It saddens me that nothing has changed with all the bad reviews written. So many office apologies, yet same situation over & over. What will it take it.... I was with Monarch for years. Started from the office at the Mall, then it shut down & was moved to North Richland Hills. That too got shut down & I was relocated to the Bedford location. The plan was simple, a cleaning. I walked in & signed the form with the agreed payment & was called in to be worked on. Out of nowhere, they wanted to do xrays. When results came, i suddenly needed all kinds of extra work changing my total to $948 out of pocket! I explained that at my last visit, the old location gave me glowing remarks saying how I had been flossing & brushing good like they wanted! I only paid $235 & the one before that i paid $155. How & why now would this new one cost almost $1k! Someone was definitely trying to take advantage of me. There's no way my teeth have changed more in these few months than they ever did in the last 6/7 years total since being with Monarch! Impossible! So, of course after much debate, I did not do anything due to the clear predatory move for treatment changing at the last minute. This poor experience left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). I knew that had it been the other way around, the office would have no issue quickly reminding clients changes cannot be allowed after signatures being they are legal & binding. The reviews speak for themselves. If this is the way they continue to treat new and existing clients, it will be of no surprise to hear in the future that at this rate, another Monarch will be shut down again... So please... This was not the case as I was just in for an office visit and overheard your receptionist talking very poorly and loudly about a young girl who is a patient there. This is so embarrassing as you are an adult talking about a child and loudly that I know her mother had to have heard. This is so unprofessional and can not believe that you allow this type of behavior with your staff. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE! Doctor recommended treatment that wasn't needed, I asked the front office to review the treatment plan with the doctor and they told me no I couldn't talk to the doctor and that if I didn't want to buy a special toothbrush and toothpaste that I ALREADY OWNED, and do extra screenings before my treatment, that they wouldn't continue treatment on me and told me to go elsewhere. So I did. Horrible care for the patients. Front office especially doesn't know what they are talking about and doctors are trying to make more money off of you. read more

Had a terrible experience here. First of all the places not very clean and it took them forever to do my x-rays, which they shouldn't have had to do because I had just emailed them all of the x-rays I had done at a different dentist the week prior. I was there to get a consultation to possibly see an endodontist for a root canal and by the time I came out, they wanted to charge me $1300 for a cleaning, which was ridiculous because I had my teeth cleaned about two months before that. They also couldn't give me a price for how much root canal appointment would be. They kept giving me the runaround for what the pricing would be. I finally just had to cancel because I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone and I felt like they were trying to charge me more than needed to be. My insurance said that a root canal should be out of pocket $250 but nobody at the front desk would give me an actual price. It took me four phone calls and finally I had to go up in person to get a referral from them so that I could go to another endodontist. I wind up going to another endodontist who was wonderful gave me the full price ahead of time. I'm so glad I did not come to them anymore. read more

The staff is nice and personable, never had any issues with them. The pricing is my concern. Rates seem to be far above average for dental services, even with insurance. My dentist seems knowledgeable but I would prefer a dentist with a bit more experience especially with patients over 40. The hygienist is nice but a bit heavy handed. This is an update to my previous review. After closely reviewing my records, I discovered serious inconsistencies in billing that I have since reported to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. Patients should use caution when it comes to orthodontic treatment billing, especially where "discounts" or promotional offers are involved. These may seem reasonable up front but can later be absorbed into treatment costs through adjusted coding. Oh--and also, beware of the permanent retainer charge and being told it won't be covered by insurance. Depending on your plan, a permanent retainer may not be excluded. Ortho treatment typically includes one set of retainers. If you opt for a permanent, you will not need two. I was asked if I wanted a permanent retainer and told it wouldn't be covered--before the doctor even made a recommendation. I agreed, thinking it would be easier to maintain, but everything moved quickly. They hand you paperwork, but the process is fast-paced. You must stop, read, and make sure you understand in case they throw these types of questions at you. I also identified questionable charges related to a gingivitis visit, along with a separate $105 toothbrush charge. The way these were structured and applied across bundled treatment raised concerns during my review. There seems to be a pattern of these high-cost toothbrushes being integrated into billing across visits. I would also stay cautious when being diagnosed with gingivitis--just saying. Do your research and don't hesitate to seek a second opinion. Lastly, keep in mind: just because a procedure is pre-authorized by insurance doesn't mean the billing is accurate. Always request itemized documentation and verify how your benefits are being applied and how your treatment is coded. I have confirmed that custom fees are being billed. Be aware of what you're paying for, and ask questions. read more

DO NOT go to this location!!! Too many issues to list, choose another location/dentist. Main issue is they over charge you, and the dentist do not seem to be very experienced. Office manager is a bit rude as well. Same as other customers, went for cleaning and they tried to tell me I needed more than the basic cleaning, and tried to charge me $321. I requested a normal cleaning that my insurance pays for, and they refused so i had to leave. Due to my company changing dental insurance, I had to find a new dentist. Monarch was one of my few choices, and I heard bad things before, but thought I would try. The first appt. i had they said i needed root canals and crowns redone, and i went ahead with it since an independent dentist told me similar. Cost a lot of money, but the dentist was actually pretty good. I finally a couple months later got an initial cleaning scheduled, and then notified my 'home' office was closing down, so had to go to Bedford office. When i got back to the room at the office, there were a few different people going in and out, checking my gums, a Dr. ( I guess) checking for other issues. Sat there a while. What's taking so long? I've been getting cleanings for 50 plus years and it never felt like this. Another girl says they are making my plan estimate. I said I'm just here for cleaning. Another girl comes to me with a piece of paper, saying it will be $1,200 for all the work i need, or $700 for basic cleaning!! i was in shock. I've never paid over $5 for a office visit/cleaning. The absolute worst representation of customer service we have ever experienced. My wife had an implant placed a few years ago, we are needing to have a new crown placed. We need the implant information to be able to give to her new dentist, so that a new crown can be made. The office says they have no record? No medical records that they legally must keep? I was Skeptical in trying a new place. But after visiting the location in Bedford I was very pleased. The staff at this location is the best starting from the office manager Alicia and the staff. After a disastrous visit to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed with Monarch Dental. I will NEVER go back there again! And strongly encourage people NOT TOO. I called several times this month to make sure that all of the paperwork was completed from my Drs. Escpecially the medical release form from my neurologist. Employees there told me the paperwork was complete. And I was good to go for Thursday. I called them 2 days before Thursday (the day I was to have then removed) crying because my mouth had become infected from the impaction. And they even told me that I needed antibiotics and demanded that I make an appointment just for that. Told them if they were going to charge me for that visit to forget it, if I'm going to spend $600 to get my wisdom teeth removed then I'm not going in just for a regular visit for antibiotics who isn't even the oral surgeon that's supposed to be taking my wisdom's out. It's now Thursday, the day im supposed to get me teeth out. Got there a little before my scheduled apt, which was at 8 AM. Come to find out they LOST MY PAPERWORK. Asked them several times to double check it, to make sure everything is in order for my apt. I, yes I said I, spend 1 whole HOUR calling Drs offices to get the paperwork back together again. Spent another 30 minutes waiting for the surgeon to go through the scans. Brought me back to get my vitals, etc; The surgeon came in, asked me some questions, and then straight up told me that HE was not equipped fo MY wisdom teeth temoval. Because I "have too many issues to deal with!" What he did next almost broke me, he walked out of the room! After I started crying about how much pain I have been in for WEEKS all he gave was were 3 prescription an antibiotic, oral rinse, and ibuprofen. Then, as I was in the waiting room for information and the prescriptions. I contacted my insurance company who told me that they will find an oral surgeon who takes medical and dental. Because apparently wisdom teeth can (depending on you insurance) fall under BOTH medical and dental. No one told me this! Especially not Monarch, all they wanted from me was my money. My insurance gave me ALL of the information for Dr John McPhillips. He is amazing! Told me all I needed to know. Made me feel awhole lot better than when I left Monarch in tears. We should have read the reviews before going to this place so we didn't waste our time. I took my daughter, a 19 year old to have a routine checkup and cleaning. She was examined by Dr. Karine Marcom. Dr. Marcom told my daughter that she has gingivitis which needed to be treated right away before any cleaning could occur. The treatment would cost $334.80 after insurance. My daughter called me in to let me know about the situation. It surprised me to hear that she had gingivitis because I know my daughter takes good care of her teeth. I talked to the hygienist and asked her if we can just do regular cleaning and come back to do the gingivitis treatment at a later time. The hygienist informed me that the gingivitis treatment would have to be done before regular cleaning. I told them that I would need a second opinion with another dentist before committing to anything. I felt so uneasy with the whole process as little detail was provided and we were being urged to do the cleaning that day. Later, I took my daughter to a different dentist. Sure enough, the dentist said she has no gingivitis, everything was normal and the the teeth cleaning was done. I wil never return to Monarch Dental again, and I will not recommend to any of my friends or anyone. Either the this place just wants to get your money or the dentist is very low quality. read more

My experience was good the first year I was going here but that changed last year. In July 2022 I went in to have a cavity fixed and filled in. Everything seemed to go fine but I still had numbness from the shot 8 hours later. I called the office and the office manager stated that was normal. The next day I was no longer numb but my jaw was really sore and my ear would pop when I opened my mouth. I spoke with the office again and they said this was normal to give it three weeks and if it was not better call them back. Three weeks later I went in for x-rays, was given names to ENT's and was told this happened sometimes and it should self correct but if it didn't to make an appointment with an ENT I was also given a RX for a muscle relaxer and it help temporarily. Another appointment was made with their oral surgeon and he stated I was having muscle spam's in my jaw and it could corrected with 4 Botox shots in my jaw. When the office manager called to set up the appointment she advised me the cost and I stated they should cover the shots since insurance would not cover the issue was no fault of my own. A year has passed and I'm still having issues and still cannot afford the shots. read more

Dr. Dean extracted lower teeth yesterday at the Bedford office, and Hannah, the office manager, gave me two telephone numbers to call if I had questions or problems. Today, the next day, I have significant problems. No one answers at the Bedford office number even though they are supposed to be open. The other is Dr. Dean's personal cell. It is not in service. I need to talk with Dr. Dean today, and cannot find a working number for her at Bedford or at Corporate. I have a significant problem from the extractions and cannot talk with anyone. This is for the endodontist Dr Daniel Ingel. I have very bad dentist phobia. I have had really bad experiences with dentists since childhood. This is why my teeth has gotten so bad. This guy was patient with me and took care of my root canal. I was supposed to get to rootcanals but the other tooth was too bad to save. I do have a really big hole and more than half the tooth is missing. So I understood. That needs an extraction which will be scheduled later. My choice. But the root canal went well. I saw before, during, and after days of how far he cleaned the canals and it did not hurt at all. I was so surprised since I am so scared of the dentist. Next is the crown so I will update for that dentist. But our first meeting with the general dentist whom is doing my crown was very nice and understanding last week when I came in for my xrays. read more

I admit I was a little nervous coming here after reading the reviews on here but I was blown away by how pleasant, patient, and reassuring the staff was when I was there yesterday getting my very first root canal (don't procrastinate - take care of your teeth, folks!). They got me a same day appointment when I left work early due to an awful toothache and X-rays confirmed unneeded a root canal since one of my fillings had fallen out a few months ago and I hadn't gotten it fixed. I've never had a root canal before and you know how people cringe when talking about them so I was pretty nervous about it. Got antibiotics and pain killers The receptionists have been nice and upbeat when I check in as well as when I am leaving. I love this place and absolutely recommend it to friends. I'm terrible with names but there is a dental assistant here, I think her name is Maria.. the Browns fan, is my favorite person there. She's hilarious and it's always a pleasure to see her. I had read bad reviews of what I thought was this office but it turned out to be the other office in Bedford. I am sitting in the waiting room and it is just me and another person so not overcrowded at all. The receptionist seems very friendly. I am actually here to see a periodontics so experience may be different for regular dentists. I just finished my exam and I have to say first off that Dr. Benesh has a very friendly face and manor about him. He made me feel very comfortable. He examined me and explained the soft tissue grafting procedure that I had expected to be examined for. Overall a pleasant office visit. read more

Do not come here brought my daughter here for braces everything was fine then the day they were suppose to put them on they said she needed to see a specialist to perform a chain and bracket procedure which was an extraction of a tooth and a gold chain was glued and linked to the new tooth to help pull it out of her gums and into place. After paying almost 4000 for her braces that procedure was an additional 753.20 out of pocket after insurance. Moving forward she has her regular appointments every 3 weeks every appointment she has to tighten her braces they always have a new expensive procedure she has to get done but I opt out of them. 6 months after she has had the surgical procedure of the chain and bracket the orthodontist says that it won't work and that she will need to have a dental implant (false tooth) for that missing tooth. I once again told them no I don't want another procedure done she then stated it's also infected (it is not I got a second opinion) and that she needs to see the specialist again which was estimated at around $500 out of pocket. 3 weeks after this she had her regular tightening of her braces and then orthodontist went to activate the chain and pulled on it and broke it she panicked and my daughter was in so much pain! She then informed me that she broke the chain and I would have to see the specialist to put another one back in place (and get this bc of her mistake not only did my daughter suffer but I would have to pay that 753.20 out of pocket again) I then stated I don't feel like I have to pay for that since she broke the chain and she was at fault she then told me no she's not at fault accidents happen and that she's not responsible for the bill and that I will have to pay to have my daughters situation fixed! My daughter is now sitting with a huge hole in her gums because I can not afford to just pay another $753.20 to have the "accident" the orthodontist made fixed. Do not come here they are just looking for anyway to make top dollars off of you and give you horrible service! I guess in this situation its "YOU DONT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!" its a total rip off!!! So this office is an older office with an awesome staff!!! Anita the hygienist is a rock star!! She explains everything and educates what best way to take care of you teeth at home. Love the tooth brush she recommended! Disclaimer: I went to dental school. I've worked in many offices including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and orthodontics. I came in as a new patient for a checkup and cleaning. My appt was at 11:30 and I showed up 30 minutes early for paperwork, like I was advised to do. I was not seen until 12:15 and I was out the door before 1:00. If I could give them 0 stars I would. There was an elderly couple at the counter being told their insurance plan wasn't valid when I came in. The receptionist (who clearly knows NOTHING about teeth) kept telling this couple that "their system can't process it". As someone who has worked in many offices, I know that's a load of horseshit. This couple was charged $236 for two cleanings! Two cleanings! In my experience, without insurance, this couple should have been charged no more than $100. That was just the start. I was given a large stack of papers to fill out as I was a new customer. I was shocked by how much of my new patient paperwork was them trying to make money from me. Most of it was about whitening and braces. Asking what I would like to change about my smile. How *this* and *this* will improve the health of my teeth. Please. We all know all you have to do is floss to make your dentist happy. I finished the paperwork and explained to a different receptionist that I wasn't interested in anything other than a cleaning and a checkup at this time. He told me that was fine and I can change my mind at any time. On to X-rays. First things first- there was a cockroach on the floor near the pano X-ray machine. Nice! I bet there's roaches in their Autoclave too! I wasn't asked by the hygienist if I was pregnant/breast feeding and I wasn't asked to remove my ear piercings prior to having my pano X-ray done. Also nice. I will say the hygienist took great X-rays though. All of them looked textbook. I applaud her for that. Now on to the "cleaning". I was brought to an exam room by the same hygienist who did the X-rays. I was told to hang my bag and sit in the chair and the doctor would see me soon. Odd, because in my experience the hygienists and the assistants do the initial work- cleaning, scaling, probing, fluoride BEFORE the doctor comes in. When the doctor finally came in she didn't introduce herself, just said hello and proceeded to try to sell me all of the shit I told the receptionist I didn't want. I told her no. She did a very quick periodontal probing and determined I have gingivitis. I do not. I have very healthy gums and have never had any symptoms of dry mouth or bad breath. I didn't receive any cleaning or treatment for the one tooth I had sensitivity on. I was told that would be done a different day. (?????) With that, another lady who yet again didn't introduce herself, I assume an assistant, came in and told me to follow her. She brought me to the front desk where I was told they don't do a cleaning on your first visit but the receptionist could assist me in setting up another appointment. (I literally booked this appointment for a cleaning and they were aware of that) At the desk the receptionist didn't ask how anything went. She told me I owed $136 today for the joke of a visit I had, and that none of my treatment plan would be covered by my insurance. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. I know DAMN WELL that BCBS covers A LOT. The treatment plan they wrote me included a gingivitis cleaning, oral irrigation, and 4 SMALL occlusal cavities the doctor told me needed to be done for "preventative maintenance". My total was $1472. My mouth is not a lawn mower and I do not need PM on it. How about a sealant? Not with Monarch Dental! They go straight to the expensive stuff. For the receptionist to tell me none of my treatment plan would be covered by BCBS is absolutely insane. This place is a joke. The doctor is a joke. I paid my $136 for today's visit and with that I will never be back. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. They are a scam. Edit: Another thing worth mentioning is how they rescheduled me 3 times in one week when I made an appointment at this location months ago! Do I have to give it a star at all? Several bad experiences, they botched an implant so I needed to try again at a later date. Went there for the appointment, they looked at it again, rescheduled the appointment.....and charged me. That happened twice. They charged me several thousand dollars, i told them I didnt feel like I should pay for that, so they threatened to send me to collections. In good faith I paid it off , thats been several years ago. I recently went back to them for a crown and they botched that as well. To this day, I can't bite down anything on that tooth or drink hot or cold beverages. I called and spoke with the manager and she told me they would research the issue and get back to me. The crown fell out. I went there about three weeks ago, and the dentist then, Dr Coleman, she was able to re-cement it, but she said that it won't stay for long and I need to get a new crown. At that time, the staff at the front desk said it would cost $580 with insurance. I scheduled an appointment to go back on March 18 for a consultation and to see what other teeth need work. I got different dentist, Dr Deepack (idiot). He just looked at the X-Rays they took on my previous visit and said you need two implants, which is $8000 with insurance. I said how about just crowns? Anthony's interpersonal skills are IMPECCABLE. His calm and positive demeanor is ALWAYS a pleasant experience during my visits. Beware - they do not actually check to see if your insurance will cover a procedure, they are assuming and then try to stick you with a bill that your insurance will not cover. They did just a half deep cleaning (thank goodness I did not go back to get the other half done) My insurance's (Aetna) dental experts said it was not necessary. When Monarch appealed it, Aetna requested more information which they never got and told me Monarch is under contract to them and I was not responsible for this bill but yet they keep threatening me. I would not recommand this place to anyone. from front desk to the dentist it was horrible.. the ladies up front are very rude like you are asking for free services. the dentist well thats another story i have not met her yet in the last 2 years because she is so busy. you are supposed to have a yearly check up but every time i wait about 45 minutes and there is no sign of dentist. this place was convinient to my work but at this point i will go anywhere far far away from this place. horrible customer service and if you want to change the time of your appointment it will be in 4 months! read more

Exceptional service from the front staff to the best Dr. I have ever met! Dr. Sandra Horner is more than a dentist, she's caring, gentle,and listens as if she were your best friend! She's a perfectionist and personable all in one. I was extremely scared to have my crowns done, due to trauma from when I was a child. She broke that fear in less than 1 hour that I've carried for 40 years! She and her team are phenomenal!!! I would recommend her to anyone! I used this office last year for a root canal and, in two regards, was extremely disappointed. First, they overcharged me about $300. This resulted in DOZENS of phone calls to Monarch, its corporate office, and my insurance co. Each repeatedly telling me someone else had to take care of it. I also went by the office personally to talk to the office manager who brushed me off as well. After TWO MONTHS, they gave me my money back. Very unprofessional. Second, the actual work they did - I am now discovering - may have been not up to par, either. My root canal tooth was ground down so far that my crown does not stay on properly and - according to my current dentist - this may never be fixable. I may always have to go to a dentist every few months to have it put back in. There is no way to know if Monarch's dentist made an error to cause this, it may have just been that my tooth's cavity was that bad and they had to grind it down. But I have my doubts, ESPECIALLY considering that my crown popped off a week after it was first put on and - still going to Monarch - the dentist simply put it back on and sent me on my way. As it turns out, the first time it came off I also lost a portion of my tooth in the process of biting. Monarch never mentioned it, though at the time I remember thinking it was loud crunch. My current dentist informed me of it when he was replacing my crown - again, recently. In short, Monarch Dental at Bedford is unprofessional and their dentistry work is potentially shoddy. I will never, ever visit a Monarch office again. read more
