I attended a family wedding reception here and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the venue is. They were able to fit around 450 guests without it feeling overcrowded at all. The layout is a large rectangular shape, which worked really well (no poles or obstructions blocking the view of the main stage, so everyone could clearly see the program). The food was surprisingly good for a banquet-style wedding. My favorite dish was the Peking duck. The bao was soft and fluffy, and the duck itself was meaty and juicy; definitely a highlight. I also loved that the lobster was served with pasta, which was a great and unexpected touch. They were generous with the portions of meat; which makes it a great value, but I would want a little more or vegetables. Dessert was very unique; similar to a traditional Chinese sweet cold soup, but with warm mashed taro added in. I've never had it prepared that way before, and it was different in a good way. The only dish I didn't care for too much was the fried rice. The sausage didn't taste very fresh to me, and it kind of threw off the overall flavor of the dish. But overall, you definitely get your money's worth with the portions and quality. The staff was efficient and quick with service throughout the night, which is impressive for such a large event. I had my wedding here on 10.24.25 and it was the most magical day ever! Kathleen was amazing to work with throughout the entire process. She was so easy to get along with, thoughtful, and considerate (especially of our budget). I walked away from each of our meetings feeling at ease. Kathleen's knowledge and expertise working weddings especially with the type of guests we had was so helpful. We received so many compliments from our guests (young and old!) saying the venue staff was very accommodating and food being delicious! Everyone was so happy to bring home all the leftovers. We had a custom menu of 7 dishes that we got to tried previously and our guests said all of them were really great! From the Shaken Beef, to the Walnut Shrimp, Duck Buns, and the Garlic Lobster Noodles, everything was a hit. I almost didn't book this venue but I am so glad I did! I was really looking for something I can put my touch on and a place that serves good food. This venue was it! I love that it was a blank canvas and I can add whatever touches I wanted. It's nice that most of the place is draped and you can add open bar, a dance floor and whatever else you may need. This place is great cause it can hold up to 450 people. Co thao was such a pleasure to work with and she answered any questions I had and helped me with whatever else I needed to be ready for the wedding day. There is a day of coordinator that comes with booking here which was nice, but I did also have my own day of coordinator. Not sure if vendors brought in the tables and chairs for the wedding I attended here but if that was the case -- then this venue is a blank slate with endless possibilities for decor. The walls were draped so it looks so elegant when guests walked in. There was a small booth set up for the open bar, an elevated DJ station, and a sweetheart table area on stage. The dance floor was very spacious and was filled the whole evening. The location is central to so many surrounding hotels and other accommodations. Food was not the best wedding food I have ever tried but it worked -- standard Asian wedding dishes. I was invited as a guest to a wedding being thrown at this venue. Right when you enter there is a lobby and the restrooms are on the right side. There is separate restrooms for men and women. There were enough stalls that there was never a wait to use the restroom. The lobby area was used for photos, drinks, desserts, and a check in station. It was roomy and didn't feel cramped. The venue is huge and fit a lot of tables, a bar, and has a dance floor. Each table had 10 guest it was a bit cramped. The servers were nice, kind , and fast. The kitchen was also very fast every dish came out so quickly it was fresh and hot. My table had trouble finishing any dish because it keep coming out so fast and we had to pack to gos for other dishes to fit on the table. Their open bar option was also reasonably priced with the premium selection that was offered. But most importantly, their food was so good!! Our guests gave us positive feedback on the food (tasty, big portions, great presentation) and the space (42 tables were not packed in like sardines - there was still space to walk around and have our dance floor, stage, beer garden, entrance photos, check-in, and 16 ft long double open bar). It is pretty much a blank slate and you can do as much or as little as you want to elevate it. Co Thao has done a terrific job of making it look great on the inside! I had my florist add ceiling flowers to bring the whole room together and my guests thought it was so beautiful! My dad is very picky with his Chinese food and didn't think we could find good banquet food in OC because we are spoiled growing up in the SGV but during the tasting, my dad approved and said the food was great! Just had my wedding there this past Friday 11/12/21, and I have nothing bad to say about Mon Cheri. This was a sort of last minute wedding and they were able to accommodate to all our needs. The owner was very nice and easy to work with. We were set up with Kristy for our day of coordination and she was great! Very responsive and also gave us great suggestions. I actually had some mild food poisoning the day of my wedding (just my luck lol) and Kristy was making sure I had water and electrolyte repletions. She also packed up a lot of our stuff for us and loaded it in the car! I know Mon Cheri gets very busy and has a lot of weddings, but I could tell Kristy was very caring and didn't just see us as another wedding couple. Truly appreciated that! When we were shopping for venues for our wedding, I decided to contact Vivian, the event coordinator at Mon Cheri, to discuss our options. After meeting with her, we also went to their tasting. Below are the pros and cons: Pros - Vivian was pleasant. She was good with communication and contact. - Food tasting was delicious and beautifully presented - They offer table linens for rental - Caters towards a younger crowd - Maximum capacity of 45 tables (450 guest) - Available lighting system - The bridal changing room is large Cons - You need to find your own way to decorate (They have a few referral) - You are basically renting out the location and having them cater. - I hated the location, plaza is ghetto (Harbor blvd? no thanks) - The layout is weird (hard for all guest to enjoy the experience, some will feel left out/unbalanced) - Minimum of 30 tables required for booking Saturday events - Corkage fee - I hated the low ceilings The venue is trendy. Chi Thao and Kathleen were amazing and made sure we got everything we wanted/needed for our wedding. We had a traditional asian 9 course meal. About 23-24 tables so about 230-240 guests at our wedding. This venue definitely held a lot more. The food were one of the best we've had compared to other 9 course meals. All our guests loved it and even wanted more! Opened bar all night with top shelf drinks. Our guest couldn't have been happier. Boba/milk tea bar was over the top yummy. Unlimited refills all night and we were also able to bring home left overs in pitchers! We had a lot of DIY projects for our reception such as centerpieces, favors, and dessert tables, which the staff was able to put it all together for us. It was great to know that we had nothing to worry about and definitely trusted them 100%. Bridal suite was clean and spacious with free food for us. What more could a bride ask for? They were always on top of the game and sometimes even steps ahead of us which was great for me since my type A personality does have some trust issues. :) Honestly I would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking to book a place for their events. read more

I choose Mon Cheri because they offered asian food without your normal asian restaurant look (love the beautiful white drapery!) and had an attached kitchen (to ensure the food would be warm!). The prices are definitely really affordable for what you get. The final price includes appetizers (served by waiters), champagne for toasting for each attendee, plates and linens, a bigger than normal bridal room (w/ a key), a cake from Van's Bakery (yum pandan and coconut), AND most importantly, wedding coordination by Vivian. The Good: My guests said the place was beautiful with the drapery and uplighting. They were able to have vegetarian and gluten free options. My coordinator was Vivian. She definitely knows what she is doing. We were lucky to have her coordinate that day! She looked over our schedule once for edits and she gave us so much valuable advice on timing. On the day of, we were ABOVE schedule during the entire reception, which meant more dancing time! She advised us to bring everything in 2 days before. That allowed my party to relax the day before AND to figure what what was still missing. Mon Cheri hooked us with connections by suggesting us with a great bartender (Thanks Andrew, everyone loved you!), uplighting, Michael Ming (MC/DJ) that knew the venue really well. We decided not to go with the custom dance floor or stage upgrades and it was totally fine. The bad: - the venue had a weird scent when we arrived day of. This is the same scent I smelled every time I went. Luckily one of my relatives bought some spray. - You will be coordinating with Thao and Vivian, 2 people, not one. Keep in mind you will have to keep both of them in the loop. Sometimes they have conflicting information. Don't worry, just keep talking between them and it'll all be sorted out. My review will be based on their outside catering services that they provided for my wedding in July 2022. Co Thao and Kristy were so very sweet and pleasant to interact with. They're very accommodating and gave their best quality of care to ensure our food was excellent. We had an 8 course Asian family style banquet. They have set menus, but there is some flexibility and I was able to exchange or swap some of the menu items. Kristy took serveral trips to my outside venue to plan out all the logistics so everything ran smooth the day of my wedding. The Mon Cheri team had their own team of cooks that made the food fresh. The only thing I would say to be aware of is if you do outside catering, it does not include servers, table cloths, and silverware/plates. I had to rent that separately through another company. However, if you go with Mon Cheri you can be certain that the food will be abundant, fresh, and consistently delicious. My guests could not stop raving about how delicious the food was. I had multiple people tell me it was the best wedding food they ever had. There was also so much food! By the time the 3rd of 4th course came out, my guest were practically full and had to take the food home. I definitely recommend this place for outside catering! My husband and I highly recommend Mon Cheri venue. We had our wedding there this past Jan. 2017 and loved how everything turn out. Vivian and her team did a fantastic job! She's super helpful, reliable and even helped us find the church to get married. As far as the actual venue, the location itself isn't the greatest since it's next to Daiso, KFC and Rite Aid. There's plenty of parking but make sure you tell your guests they can't leave their cars there since they start towing around 1am. Once you get inside the size of the venue is huge and can fit 350+ comfortably. What I loved about the venue is you can transform it to whatever your heart desires. It's a clean palette, we got lucky and they just finished updating the front area and provided a new bridal suite. This venue is perfect for a huge "asian style" wedding. Not only do you get a hard-working coordinator, a large venue, you also get to feed your guests an amazing 10 course meal! Like most couples at a wedding, we didn't get a chance to eat much. Vivian made sure we ate enough beforehand and she even packed up our leftovers at the end.
