Just moved to town and tried this place today and I was so happy I did. First of all the vibes-great, service-excellent. Not sure if was the coffee or if the girl taking orders is always that bubbly but I genuinely enjoyed her enthusiasm. This was my first and, unfortunately, last visit to Stoble Coffee Shop in Chico. I was the only customer standing in line, and there were four employees behind the counter. I stood there for approximately 5-7 minutes without being acknowledged, greeted, or even told that someone would be with me shortly. Finally, I said, "Excuse me, is this still the line to order?" The employee, whose name I believe was Emil (or Amil), very coldly responded, "Yeah, but as you can see, I'm busy," while he was working with one of the coffee machines. I told him that he could have simply said, "Good morning," or acknowledged me. Instead, he shrugged his shoulders and showed no concern whatsoever about how I had been treated. As a woman of color in an environment where everyone else appeared to be white, I found the experience extremely uncomfortable and felt unwelcome. I cannot speak to his intentions, but the way I was treated made me question whether I was being treated differently because of my race. It would have taken two seconds to say, "Good morning, we'll be right with you." Instead, I was ignored for several minutes and then spoken to in a dismissive and unapologetic manner. Customer service and basic courtesy should apply to everyone. Unfortunately, this was a very unpleasant first experience, and I will not be returning. read more

Excuse my language, but HOLY SHIT THAT AVOCADO TOAST!!!! The base is the most incredible crusty sourdough bread with a beautiful soft and airy inner texture, thick crunchy crust, and a wonderful depth of flavor. The avocado was perfectly ripe, topped with luxurious olive oil, herbs, the perfect amount of thin lemon peel strands, and a flakey salt that gives you a gentle salty pop every now and then. Each bite is a little different in the best way. I wish I could describe what that oil does when you notice it. So, I love this place. I don't come to work or study, so I can't speak on that- but we come to grab coffees and sit for a spell (as they used to say), then use the restroom and leave. We've always experienced really friendly service and I love all the different sitting areas they provide. We especially love that rooftop area! What cool views! It's like a Hallmark movie up there lol. The restrooms are clean enough and a great alternative to the port a potties offered at the ice skating rink access the street lol. The coffee is strong and I love their lattes. My kids enjoy their treats and kid drinks, too. Their dad likes it bc it keeps me fr complaining about going to that ice skating rink and that restroom situation. I don't live in Chico, but I'm here often for errands and I like Chico, so I come for random stuff. I also have to do events at the college near enough to this coffee shop, so I make sure to stop in to grab coffee before my work events. I think they should stay open later hours though. Parking is usually ok, but depends on the day and time. It's only street parking. I'm fr the city and my parallel parking skills are ok lol but if you can't, you can always back into the weird spots on the park across the street. I will say- there was a young homeless guy laying down on a couch in that glass middle room thing, kind of chilling, but I think for safety reasons, they should be more on top of that bc he was too close to the woman's bathroom for my comfort. Plus it wasn't sanitary. I know that's not PC, but it ls a factual situation that if it were to become a more common occurrence, would stop me from returning. Rating based solely on my breakfast sandwich experience. The gluten free life is sometimes difficult, but I'm gonna make a bold statement here and this may have just been everything coming together on this visit but this was the best GF breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Not only was it toasted to perfection, all the flavors blended so well together, eggs cheese and avocado and they did NOT skimp on the avocado, which was perfectly ripe with no bad spots, which contributed to the perfection which most likely doesn't happen year round. I did not go inside as I had one of my pups with me, but outside looks cute and had a couple tables, not super shaded. Hubs also gave 5 stars to his sourdough breakfast sandwich, see Chris G review. My drink was lemonade which was good enough. We do not live in Chico but have close friends who do, I will 1000 percent be coming back here next time we are in town. read more

Stoble is a coffee shop. Not one level, not two level but three level. This charming spot is located in a small charming town in Chico. If you want a homey experience, bird in hand is the perfect spot for coffee either in cold or summer days. I saw they have office area as well. They sell stoble brand coffee, it's smooth and rich with flavors. If you want fresh air, then head to the third floor either using the floating staircase or elevator. You can't find another place like this. All I'll say, plenty of space to study, relax, meet friends or work there. Try out their pastries and food. Can't wait to go back!!! Food is very good-ricotta toast was creamy and a sweet jam on toasted blonde sourdough. Liked the porridge and the granola and yogurt. Order was taken by a lovely woman that made sure to read our order back to ensure it was correct. Medium roast drip was good (but dark roast is my favorite). I'll get straight to the point and say, I don't care for Stoble but let me elaborate as to why. First things first the food is great, (I've had it multiple times), the beverages I can't speak to. I ordered a Garden Veggie Sando, and an iced tea that I paid .75 extra for lemonade (that the barista that didn't care if I lived or died, forgot to put in there and then added it as an after thought). Aesthetically, it's very cute, a vibe but incredibly inconvenient that there are no free outlets (that you don't have to pay extra for?). The icing on the cake was the aforementioned barista that looked straight out of the 17th century. She came off dry and rude. No thanks! If I'm going anywhere and spending $22 on an iced tea and a sandwich, I'm going to DayCamp BUT as always, give it a whirl. read more

The coffee shop has 3 stories and one is a nice outdoor location. Even though it was packed we were able to find seats no problem in the outdoor area. It was wonderful and relaxing. I think this is my favorite coffee shop in Chico. Not only are you greeted with a smile from Jordan when you walk in, you can smell the amazing coffee roasting on site. The acai bowl is so good and the tea is lovely! My daughter always asks for our mother/ daughter dates to be there. The workspace is huge and a great place if you need a quiet space for a meeting or to work. I highly recommend! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops to visit in Chico, mostly because it's so aesthetic -- and the fact that it has four floors is such a cool touch. On a sunny day, the fourth floor is especially beautiful and relaxing. That being said, the customer service is always a little off. For example, during my last visit, my family and I were standing off to the side because we weren't ready to order yet. One of the baristas motioned for us to come forward, so we assumed she understood we weren't ready -- but once we stepped up, it felt like she was rushing us. She seemed impatient, especially when a small line started forming (there were maybe two people behind us), and she even stood on her tiptoes to glance over us at the line, which made us feel more pressured. It just created an uncomfortable vibe. As for the food, we spent around $60 for three people, which wasn't too bad. The sandwich I had was pretty good, but the salad was literally just three pieces of lettuce -- not impressive at all. I still love coming here for the space and atmosphere, but I do wish the service felt a bit more welcoming and the food portions matched the price a little better. read more

Stobal Coffee was the perfect way to end our trip to Chico--but honestly, we're kicking ourselves for not finding it sooner! My girlfriend and I stopped by on our last day, and everything about the experience blew us away. We ordered the avocado toast, ricotta toast with jam, and a couple of lattes--and wow. The flavors were so fresh, balanced, and thoughtfully put together. The avocado toast had the perfect seasoning and crunch, and the ricotta toast? Creamy, subtly sweet, and paired with a jam that tasted like it came straight from a local orchard. And the lattes were beautifully made with rich, smooth espresso and perfectly steamed milk--just how we like it. Beyond the food and drinks, the ambiance was super cozy and inviting. You can tell a lot of intention went into the design and vibe of the space. It just felt good to be there. The staff were also top-notch--friendly, warm, and really knowledgeable about their craft. Next time we're in Chico, Stobal Coffee will be our first stop instead of our last. Highly recommend! read more

The employees were great and very helpful but the yogurt and chai were very disappointing. The chai tasted like english tea with cinnamon and cardamom sprinkled in and diluted with water and milk. It isn't specified on the menu but the yogurt is a goat greek yogurt and you can definitely taste it. None of my friends enjoyed it and the yogurt leans a more savory than sweet (even with extra honey). The toppings on the yogurt were very nice though. The overall vibe of the place is nice and their sandwiches looked nice but they're yogurt and chai are an easy miss for me. read more

This is a great coffee house in downtown Chico which serves a nice range of foods, including pastries as well as larger meals, hot sandwiches, and more. It also includes a workspace area and a shared work-area cooperative, but we are not part of that and did not go there. We went there for breakfast twice on our September visit to Chico and loved it. It takes up several floors in a remodeled old building downtown. It has a nice decor and seating inside on the ground floor and mezzanine, plus a very nice, partly covered and partly shaded rooftop eating area. Coffee and coffee drinks overall are great. Food includes excellent breakfast sandwiches with egg, bacon jam, cheese, and umami sauce on buttered fried sourdough, excellent but for the fact that it needs a touch of salt (5 stars), breakfast bowl with legumes, eggs, veg, salsa, and quinoa (5 stars - but one time it was not quite as good), and a 5 grain porridge with almond butter, dates, and more (also 5 overall, but the dates would have been better chopped up instead of whole). Really cute place and ideally would be a nice place to have a cup of coffee and work, however they have most of their outlets locked so the public cant access them. Huh? Is this not a coffee shop? Do you not have workspace in your name? They have open ones in the basement and one outlet open on the second floor but they are always crowded and taken. Pretty ridiculous and the only reason i can think of is they want a cheaper energy bill. But imo if youre opening a coffee shop you should expect people to need outlets and consider the cost of energy as an expected business expense. ‍ read more

Love love love stoble. My friend and I have a weekly Stoble work date. But it's not without its flaws. A MUST KNOW: come with your devices CHARGED. Maybe even bring a spare power bank. Their power outlets are LOCKED down. No literally. Like on the rooftop, they're all locked, and inside they have the flat plates over them. There are a scattered few (and I mean FEW) if you're desperate. My guess is this accomplishes a couple things: one, more people will want to use the Stoble Workplace membership. Two, it keeps people from staying as long. Like I know it's my time to go when my laptop is dead. Impressions after coming here for a couple years: COFFEE: Very good coffee, never had a coffee drink I didn't like. They roast their own beans and sell them too. They make their own syrups - my consistent favorite is vanilla. (I didn't care for the maple pecan seasonal one from October 2024) FOOD: NOT good food, never had a food item that didn't have *something* wrong with it except for the baked goods from a local bakery. I honestly wish I could provide some non-expert help to revise the menu. I see what they're trying do with the somewhat fancy but easy dishes with savory-sweet combos, but they're just not executing it. * The ham and cheese croissant is my favorite (no oddly or overly sweet additions) * Second fave is the açaí bowl (but there's always some slightly overpowering spice which, I actually don't mind it as much as some dishes). At one point they were putting thyme on it which, again, I could see what they were trying to go for but it was overpowering and didn't mesh well). * I've tried the cheddar bacon scone (covered in some sweet syrup, not terrible but overly sweet for my taste) * breakfast sandwich - no for me. Bacon jam or the umami sauce maybe adds something sweet for no reason. The egg? Always overcooked. * I think it was the Stoble toast? Had a straight up just, whole canned tomato on the plate. I thought it was pretty common knowledge to any common cook that you have to cook out the canned flavor. AMBIANCE AND SEATING: Wonderful ambience with lots of different seating options - room with a couch and two padded chairs, bar seating with seats with backs and without backs, large group tables, rooftop seating with low tables, high tables, a couch area with coffee table, and a fireplace EVENTS: Monthly community events like trivia, art, story times, etc., some for free and some for a cost SERVICE: I've always had fine to great service ordering and have had great conversations at times. There are utensil/napkin/water/bussing stations in every floor and they're good about keeping them clean. You may need to wipe off a table - it's self bussing so sometimes you'll get a table right after someone has left. read more

This is a pretty nice coffee shop in the area, there are multiple levels, so you can find your perfect spot. They serve food, so you don't have to go out and get food when you get hungry. My coffee, which is a cold brew, was perfect. I also got the sandwich soup combo. The sandwich was decent small portion, of course, but the soup was not that great. I actually didn't even have more than a few bites. Service was great here, you just walk up order and then they'll give you a buzzer to come back and pick up your food and drinks. You must your own tables. I was looking for an outlet and the area I was looking at did not have any outlets, unfortunately. COME FOR THE AMAZING COFFEE & GREAT FOOD, STAY FOR THE ViBES. Stoble has been on my list to try for quite some time as I'm a Northern California native but now live on the East Coast. That all changed when I visited home a few weeks back and was able to try them out for the first time. I was only in Chico for 4 days and somehow managed to get there twice in that timeframe! Let's start with the location - conveniently located downtown and has three stories of seating and study/work space! Not only that but it is BEAUTIFUL inside. Kiddos to the interior designer who styled this space! Next, coffee and food - This is a "order at the counter, open seating" kind-of-place. Order one of their amazing coffees, pastries, breakfast or lunch options, grab you number, and find your seat for the next couple hours. Coffee is simple, strong, and high quality. Not only that but they have a lot of great milk options to choose from including macadamia nut. I was with a group of ladies who all ordered everything from toasts to breakfast sandwich to lunch and everyone agreed the food was super delicious fresh. Make sure to check out the rooftop space even if you're in a hurry for the awesome views of downtown Chico! And Definitely add Stoble to your list of places to try soon! read more

I love the vibe in this coffee shop and I like the coffee. I like that I can come in this place order and hang out. However, customer service is seriously lacking. I don't hear any employees say "welcome" or "how's it going?" When I order. I came in the other day to do some work. I waited in line, mind you I was the only one. When I came in not a single employee said hello or welcome. As I came in I saw an employee look at me then hop off the register and pour coffee in a canister, back turned to me. So I stood there awkwardly waiting. All the employees looked but not a word was spoken to me. I was expecting someone to say @I'll be with you in one moment." I heard Nothing for roughly 7 minutes. Stopped here to fuel-up for a drive to Sacremento and I am sure glad I did. The parking is super convenient and as soon as you walk inside, you're greeted by a beautiful three-story shop with wood tones, brick walls, healthy plants, fresh coffee aroma, and friendly staff. I wanted something sweet and something savory to start my morning and both pastries, the ham and cheese croissant and fruit boat (a blueberry danish), were golden, flakey, and delicious. I got my honey lavender latté iced (not blended, as it comes on the menu) and it was UH-MAZING. Perfect to fuel me up for my drive and flight out of Cali. I highly recommend this place! They even have a separated workspace for those who choose to work remotely from here; it's quiet and separate from the rest of the shop - so convenient! read more
