We are so thankful for SC Vet. Over the years, SC Vet has not been our primary veterinary hospital. However, we've had two medical emergencies that our local primary vet (20+ years customer & 5 dogs) has passed us over or denied us service. Dr. Ryan saved one of our pups who got into gum/xylitol on Super Bowl Sunday. Dr. Jones and the whole team also treated our 16 year old border collie mix who had a traumatic experience and needed to be treated within 10 minutes of the incident. We have since switched over to SC Vet as our primary care vet, and continue to impressed with their care and attentiveness. Dr. Jones ordered follow up blood work for our pitty, Cashew! We have received many years of compassionate care from San Clemente vet for our cats and dogs. We recently lost our senior kitty of 18 years and want to commend Dr. Ryan for his care and expertise in helping our kitty with long-term CKD. Dr. Ryan has in-depth knowledge of kidney disease and other diseases, and gave us treatment options that afforded us additional years with our little one. When we did lose our kitty, the entire staff supported us, stayed late, and showed true compassion for us. They even sent us a signed card afterward, which meant a great deal. Dr. Ryan, Dr. A, the vet techs, and front office staff all do a wonderful job and we highly recommend them. read more

I really wanted to love this vet. I have a dog with a ton of health problems who I've done my best to take care of. He's a rescue and has so far cost me 10s of thousands of $$s. There is a specific vet here (brunette, 40s maybe?) who is so cold & heartless. She's made comments that my dog could be better off euthanized, she said he'll only live to 6, she said if I couldn't afford the thousands of $$s in vet bills I could send him to a rescue etc. I ended up switching to someone else who was wonderful, but I've decided to leave completely because this entire office has become so money hungry and greedy. I shouldn't have to get a full exam appointment every single month for the same recurring ear infection. It should only be a vet tech appointment to put some meds in his ears. I did the math and his daily medications would have ran $1325 for 3 months. I ordered them on chewy for $110. Same thing, same dose, same amount. They then proceeded to send an email that they could no longer offer a prescription for me to get his meds online. I wonder why? I understand you're a business, but this is simply wrong. I have a handful of friends who also have frenchies who come to this vet, and we are all looking elsewhere. read more

A very sad and emotional time for us, after almost 15 years of fun, friendship and love. We are blown away by the compassion and professionalism of all of the staff at the practice. True caring and consideration, and a lovely card with a personalized message from all of the staff. Wonderful and thoughtful presentation of our lovely dog's remains, including a paw print and a little bottle with his fur. This vet now no longer fulfills prescription requests with online pharmacies like Chewy.com. They make you fulfill prescriptions through them. As you can imagine this will not be the most cost effective pharmacy. I encourage you to go to a different vet. Im looking for a new one now. read more

This place is amazing! Our dog needed a complicated neuter which was concerning as we had never neutered our dogs before. They were reassuring, explaining all details with patience and compassion. They honored the quote for the procedure without a "bait and switch". Their staff is kind, attentive and understanding of our concerns. We were camping at local state park long ago and ended up there with our dog who had become sick from something he ate. That was on a holiday weekend when the staff was preparing to close and they still helped us!! Since then we have moved to San Clemente and now use them for all our pet needs. We were met with nothing but kindness and compassion during the end of life process for our very old and sweet doggo, Manny. Thank you to the staff and to Dr Ryan who explained everything to us. Thank you to Charla (and another receptionis-sorry I missed her name) who took my first call, Jill who walked us back when we arrived, and Noah who cuddled with him after his catheter was in. If I could give less than one star I would. The appointment for my dog was between 8:00 - 8:30. I brought her in at 8:00. I called the office at 12:00 to see if she was ready to be picked up! The doctor answered the phone and said she is in a CAGE doing well but had not had her teeth cleaned yet. He said she was next. By 2:00 I still heard nothing so I went to the office and they said she was not done yet. I told them to release her and I took her home. The receptionist ( who was not receptive ) said that they were taken in according to the time they arrived!! Do not take your animals here if you want them locked in a cage for hours! read more

A most recent situation of a dog attack puncturing my pups jugular vein where emergency and timely action was mandatory or my guy was not going to make it through the ordeal. SC Vet went above and beyond any expected action and literally saved my dogs life. They not only temporarily stopped the bleeding but set up an immediate appointment at the Rise which was the only hospital who could do the necessary surgery at the time. Most places were closed. It was a mutual concern that saved my pup. SCVet's immediate and explicit actions saved my guy. We have been using SCVet for a few years and I would never bring any animal anywhere else. EVERYONE at SCVet are exemplary, kind, considerate and spot on. They deserve 10+ stars. read more

If I could rate San Clemente vet lower I would. They responded to my review stating they "recommend" gold standard care for your pet. However, the actual vet walked of the room and sent the 20 year old assistant back and forth 3 times to tell me the bloodwork and shots done on my pet were "necessary" to get her spayed. Is this gold standard care? Or is the vet too shady to look you in the eye and blatantly lie to you, easier to send the assistant or do it online. Not once did this vet say it was "recommended" and I was told they could not proceed with the spaying of my dog without it! After consulting two other vets they told me over the phone that no prior bloodwork or shots were needed on my dog since she was already up to date on all shots. Just for the consult BEFORE the spaying I ended up spending $400 for ONE shot and bloodwork. Be warned this place cares more about profits than your pet! read more

I've been bringing my dogs to SC Vet for almost 10 years and am always happy but had an especially great visit yesterday bringing my 12 year old dog in to see Dr Benson and Michaela. They were so sweet to my dog who gets so nervous every time we pull in to the vet these days. The front staff was too. Welcoming and really sweet with her. Dr Benson is kind, knowledgeable and professional and explained what she thought might be wrong, going over different options. My dog will be going in to have her tooth extracted by Dr Agostini next week and I feel confident she'll be in great hands. read more

Dr Agostini and Dr Zamora are exceptional, and we truly feel like we found the right place by selecting SCVH as the veterinarian practice for our dogs. Somehow I expected my dog to get better after a visit to the veterinarian but this was not the case. So disappointed, the medication Dr. Ryan prescribed made my dog sick and when I called to explain what happened there was no response from the personnel to understand what happened only that I'd have to pay more money to try another treatment and when I requested a script and they promised to send, it took 3 phone calls to get them to actually do what they promised. We had our first interaction with this clinic several years ago when we had to put our 15 year old papillon down. SC Veterinary Hospital was open late and we didn't think the dog would make it through the night. We received fantastic care during a pretty emotional time and never forgot them. Fast forward many years later and we had an emergency with our cat on a Sunday. Dr Ryan fixed her up that afternoon and gave us medication for her skin problem that another vet said wouldn't work.
