Lunch time menu doesn't have a lot of options but the choice were definitely good ones! I went with the chicken tips! When I tell you this was the best bbq I've ever tasted! The chicken was seasoned so good! Some places put all the flavor into the sauce and forget to season the meat but not the Woodlawn! I was truly impressed! Cashier was very polite and food came out hot and in a timely fashion! There's also an amazing smoothie shop inside!

So ,we booked the party pod for one hr, its 75 but its private , you keep 2 apps on limited ordering menu and watch this its BYOB with ice bucket glasses and cooking fee included.. The pod was beautifully decorated with flat-screen TV that we used to play music on Now ,there was a mishap with menu ,I was in contact with Ebony back and forth she sent me the menu and said we could get 2 appetizers any 2 which was not case In the pods its hourly so my plan was know ahead ,what my order was and not waste time but Brittany came to the rescue with the correct info We order the jerk chicken fries, lemon pepper wings and additional mac and cheese and cabbage Everything was on point no complaints its hard to share 2 apps so will have to order more in addition to My fav was the jerk chicken fries the wings are small so be prepared All in all my company was great the spot was dope and we will be back

Stop selling people frozen stuff like they ain't going to know it was frozen!!!! It wasn't even canned salmon!!! those croquettes were not worth a dime of my money and the way the young lady pre-packaged the food made it all messy and Spilled Out especially for the Grits the Grits should have been in a regular separate container which they were not... All I know is you live you learn you learn I will never order that again I've had better items off the menu such as their pancakes and French toast but yeah do not order the salmon croquettes you will be highly upset

While eating breakfast we noticed some people were getting dinner, so we decided to order dinner then, since we had a lot of running around to do. I ordered the fried chicken with mac & cheese, yams, & dressing. My wife ordered fried chicken, mac & cheese, greens, and dressing. My daughter had the baked chicken, dressing, greens, & mac and cheese. My daughter's dinner was the only one made correct, mine had mashed potatoes, instead of yams and no dressing. My wife's dinner had no dressing. Everthing is on my reciept tho. I tried calling, but it was after 5pm when I saw my dinner. I'll call again tomorrow

My husband and I arrived at this nice warm modern contemporary restaurant for dinner, and we were…read moregreeted and seated right away. We were there the day before Valentine's Day, so the menu was limited. I had one of there margarits's and that started my great evening. Our server was attentive and checked in on us. We enjoyed the crab cakes with shrimp on top and dirty rice stuffed mushrooms for starters and then we had spinach salad which was delicious. About another hour or so we enjoyed our main meal which was Tuscan chicken with creamy risotto and lobster and shrimp etouffee served over wild rice, very delicious. We also had for dessert, banana CHEESE cream pudding and I actually wanted to Lick the bowel it was so good. We also enjoyed the strawberry shortcake. I was hesitant about making a reservation because of all the negative reviews after restaurant week. I must say we were happy with our decision to dine at this restaurant. Yes, the food took a little extra time but it was worth it. I can't wait to go back for their weekend brunch.

I'll start with the positives - The food for the most part…read morewas really good. I finally had actual catfish, something I haven't had in a while since maybe going to Virtue (keep that name in your pocket for later), we had calamari, which was ok, and my entree came with mashed potatoes which were good once I added a pinch of salt (at home because they didn't have salt or pepper on the table). Now for everything else- We waited a little bit to be seen and then be seated. We made reservations in advance, as it was my mom's 86th birthday so we were all excited that there was a place nearby to dine that didn't involve going to Hyde Park. Anyway, once seated we waited close to 20 minutes for water. There seemed to be one server with someone shadowing him in our section, so my sister asked him if he could get us water. He told us our server would be with us shortly in a pretty dismissive way. My sister then asked the host if someone was going to come and take our order, by this time we had been sitting for over 20 minutes, in bright light with Afro Beats blasting too loudly over the speaker (yall can't make a mix of different genres?). The host ended up taking our order and then our server came over, taking our order again until we told her we had already put in everything. The food came out pretty quickly but that was it. The servers kind of were also runners. Once the food was on the table that was it, nothing else. No one asked us about anything, you were on your own. My mom did ask for a dessert that sold out and after we told the server it was her birthday, she went to the kitchen and they did us a solid. And she said the bread pudding was good. We watched folks nearby sit just as long for food leave after an appetizer. Honestly it's no surprise because after getting the bill I realized this is Virtue pricing without hardly any of what makes that restaurant successful. I would come back, but maybe on a slower evening. Hopefully things will work out and get better, at least dim those lights and turn the music down a bit.

I probably would not…read morehave stumbled upon this on my own, but the notion of a perfect fusion of Greek, Jewish and Italian (The Holy Trinity) immigrant flavors in probably the most American sandwich you could have thought of. Thankfully this came about pretty naturally where these communities converge. I mean it's "we have the meats" and cold weather food combined. Corned Beef & Mustard from the Jewish cuisine, Roast Beef & Gaird from the Italians, Tzaziki & gyro from the Greeks and LTOC from American sandwiches. Some people and places put mayo and ketchup on there, but it muddies the cultures and makes it feel like not just a meat bomb, but a sauce bomb too leaving things indistriguishable. It's got this combination of hot and cold, crunch and chew, spice and cooling sauces. The only thing I'd like to see changed is have horseradish sauce in the sandwich and have the tzaziki as a dipping sauce. The cheese is swiss, but I'd like some cooper sharp, but I don't want to confuse NY'ers who chop their sandwiches (pre chew as I call it) as it might be a little too melty. The fries are well done, but putting them IN the sandwich is too much. The hoagie roll can barely handle all this meat on it's own. People say to use the BBQ sauce for the fries, but it muddles the flavor experience. I like to bring my own celery salt bc I love it on a Chicago dog so much that I think it helps. The bread is softer, but doesn't fall apart (don't take it out of the aluminum foil, like the In N Out burger, don't remove it from the diaper) It's not a classy sandwich shop, but a blue collar, greasy, cash only, curt coustomer service place that the is for the working man and the hungry man alike. Locals love this place becuase of how authentic it is and it's easy to see why everything is so popular. It's all good and it all sells. The only thing more popular is their wings, large, meaty, well seasoned. There is no eating inside or outside, so it's to go only. Grab one on your lunch break, best place to eat nearby is the telephone pole you could lean against or the hood of your car. Like most top tier places there is a way to order. It's not drunk food like Maxwells, becuase it's not singular in flavor. It's everything. A kitchen sink if you well, hence the name Gym Shoe. You might think it's some funky shoe, but it's a $300 pair of Jordans. It's open 24 hours, so depending on the hour it could get sketchy, but it's popular amongs LEO's that people wont mess with you too much. Service is decent, far less full of themselves as hotdog places around here, borderline friendly. My favorite way to wash this down is with a Mexican coke. Becuase there is so much meat, cheese, sauces it actually warms up pretty well if you can't finish it. Unlike other Chicago foods like the rigobene's breaded steak sandwich or a Jibarito. While it's something you can only find not just here (Chicago), but only in the Southside. It's hyper local. Unlike many foods which can't actually be replicatable elsewhere, this one can. You can find all the ingredients yourself. I don't reccomend doing that becuase eventhough I'm writing this, your not finding this unless your a foodie or interested in Chicago, i'm still sort of gatekeeping things. No sandwich shop owner has really come up with this anywhere else.
