get around. The bar is nice and the drinks are very good. The service was on it when i visited. I have to say you have to try this spot out at least once. Give them a try i am sure you will be back like me. read more

Hanging out late in OC and want a low key last stop? This is it. No scene, no stress....just a chill spot with strong drinks that don't mess around. Parking is easy, the vibe is relaxed, and it feels like a place locals actually go instead of somewhere trying too hard. Looking for a dive bar? Then look no further. Came here on a Saturday night around 9pm and the place had only a few tables taken up, plenty of bar space. Music was really good. 90's hip hop and R&B which is my jam so I was loving it. Sofiea was our bartender and she took great care of us. We ordered a couple of rounds and only told her what spirit we wanted and she whipped up some delicious drinks. Her drinks were a reflection of her and so she made sure we enjoyed our drinks. Pretty cool and hard to find from a bartender these days. Gave us the feel that we were regulars but it was actually our first time here! We will definitely come back. read more

So much fun! Went on a Saturday when they had a DJ playing 2000's R&B and hip-hop. Make sure you have plenty of change as if you lay a $20 down it's hit and miss if they bring back change and drinks are a little pricy. But definitely would go back. Note average age group is probably late 20' to late 40's. read more

Out Homegirl was djing last Thursday night and it was an absolute blast It's a quaint little place with a busy parking lot so beware but I love that they do have fortaleza. BONUS POINTS! Service was excellent. Shoutout to the bartenders for taking care of us and they have a cool little keg urinal in one of the bathrooms. Very creative! There wasn't any food but we did buy some chips across the street and I brought them in haha! If I'm ever in the area for a dope little dive bar I'm always down to visit. Especially after some manpuku or kitakata. read more

This is hands down my FAVORITE bar in California. Not only is the owner rod absolutely fantastic, but the entire staff is wonderful. I've been coming here for 10 years and never had a bad experience. Great priced drinks, safe, fun, great music, and just a well put together place. 1000000/10 would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Overcharged and bullied by Juan. Ambiance and bar patrons were great all night, but service was definitely lacking. Juan also under poured every drink I ordered. 1.25 oz is not a shot guy. I didn't mention it because we were trying to have a good time, but i think someone needs to learn their counts if they aren't going to use jiggers. This was my first time at kitsch bar and my last. I'll be sure to let everyone know about the discriminatory service they provide. I'm shocked to see such a high rating on here. Must've been pre-Juan days.. read more

Amazing service and atmosphere! The bartender Sofia greeted us upon entry, and we instantly felt welcomed. We sat down and had a few drinks talking amongst ourselves and other patrons, ultimately having a fantastic time. Absolutely recommend this spot. read more

Found this place on Yelp because it was one block from my hotel. I walk in and they have happy hour til 8 and karaoke too! Where do you get a bottle of beer for $4 in OC?! On top of that an amazing bartender named Britney who also sang great. A very cool small dive bar. read more

Haven't been here in years, and the new remodel is really nice. Selection is great, and so is the service. Will definitely come back some other time when in the area. Parking can be terrible on a busy night with other popular restaurants in the area. read more

Established in 2001.

Kitsch bar opened December 5th 2001. We used the down time of the pandemic to pivot into kitsch 2.0. As of November 2021 kitsch has been remodeled from top to bottom. Come check out the new raised ceilings and circle bar. We added TVs to watch sports while maintaining that old school kitsch vibe that everyone loves so much. Hope to see you back soon.

I was lucky enough to stumble across this gem of the center of OC when they first opened - and I am proud to be a regular here. I don't know how to go somewhere else - because I feel like the staff are giant gems in this jewel of a spot. Winters is a curator of boozy information that has helped me learn about "gin" and "root beer whiskey" so I can sound like an adult-ish purveyor, when really I know close to nothing except being a willing student to his creations. Dan the Man and Jacob always see me raise my hand in the corner of the bar, like the student I am, and have been willing to fill in the blanks for me when I know I am of thirst, but do not have the words for what to order. Every person working in the well has treated me with kindness - they have taken the time to get to know me, and I will be forever appreciative of how they have taken care of me over the years. But the real joy has been the transformation that this spot has for building a community of people in Santa Ana for real recognizing real. I have been bringing my Dad with me to play pool for the past few years. Sometimes people ask me if he plays professionally, I am terrible, and my skill incline is slow, he is patient and plays with the same level craftiness that the staff offer the cocktails. My Dad is always stoked when we have time to go have a few hours of games at 616 - especially now that there are regulars on 4th street that are excited to see that he is there playing - and they rush to write their names on the chalkboard to challenge him - or beat him in a game they really earned the W. On lazy Sundays, I watch couples sit with their drink, listening to Jazz, and watching my Dad whoop my ass while making amazing shots. I am forever grateful to Memo who sometimes takes a break from his shift behind the bar to give my dad an actual challenge - which allows me the chance to watch my Dad enjoy fellowship around the table. Knowing the table was a relic of the bars former self, and knowing the history that this spot has in Santa Ana is a reminder that so much around us can change - but it is those moments of the crack of the rack, the cheer of getting the combo shot, and the shake of hands when it's over that shows that it's not just about the pool table - but about the energy of a place that is welcoming and curated by people who care about what they do - and care about who comes through their doors. The filet was also cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and tender. All our veggies were tasty and fresh. They have a ton of cocktails, wine, and beer to choose from. The drinks we got were made well and delicious. I will absolutely go back often especially to try their other seasonal menus.

It's all about the reasonable prices during happy hour!! Oh, and the fact that they do a late HH is just brilliant. Really. They used to have a 8-10 every night but I guess (we found out last night) that they have changed their happy hour hours to 7-9 on the weekends. Kinda lame, but still totally on board. $3 beer $3 wines $3 wells and, yes, $3 shots. Yes, please and thank you! The place is cheesy and cool and dark (as in mostly black) but super comfy as it is mostly couches and stuffed chairs so you can latch on to a nice little conversation area if you get there early enough. Another bonus! Hard to find because there isn't any real signage except on the door but worth looking for. Decent bar crowd mix and no one was obnoxious at all. :) read more

I've been coming here randomly the past few years, and every time i come in its always been a good experience. The place is pretty dark and small. Its more of a locals spot to hang out. their happy hour is one of my favorite. its from 8-10pm. usually happy hour ends around 8 but theirs start when everyone else ends, which is great to keep your buzz going. i usually get vodka/cran and its about $3. im not sure about how much the other drinks cost. Late nights here are always fun. they have a live dj spinning. theres no dance floor but somehow drunk girls find a way to dance around all the chairs and tables. read more

One of the best bars if not the best in OC. The DJs are always really good here. Some nights its hip hop sometimes its electronic. On Friday nights they are promoting DIVE CLUB it always has a really good crowd. The drinks are really cheap and strong here. I always feel like I get a nice heavy pour vs a skimpy one. For as long as I remember, there's always been one bar I keep coming back to every week - and that is The Kitsch. It's the kind of bar where my friends and I come to converse and enjoy each others company without the hassles of the typical bars/clubs/lounges in OC. Love the happy hour special! This would have had 5 stars, but since Josh, the amazing Wed. night Dj has left, my experiences will never be the same at Kitsch. I do have to say that Will the bartender is fabulous. He pours my drinks nice and strong and even pulled out the Absinthe contraption on my birthday. Good man! The atmosphere is wonderfully chill. The only thing that I would say is a bit annoying is the configuration of the chairs. Sometimes it's a bit of a pain to navigate through if they are all taken. read more

Been to Kitsch Bar many a times and it's my favorite spot in Orange County, hands down. The ambiance and vibe is always chill with a diverse crowd young and old. The craft cocktail and beer selection is always choice. They always have great dj's playing digital and old school vinyl formats with room to dance and plenty of booths and chairs to chill in. I have been to Kitsch bar a few times and let me say this place is very mellow and cool. Dave the bartender always hooks it up proper and I usually have a blast with my friends. Cool place to just hang out for a little bit, bring a hottie, or just preparty before hitting up a club. This place used to have a manager who kicked me out the bar for asking him if he'd ever picked his ear and smelled the wax on his finger. I know that sounds kinda gross but I was calmly sitting at my table with a couple girlfriends and just jokingly proving the point to a couple girlfriends that guys scratch and sniff. Love this place. It's great to just sit back with friends/a date/etc and chill. I've only really been for happy hour on weeknights, which is great. It's about half-price for the already cheap drinks. On average, I pay less than $10 for a round of four drinks. And I love how they project movies on the wall behind the bar, especially the Sean Connery James Bond films. read more
