This was my first time at Mondongo's and I will definitely be back. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was family friendly and relaxed. We were greeted by a very nice hostess and once our party arrives we were sat quickly. Our waiter recommended a wonderful drink, which was Prosecco with lychee and strawberries, very delicious! Then we ordered empanadas for the table. They were very tasty. I had the pollo a la plancha with plátano, arroz and arepa. It was very tasty. A good size portion. I could have eaten the whole plate but I controlled myself and took half home, and now I have a delicious lunch for tomorrow! For dessert we had breva con arequipe. This was not my favorite, while I do like figs, queso fresco, and arequipe; I did not like it all together. The others in my party felt the same way. However , I don't think this is the restaurants fault, I think I just don't like this dish. All in all, it was a great time with great foods and great friends. We were directed to this Resturant by the front desk of our hotel with very high praise. The empanadas were not to be missed at least that's what we were told. The empanadas were not at all what we expected instead of beef filling they were filled with potatoes Bland! I had a steak dish and my wife had a chicken dish. Both were bland mine undercooked hers dry and tasteless. Indicative was at 6:30pm only 6-7 tables were occupied. We had great expectations but we left in total disappointment. As this Resturant sits on prime property I am sure it was once great but not busy says it has passed its peak. A limited menu as well. The staff were nice that was the highlight. read more

First time trying Colombian food and it was interesting. Did try their traditional dish and it was pretty decent. Not something I usually eat or would order. Food was a bit heavy for me. Overall, the food was not salty and with added hot sauce it tasted a little bit better. The pork belly was deep fried and crispy, which was a bit hard to cut. Their traditional soup with tripe was interesting as well. Wasn't too much seasoning for me and it was just ok. Plenty of seating throughout the restaurant and there is also bar seating. This restaurant is located inside a former Olive Garden in Doral. The staff were very welcoming and fast. My friend got the steak and I got the grilled fish. Both were good. The ambiance is energetic and lively. It was quite packed on a Sunday afternoon but we were seated promptly. The service was efficient. Our server suggested an excellent drink which we all enjoyed. I like that the menu is simple. There are not too many items to choose from. It's your typical Colombian dishes without the undesired "fusion" that so many new places lean to. Stumbled upon this place while traveling to my favorite brewery and remembered eating here with my mom when I was very little. This certainly gave me the feeling that the food had to be good to stay open for so many years. It most certainly was Delicious appetizers that came out right after we ordered. (Empanadas and arepas with hogao (Colombian salsa)) The menus is great in the sense that it's simple and it takes you through some of the best Colombian staples at a more than reasonable price point. For the best authentic Colombian food cuisine in south Florida; Mondongo's is the place to go! My family and i have been going to Mondongo's since the previous location which now is being used by Boca's Grill (fun fact). Mondongo's was surprisingly was introduced to my by my mom 10 years ago and man she was not wrong because we still go Mondongo's at least twice a month as a family ritual. We're always ordering minimum 3 orders of empanadas and an order of Chicharrón. As for the entree you gotta order the Bandeja Paisa (i sub the carne molida for steak, but keep in mind that'll be an up charge; totally worth it). By the time all the food is devoured there's still some room for a little dessert; Natas! Overall Mondongo's is always a hit, they never miss. I was in the area and predominantly chose this place as it was the nearest to me via sat nav - there were loads of cars parked in the car park (always a good sign). It was Sunday at 4 o'clock and this place was busy. Having said that i was seated immediately, water was super efficient and fast and my order came out within 5 minutes! the clientele predominantly was spanish, colombian also a good sign and plenty of families dining in big tables and couples. I ordered their Tipico platter - as it seemed a good option to try a good sampling of the Colombian cuisine. The food that arrived looked exactly as the picture in their menu showed. This dish consisted of the following - a bowl of rice and beans, ground beef (this is very fine and meant to be dry - I was glad the waiter told me this as I would have found it strange otherwise), a huge strip of crispy pork belly, a fried egg, a cooked plantain, a boiled salted potato, half an avocado, a banana (I took it home with me), a little mini arepa (I personally don't like these), cilantro and limes to squeeze on the top. They also provide you with to sauces one super spicey and another one spicey but not as hot. I enjoyed it all If you want good bang for your buck, a colombian experience, a no frills family orientated restaurant with huge potions. Mondongo's is an authentic Colombian restaurant in Doral that serves some of the best Colombian food that I know. Every time I visit, it feels like I'm in Colombia (although I've never been to Colombia). Mondongo's has a spacious dining area consisting of several rooms. It's easily a great place for families and large groups. In my opinion, the prices at Mondongo's are very reasonable when considering the large portion sizes they serve for each meal. For example, if you order their specialty Mondongo Soup (or tripe soup), a full portion costs $13.50. The soup, in itself, is a large portion and it comes with many sides: avocado, plantain, banana, rice, an arepa, lemon, cilantro and 2 types of sauces. I usually take some home in a container along with the banana. I forgot to mention that this soup is freakin' delish and one of my favorite things here. I've also tried their Ajiaco soup which is primarily made with shredded chicken, potatoes, corn, and herbs. It's served with an avocado, capers, rice, and table cream on the side. It's a really nice chicken soup for when you're sick in my opinion. Pechuga de Pollo a la Plancha is basically a grilled chicken breast dish and this is also delish. It's served with avocado, tomato, plantain, potato, rice, and corn cake. The chicken has a nice texture and it's flavored very well. I love it when a restaurant can make a seemingly basic dish taste so good. I believe that most people come here for the Bandeja Paisa which I have yet to try. Looks really good. Overall the prices are fair, the food is great, and the service is friendly. I love the food here as it's consistently good and always fresh. As a Colombian native, I APPROVE! I've been coming to this restaurant for many many years and I have to say it has only gotten better over the years. I visited this past Sunday for Mother's Day and my visit was very pleasant. The restaurant was busy but didn't wait longer than 10min for a party of 3. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Mother's Day and it went so well with the rancho, original theme of the restaurant. It has a few rooms within, that make you feel like you're back in your typical Colombian restaurant back home. Our waiter was extremely polite and tentative, he kept picking up our plates and coming by to check up on us. The service was 5/5! Every dish comes with a plate of fresh bananas and sliced avocados with cilantro and sauces which is very traditional in Colombia, in which I don't see that very often in Colombian restaurants in Miami. Overall, I love my experience each and every time I come. The food is absolutely fresh and delicious. So I have mixed feelings about this place. To start off with the service can be very slow because some of the waiters/waitresses or attending multiple tables at once. My friends " fish " was not properly cooked and also didn't look visually appealing. My food arrived cold. The food overall wasn't too bad but it wasn't special. Yummmmmm mondongo or tripe immediately reminds me of my childhood as this is a meal I grew up eating and my grandmother made it often. It's warm, it's cozy, it's filling, it's delicious. It can easily be too heavy with red sauce or weird tastes but this restaurant has a very solid recipe. I got the típico mixto and luckily this restaurant has the right combination. That's the way to go - swap the ground beef for a steak and yes pay $6 because let me tell you that ground beef is dry as hell. Was the whole meal perfect? Absolutely not - but it was overall delicious! They serve the soup with a banana. I just couldn't do it! The mondongo soup came with a plate of rice beans egg chicharrón ground beef a tiny salted potato avocado. The avocado was perfect the rice egg chicarrón and potato were so good. The ground beef is VERY dry- my husband got the steak and he made the right decision with the swap. The beans were terrible - I don't know what happened there. Servers were so sweet and accommodating. I got a blackberry shake and it was delicious. We also got cappuccinos for desert and they were delish. Wait time was minimal and the place was PACKED. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Came with my child and spouse. We sat at a table for well over 20 minutes. Not ONE person came to the table. Servers would look our way and kept going about their business. We continued to patiently wait and noticed 15 minutes in another family of four walked in.
