Came here as the first stop on a cross city bar crawl, we picked it because they were open early in the neighborhood we planned to start in. We expected it to be pretty dead since it was early on in the day, but they had a UFC match going, so it was actually fairly crowded. This spot seems to be a pretty popular sports bar, they had a bunch of TVs and even a small projector, and I noticed some Manchester United SF Red Army stuff on the wall as well as a bunch of other European football memorabilia. They offer a pretty decent number of beers on draft, have some canned seltzers and other miscellaneous beverages, and of course a full wall of liquor. They have some covered outdoor seating in two small parklets.

More people - still only ONE bartender

Came in for the UFC fight and the place was packed. $10 cover - no biggie. But ONE BARTENDER and he is awesome but overwhelmed by the crowd and the fact that he is serving AND cleaning up glasses while dozens wait for drinks. Whoever owns this place needs to give the bartender a huge raise and hire at least another person or two for nights like this. Again - great bartender - but the owners need to spend more to serve better

It's not easy finding a sports bar that will play tennis, but Danny Coyle's fits the bill! A friend called ahead to see if they would play the Indian Wells men's final one Sunday (as he had had trouble watching the semifinals at other bars the day before on Saturday) and Danny Coyle's accommodated us, even letting us put it on the big TV! This was a big deal because it was March Madness season, and there were quite a few college basketball fans trickling in (especially Creighton at the time.) Service was perfect, very friendly and helpful and jokey. I like how they have three bathrooms. The decor is fun--I'll be back to watch soccer with my brother. Looks like it's the spot to watch Man U and Premier League. The pool table is also fun--be careful so you don't get hit by a cue. Would recommend the Bloody Mary as well--I forgot to say don't put in too much vodka (hey, it was a Sunday afternoon and I had to bike home!) and the amount of alcohol was perfect. There's parklets outside and a nice bike rack so you can drink and ride and watch your bike. I'll be back and will tell friends and relatives about it as well :) I'll also try to make it back for Wednesday night trivia one week!

Absolute Class Joint!!! The Wife- "Cleanest bathrooms" Game sucked because Man Utd is trash... but the environment was so fun!

Great ambiance for watching sports! Beer selection was good. At the time of me being there, chips were the only snack option. But it was a wide variety!

This is an awesome sports pub and the owner is a great guy and super friendly. On a sunny day the front windows are open and the ambiance is perfect. There's also a parklet with plenty of seating if you'd prefer to be outside. The best part is, this is an Official Manchester United bar and match days are a blast! Welcoming to all fans, but especially Man Utd fans! Come sing a few chants, have a pint and meet some new friends while we cheer on our Reds to victory! GGMU!!

My first day-drinking sojourn in 15 months and it was fantastic. The sun was shining and there was no wind. If this was a sign of better days ahead, I am optimistic. A few buddies and I knocked back several pints of Stella while catching. I hadn't seen one friend in years so it was great to drink some cold beer and a warm, SF day. Our server was on pointe with making sure our beers kept coming. This is a great spot to remember that life is better spent outdoors.

This is now an official Manchester United Supporters Pub. Had so much fun here the other weekend. A bunch of fans gather here for every game and the atmosphere is electric! They chant, they sing, they drink. This is the best place to watch live games if you're a soccer fan. Loads of HDTVs, pool tables, darts and Guinness on draught. Brian, the owner, is a great guy and is also a United supporter. If you're a United supporter too, join them: http://linktr.ee/redarmysf

Good spot to get a tasty pint of beer and watch a game! Wish they had a food menu, but they let you bring in food.

Bar was packed when we left around 10:30 am on a Sunday!

What time does trivia begin on Wednesday?

    Hi Erin @8pm

How early do you recommend arriving to get a seat for trivia?

    30 min or so

Is there still trivia nights here?

    Yes! Every Wednesday.

Do they usually play PPV fights? I'm looking for a place to watch the Pacquiao-Broner fight this Saturday.

Yes. Danny Coyles is very reliable for showing fights. The do typically charge cover for most MMA/PPV fights.

Are kids (age 7) allowed here during day to view a soccer match?

    No only adults

Will there be a good number of Seahawks fans there tonight?

    Yes

I stopped by around 4:30 p.m. and there were a few tables where I saw folks finishing up their work day on their laptops with a beer. It's neither overly crowded, nor overly loud, which is perfect for getting work done. Since it was the World Cup and many guests would be camping out for the entire match, table service has a per person minimum spend of $25. This is a really a non-issue because a cocktail is around $15, so two drinks, or one drink with some food, will easily hit this minimum. My wife and I shared crispy pork schnitzel ($17) and an order of their deviled eggs ($12). The deviled eggs were nicely seasoned and included a small salad shrimp on top for some variety. The pork schnitzel was perfectly fried and the potatoes in the included side-salad was well-cooked and not over dressed. I would recommend enjoying the schnitzel with some mustard. Both drinks that I ordered -- an Old Fashioned and a Boulvardier, were well prepared. No notes here. Service here was top notch. Throughout our stay, our server checked up on us multiple times and we never had to wait long to place another order for drinks. Tipping options on the receipt include pre-calculated 18%, 20%, and 22% options (on top of the 5% SF Mandate). Last but not least, the restaurant had clean bathrooms and a bunch of large TV screens on every wall. If you're looking to watch a sports match, Sam's Tavern is the place to go!

Cocktail offerings are also below average, and it's strange that they offer one Pinot Noir for their red options. (This is California!) And there is one bartender/manager who isn't familiar with many standard cocktails... So you have to work around these limitations...at a large bar. Evidence of this two-star review is the low turnout of customers on even a weekend night. Just 2-3 people in this large space. Playoff game nights are better, but hardly the standing room only situation we saw at the old SFAC. It's a pity because they would have tons of business given the lack of big sports bars in this part of town. We don't know how they keep the lights on now. I hope they improve their game -- because they need a serious timeout. (In comparison, check out The Fishbowl up the street...they are packed every Friday, big game or not. Small but mighty. And they often have just the one very capable bartender doing all of the work, and keeping regulars and other guests happy!)
