First time here, previously enjoyed the restaurants that were here before. Staff were very nice to my grandchildren who were with me. Nothing overally impressive. Server was nice but not very attentive. They may be short-staffed. I ordered a Michelob Ultra but what she brought didn't taste at all like what I ordered. She apologized & replaced but I didn't end up drinking that either. Food was typical to what I feel I can get at most Mexican restaurants. Our order was queso, Fajita steak quesadilla, hard beef taco, chicken tenders with fries. I feel like there quesadilla portion was smaller than other places. For example, my go to Durango's gives double the portion with their quesadilla. Awkward layout of seating and again nothing overall impressive. read more

Monarca is hands down our favorite Mexican restaurant in town! From the moment we walk in, we're treated like family. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and always full of good energy. One of the biggest reasons we keep coming back is Kentor. He always goes above and beyond to make sure we feel at home. Whether it's a friendly chat, remembering our favorite dishes, or just making sure everything is perfect, he truly makes every visit special. The food? Incredible. Every dish is packed with flavor, consistently fresh, and served with genuine care. We love getting an occasional beer or a cocktail. We were in the area and were looking for somewhere we had never been before. Found Monarco and decided to give it a try. Glad we did. They have all the usual Mexican food, but everything on the plate had flavor. Chips and salsa-not greasy, hint of spice in salsa. I got the chicken chimichangas-excellent, fried crispy and covered with queso, but the queso was tasty. The refried beans were a nice deep brown color, not gray. My husband got the chipotle chicken quesadilla. He really enjoyed it and ate all his rice. I had a strawberry margarita, small house tequila, frozen. It wasn't too sweet and it was good. They have premium margaritas and I may try one next time. I recommend Monarca, service is fast and friendly. They seem to care you get things the way you want them. Met a friend at Monarca on Lane Allen Road today for lunch. She got a chicken fajita burrito, I got the huarache sencillo. Huarache was tasty but I would have liked more topping, my friend said her burrito was fantastic, and the lunch portion was beyond generous. Chips were nothing special but I always like when there are multiple salsas available. Green was flavorful but not all all spicy to me, red also good flavor and would be pretty hot for most. Prompt and friendly service. Overall Monarca won't be topping La Taquiza Taqueria Centro or El Rancho Tapatio as favorites for me, but I would go again if a friend suggested it. read more

I had the steak burrito, which was big enough for two and very good. My granddaughter who is from Veracruz Mexico had fried tilapia and said it was very good also. I will definitely go back and try the whole fried fish which looked wonderful . The service was excellent. read more

Several Convention goers recommended this place after dining there so we decided to walk the three blocks and give it a try. Our sweet server said it was her first day but we would not have known it had she not told us. So sweet and attentive. Order was perfect. Big portions and cooked perfectly. went at 3:30 place was pretty empty like you'd expect , which might explain the overwhelming smell of cleaning products waiter was nice but saw him leave before we were finished and took 10 minutes for anyone to notice we were done, let alone ask if we needed refills on drinks so.. food! the blandest mex we've had so far in Lexington .
