I wasn't sure what I wanted to order at first, but I ended up ordering a large pour over. I asked the barista for her recommendation on blends, and the flavor of my coffee was exactly how she described! The value for the amount of coffee was incredible. Their specialty coffee drinks seems comparable in price to other shops, but I don't know if you can beat the price for drip coffee or pour over in any other coffee shop in town. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and I know I will be returning for a good, morning reading session very soon. read more

Coffee was good. Just a normal iced coffee, nothing special but still good. I got a breakfast burrito that was really good and huge. It took about 10 minutes to make but they do have a sign saying it takes a little bit to make it. Really clever idea. The sign said if in a rush get this, got a few minutes to spare get something else, and if you have time to kill get the burrito. I liked the free stickers the have and the staff was pretty nice. I ordered a coffee from the brew bar and the freshly brewed flavor was fantastic. Unfortunately, the service was nowhere near the quality of the coffee. There were hardly any customers and I stood around 5 minutes while they were filling the orders for the two other people there ahead of me. By far, my favorite coffee shop in town! I've been going to this coffee shop since I first moved to Chico for college. I was immediately hooked on their delicious drinks (rich pour-over coffee and perfectly crafted espresso drinks), breakfast sandwiches, and phenomenal service. Five years later and I've never had a disappointing visit. Mondo's is truly everything a coffee shop should be. It's clean with beautiful decor and plenty of seating. It has the perfect atmosphere to meet up with a friend for coffee or to hunker down and get in a power-study sesh. The staff is always friendly and although I've never had any issues with my own food or drinks, I've seen them quickly and pleasantly fix any sort of less-than-amazing experience with a customer. The owner is friendly and receptive to his customers' needs. I've seen Mondo's transform over the years and every update added really improves the customer experience. As if the amazing quality of this place wasn't enough, it also serves as a work-training program that allows individuals with disabilities gain important life skills to facilitate independent living and autonomy. They all do a great job and have made me countless delicious morning sandwiches over the years. I really can't say enough about this place, unparalleled quality in every aspect. Come give it a try. I recommend the El Chicano (a perfectly smooth blend of white and mexican chocolate and espresso) or any of the 6 varieties of hot and fresh pour-over coffees (super rich and flavorful). read more

This little gem serves up a great cup of coffee. They have a "brew bar" meaning they brew each cup of drip at a time which gives a wonderfully rich flavor and smooth finish to their beverages. On top of the great coffee they have a nice ambiance and were not overcrowded and noisy. I only had the pleasure of visiting this place twice while staying with my brother at school, but when I come back I know where I'll be heading for my morning buzz. read more

I recently started going to Mondos more, because I just moved around the corner. I like the unique coffee blends they have, but usually go for the chiapas. This cafe largely draws in a local old timer crowd in the early hours when I visit. Staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is mellow but stylish. I just got my usual espresso shots......AND the rare but amazing lemon bread with shredded coconut that is baked on top to a golden brown...staff is always off the hook.....Having sold coffee for a small speciality roaster I think I know a couple of things about coffee.. they use Grounds for Change who roasts nice products and as the name says they are doing the right things! Fair-trade coffee (so unlike starbucks, the people who grow and pick the coffee actually make a living. I don't drink coffee, but their tea and their chai's are really good. The service is pleasant and I've never had someone mean at the counter. Their food is good too. My husband likes their coffee and whenever we can visit Chico we go there. So I'm a little disappointed, because I really like Mondo's. They have great coffee, great food, great staff, great everything. My only problem is that the mopping solution they have smells so strong that I can't stay once they bring it out. I even usually sit across the room from where they start, but every time I try to stay I just end up distracted by how strongly it smells. It doesn't smell BAD really, just... strong. Like they're mopping with straight, undiluted cleaner. Anyway, it's strong enough to keep me away. read more
