I like it. I like it a lot. It lacks the 'tude of a lot of other 'rina barrs, its easy to get a drink, and the music is generally very good. I wouldn't come here with the expectation of just having "a few beers..." it's def a get your booze on place, which I respect. So, I have been here a few times now and I think this place is pretty cool. It's pretty small, but tends to not be too crowded most of the time. That said, it can have it's moments. Looked for a local bar while walking in the Presidio area to grab a beer and watch the Warriors game. Found this while walking and checked it out. Regular beers were less than $5 for a Sunday night because of their happy hour. It wasn't crowded when we went, so there were plenty of seating, both at the bar and table stools. There was a pool table along with great music that was being played. A very local bar for those who live in the area. Very friendly staff that was working as well as good recommendations and full explanations on other drinks that they had listed. Definitely recommend coming here if you are looking to grab a quick beer with friends or even trying to catch a sports game. read more

Sunday football sucks in the Pacific time because some games start at 10:00 am! Came out here to check out a football game around that time and was almost instantly bothered by the bartender. She did not greet us or even acknowledge that we entered the bar. Note: Including my bf and I, there was a total of 4 people inside the bar. A little hard to give the excuse that you are busy!! When she finally came by to give us a menu, we asked if they had any food. She was short and told us no. Then when we told her we just wanted to start off with OJ, she rambled on with 4-5 different drinks that had orange juice with alcohol. I get that this is a bar.. but I think it was a bit pushy for her to try and make us a mixed drink at 10 am. We both felt very uncomfortable being there and felt even more uncomfortable asking if she could turn up the volume. We left at halftime and found a more comfortable place to watch the game. Only reason we stayed so long was because it was a $20 Lyft ride from where we were coming. I don't recommend this place to watch football games. Never coming back! read more

Um...ya no! this is one of my least favorite bars in the marina. I have lived in the marina and know that there is the marina douche bag stereotype and this bar pretty much sums that one up. I've never had a good time here, the crowd is a bunch of over grown frat boys. The last time I was in there there were two "models" that were wearing Monaghan's shirts that were ripped down so there was a lot of cleavage. No need to swipe it twice and certainly no need to add in extra zeros. IE, when someone pays for a $6.00 beer, that's 6 decimal zero, zero., NOT 6 zero, zero decimal... I know math must be confusing for someone who spends their evenings in a fratastic marina mating ground, but please review your algebra and register skills to prevent from accounts inexcusably diving into overdraft and subsequently preventing any further purchases or withdrawals until this lovely establishment decides to follow my directions many days later by calling the bank. how i ended up in the Marina post-happy hour on a Friday night, i do not know (peer pressure?), but i felt a little better about the decision after we ended up at Monaghan's. the ratio of DBs to cool, down-to-earth folk seemed favorable - the party next to us had a pizza delivered in and offered us a slice.. kinda nice, right? the kicker was the drink specials. $4 for a Stoli drink and $3 for Red Stripe on Fridays = SOLD. and the other nights' specials advertised looked equally fantastic. oh, kicker #2: FREE POPCORN. freshly popped. all you can eat. YES!!!! Monaghans!! A Cub's bar! A fricking Cubs bar!! In the city! I have been looking for this place awhile. I guess it took me longer than it should have since I don't hit up the Marina very often. The staff is totally cool, they got nice TV screens and a chill crowd. Went here on a Friday night a few weeks ago and the crowd started to build up throughout the night up until I left at around midnight. Jukebox is a SCAM on busy nights! Be careful when you put your money on the jukebox during Fridays/Saturdays as they will literally skip your songs in order to play whatever is popular. I put $5 of songs and they played the first two, then they skipped (seriously) the other couple of songs after 1 or 2 seconds each. My friend put another $5 and they also skipped ALL his songs and started playing R&B, hip-hop for the rest of the night. Yes, they have cheap drinks but they will take your money on the Jukebox if they think it's not appealing for the crowd. read more

Been to this bar 2 times awhile back. A very casual crowd more like a pub like setting and there are always drink specials at this bar. The crowd does get pretty rowdy and the night goes. More men there than women for the most part. And parking is difficult to find so be prepare to bring your walking shoes if you don't plan to pay for parking. This is a no-frills sports bar. It's exactly what you expect it to be. They did recently remodel and the interior looks a lot nicer on the inside. Do I have any Chicago sports fans? Chicago bar that reminds me of a good number of neighborhood bars in Chicago. Nothing fancy, just a pub with beer and liquor. I don't understand reviews complaining about the fact that it's a cubs/bears bar....apparently for some it's confusing that one bar in a city 2,000 miles from where a team with one of the largest fan bases in pro sports is located would have an allegiance to that team?
