Called in advance before purchasing a Groupon that Monro was offering, to make sure it would be valid for my vehicle's oil type. Instead of calls being answered by the local station, my call was handled by an overseas call center which gave me the wrong answer to my question. When I attempted to use the voucher at this Danbury location, I was told this level of voucher was not valid for my vehicle. Ordered tires and when my wife went to the scheduled appointment they said the tires weren't in stock and tried to sell us a more expensive set of tires. Why would they confirm the appointment if they didn't have the tires? Or, why didn't someone call us before we wasted our time driving there. Shady business practices so I'll be avoiding this location in the future. read more

I went in for 2 tires and an oil change. I walked out with a bill double than what I expected. They performed a number of services I did not authorize including an alignment, a sleazy upsell fuel system cleaning,and a replacement cabin air filter. The car has 30k miles on it. I was upset when I got the invoice and asked the associate what they did for my fuel system. I asked if they changed the filter and he tried to tell me there is no such thing. He could not expound on what they actually charged me $133 for. The $36 shop supply fee is just icing on the cake for a scam shop looking to create a new profit center by exploiting their clients. I received an email asking me to review my customer experience via email. I filled it out. The next day, I got a call from their customer service department to tell me they had a signed estimate so they could do nothing for me. First off, I didn't ask them to do anything for me. I'm not trying to score a freebie. I was asked for my opinion and I supplied it. I certainly didn't ask to be contacted at work by someone whose only message was to call me a liar. Fantastic service, I'll make sure I never give my survey a phone number again. The customer "service" representative went out of their way to tell me that since they had a signed estimate for the work that I was not ripped off. I asked to see the estimate and the associate told me they didn't have it. All I have is the invoice that I was presented with after the service was performed. Honestly, I have better things to do than argue with businesses that depend on abusing their customer base to turn a profit - and the last thing I'm going to do is try and seek some sort of compensation for their ills. I have no reason to render an unfavorable opinion of this shop other than what I have stated above as their clearly dishonest practices. I would love to see this estimate I signed. This all being said, I implore those who read this to avoid this shop. The only reason I post this is to help others from falling victim to their shady ways. You could do better at Sears, even though it has a longer wait (which is why I went here to begin with) read more

I was very pleased in the service I received from this Monro location. I went in for an oil change, which was on special for $19.99, and left with just that. I received logical and appropriate suggestions for other services for my car but was not pressured or convinced into anything more than my oil change. Example: you walk in and there is no prices for anything, very unprofessional. I ask what seemed to be the manager for an oil change for synthetic oil (price) and was told 3 different prices . I have been around the block so by asking I would get a good feel , plus I had an 18.00 coupon . So , I final got an answer 85.54 with tax as long as they don't go over 5 quarts of oil. Well I have to tell you I have had about 40 synthetic oil changes I'm my life and never did I go over 5 quarts . Any who when it came time to pay I pulled out my coupon and the manger said owe ok . The final price was 81.37? How I asked when I was quoted 85.54 before going in. He said well that's the discounted price I have to charge you the regular price to use the coupon . You know if it took along time I would of been pissed but it did not. If I owned a business I would be up front with people to get more people to come back. The manger is a nice guy but business practice with no prices is not a good thing. read more

I went to Monroe this evening with 15 minutes left before they close because I found a nail in one of my tires. They said they weren't able to help me because the compressors were off. Not for anything, but this is terrible customer service. You should treat your first customer of the day and your last customer of the day exactly the same. They walked out the door right after me with 5 minutes left of "being open". I will gladly see their competitors within 3 miles of each other if I need anything in the future. read more

I've been taking my cars to Monro for approximately 16 years. I've never had any issues and they have always been up front about what needs to be repaired, and how much it will cost. No shocks and no surprises. The bonus is their efficiency and timeliness. read more

Visited the Monro Muffler shop on Lake Avenue Ext. in Danbury, CT because I was experiencing a slow leak in my right rear tire. My car was put up on the lift and the service person (Ron) called me into the service bay and said "I can't find anything wrong with that tire, but you need a whole set of new tires." I said that there must be a puncture in the tire because I was putting air into it weekly and at MY INSISTENCE we both looked at the tire and sure enough, there was a puncture in the tread. DUH. The tire was wet because it was raining that day and we saw the bubbling where the air was leaking out. I was told that I needed all new tires because they were worn down to the wear bars. "Really" I said, my right front tire had just been replaced a month ago, so why would I need a whole new set of tires?" I could see replacing the punctured tire but ALL of my tires? Ron was clearly annoyed that I wasn't going to jump at the chance to replace ALL of my tires so he gave me a verbal quote of $181/tire and had my car brought out of the shop. HE NEVER PUT AIR IN THAT TIRE WHEN IT WAS CLEARLY UNDER INFLATED BECAUSE HE COULDN'T BE BOTHERED. I was sent away with a dangerously low tire and they couldn't have cared less. Just to test my intuition, I went up the road to the Goodyear Tire shop, and guess what? They found the puncture immediately, noted that my front tires were both fine, and recommended that I replace just the two rear tires. They put air in the low tire, checked all the other tires, and gave me a WRITTEN quote with their findings. Shame on you Monro. Just because a woman walks into your shop, don't just assume we're all car dunces and can't smell a con job from a mile away. I will never go there again and I suggest that anyone out there-especially women-keep driving, and give your business to an honest shop like Goodyear. read more
