A friend recommended Front Row Sports as a place to talk to about solutions to this painful issue. Now, almost a year later I finally made it over to Union Road. I took my old skates (like 40+ years old) and really expected that I'd have to buy new ones. The two young guys at the tech counter (born well after my skates first were out on the ice) were incredibly understanding and it turned out that the issue was most likely just having really stiff laces and not skipping one lace hole over the top of my foot. The guys were actually really complimentary of my old skates (which were high end back in the day) and said they'd never recommend I get a new pair if they could help it. I got a sharpening too and my total bill was under $20.00. The whole experience was great, and I am not, and do not look like, some cool hockey kid. I'd worried that they'd ignore me when they realized I wasn't in the market for lots of gear, but I really felt like a valued customer. If I every need anything hockey related I'll definitely go back to Front Row on Union Road.

I had previously tried getting fitted at several other shops in my home state without success, so I was hopeful, but skeptical going into this visit. My experience here could not have been better. Despite the store being extremely busy, Rob took an incredible amount of time with me and fit me into eight different pairs of skates. And when I say "fit," I mean thoroughly, every single pair was baked, and I walked in each one while trying different lacing techniques to ensure the best possible fit. This process took several hours, and he had me try every major brand and price point out to find the perfect combination. Rob then stayed 45 minutes past closing time to finish the fitting and even spent additional time after I left punching out a few hot spots on the boots. When I returned to pick up my skates the next day he again took the time to ask detailed questions about my skating style and to explain skate profiling and what would work best for me. The level of knowledge, patience, and dedication shown to me was honestly incredible. If I could give 10 stars, I would. If you need skates or any hockey equipment, do yourself a favor and come here, you will not be disappointed.

I was holding my husband's hat (which he just bought at the stand upstairs) and he was looking for a jersey. She came over to us and just stood there staring, kept looking at my hands as If I was stealing the hat he had just purchased or something. She didn't say a word just stood there for a good 5 min. Finally, she chimed in when he was trying on a jersey and said that one's good. Mind you the store was packed w at least a few hundred more people she can walk around to after I already told her we were good, she still just stood there and stared. I was so pissed off I should have said something right there, but our kids were with us. She was definitely racial profiling- and its a shame bc we are both very well put together and have never stolen anything in our lives--he didn't deserve that.

Spartan Discs has one of the best selection of disc golf discs, bags, and accessories in the WNY…read morearea. Kevin & Nichole (aka Mama & Papa Spartan) are two of the nicest people you'll meet. They go above & beyond to help grow the sport in this area- including spearheading the fundraising and installation of red tee pads at Como Lake Park in Lancaster. They have a very active social media presence and post as soon as they receive shipments. They're always happy to set aside a disc or two for you. Also, they accept drop-offs of discs that you may find while on the course and will reach out to the number on the disc to get it returned. If you're a female or beginner getting into disc golf, Spartan has a section of lightweight discs available which are usually easier to control & throw than heavier or higher speed discs. I do find their prices to be a little higher than other stores carrying disc golf supplies. And the presence of vape in the store is a bit off-putting. But, those things aside, it's definitely worth a visit if you play and are looking to add to your bag.

On this particular visit, I also chatted with another shopper about the Buffalo Bills, the weather, and Wegmans. Buffalo people truly are the best kind of people, and when you get a couple of us together in a store that deals specifically in community, what do you expect? I mean, I'm kind of shocked we didn't end up going out for a beer and some wings. That's not out of the question, honestly. Whatever you're looking for to rep your favorite city, you can find it here. I have a bunch of BuffaLove stickers from here that adorn my suitcase so I can show my love for Buffalo when I travel.
