Absolutely despicable owner and employees. Hire a professional, respectful company (there are too many options out there for this type of behavior to exist in a business). Rather than respectfully ask if they could use our private road frontage (not sure why they would not park the trucks and their equipment in front of their clients home, brainless.), they walked up rudely to tell us to move our vehicle and trailer from our property. After, moving as a courtesy, I approached the "owner" to ask that they leave us some area (we were in a time crunch to unload our trailer and have our landscaping team pick up said trailer) - he was panicky, rude and didn't have time to understand our situation. I think that I would have written a very different review two weeks ago than I would want to write now. I am also a fair person and I don't want to write an initial review that might hurt a nice young couple that is, quite frankly, up against "big business". With their current training, their actual performance, I am satisfied. Bobby and Renee are an interesting and dynamic young couple. They are the "american dream". The pricing was great, the actual "work day" was well executed and they did a fine job. The complaint and gap is in their follow-through. They started the job (trees and fence removal with post/concrete removal; as quoted) on or about 10 SEP. They came and picked up the final debris (after MY removal of the fence-posts) on 28 SEP. So, maybe it is a case of getting what you paid for but that does not benefit me or Monkey. With the right training, right support and discipline in scheduling, we would use them again. The job is done, our house is safe and the property looks better and is better. We are happy... finally. Here is where I would like to depart from the actual review of Monkey's Tree Service and instead wax poetic about American Small Business and the "dream deferred". When we lived in Baltimore we got two different "home improvement" jobs done. Both of those events were single day, a stretch of a few hours actually, done well, done crisply and with no discussion. Both of those jobs were done by larger companies that had hired (illegal or not, I don't know, didn't check) Spanish speaking labor. One of the refrains we heard from our friends at Monkey was "our workers....fill in the blank". They had challenges maintaining a work force to complete the jobs that Bobby hustled to get for the company. They are trying to grow, trying to be successful but are held back by a few things; a lack of strategic planning, a lack of basic HR skills, a lack of clear roles for the two leads of the company. If I had the time and money I would like to give them an injection of capitol and some executive coaching which would allow them to turn that business around and really succeed. What, you say there is a Small Business Administration to do that sort of thing...not for 2 people companies with one truck! If you care about these kind of things more than NFL protests...pay attention to what your prospective leaders are promising in terms of the "american dream" and making "america great"...and vote accordingly. read more

I needed torn down trees to be removed from my front and back yard. Contacted Monkey's Tree Service and received a quote within 2 days. However, it took at least 2 weeks to get them to come back out and start working on my yard. I understand that the weather kept delaying the work but my issue with this is that there was never a set appointment in the books and it was essentially up in the air. Additionally, I am the one that had to keep contacting them and reminding them that I still wanted their service. When I was finally able to get a confirmation on their arrival, I was asked if it was ok that they only work on my front yard and do the backyard another day. I was reluctant because of how long it took them to come out but my hands were practically tied and I really wanted to get some of this work started. My front yard was already a huge eye sore. I was reassured multiple times that they would call me in a few days to set up an appointment for my backyard. Two men arrived at my house while I was at work and they worked all the way into the late evening. I was grateful for their hard work and tipped them generously. About 30 min after they left, the business owner (who promised she would call me back about my front yard) called and asked if the men had left yet. I told her they had left about 30 minutes prior and she stayed silent as if she was scared they ran off with the cash payment I had given them. It was very awkward. A week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, etc passed and Monkey's Tree Service never called me back to discuss my backyard like they promised. I was tired of having to constantly reach out to them that I decided to never call them back. Highly disappointed in their business practices. read more

If only it were possible to leave Zero stars! Hired Monkey's to remove (and haul away) some small scrub trees in our back yard. Bobby Winters surveyed the project and quoted us $200. Crew arrived in the morning for a job that would've taken professionals under an hour to complete. But, due to numerous equipment failures, and subsequent "repair trips," they were still there at 3pm. My wife needed to get our kids at school, and since the crew was "almost finished," she put the $ in the mailbox in case she wasn't back in time. 20 minutes later, she returned to find the job as unfinished as when she left. Complete Mess of logs and long branches remained but "Crew" & cash gone! I could go on about how they promised to be back to finish but never did, claimed we still owed $100 per a bogus "quote on paper" that he claimed to have but has yet to produce, never returned phone messages, treated my wife and myself with complete disrespect, etc...but you get the picture. -10! read more

They removed 3 cedar trees (70') each with ease, and when they were done, it was like they weren't even here. **warning** use this company with caution** This company took down a tree at the beginning of the summer. There was damage to the sidewalk and street in front of my house but they promised it would be fixed by the end of the week, so I paid them in good faith. That was months ago and now they will not return and calls/texts/messages I leave them. I will now have to pay for the damage they caused to my property. This is after they kept pushing the date of the tree takedown back for approximately a month. Do not use this company unless you want to pay for any damage they cause to your property. read more

Extremely satisfied with Monkey Tree Service. They gave me a most reasonable bid on a Thursday with the intention of starting the job on Monday. Due to weather on Monday, the start was deferred until Tuesday. They worked hard and diligently over a few days, and completely cleaned up all the debris.
