Husband and I would never recommend this location. Here is our experience: My husband bought a new truck through Carvana which had a few safety things that needed repair upon arrival and was covered under Carvanas insurance/warranty. We had to use a "Carvana approved" location, with Monro on Brewerton Rd being one of them. My husband drops it off, and we get the phone call of the few things that need to be repaired (things we knew about already) and my husband reminds them that yes that's fine and that it's to go through the insurance company (silver rock). He goes to pick it up and they tell him it will cost $200 and they refused to go through insurance... my husband was pissed, rightfully so, because this was agreed upon at drop off and was supposed to be taken care of. Monro refused to even contact silver rock about the repairs. He paid the $200 and immediately called Carvana to rectify the situation-- it should be noted that Carvana has been very nice to work with and they were going to investigate why one of their "approved locations" was not being compliant with their insurance agreement. It was just a very unprofessional situation and judging from the *many* one star reviews, this is not a place worth bringing your car too. Word of mouth is a big deal... do better, Monro. read more

He is extremely polite and 100 percent honest. I request him everything I need work done. He updates you if something else is wrong and if you want it corrected. A few months ago I brought my vehicle in there for an inspection and tire rotation. I had one tire that was low pressure and realized when I got back in and the tire pressure monitor started working that the same tire was low, which is weird considering they just got rotated. When I got home I looked and there were only fingerprints on the driver side set of rims. I figured whatever, stuff happens maybe they just forgot no big deal. My fiances car needed a tire rotation today so I figured I'd try them again. This time I marked the rims with sharpie under the hubcaps. When I got home I checked and they did not swap the driver side tires at all. All they did was put the back passenger up front and front in back. I came back to ask the store manager why it wasnt done correctly and they just lied and said 2 mechanics worked on it and they both said it was done. Another question here is why does it take 2 mechanics to do a tire rotation. Paul denied me a refund and told me to come talk to David on Wednesday. Just beware of this store, if they lie about a simple tire rotation I can only imagine what else they will lie about! read more

I'm very disappointed to write this review. This used to be a great location where I'd get all of my car services done but I can't be more disappointed to say I will not be coming here anymore. Now, Dave (store manager) is great. But when he's absent, the staff will do everything they can to find something wrong with your car and make sure that you think the unnecessary touch ups need to be fixed ASAP. I came here about 6 months ago for a diagnostic and the manager that day was incredibly rude to everyone in the waiting room. Maybe it was a bad day. About a week ago, I came back for an inspection and the same guy wanted to charge me "hundreds of dollars" on a $20 inspection because my car's "parking break doesn't hold". He also compiled a long list of things that I "may need" like changing one of the bulbs in my lights or changing the AC filters (which I got done 5 months prior) or rotating the wheels (again I did 5 months prior). I even explained to him that I just paid $400 to replace my windshield that was cracked solely for the inspection to pass. I have never had this "break" problem with my car since I've had it. I cancelled the diagnostic, cancelled the inspection that would have inevitably failed, and went to another shop where I know the owner personally. I paid $50 for a failed inspection and incomplete diagnostic and the guy said he was doing me a favor by charging me half the usual diagnostic price. Yeah, ok. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. The shop owner who I know personally did the entire inspection in front of me and said my parking breaks work perfectly, and the bulbs in my lights are not dim. Not to mention the AC filters are literally brand new and my tires did not need to be rotated. I walked away with a passed inspection in less than 30 minutes. I am so displeased with what has happened to this location in the passing years, but I do not recommend coming here. If you ask "will my car survive without this?" the staff will be dishonest. read more

This is a dishonest shop that inflates repair costs and takes advantage of unsuspecting customers. BEWARE. My mother took her car here yesterday for an inspection sticker. The tech there told her that her car failed to pass inspection. He told her that the car had a headlight out (which it did), then proceeded to tell her that she needed a ball joint and alignment. I can understand the headlight, but the ball joint is a non-inspectable item. The alignment would only be needed if she opted to do the ball joint. By the way, I have checked out the ball joint. There's plenty of life left to this part. I've been pushing a wrench for 20 years. I do know what I'm talking about. My mom called to tell me about this - I told her to just take the car home. I explained to her that we could change the headlight so the car would pass inspection. When she came home, you would NOT BELIEVE what they had printed on her service ticket. They told her that it would cost to $128.99 to replace ONE headlight bulb. Mind you, this is on the same ticket that they tell her that it would cost $144.54 to replace the ball joint. I've changed ball joints, I've changed headlight bulbs... These numbers make no sense at all. *Does anyone else think it's suspicious that the item necessary to pass inspection was tagged with a ridiculously inflated price? Hmmm. When she came home, I showed her the headlight bulb socket. My desk-job working, soft-handed, silver-haired, grandmother of a 23-year-old had the old one removed in all of two minutes. I drove to the parts store, bought a two-pack of upgraded bulbs for $35. Both headlight bulbs replaced at a cost of $35 and 20 minutes - *including drive time. She took the car back today for re-inspect. They charged her $10 for their troubles. The car is inspected, and this swindling establishment has been thoroughly examined as well.. Don't go to this place for your inspection. Don't go here at all. read more

They did not have the exact tire but got me on the road with one that would get me home. Long story short when John and Jim ran this store I took all my cars here and never had an issue with trying to be taken advantage of. That being said I believe this store is on their 3rd manager since then and they will do their best to try and rip you off. Now I understand I have the right to decline work and do and did choose to do that however I feel like this place out right lied to me and my wife two times in a row. My first truly horrible experience happened around fall of 2016. The heat in my Nissan Versa stopped working. We took it in and the tech advised us that the control unit was not working and this is what was causing the heat not to work quote was $1,000. At the time it was cold out and my wife was driving this car so we agreed. He then called us back around 30 mins later and advised that it was going to cost $2,000 total. Thank god he got greedy cause a red flag went off and we went back to pick up the car. Turned out it was only the blower motor that was broken. The part cost around $100 and I was able to change it myself all I had to do was take off the glove compartment and pull out the old one with a twist. Needless to say I avoided this place for quite some time for any type of work. Months went by and this past week I started hearing rattling when I hit decent sized bumps. I thought it might be the muffler.(I should have looked underneath) but figured since I needed an oil change that I would go back to this location since I had my muffler done there years ago with Jim and John and I had a lifetime warranty on said muffler. Brought the car in and talked to Ben who was very nice and called me pretty quickly to tell me what was wrong. He advised that my rear coil had snapped and struts needed to be replaced. He advised me that he would call back with a quote as soon as the dealer got back to him. He actually called me back a 2nd time to let me know he was still waiting which I thought was professional. Ben gives me a 3rd call and advised that the the work would cost $1300 roughly. He advised that the parts alone were totally $700 and also advised that I needed to have the car aligned. (Which is not needed for back end work). This didn't make sense to me so I declined. I looked up the parts and total would have been around $300 for parts and around an hour worth of labor. Now I understand that parts get marked up and everyone wants to make a dollar but to lie about how much they cost seemed wrong to me. I ended up going to another shop called Mr.Tire right down the road and advised them of what I went thru. They advised me they would take care of me. They however undercut what Ben tried to charge me but was still out of the ballpark. I will be reviewing them next. Also I want to note that Monro was dead when I took my car in. I ended up getting the work done for $450 which to me was fair considering the parts were around $300 and would take one hour worth of labor. Thank god for YouTube and the internet. read more

I use this service center because of one mechanic, Ralph Reichard. Mr. Reichard is an outstanding mechanic who has multiple certifications in various car repair categories and in the 35 years that I have been having him fix various problems with my vehicles, he has never messed up one job. He is thorough in the way that he works and doesn't cut corners. I know this because I have also serviced my cars when I couldn't have another qualified mechanic do the work. Over these many years, I have felt that beinging my cars to the garages where Mr. Reichard worked was like coming home to "family". He's that good of a mechanic! Because of him I will continue bringing my vehicles (when I am locally in Syracuse) to Mr. Reichard. (I travel a lot out of state, and when I do I already have mechanics in the states where I go.) read more

I took my girlfriends car here to fix a broken windshield wiper arm. They estimated a complete replacement of the wiper motor and arms for $1500! We took it elsewhere and they simply replaced the arm for $45. The guys that work at Monroe were clearing trying to boost sales because the location is struggling. About 6 months ago my girlfriend had her snow tires changed. Aside from the fact that she paid twice as much as she should, they broke a sensor on her tire and was told by the manager (James Morrison) that the sensor was her responsibility to replace due to how frequently they break. We learned today that's not how every other competitor in the area does business. She called him on the phone today and he initially denied the claims then said he would pay for half the part but it was still technically her responsibility. When this was said, she told him that is poor customer service. He then hung up on her. We went into the store 15 minutes later where he denied hanging up on her(But he was upset about how she spoke to him). He told her he would get the part from dealer and cover half the part as previously mentioned. He called her 20 minutes later and confirmed the part would be picked up from the dealer within the hour. We returned about 1 1/2 hrs later where he had a part with no specific logo labeling it, that he claims was from the dealer. We later took this part to another repair shop where they claimed that this part was not purchased from the dealer and it was an after market part. We later checked with the Kia dealer to find that they do not sell this part, so the source of this mystery part is still at large. We also google'd the retail price of the part James sold us to find that it was 69 dollars. As I mentioned before he promised to cover half and we paid 50. We went back to refund this product shortly after (Kia had the part for 75.00, not after market). James, after making us wait 20 minutes, was going have us leave without a receipt for the refund. After requesting the receipt it took another 10 minutes and he continued with excuses as to why things weren't how they seemed. So bottom line... They didn't get done until 3 this afternoon. I made the appointment thinking I wouldn't have to make my boyfriend wait there for 3 hours. This is the only thing that dissatisfied me from coming here again... I will say they do have the $5 off inspection coupon which I did use( awesome if you like to save!) Brought our vehicle there to have them replace the starter and ended up getting an estimate for $1100. They did unauthorized work on the vehicle (alignment and oil change) which have nothing to do with the starter. We stated that they never discussed those repairs with us and they called us liars right to our faces. We will NEVER go there again and do not recommend anyone else going there. read more

Very poor customer service after having all four brakes done. I returned shortly after as there was a grinding noise coming from one wheel and they said that they couldn't look at it until Saturday ( three days later) Lately the times that I did have an oil change done there, even though I made an appointment I had to wait well over an hour for a fifteen minute oil change.
