My friend recommended this place to catch the Bears/Eagles game last Sunday as it is suppose to be a bar for Bears' fans. It's a nice place. Had several huge TVs playing various NFL games. The bartender is super nice/cool. It wasn't too terribly crowded. The crowd was chill. The smell from the bathroom is a little overwhelming so I don't recommend sitting too close to the bathrooms. They don't serve food but you can bring in food from other places. Cheap beer prices. Didn't like that there was a PACKERS fan at a Bears' bar but it was cool to see them lose. hehehe There was also a group of really loud, obnoxious girls who were not watching any sports! Hopefully they won't ever return to ruin anyone else's experience of this place. Would love to hear the Bears' victory song when we score too! :) read more

I'm giving this place five stars based on the service and general experience. Walked in during happy hour with the missus, looking for a very regional, non-nationally televised hockey game. Took me five minutes to even ask if they could put it on because typically this is like negotiating the SALT treaty or the eye candy is completely clueless about how to actually operate a remote.NOT HERE. The young lady behind the bar (day bartender) went through a search and found my game in about 30 seconds. Happy hour beers and when she ran out of one mid pour she gave it to me freebie poured me another brand didn't charge me for either. Awesome Staff! Shout out Jamal, Eric, Patrick. This bar is awesome because of the rather cheap drinks, for the relatively located bar in the Marina. The entire staff is friendly and they always do a good job in getting really hot bartenders (Diana). Cocktails are on the strong side and they have great popcorn. They play great hip hop music well mixed with a little old school and new rap songs. Also they attract very hot women to come here. Good place to start or end up. Go here if you want: friendly, awesome staff, strong drinks, popcorn, hip hop music, hot girls, get drunk. Do not go here if you don't want: a very loud and crowded place, usual long bathroom lines. I used to think this place was ok....until I met Jabba the Hutt aka the owner. I sat next to him on an empty stool watching the Giants game. I was also next to another friend of his. In between innings I stepped out for a phone call. I asked his friend to watch my stool/drink for me. They evidently didn't care and the bartender took my drink away. When I returned back to my stool the drink was gone. I told the bartender the situation and she was cool enough to bring me another. Immediately Jabba the owner starting yelling that this new drink was "on me" since I didn't cover up my previous drink with a coaster. Oh Jabba...you are really going to yell at a customer like that?? I immediately asked to leave and refused the drink. It took them 10 minutes to get my credit card and bill for my 1/2 beer. When a Chicago Bear's game is on this place gets packed with Bears fans!! They have decently priced drinks, free popcorn, and will let you bring in your own food! There are plenty of tvs so see any game that is on is not a problem. There is also a pool table, which during Bears games gets covered as people use it for seating. A little out of my way but such a good place with friendly staff that I make it a point to come here. Also, just down the block is a really great sandwich place if you're looking for food to bring in. read more

Are you kiddin' me?! This place has got a 4 star rating?!?! I hope that it's due to all the Cubbies fans that have totally tipped the scales 'cause this place is terrible. I checked this place out about a month ago with some friends. The music was rockin' and the drinks were good. But, then again, it's a bar. The standard deviation from one vodka soda to the next is pretty slim. The clientele is pretty much what you'd expect from this 'hood. Meatheads. And what's worse, on the night that I was there the ratio of boys to girls was probably 70/30. The real problem, though, was the bartenders. One of 'em, let's call him the blonde lummox, looked like he was gonna fight somebody (anybody) at the drop of a hat. The other guy, let's call him pig-face in a bandana, kept inviting a friend of mine upstairs. You might be asking yourself, "why?" Well it's because that's where he lived. WTF?! I was so excited walking in because I found out it was a chicago bar and that's where I am from and it is my first time in San Fran. I'm at the location in marina, san fran on pierce. The bar back was a doll but the one bartender (named siena) was so rude and so unhelpful (she acted like she was overly cool) that she ruined my entire experience and my group and I eventually ended up leaving. I work in the service industry so out of anyone, I think I have a good understanding for what a busy night is like. Overall, I unfortunately wouldn't come back...talk about a let down, which should never be the case, over a weekend where the Giants are in the running for the world series championship. read more

I was a bit turned off by Monaghan's the first time we passed it (looked like Frat people), but we walked around the neighborhood and both my husband and brother wanted to watch the Dodgers - Giants game, so we came back to this place. My sister in law and I got seats by the bar and the bartenders were friendly and provided great service. The place got packed quick, and the crowd was great. Yes, a bit fratty, but good. The only problem was the restroom was way in the back, and it was a hassle to get through the crowd. The bartenders were taking shots, and so we were inspired to take some too. A group of guys ordered shots and I think they treated all four of us to shots. (I was really to too wasted to know.) The drinks were inexpensive, but not watered down in the least. We will definitely return when we go back to San Francisco. FYI: We did not mention we were Dodger fans, not after what happened to the poor Giants fan in LA. read more

Bigger, faster, harder, stronger, version 2.0 of Monaghan's retains all the sweet divey goodness of 1.0 and puts it into a larger space that somehow still makes me feel like I'm constantly getting a giant hug. I like the bar itself - decently priced drinks and pretty spacious for an SF bar. But the crowd does get a bit FRATTY on the weekends. Prepare yourself for weak pick up lines and big sweaty boys knocking your drink out of your hand when it gets super crowded. Being an Indians fan I was "meh" about the whole idea that it was a Cubs bar, but glad there are actual baseball fans out there (yep, calling out the Giant's fanbase). I asked the bar tender to make something that's not a typical dive-ish bar drink ,it was more like a Bourbon and Branch cocktail and she made it for half the price!. I don't normally leave reviews unless I felt I was obligated to do so. First time randomly walking past this place last night and decided to go and get a drink. Bad idea. I had no issues with management or the security. The bar was already packed by the end we got in. Super crowded. Nasty drunk inappropriate folks who were very rude. I thought it might have been a frat/sorority house and I should have read the reviews here before deciding to go in. Douche to the max. And to the girls, it's one thing to be drinking and having a good time, but being a nasty drunk and allowing men to grope you in front of others is just classless. I never behaved that way when I was in college and after college, I still held it together. Impression and reputation is everything ladies and gents. Crowd deserves a two since they were loud, obnoxious, shoving. I know how to have a great time but after finally getting my two shots in which were pretty cheap, I dashed out of there so fast. I'll probably come again for the cheap drinks and give the place the benefit of the doubt by coming earlier and leaving to another scene though. And to the senseless idiot who approached me and said my wallet looks fake, "a. It's real thank you very much. B. as a hererosexual guy, it shouldn't matter or does it? c. If you're not paying my bills I suggest you keep it to yourself and work on your shoes buddy" . Were you trying to insult me and looking for a fight? Not really my type of place to hang out, except on a Chicago Bears night! Even a few weeks ago for the game vs. 49ers, there were still a pretty decent mix of fans. They had my beer, my team and my friendly fans (whas up lincoln park?!) . We had plenty of room to enjoy the game, and the people were mostly normal, but I wouldnt risk it on a non-game night. Ill be back for the next bears game, but any other night I'll stick with my regular joints. read more
