OMG, I thought I wrote a review on this place already! I had my Chinese/Vietnamese wedding reception here! It was SO great! PEOPLE: 230 CEREMONY AREA: I didn't have the ceremony there. I just had the reception but they can do it! BRIDAL ROOM: You have your own room! With key! I love it! I kept my stuff in there and it was safe. Plus I had to change three times, so it was perfect to change in. It has a sofa, hangers and mirror and table to put stuff on! COCKTAIL AREA: Same area as the reception. They bar is portable, so I was able to arrange the bar anyplace I wanted. It was very convenient. I loved how easy it was to move around. You can really organize it any place you like. The photo area where people could take photos with me and my hubby was open too. Lots of space! RECEPTION: LOVE. I had a dance floor. There was a stage for the MC/DJ and the cake. The way we positioned it was the cake was behind us at the sweetheart table! The DJ was in front of us! There was a lot of room to dance! DECOR: You have to get uplighting to really make the room pop. They charge for drapery and lighting but not much. They provide the manzanita trees and decor. I love the Manzanita trees!!! :D CATERING: 10 course meals. They have different options per table and pricing. We got the $458/table. They food includes lobster too! The food is delicious!!! We did a food tasting and the food tasting is AWESOME. Worth it. COORDINATOR: Vivian is the BEST. I absolutely love her. She is super organized and runs everything. You pick the color and the idea you have and she arranges it. THIS IS INCLUDED WITH BOOKING THIS PLACE. She placed out what I wanted and she gives you suggestions too. She helped me SO much in the planning stages and dealing with my inlaws haha. :D I don't know what I'd do without her! She made sure I had enough food and drinks during my wedding. She really ran things and everything was perfect! OVERALL: I loved this place. Great photo ops and the coordinator is seriously the best. Open Bar TOP SHELF- MUST get! It is totally worth your money! Food - REALLY GOOD! I got soo many complements of the food! Everyone was surprised of how good the food was! Entrance - beautiful! They have added a few things and some draping. Dance floor - PERFECT Size! I love it how it is in the middle of the room. Lighting - great! everything is perfectly light and you can choose the color of the lighting to your choice to match your wedding theme. They REALLY go the extra step to make your wedding the best it can me! You can tell when places do things because they LOVE what they do not because they can do it. Don't bother booking your wedding at Grand Garden, Great China, and all those old run down restaurants! This is the place!! My co-workers told me how much they loved the place. The waiters were very attentive and very professional. Fast workers and very accommodating. When I got the first look of the reception on the wedding day, I almost cried!! It was soo beautiful! All the little things they did made it so perfect! You can really tell the difference when you book at a place because they can do it and if this is something they LOVE to do. Before I used to think, can people REALLY love their wedding? Now I think, HELL YES! After all the hard work of planning I am soo glad everything turned out pretty well. Went to a wedding reception here, and the food was great. I was surprised that they make their own Chinese food in the kitchen at the venue -- the peking duck was delicious, along w/ the cold appetizer dish. :) The owners sat at our table; nice couple. The interior was spacious, had a dance floor and multiple tables. It's a good place to host a reception if you want to add your own personal touches to it. Last Sunday one of the non-profit organizations that I'm involved with hosted a dinner party here and it was quite magical! The Garden Grove location is smaller than it's sister restaurant in Anaheim but it is newer (opened in Dec 09) and more intimate. The layout is also much better at this location than the Anaheim location. I love that the venue is not your typical Chinese Seafood restaurant setting with all the reds and golds and dragons and phoenixes everywhere. It's a very very beautifully decorated event space that's ready to host a wedding or fancy fundraiser at a moment's notice. Mon Cheri does not open it's doors to the public as a restaurant. It's only open when banquets/events are booked. I truly appreciate this because I know that even if I don't fill up the entire space with tables, I won't have strangers peeking in on my events! The food itself cannot compare to Furiwa but I'm giving Mon Cheri 5 stars because of the aforementioned beautiful decorated event space and the flexibility of the management to work with you on your catering menus. We went here for a wedding this week. I've been here a few times now. The nice thing is it's nice inside if you get walk drapings. There is a stage for the band, dance table in the middle, and the wedding couple table at the other end. This place is adequate for an Asian wedding It's nice and was ok spaced for 30+ tables. The bathroom was kind of messy. But they did have plenty of napkins. I'd give the food 2 stars though. 1st dish was lobster salad which felt like a meddly of apple potatoes and thin slivers of lobster. The main lobster dish with noodles was not too good. Noodles were cold and using small noodles but lobster was room temp. Best dish had to be fried rice. read more

I just had my wedding last weekend 7/27/2019 and it was an absolute dream. The food was amaZing. My favorite dish was the Peking duck. Co Thao is easy to work with. The prices are affordable and the venue is nicer compared to other restaurants that can host a wedding. I had a party of 300 guests and it was very spacious. This has been by far the best decision I've made choosing Mon Cheri as my wedding venue. Their team is phenomenal and flexible. I had about 3 months to plan my wedding and they were so incredible in coordinating with us. I had many things go wrong during my reception but Vivian was amazing and always saved us. For example, our table numbers were missing and guests were sitting everywhere super confused, but it took Vivian about 10 minutes before the start of our reception to have everyone seated. To seat 450 people including wedding crashers in that chaotic mess in less than 10 minutes is beyond a miracle.... The food was incredible. I had so many people compliment us on that including all the vegetarian dishes. The bar was a HIT! The venue is super customizable with all their packages and options. Co Thao is always on the search for the next best thing to add to the venue so it was incredibly exciting to hear her ideas. All my guests left the wedding in awe (we had so many great feedbacks and friends have been asking us about details to plan their reception there) and it's all thanks to Mon Cheri for making our wedding such a hit. read more

Rice and Pepper! I hate weddings without an opened bar, *cough* christian wedding, and especially one where a simply divine jack n coke tastes like a fuking diet coke. This is why i believe that the bar is the heart of a wedding, because i dont believe in "love" but i sure do believe that it can be recreated with good friends and a whole lotta booze. Thanks Cory and David --or something,for getting me and all my friends so wasted that i cant even remember your name or where i parked my car. Hell yeah! Food was pretty good, but i couldn't tell because the alcohol was blocking the connection from my mouth to my brain. But For sure there was no msg( i would know, i am asian) and there was plenty for everybody, so much that to go boxes were being handed out like it was christmas. Ho! Ho! Ho! Service was spectacular. The staff there were all so caring and respectable towards the guests offering us cheese and crackers while we waited and chat. I thought security here was going to be a problem, with all those scary reviews about meatheads securing the premise, but nada.They were accommodating, opened the door for us, took a group picture for us, and all smiles throughout the night. I just went here for my cousin's wedding and it was a pretty good venue. Super convenient as part of the strip mall, but a nice exterior entry and the interior was decorated beautifully with long white sheer drapery. The dance floor and table space was large enough to probably hold 150-200 people. The flooring is very nice marble, while the tables and chairs were also more than just your decorated standard office meeting chairs. They were actually quite quaint; white and well cushioned to match the white theme of the wedding. The sound system was also very clear; good bass for the hip-hop, EDM, and piano music that was played throughout the night. It was a pretty nice place for the wedding and I'm glad we attended. From what my cousin said they also let you use outside caterers (The food was actually very good!). The servers were excellent in bring and taking away dishes and refilling and providing water and champagne as well. Great staff.! read more

Mon Cheri came to our mind when we were looking for venue on April 2021. I love how the venue is all white, just simple and elegant. Our wedding reception at Mon Cheri last Friday 10.29 was a blast. Chi Thao (manager) was nice and flexible with all the changes, Alex ( our assigned coordinator) was so helpful and quickly response to our questions during the planning process. I was truly a DIY bride. I did all the flowers and decorations. We just drop off everything the day before and Alex helped me to put them all together on the wedding day. I was so happy walking in the venue last Friday and see what I have been envision for the last 6 months came to life. It was just beautiful. They let me borrowed 1 cake stand, 2 easels and even table number holders. Our guests loved the food, especially the prawn salad, shrimp and scallops walnut glazed. We had fried rice and eggrolls in our bridal suite when we arrived at 5pm. The eggrolls was bomb. They have staff walking around with 3 hors d'oevoures: cream puff, eggrolls, shrimp and pork dumpling during our cocktails hour. Alex made sure all of our decorations were in boxes at the end of reception and even saved us a whole cake. Our reception went smoothly with the help of chi Thao, Alex and all staff on that Friday. Security better check themselves before they wreck themselves. Talk about feeling hassled and unwelcomed at a freakin'... No, not bar or nightclub... But a wedding! There is no point in checking IDs at the entrance of a wedding if there is no intention of somehow indicating that a guest is/is not of legal drinking age. Want to stamp my hand or put a wrist band on me? Weird for a wedding, but okay. Just want to check it to make yourself feel important or useful? Well, get comfortable by the bar and I'll be happy to show you before the bartender shakes me a drink. What if I was a minor? Gonna put a big, fat X on my hand or follow me around the wedding to make sure I don't take advantage of the open bar? Come on, I'm flattered by the gesture, but really, it makes no sense. What's next, guys, a pat down? That really put an overcast on an otherwise beautiful and joyous evening. Attended my cousin's wedding here this weekend and was not impressed (I liked the personal touches, but the location itself... meh) The venue was nice and lit up with pretty hues of purple and pink, but the food just wasn't doing it for me. I think the best thing i had that night was the cake (and I'm not sure if that was outsourced or baked at the location). Luckily it's not the venue that makes the wedding - it's the bride, the groom, and all the attendees. The bride was gorgeous and that's all that matters! Good luck to them both! read more

I was thinking about having my wedding here but the wedding coordinator, Vivian, was horrendous and a deal breaker. They planned an event right before my best friends wedding and ensured it would be ready in time for hers. The restaurant was not ready and guests waited outside for 30 min. The floors were disgustingly sticky, ruining all of the floor length bridesmaid dresses and the brides dress. The worst part by far was the wedding coordinator, Vivian. She was condescending and slow the entire night and stepped on the bride's dress, tearing the entire bustle of a gorgeous expensive dress. She was unapologetic about ripping the dress or about any of the things that went wrong. She didn't offer any money back for the late start time, the ruined dresses, or the sticky floors. She spoke to every one with a condescension and a lack of respect. If you want your bridesmaids to be treated with respect and you want them to feel like a valued part of your team, then DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE. read more

If you are looking for a great venue, I would definitely recommend this location. Not to sound biased because I had my wedding venue here almost a year ago, but I've had my fair share of experiences here and at their competing location, Mon Amour, from other weddings (including my sister's). Personally, I thought the food and waiting service at Mon Cheri were way more better and the structure of the building is more newer and modern. Mon Armour has the benefit to fit up to 600 guests, whereas Mon Cheri can fit up to 450 comfortably. That's really the only downside I could think of about Mon Cheri. There was a juggle between having the dance floor splitting the entire room in half or having a column, that looks like a stripper pole, in the direct center of the entire atmosphere. What helped us narrow this decision down was easy--older folks from our families preferred to be seated at one end. Younger generations on the other. No categories of guests want to be mixed up with each other and everyone seemed very happy with this result. Plus, we much rather keep the number of guests at an average 300, at most 400 (400 became the exact number we fulfilled this night). Definitely book for the open bar. I am telling you it is worth it for you and your guests! Unless, if you are Christian, book it open for just a few hours. If your guests want more afterwards, they can pay for it. Not all of your guest party is Christian, and you don't want them to criticize your wedding day like a bad thing. Unless if you don't care, that is totally, and respectfully, up to you, too :). To this very day, I still received compliments about our wedding night here: from the decorative details, the lighting ambience, to the food drinks & service, and the tables they were seated at. We came to realize a lot of our hard work has paid off! So far, no bad feedback from even the older folks either! Of course, none of this could ever be done, and on schedule, without Vivian's help. She does an AMAZING job! Trust me. Even if it comes down to times when she would recommend ideas over your's sometimes, she knows what she is doing to help your wedding look amazing. She even took table numbers to arrange our wedding date, our centerpiece giveaways, and some party favors to have the photographer take photos of before they get lost or stolen from within the crowd. Attended a wedding here back in December. The venue itself was very beautiful, but that's more how much effort the bride put into decoration rather than the venue itself. The layout of the venue is not ideal, though. The venue looks like this: EBSDS. Literally, in a rectangle like those letters, with E being the entrance, B being the bar, S being seating and D being the dance floor/stage. The room is basically divided in half, and anyone on the far end has the trudge past the stage/dance floor to get to the bar. Luckily, there are bathrooms on both sides. But the main reason for a mediocre review is the food, which was just fine, but not very good. Most of the food suffered from being under-seasoned or being just too one note, with the few exceptions being the ginger fish and the house lobster, both of which I consider pretty good. But 2 good dishes out of 10 dishes is not the best score. I don't know anything about the price to what you get ratio for hosting a wedding, but the quality of this venue is a solid 3 stars. Boy did I have the best of luck with all my wedding vendors! Our wedding was a two-parter. My husband and I really wanted a rustic wedding that spoke to our aesthetics, yet at the same time, we wanted to be able to celebrate our nuptials in a traditional Vietnamese setting for our parents and extended family. God knows how, but we managed to pull of two events back to back and held our second reception at Mon Cheri. We worked with their inhouse event coordinator, Vivian--and she was really great at helping us put together some ideas to dress up the place. She was also instrumental in helping us keep the pace of the wedding--because we certainly didn't have the right mindset to manage that ourselves! The venue was really quite beautiful--and was a refreshing departure from holding the reception at traditional chinese seafood restaurants. Because they aren't a restaurant--it doesn't smell like oils and foods. It's a super clean establishment that really does offer couples an opportunity to find middle ground--to have something traditional while still incorporating their modern ideas. I love this venue! They don't try to nickel and dime you on every little detail and they really do try to understand your ideas without hassling you to upgrade every detail of your wedding. Here are a few reasons why you should consider Mon Cheri: 1) They allow you to use outside vendors for florals, linens, dessert, etc 2) Food is great! Got compliments on the food all night :) Vivian was thoughtful enough to pack away food for us so we could have some the next day--and i was delicious! 3) TOP SHELF Bar for an AWESOME price! I've been to a few weddings here and generally liked the space. Fairy wide open and clearly designed to host wedding receptions and other large events. Most recently, my cousin's daughter held her wedding reception on a Sunday. Bad news first. For starters, not sure if it's because the reception was held on a Sunday, but the waiters were all in jeans and polos. Hardly appropriate attire for a wedding service team. Logistics were not ideal. The open bar was located adjacent to where people were checking in and where a photo area was set up. Long lines for all three created a traffic jam at the entrance. It was hard to get around as a result, people were cutting lines for the open bar, others were pushing people aside to take photos. It was a bit chaotic. While there are two separate restrooms, there is only one entrance, also creating long lines - particularly for the women's side. Men could see into the women's restroom and vice versa when there was a longer line. There was a noticeable "fishy" smell in the restaurant throughout. The drinking glasses also had distinguishing fishy smell. It was repulsive. Bad enough to the point, I had to go to the bar to ask for empty plastic cups to use. A final thing, and not necessarily the restaurants' fault, but the volume of the music was RIDICUOUS!! Typical VN weddings where the band insists on absolutely maxing out all the speakers. It's problematic when you have to yell to speak to the person sitting next to you. Now for the "good" news. This was a typical multi-course dinner. The food overall was pretty good. One item that was different here that I haven't seen, is a sauteed scallop dish - that was surprisingly good given how well cooked the scallops were. Despite being underdressed, the wait staff were pretty responsive to requests (e.g. refiling soda, clearing tables, etc.). There is also ample parking for guests. read more

If you get the open bar double check the # of bartenders and make sure you have a replacement in case someone gets sick. My friends have already booked at Mon Cheri, and after our wedding another friend booked the facility. Thao and Vivian are great to work with and very easy going. My wife and I had our wedding here on 11/17/2019 and haven't been to anything as big as what we had. Where else can you find a place that can welcome 450 guests?! That would be a tough feat. My wife and I were looking for a restaurant that could accommodate lots of people as we knew we were going to have at least 400 guests. Mon Cheri came in and definitely did us well. Thao was the one that gave us information as well as completed the contract for us. She was very nice and very attentive. She ad answers for every question that we had and make us feel very welcome. Mon Cheri has many options for decorations to make the place extremely elegant. This was the first place that we visited for our wedding and came out to be the place that we chose. Mon Cheri provided us with a day planner as well. Kristi is such a gem and was extremely helpful and guided us through the entire wedding from start to finish. Mon Cheri even helped us place our center pieces and parting gifts on each table without any charge. In the end we had about 410 guests and it accommodated everyone very comfortable. read more

I went to a friend's wedding at Mon Cheri. The food was delicious. It was one of the best Asian 10 course wedding dinners I've had in a long time. The decor was gorgeous. There is draping on the walls so you don't see bare wall and they provide Chiavari chairs as well. From what I understand, if you book your reception with Mon Cheri, the day of coordinator is included in the package. They also have open bar service is you like that and also provide security guards during your reception. Booking with Mon Cheri is pretty much a one stop shop. If I didn't already have a wedding venue, I would definitely consider Mon Cheri! read more

*** Experience *** First of all, Vivian is super helpful and nice. She made the entire process as painless as possible. Her expertise is on full display with her knowledge in the wedding process and her unlimited vendor connections. Step by step, she made sure we were update to with our planning. She even offered suggestions when we didn't know what to do. As the day of our wedding drew near, she provided us with a check list to make sure we didn't forgot anything. On the day of the wedding, Vivian was there to provide with a helping hand. She literally took our hands and guided us through the entire event. She made sure we were where we should be, at the time that we should be there. It made the entire event seamless. *** Venue*** My first impression of the venue was, " hmmm.... it's inside a strip mall." But once you're inside you don't remember where the venue is located, You are completely transported to another place. The decor inside is very elegant and modern. It is something that you can find inside a banquet venue inside a 5 star hotel. I overheard one of my guest saying that the inside was decorated so elegantly. We had a large wedding party, 27 tables and it fit everyone comfortably. The open bar was awesome. They served all top shelve alcohol. All the guests were truly impressed. They also had security at the front door. It made me feel more comfortable that people will not act up. *** Food *** The food for each table was very competitively priced. When compared to prices we received from dim-sum seafood restaurants, Mon Cheri were competitive or cheaper then theirs. The food was good and the proportions were ample. They were very flexible adjusting their menu to fit our guest's taste. Vivian was very accommodating with changes with the menu. Reviewing Mon Cheri as a guest for two weddings now. The thing about traditional Chinese/Vietnamese wedding food (especially when you're used to it) is that it's never going to be really, really bad food or really, really good food. It's just decent food and lots of it, and that is plenty okay by me. This was the case with Mon Cheri. The venue is great for when you need to accommodate a ton of wedding guests (the two receptions I went to here were about 400-550 guests each). The downside to this is that audio might suffer because you can never get enough people to be quiet long enough to hear the pre-meal prayer or the speeches, so plan accordingly. And in spite of the sheer number of wedding guests they had to take care of, the servers were pretty attentive and were always around to flag down. Bathrooms are clean and maintained. There's plenty of room in the entrance area for a photo booth and a sign in area. Parking is in a large commercial lot, so there's plenty of parking available for weddings. read more

Awesome food, service needs improvement. I just had my Taiwanese/Vietnamese wedding reception here recently and everyone told me " awesome food, service not so much". I think in order to make this place the absolute one stop shop, they definitely can step up a bit on the service. Time: Lunch People: 130 Event: What I love about this place is they told you that they will customize your event to however you want and they will help you put it together. We asked for a small ceremony, then follow by reception and Vivian (the event organizer from the restaurant) organized a lovely ceremony for us on the stage. Food: During the our food tasting, we found the food can be better. ie: the sea cucumber was cut way too big, the lobster had too much batter on it and way too greasy, and there were a lot of MSG added in the food. After the tasting, we communicated all these issues with the chef and Vivian; they promised they will modified the food to more to our taste and they DID! EVERYONE LOVED THE FOOD, no one complained about a single dish. I just loved it when Vivian told me "No wedding is the same here, we will cater to your taste". After all these modification, their food transformed from "Just okay" to AWESOME from our friends who also went through the tasting with us. This is one of the big plus, because I know no many restaurants are willing to change their style of cooking. watch out for the menu item, it is not what it said it would be. two items on the menu did not came out with the the ingredients they said will be in there: Shark Fin, Fresh Crabmeat with Asparagus Soup - There is no asparagus in the soup Shrimp, Scallops, and Walnuts in Special Sauce - Scallops? Where? I tried it twice there (one for tasting one real deal) and I am unable to find any scallops, just a lot of shrimp The Peking Duck is to die for. Both my husband and I were glad that we got to tried it again on our wedding day. ( we were both worry we are not going to taste it again) :D Decoration: They already have some pretty decorations in the place, but in order to make it even better, we added some of our own. They allow you to change it up to however you like. They even let you add stuff to the decorations they have. Bridal room: The changing room is huge and secured compared to all the other venues I checked. Bar: One thing we are looking for when deciding which venues to go with is if they allow you to bring in your own alcohol and you can with mon cheri.. It had made our guests happy and saved us some money. However, I am not sure it is because we brought in our own wine or they just don't offer this...the sever did not go around each table to offer wine to our guests, so my guests had to walked their wine glass to the bar area to get their own wine and all the other weddings I had been to always had a server pour wine for us. Services: I would suggest to them to split the plates for the rectangular head table or have a server standing by just to serve the food for the head table. None of my guest of honor can reached their food, because this was not the traditional round table with lazy Susan on it. Everyone had to get up and walked around the table with their plate in order to get the food. The server didn't really put food on the plate until asked. Then they put rest of food so far away that no one else can reached them unless they get up and walk to it. I am specially unhappy with the security guard after our reception is over. We had a luncheon at Mon Cheri and we were aware that we have to clear out by 3:15. However, according to my guests the security guard kept rushing them out when it was only 2:30! I think it is EXTREMELY RUDE of them to do. OUR EVENT IS OVER BUT WE ARE STILL PAYING CUSTOMER! SHOW SOME RESPECT. It if is past 3 then I would understand, but it is not even close to 3!!!! Tip: Make sure you go over all the details with Vivian and make sure she is aware of them. Over all, I would recommended this place for your event. My cousin's wedding was incredibly fun! The food... decent! Normally, my cousins and my siblings sit at the same table as me and they're all big eaters :( I learned however that if I occasionally sit at the groomsmen's and bridesmaids's table, and I get to eat all their food. Note: At Vietnamese weddings, the groom, bride, groomsmen and bridesmaids are so busy during the reception that they barely have time to eat. This technique was especially convenient any time the seafood entrees like the lobster or scallop came out ^_^ I'm not sure if they're a regular restaurant or not; all the reviews mention coming here for an event or wedding. Went here for a wedding reception. It's an unassuming place! This place is located in a strip mall and there is shared parking in the lot. Inside though there is a long hall and the space is pretty massive. The food was excellent! I had the best time at the reception and the staff were very attentive. read more

**off-site catering review** Big thank you to Vivian and the mobile Mon Cheri catering team! My guests could not stop telling me how much they enjoyed everything you provided for appetizers and dinner. The food came out hot and everyone was served in a timely manner. They were awesome about accommodating my food allergy and making sure our food came out 1st because Vivian wanted to make sure we got to eat before they pulled us for photos and other things. Vivian was very easy to work with and was easy to get in touch with. She also provided the linens for my wedding which made it easier for us to have one less vedor to juggle. She was so sweet to pack up the food we didn't get to finish for us to have after the reception. Thank you for feeding us on our special day! We loved everything! read more

I went here for a friends wedding and was very pleased. Mon Cheri restaurant is a lot prettier and better quality of food than most Chinese banquets. Here is a list of my pros & cons. Pros: easy and plenty of parking in a shopping center. Next to Daiso LOL. Beautifully decorated on the inside of the restaurant with two grand entrance doors. Typical Asian wedding foods larger portion than most restaurants so yay for additional servings! Quality of food isn't bad. It's pretty good. Fits about 300 guest but it's pretty crowded. Service was good. Restaurant was pretty clean compared to other banquets. Great bar service Con: it's in a shopping center so if you plan on having a wedding there's no nice outdoor scenery for pictures, or grand entra Overall it was a wonderful experience and I may consider having my wedding reception here too. read more

Vivian & Thao are dolls! Out of all the Chinese/Viet restaurant this was our favorite. They can house a small to large group, reasonably priced, modern-updated venue compare to other restaurants in the OC and SGV area. They are very sweet and helpful. Being an indecisive person they really help put my dream wedding together with advice, suggestions, and care to detail. Having conflicting schedule, it was a little difficult to get in touch at times, but the important things is the everything came together when need be. I was stressing and Vivian helped calm things down for this bride (me!). The vendors they use are good too and keep to their words, if anything changes they are easy to talk to and make changes if need be. We are still on cloud 9 with our wedding day and it really has a lot to do with our vendors. We completely trusted Vivian and her team at Mon Cheri. Vivian was amazing since day 1 of giving us a tour of the venue. We wanted an American style wedding with strong traditional values. We love the food at Mon Cheri. It's quality and taste surpasses every other "Asian" venue in Orange County. The venue is nice and gorgeous when you add your own touches to it. The price point is definitely pretty good for what you get. We ordered an open bar with top shelf liquor. It was definitely a hit! Our guests loved the bartenders and even took (many) shots with them. But back to Vivian, we don't know how she does it. She took care of us and every single guest the night of our wedding. She made sure we were on time with our schedule. She watched us and made sure we were able to eat when our guests wanted to take shots with us or take photos. She is amazing! I came here for a wedding. It's much bigger inside than you would expect from the outside. It's in a strip center and the wedding is only as nice as the way you want to decorate it. The food being catered was just OK. The only dishes we enjoyed was the walnut shrimp and the lobster. read more

I had my wedding here last year and I find myself wanting to relive the moment again! Our experience here far exceeded our expectations. Vivian is amazing! From the beginning to the end she was always there for us and not feeling overwhelmed by our expectation for this wedding. If it wasn't for her I don't think we would've had a smoother experience. We had schedule for a tasting and brought our parents. The food was remarkable. The chief is chinese which is perfect because it suited our ethnicity taste. We could have easily picked a seafood restaurant close to our home in the 626 but we choose this place because of the great reviews and recommendations. I love that they serve appetizers for our guests while they wait for the festivities to begin. Open bar is an option. We opted to bring our own and pay the corkage fee. This banquet hall already had the great decor that you can't find in our area. I knew I wanted chiavari chairs and floor length linens (short linens option as well) this place included it. The lighting was important to me too. Drapes and uplightings we had Kim Chi Flowers aka KC Floral Designs in Garden Grove who also did our centerpieces. Ted did an amazing drape and lighting display for us. Kim Chi did a great job on our floral centerpiece design. Overall the service was great and all our guests left with a great experience. I came here in September in search of a wedding banquet venue. My friend who'd already gotten married had this as one of her contenders that got knocked off the list due to availability. So I decided to check it out since it's so close to the future in-laws. The door was open, so we went in, but no one was around. Wow, I had no idea venues can look like this! This was a middle ground between Asian restaurant and hotel. I was hooked. I went to their website and submitted an inquiry. Vivian, the event coordinator, was on maternity leave at the time, but boy was she prompt in responding to emails! I ended up meeting with the owner Thao and she was the sweetest thing. We decided to return to try the food, and the food was good too!! Only downside in my opinion is that the venue is very long and narrow. There was 1 Saturday available in April and the next Saturday opening wouldn't be until October of 2014. However, that Saturday was also one of those Saturdays listed on the inauspicious dates to get married, so I decided there was a reason why that date is open, and I'm not going to be the one to take that chance. Overall, this place seemed great, but not great enough for me to book with them, so therefore, the 4 stars. read more

It has been 4 years since I last spoke to Chi Thao (MonCheri's owner), and she remembered both my sister and me. I was touch that she remembered we had an Engagement and Birthday parties with her back in 2010. The service Chi Thao provides at MonCheri is exquisite, I have not found another banquet hall like it. This time I needed a small business dinner on Monday, unfortunately, MonCheri closes on Monday. It makes sense, who normally throw a party on a Monday anyway. MonCheri would have helped me leave quite an impression on my international clients. A las, I have to find another place. =( If we ever have any big event in our family, we would contact Chi Thao again. Although I am not suprised if MonCheri is booked a whole year out already on the weekend. They are that good! Some famous Viet singers held their weddings and get-together there. read more

My husband and I fell in love with this venue! We booked this venue 2 years in advance. It was all worth the wait! Because, during the wait they've upgraded their chairs, includes white drapes, new chandelier(s), and the lobby is much larger now! I couldn't have asked for a better day of coordinator than vivian! She honestly made our wedding run so smoothly! She knows exactly what she is doing, I brought all my DIY decor the day before the wedding and told her exactly what I wanted and she did exactly just that, but even better! Gosh!
