Convenient location near the Lexington Opera House and also our parking spot to be able to grab a quick bite to eat. We arrived around 11:30 and were finished and able to cross the corner in plenty of time to attend the 1 PM matinee. We were seated in a booth in the bar area and a handful of tables were in service. Staff were friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable. Restaurant decor is eclectic and interesting. Noise level is mild. I ordered the vegan quesa jackfruit tacos, which was a bit spicy and very filling. My friend ordered the quesabirria street tacos and a margarita and was also pleased. We went in there a weekend of a music festival so naturally, they were crazy busy and a little understaffed. But overall, the staff was friendly for the most part. Slow, but friendly. This review is for their new Wagyu taco. We looked at it and thought that is crazy overpriced. But we ordered one Just cause we wanted the experience. 10/10 We ended up going back later that day just to get another one. It's worth the price. My wife and I stopped there at the recommendation of some friends in Kentucky as we were just passing through. The place was beautiful with happy music and the food was excellent! I went with a tour group to try local spokes. It's walkable and located downtown. The atmosphere was great and loved the music. We got to sample the food. Had the mac and cheese donuts with corn. I really enjoy a trip to Agave and Rye. Last night, I enjoyed a fabulous watermelon margarita and great service, despite the restaurant being unusually warm. Not sure if they were experiencing AC issue, but it was hotter than hades in Kentucky yesterday with a side of suffocating humid, and stuck in a six person booth, I melted. Despite that - the staff still provided amazing service, the manager was on the floor working alongside staff, and everyone sweat together with positivity. This place is a museum of wild fun, quirky decor, good music and amazing tacos. I did a epic taco flight, to me thats the way to go, they are a bit smaller but so many choices and very unique. The GANGSTA, The Bomb, The Cat's Meow, all so good and so different. Cocktail i got Hot & Juicy, this was amazing. Took my friend here, as he hadn't been to agave and rye before, and it'd been a while for me. I got a taco flight with the bang bang, the tae tae, and the becky I think. My friend just got 1 taco. Good service, our waiter made recommendations to my friend. We liked the decorations of this location. I like the other location more, as usually this one is too loud for me, but it was pretty quiet with the snowy day. We stopped at Agave & Rye after our paint and sip in the same area. The inside was a testament to fusion. There was a quote by Einstein with his face that looked as if it had been graffitied on the wall. The seats were amazing comfortable and the service was really quick. The highlight of the show, without a doubt, was the Mac n cheese beignets. By themselves they are good, but when you get a full fork of bacon, beignets, and the spicy maple syrup it is an amazing splash of flavor. The nachos were phenomenal in their own right. The birria was tender and didn't have that overpowering cinnamon you find in a lot of birria. Each full bite was a reward. The Plain Jane was great. The simple cheese and ground beef combo was warm and melted in your mouth. The Rooster was a little tough to eat as a taco. The giant piece of chicken on top pushed everything out as you bit it. The fry on it was so crisp that a not well chewed bite taught my throat a lesson (that is totally on me not the establishment). I also got the Love Cushion with guac between the two tortillas which caused a slide out each time I bit it. The flavors were good but I would have preferred more Nashville hot sauce on it. All in, a great experience and totally worth the stop. You won't go wrong here and you'll love every bite. read more

I wish we discovered this restaurant on our first day in Lexington! We would have kept coming back for every meal. The funky & eccentric decorations were so fun and definitely matched their unconventional tacos. Their epic tacos were EPIC. Imagine one giant taco that has both a soft and hard taco shell. You can even add a Love Cushion in your taco which is a delicious layer of queso, guac or beans in between the shells. This idea is INGENIOUS! One epic taco and some shared appetizers and I was stuffed. Or maybe it was from the giant pitchers of margaritas my group shared... - The Crown Jewel - Rich and flavorful with essentially lobster on truffle mac and cheese in a giant taco - The Filthy Fajita - My husband loved this one and tasted more like a traditional taco. - Sugar Daddy of the Plain Jane - Ingredients were also more of a traditional taco but stuffed to the brim in a giant taco. They have super creative tacos that we didn't try. They have one with kangaroo meat mixed with mac and cheese beignets and another one with flaming hot cheetos, shrimp and sticky rice.
