#fatjared say...another tough review for me to write. Another place that is as close to 5 stars as you can possibly get! 2nd favorite coffee shop I've been to in Chico! GO HERE! I have said it before, and I'll say it again, if I have any complaints I can't give 5 stars! While the menu at this place was very comprehensive, I LOVE cold brews! I think it's a staple of what a coffee shop should offer, and this place didn't have one. That is my ONLY complaint. Everything else about this place is awesome. The food looked great and is cooked fresh! I literally saw them pull out fresh banana bread when I was there. The inside is decorated so well with plants all around, comfy chairs, a chess board, and very unique! They also employee people with disabilities to help them to start and get some experience. Whoever owns this place is doing everything right! Kelly was my Barista and he was awesome! I got a jumbo Heart of Darkness pour over! It had a very unique, almost spicy aftertaste to it! Phenomenal brew and well done by him! They have big things of coffee sitting out, which I'm usually not a fan of, but it's so chill in there you can tell people love to just come and fellowship, so being able to get refills at those is a great welcoming touch! 4.999 stars out of 5, but unfortunately not perfect! Got the breakfast sandwich and it was soo good definitely gonna be my new go to spot. Jalapeño cheddar bagel is so yummy and the jalapeños actually had a slight kick which i find most jalapeño bagels dont so i loved it. They also have so many sugar free syrup options for their coffee which is amazing because most places usually only give you vanilla or caramel sugar free options. I am pretty disappointed. I was looking forward to this based on reviews are you decide to try them out this morning after work and I was really bummed by my hot chocolate and my chai tea. They tasted water down or in this case " milk" down. I would never order those drinks again and then I also ordered a breakfast sandwich. So happy with Mondos. My first visit, I was getting a yogurt parfait for myself, and decided to get one for my mom. She's unbelievably picky about every.single.morsel.she.eats so I asked if they could separate the granola and the blueberries from the yogurt. It was no problem. While that is terrific, more impressive is that I returned the next morning, and asked for parfait again, and was asked "do you want it the same as yesterday, with everything separated out?" Wow. Why yes I do, thank you. And do you know why I was back? Because mom texted me the night before asking me to bring her that delicious yogurt again (and she did add the granola to it....woohoo!). Okay...I would have been back for the coffee anyway, but there was that stamp of approval. The yogurt parfait is very good. They also made a delicious vanilla latte with extra vanilla and a quad shot - so never fear on the coffee front. Perfect place for studying! I was there for 3+ hours and saw less than 10 other customers so it's a perfect hidden gem. The tables were spacious and most had access to an outlet. I had a bfast burrito and while it took a little bit even though they weren't busy (they have a sign that says you need to kill time if you order this) it was well worth the wait. I also ordered a Mayan mocha which is labeled as spicy. It had a nice chili aftertaste if you drank a lot at once, but taking sips tamed the spice. This will probably become my new study spot. I've been going here before work for the past couple of weeks and at first I wasn't so sure about it simply because I didn't know if they were gonna be fast or slow but honestly I think this might be one of my favorite coffee shops in the entire city. They are super quick. It's so fantastic because I'm often running late and still need my coffee in the morning. A Dutch Bros is right around the corner but it takes almost 15 minutes to get a coffee from them. But at Mondo's I'm in and out with about three minutes with a bagel and my coffee. The staffers are very kind and when I didn't know what I wanted one day they gave me some great suggestions. Mondo's is my favorite coffee place in town, though I frequent quite a few. They serve great coffee and food items. I particularly like the morning sandwich. So delicious, and always made perfectly. Though every now and then I get a mistake or slow service, Mondo's is worth it. I am able to overlook these very insignificant issues for the great people, atmosphere, and most importantly, the coffee and food. I come here very often during the semester to study. I love the fact that it supports the local economy and particularly a small business with a pleasant owner. I have spoken to the owner a few times and it is clear that customer satisfaction and care are his number one priority. He is willing to go above and beyond. One specific instance was when I told him how I was so disappointed that I could not study at Mondo's later at night, since they close fairly early. The owner told me then that he would consider staying open later during Chico State finals week to accommodate this need. I did not actually expect him to follow through, since it was mentioned pretty casually. But he exceeded my expectations by actually extending his hours. This is just one example of the lengths this business will go to to ensure customer satisfaction. Also, I absolutely love the fact that Mondo's is a work training program, which hires people who may struggle to find employment elsewhere (I'll leave it at that). It warms my heart (I know that sounds corny but oh well) to know that people/business like this still exist in this world of money-hungry entrepreneurs. The atmosphere is positive, friendly, and cozy. Now that I have become a "regular," I also love the recognition and welcome I experience whenever I come in. Mondo's is more than a coffee shop. It is a community. I look forward to my interactions with some of the employees, the owner, and the regular customers (especially the group of older men who come early in the morning ;) ). I really cannot say enough positive things about Mondo's. Anyone who has had an unpleasant experience the first time should definitely give it another chance. I feel strongly about that. But if not, it is those customers who are sorely missing out. UPDATE - the tables have been fixed and there are some new ones. The AC at the new location means this place is now a consistently cool place to hang out and study. Been going here since I was a freshman and kept forgetting to review it. Now, as a senior, I finally am reviewing it. I've seen employees come and go, and I grew a bit tired trying to reestablish my "Heart of Darkness" joke when ordering the drink of the same name but it's still one of my Sunday go-to spots on times when I have nothing else to do but relax at a coffee shop with some acquaintances and chat for hours. The service have consistently been great, and I quite like their decor. Doesn't come off as pretentious but it adds a feel to it I quite can't describe. The breakfast sandwiches (available on either bagels or croissants) are unique, tasty, filling & cooked fresh to order.
