Where you pick up your ice cream

AMAZING vegan ice cream (super creamy / not grainy). This place is a small hole in the wall place in the middle of downtown with only some outdoor seating but the ice cream is SO good with lots of different options. It was very busy but the staff were very kind and moved quickly. I will definitely be going back here!

After a disappointing birthday dinner, this was on my list of ice cream shops to try! I am so happy we did! Monkeywrench was the best save of the night. My Besties & I got a double in a waffle cone trying out the different flavors. It's a walk up window at the Gallivan Center near the bottom of the steps from the ice skating rink. Cute little shop. You can get your order & walk around or sit down at the benches nearby. It wasn't busy so the cashier got our orders to us quickly. It's anti-dairy all made with fresh ingredients. We ordered - Strawberry Shortcake, Banana Stand, Blue Moon, Budderfinger, & Butter Pecan. We will definitely be back again with our families!

This ice cream shop is dairy free and we ordered 5 flavors to try out. Nothing was amazing and two flavors were hard to finish. They also don't offer samples so it's hard to know what you will get from the unique combinations.

I don't typically eat vegan ice cream because I don't like the texture, but I was pleasantly surprised with how creamy this was. I ordered the cookies and cream and some variant of chocolate and absolutely loved both flavors. I can definitely taste the coconut cream base but the flavors worked very well together. They don't have anywhere to sit and you order at a counter outside so be prepared to take this away to eat.

Ice cream was delicious! Love all the different varieties of flavors they offer. Service was friendly + quick & efficient. They offer some seating on the sidewalk or else it's a good thing to eat while you walk around.

I was pretty bummed that they don't let you taste-test any flavors...I got the banana one and it tasted like a Kind bar...the bumpy pumpkin was pretty good but very rich. I wouldn't have gotten those flavors if I had the chance to try them before purchasing them...The cashier lady was nice. There is no inside seating so we just sat at some of the tables outside front. Probably won't be coming back here.

So many fun flavors and so good. All vegan but I'd bring an omnivore here. Friendly service through an ordering window with several tables outside. I'm really happy I got to try this in SLC! The lavender blueberry honeycomb is so surprising and yummy.

Wonderful restaurant. I'm dairy free, and having it be an "anti-dairy establishment" is very comforting. My boyfriend is allergic to cashews, and everything labeled was wonderful. Worker was very kind, and was quick to make our milkshakes. I've been looking for vegan shakes for months since Sweet Hazel stopped making theirs, and these ones definitely don't disappoint! My evaluation of the ambience might be off, but since we came by on the day of the biggest No Kings Protest, it was definitely hard to access. Overall, quick, kind, and delicious. 10/10 recommend-- (everything is coconut based so if you're allergic, probably should avoid)

I was in town for a conference and staying at the hotel nearby. One of my colleagues suggested we check it out and I'm so glad we did. We ended up going back again before we left. Everything is dairy free but you'd honestly new know it, there were several gluten free and cashew free options. Everything I tried was delicious. The cashier was so sweet and made the best suggestions when I wasn't sure what to pick. I highly recommend it to everyone in the area and I may just have to fly back to SLC just to have more tea & biscuits. It was such a unique but super delicious flavor.

Service impeccable ice cream even better. As someone who can't have dairy in a family of ice cream lovers this is our go to place because my dairy lovers love this place too. It is so nice to have a place we can enjoy dessert together!

I discovered this anti-dairy ice cream establishment while out to dinner. Their name, Monkey wrench and sign for anti-dairy treats piqued my interest. I stopped on my way home for a pint to-go. I wasn't sure what to expect. Sometimes you just don't know with lavendar flavors or even non-dairy products. (So anyway, I got a lavendar pint, and it was really good!) It had a nice flavor, and their was a nice coconut flavor, I assume from coconut milk? It was tasty, and they had lots of other flavors I'd go back to try, like peanut butter brownie and birthday cake. The employees were pleasant as well.

This was recommended to me by a staff member at Franklin and I'm very glad he did! This is definitely some of the best ice cream I've ever tried and it's all vegan. As someone who can't have more than a few bites of ice cream because of the dairy, this place is too perfect! The staff was really nice and happy to answer all questions I had about the ice cream and the place itself. My guy and I split the Lemon Poppyseed Poundcake since it was the most unique flavor we saw and it was soo good, we wish we had gotten separate scoops. The flavor was very well-balanced and light. It was too perfect! I can only imagine how great the other flavors are. Highly recommend and will definitely stop by here again whenever I come back to the area.

FYI: This is an ice cream stand, not an ice cream shop... an ALL VEGAN ice cream stand at that! I got the two scoops of Cookies and Cream because I my much of a fan of the other flavors. The Lemon Shortbread Poppyseed piqued my interest, but I thought it would be too sweet. I got a chance to try the Lemon and instantly regretted my decision. Don't get me wrong, the CC was delicious, but the Lemon spoke to me. It wasn't too sweet and the shortbread was the perfect combination.

Is there somewhere I can find what base they use? Like coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk, oat milk, etc? I'm looking for somewhere that has an almond milk base specifically?

Do you have any sugar free options?

    No sugar free options.

Are there dairy-free and gluten-free options?

Everything is vegan and the gluten-free flavors are labeled.

Where can nutritional information be found? Specifically ingredients and sugar content?

Seriously? This is a mom-and-pop restaurant, not a chain. You're not going to find nutritional information at a small place like this.

Do you guys sell gift cards? Wanting to get one for my family members who are vegetarian

Yes they do! I'd call before to make sure they have them in stock still before Heading over but yes! #bestgiftever

What here would be gluten free?

I believe they only have two options that are GF. One is their Tostada but I don't remember the other. Sorry.

Their fruit-shaped creations are little works of art--so realistic it almost feels wrong to eat them... almost. Each pastry is fresh, light, and packed with flavor. The pistachio was incredibly tasty, though definitely on the richer side, so it's one you might want to savor slowly. The raspberry had a beautifully balanced sweetness with a vibrant, delicious filling. The lemon was very zingy--almost intensely so--but still delightful if you enjoy bold citrus flavors (just maybe not an entire one in a single sitting). The standout, though, was the mango. Easily the winner. It had such a bright, powerful flavor, and the fresh mango inside made every bite feel special. Everything about it--from taste to presentation--was just beautiful. The only slight letdown was the macarons. While still good, they didn't quite match the intensity and uniqueness of the pastries and felt a bit underwhelming in comparison. Overall, this place is a must-visit if you appreciate creative, high-quality desserts. It's clear a lot of skill and care goes into every piece. I loved the building that the pastry shop was in, as it had a "lunch room" feel to it. There are a few restaurants inside so there are options and there's plenty of seating.

She then asked if I'd like cream with it, I had asked if she suggested it and she responds with "well everyone gets it with creamer". Ok so I agreed to try it out. Why not cause everyone gets it with creamer right? I waited about 10 mins, which isn't bad considering the amount of people. She called my name and had 3 other drinks with her. $7. 2 dark chocolate truffles. Bourbon & Marzipan $5.50. 1…read moresingle scoop Spumoni It took me a minute to get my bearings in this shop. There's a craft counter, a chocolate counter, and an ice cream counter, and no clear lines or what not. At first glance, it's not immediately obvious where to focus your attention, so I went with the ice cream for here and took the chocolates walking. The owner was out on the floor chatting with customers, which gave the place a welcoming and local feel. It was nice. A few times I hovered close to him and tried to find an opening to ask him some questions about the products, but he was busy with other guests. As for the history of the business, there are enough newspaper clippings and articles on the walls to keep anyone occupied while waiting. Most of the staff appeared to be high school- or younger college-aged employees handling the day-to-day operations. The ice cream isn't made in-house (it's Farr's brand), so this review is more about the experience than the product itself. The serving size was fair, and I opted for the spumoni. Yes, really, spumoni. Three other people in our group between their twenties and forties had never even heard of the flavor before. The ice cream is scooped from a mixed single barrel rather than barrel with separated sections, so the chocolate, pistachio, and cherry had blended together. It was kind of like putting different sodas into the same cup. While I enjoy ice cream and these flavors, others might not think the same. The standout items for me were the chocolates. The bourbon chocolate came with a huge flavor punch. It was rich, bold, and intense enough that I needed a break and a glass of water afterward. It's not for the faint of heart and you need to be serious about chocolates to have an appreciation for this one. The marzipan, on the other hand, was a perfect follow-up. Not to sweet, balanced, and a very nice almond flavor. It was delicious and served as a nice palate refresher after the bourbon's performance. Between the chocolates and the owner's visible presence this was an enjoyable stop. The chocolates were easily the stars of the visit and worth it if you're in the area.
