Came in to grab a coffee on my way home from a hike. 2 people in line in front of me. Gal who took my order was friendly, repeated it back to me, and sent it off to the barista. I waited 18 minutes and several people came and went after me picking up their orders. I approached the counter and inquired about my order. The barista pointed to a large cup off to the side that was clearly not what I ordered. I politely said "that's not what I ordered" and continued to inform the barista of what my order had been. She just stood there and stared back at me clueless about what to do. The gal who initially took order came over and argued with me about what I ordered! I said "that's not what I ordered, you repeated it back to me when I ordered it...". Her response "well that's what I charged you for". I was dumbfounded, instead of just making me what I wanted they both argued with me and then admitted to charging me more for a beverage that I never wanted! I decided to turn and walk away. Stopped by this place during a quick trip to Chico and really liked the vibe..lots of people working or studying while enjoying their coffee. It's dog-friendly too, so you'll see all kinds of pups, and every dog we met was friendly and well-behaved. The service was fast, attentive, and easygoing. Really really nice and chill coffee place. They have downstairs and upstairs seating with some couches as well. Really cool. I got avocado toast with egg. It was really yummy but nothin special to write about. I also got a black coffee dark roast which was pleasant as well. Two dog owners came through, so strikes me as a fairly dog friendly place. Looks like it'd be a great place to study in a college town. Service was alright. Unfortunately, the customer service consistently feels like I walked in and personally ruined someone's day just by existing. I've visited about once or twice a month for the past six months, hoping maybe I'd catch them on a "good day," but the vibe remains... chilly. Asking a question feels less like normal customer interaction and more like an unexpected pop quiz no one studied for. If you know exactly what you want and don't require human warmth, you'll be fine. While looking over the menu for something to eat, the cashier was visibly annoyed that I asked her about the 'chili bacon'. While taking our order I could barely hear her meek voice over the noisy machines tight next to us. After asking her to repeat herself a couple times, she still didn't speak up. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, breakfast tacos, a kid's cocoa(no whip because that's 75¢ extra) and an iced caramel latte. The drinks came out first, checking my kid's cocoa it definitely wasn't kid temp! Way too hot to serve to a child, and they didn't give a lid. My latte didn't taste flavored or sweetened at all, and considering they charge an extra dollar just for flavor, I expected to actually taste it. As soon as I set down our drinks upstairs they called for our food. They should've just served them at the same time IMO. The tacos were very sad looking and lacked flavor and substance. The breakfast sandwich was excellent according to my son. Neither were worth $10 each though. All in all, if I'm going to spend $30+ on breakfast for two, I'd prefer to not leave still hungry. I tried a decaf americano and a breakfast burrito and I loved both. The breakfast burrito was the perfect size and had a great salsa. So disappointed. Day Camp used to be my favorite place but after yesterday I'm not supporting them. Long line in the morning for the on-the-way-to-work crowd. Gal in front of me waits her turn, probably 15-20 min, and orders a Cortado to-go. The staff person at the register says they don't do cortados to-go??? Gal says, "Oh if you don't have 4oz cups that's totally fine, a larger cup partway full is ok, I have to run to a meeting." And the staff person refuses. It was so rude and weird. They said something like "we stand by our decision to not sell this to you 'to-go'". It just felt so haughty and weird and just bizarre especially considering how long people were waiting to order. Revisited a few times since my first time trying this place. The worker let me know the maple almond scones were pretty good and it was definitely one of the better scones I've ever had. Definitely would get again, but they've been out the last few times I've been back. Also tried their lox toast and while I felt it was on the smaller side, it was delicious! I got a latte and my boyfriend got a regular drip coffee. My latte tasted like milk, I'm not sure if there was any coffee in it.
