This is a really nice place, and even the guests are so welcoming when walking in. If you like strong coffee, this is not the right place to get one. Make sure you check in to get a free cookie.

Yes, it's the real deal- the actual small town corner bakery you might have read about in old novels. But it's 2021 now, and Mom is serving up old-fashioned sandwiches on freshly baked fluffy bread. They offer a WiFi connection and will share their printer if you need it. There is a well-stocked Little Free Library just inside the door. If you decide to set a spell to read, or chat with the locals, you should order one of the pastries to go with your coffee . We scored a pair of delicious cookies to take on the road. In summary, we most definitely shall return. BTW, If you can find the Watermelon Thumping arena, you are only a few steps away from this fine bakery.

A local favorite for coffee and bite to eat. I had a lettuce wrap. For lunch today and it was so pretty! I know that seems silly, but it was. And it tasted great too. I asked for light mayonnaise and they did it perfectly. The owner, Gretchen, was there and she really is a Mom kind of character. All the staff was friendly. It was fun to be told "I AM the menu" when I asked what they had. Besides Ice creams and about any kind of fancy coffee you can think of they have a limited menu of incredibly fresh food. The counter girl Asked a few questions and guided quickly to my selection. It really was fun. That food was great too! The bread is fresh baked every morning and the cookies are fresh baked throughout the day. No day old stuff is sold here. Now, I must go get a warm out of the oven oatmeal cookie, I could smell them baking and I think they just finished.

Love in the time of Covid-19.... all you need is to open the door of this Main Street, well loved little bakery and you'll be wrapped in the aroma of fresh baked bread and memories of sweet times at grandmas house in the country. Staying at the nearby state park, Yelp did not disappoint bringing us here! Though we couldn't dine-in, there were a few chairs on the sidewalk in the shade and we had the cool experience of watching a train speed by as we enjoyed our lunch. We had the chicken salad garden salad, it was refreshing and delicious; just the right serving size for lunch! Our server said it wasn't so popular, but it SHOULD BE! Worth the stop, and had we not been following keto, oh the bread, I'm sure, it would've been magical!

Great little stop in Luling! We were passing by and I just happened to look on Yelp and see they had a lot of great reviews so we stopped in for lunch. Good sandwiches on yummy bread. The muffins and chocolate chip cookies were tasty too! They have a selection of sandwiches and bakery goods and ice cream. Quaint and small-town diner feel. All the employees were very nice and attentive.

We love coming here on our trips between Houston and San Antonio of the Hill Country. Their bread is baked fresh and cut thick. Just like in days gone by. The crest is well baked, yet thin and can easiest peel away. Yet you still have this thick soft bread to sink your teeth into. It's so worth it to spend some time here instead of the larger chain stores on the highway. The tomatoes are fresh and today you can tell we're ripened in the vine. Their sweetness reminds me of home garden raise vegetables. The way we were meant to enjoy food. Save room for a cookie or their small batch ice cream. Expect to be greeted with a smile and a friendly hello from everyone. This is a real good charming place to visit

Mom's Front Porch amazed me again. Today I asked if they can make an open faced chicken salad sandwiche. And delivered they did! Super fresh !

I found Mom's Front Porch at the recommendation from the skydiving staff a couple miles away. It was a blustery day so we had time to kill while waiting for our skydive. We were greeted by the most lovely staff, including the owner Gretchen. The blueberry muffin was my favorite but the banana crisp was good as well. The coffee is pretty good and goes well with their delicious pastries! Definitely a must-visit-locale if you find yourself in Luling, TX.

We did a day trip to Luling. Stopped at Mom's Front Porch for ice cream. It was some of the best ice cream w large scoop for 2.75. They will even let you do 2 flavors and split it for the same cost. What a cute place to stop if your hungry. Tanna was so sweet and let us basically try every flavor

Chicken salad sandwich on homemade fresh bread, homemade cookies made fresh this morning, and handmade lemonade!

I just moved into some of the offices down the road and with the watermelon thump going on I didn't want to trek very far for food... I noticed this little cozy storefront with people enjoying themselves outside, and decided I'd pop in after hearing about fresh homemade sweets. It was easily the best decision I could have made! Gretchen and the other lovely people behind the counter were warm and welcoming and made me feel right at home at Mom's Front Porch. The chicken salad sandwich is delicious, the chocolate chip cookies are to die for, and the lemonade is PERFECT on such a warm day. They'll definitely be seeing a lot more of me! I can't wait to go back for ice cream and coffee!!

Well, there's another one called "City Market" that skipped right past me. Or, no one thought to tell me. It's one or the other because this place is pretty popular with lines out the door! So I heard about City Market BBQ, the same day I drove to Luling, Texas! It's an hour outside of Austin. City Market is in the downtown area, and parking was a breeze; the line I saw on the sidewalk coming from City Market, I must admit, was long, but it was a breeze, too. Now, this is on Wednesday, not the weekend. I hopped in line, the line moving fast. People are friendly, telling me that once I'm inside, there's another door I will go into to place my order. I like to call this the secret door with all the good smells of smoky barbecue. Check out my pictures of the secret door; you can't even see inside. I'm there, I made it inside, and there's 3 of the most friendly older gentlemen I will ever meet in my life. One of them caught on that I haven't been in a kitchen, never in my life, when he started asking if I wanted 1/4 of brisket. I whispered, "Give me three or four, because I'm not good at math either." Oh, we had a great laugh! I sat down, picked on a rib, and the meat slid from the bone! It was so tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The skin had the right burnt in the right spots. The meat was moist and easy to chew. I was like the Flintstones cleaning the bones before I bit into my sausage and brisket. The sausage was very good, and my brisket was smoky, like my ribs. I have to brag about the sauce. It came in a skinny bottle. It was a new flavor for me; it wasn't spicy, but it had a nice heat to it that I loved! I'm so happy I chose to ride down to Luling to visit City Market as soon as I heard about this BBQ place. I would have been so mad at myself if I had waited and forgotten!

City Market in Luling was established in either 1957 or 1958, depending on the source. The…read morerestaurant's own website says "Established in 1958," and most historical references use 1958. So as of 2026, the barbecue place is about 68 years old. It's considered one of the classic old-school Central Texas barbecue joints and still operates much like a traditional meat-market-style BBQ house. This is an older building, including bathrooms... One of which was not working. Was disappointed that their sides include potato salad, and beans only because when I go to barbecue, I love Colliard greens, potato salad, beet salad, etc. not available here. The brisket slice I had likely the best piece of brisket I've ever had in my life. Now... Don't go crazy. I don't eat brisket typically when I do barbecue. The rib that I had was decent. The sausage I had by comparison to other barbecue places was unfortunately the worst that I've ever had. I'm not sure what grind they use, but it seems like it was more beef and somewhat sweet to my pallet which I personally don't care for in sausage. Overall, if I just wanted brisket, I would return but next time I'm in Luling I likely will go to the place right next-door to them and try them.

This time instead of exploring their packaged snack products I thought about how much room we have left in our car and flying it home so I decided against it. I did buy 3 of their small cup size Blue Bell dark chocolate ice cream- for all of us but the cashier gave only one spoon. It tasted so good I had hubs go get me a large size one since I didn't eat a normal lunch and it was past 5 pm. While I waited in the car with the grandpup. I wanted to find some Bucee items for Doc since she's been our road trip driver plus made all the arrangements for hotels, tickets to parks, dinner show, etc. We all got different things: hubs got small bags of jerky, Doc got her favorite brisket sandwich to share with her Frenchie, a sausage on a stick and 3 peach cobblers for each of us to try. I like the large amount of clean restroom stalls plus soap. The cone of warmed sugary pecans and cinnamon bites were a sweet snack- finally gone from the first Buc-ee's a week ago. Possibly an unpopular opinion, but... my last visit here was less than satisfactory. We grabbed lunch on our way to Houston. Our lunch consisted of brisket sandwich, chicken tenders & fries, and the three meat sandwich. I'm pretty sure their meat is not a true cut of brisket. Its consistency is like mush, and not like muscle fibers. There was nothing lean brisket vs fatty brisket. The brisket had holes throughout, making it look even more like an ultra processed deli meat or even lab grown. I was disgusted, to say the least. They also have ZERO options for people conscious of the ingredient lists. We bought popcorn and the bag was open at the bottom. I opted the top and it was super stale. I realized it was open on the bottom and the store game me a hard time about exchanging it. It's pretty clear the sealing process failed for this bag. We won't be shopping here anymore, nor will we eat their food. But if you're visiting Texas and come across one, it's a fun stop to pass time.
