The shop is a joke, I made a reservation on the phone for an appointment Friday for a car inspection. Went in on Friday and they didn't have my appointment. They told me I'd have to leave my car all day (which I was trying to avoid by making an appointment), so I made a new appointment in person for Saturday morning for an inspection. I went in Saturday morning at my appointment time and the worker tells me they don't have anyone there to do the inspection. Do not get your inspection done here, the inspector on duty is unqualified and will fail you for reasons unknown. The front desk has reasonable customer service and you can expect the service writer to be respectful, however, the inexperienced inspector outweighs the pros in this case. As an ASE certified master technician I can report that my car was in peak condition upon arrival here. I was failed for plate lights and an exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks are checked visually here and are not determined by actual confirmed leakage, as for the plate lights, upon leaving, the plate lights worked with no problems. I am unsure of the quality of this technicians work, but given his lack of attention to detail, I doubt that he's capable of good work. I would avoid this business. They will cheat you, don't let them. read more

Be very very careful of this shop. These guys are unfortunately very dishonest. I brought my car for an oil change and they came out and tried to scare me into doing a bunch of expensive work to the front end of my car. They made it sound like a serious safety issue. My daughter went for a oil change. They deliberately over charged her ($76.83 for a JEEP Wrangler). When I called the manager he told me he would make it up next time. When I wanted it back now. I was told "I don't know how to." Why would I trust them with my car if they can't even run a cash registers ! I called Monro Corp. They were vary nice and agreed and credited me $49.00. It still amazes me how some people think women are uneducated in regards to cars and repairs. I went to get my car inspected today only to find out that Munro does not do car inspections on Thursday. This is regardless of the fact that I made an appointment yesterday for car inspection. OK so fast forward to at the end of the day still have not heard back from them. I call around 3pm after a 9am drop off because he said he was going to call the guy to do the inspection. I was told you need a new tire and the guy never came in so no inspection. Well thanks for letting me know. They gave me a price for two tires $630 I said are you kidding me I got a price from town fair tire with alignment, unlimited repairs, and tire balance for $200 less. The guy tells me to bring proof. I printed out proof and bring it to him, it includes everything that he offered, but $200 less. Then he says I never said that the $200 price per tire was firm, let me work on that for you. I told him you failed to mention that last time and you don't have to work on anything because I'm not coming back. I was also charged $26 to patch a small nail in my car, which I have never paid at small mechanics, chains, and a jeep dealer. This disgrace of a business has lost any chance of ever getting a penny from me. Over the past hour, my girlfriend has found herself in their lot stranded after getting a flat on the adjacent street. A simple fix for most repair shops, especially for a stranded young girl in a city. For this junk shop? "Not before tomorrow." Like a slap in the face, she turned around and rightfully embarrassed them by having AAA come and repair it in their lot. Perhaps it would be a bit understandable if they were truly busy. I went here in the past for oil changes on my Chevrolet Tahoe. They were pleasant and efficient in this. They would inform me when other repairs or issues were noticed but never forced me into doing any additional work, other than what I went in for. I had an older truck that I simply kept running until I was able to get a newer vehicle. I didn't want any extra expenses if they were not necessary. These guys at the Warren Monro are great. Every time our family has had a car issue, they've been able to check it out within 24 hours (usually the same day, often within an hour or less even if they're busy). They're always friendly and upbeat, and here's the most impressive thing I've found -- they stand behind their work. The few times we've had problems that recurred to some degree after they've fixed them, they have followed through on their warranties (on everything, including their tires), and the work and service has always been quick. From my experience, really honest staff, and they don't seem like they're trying to bilk you out of every dollar like some other outfits out there. And I'm a hard customer to please, 5 stars for a mechanic means a lot coming from me. read more

This place is a complete scam! Went to Monro for brakes and dropped my car off while waiting for an estimate. They called back and told me it was going to be $1200 for front and back brakes and that they'd show me when I came back. I got a ride over there and the guy came out while smoking a cigar, and told me that my car is unsafe to drive and that the repairs needed to be done ASAP but didn't show me anything he was talking about. Went to a different shop in town and found out that my back breaks were completely fine and paid $235 for rotors and pads in the front. Two years prior, I went here for an inspection and failed for "shocks" and paid for the repairs but I'm now thinking that was probably a scam too. I'll never do business here again. read more

The Monro in Swansea is terrific this place is a scam. We brought our car here once to get the brakes worked on and the work was fine not a problem. Awful and dishonest. My car broke down on July 4th weekend, and these guys were the only place open. They charged me $700 to replace my starter, and the part they put in crapped out in less than a year. When I took it to a real mechanic, his reaction was, "You just got the starter replaced? The worst place to get the car state inspected or repaired. They fail practically everyone to get a repair and squeeze some money out of each and every car that goes through they garage doors. Failed my customer for a ball joint and CV axle boot and 2 bulbs and told him that the car is unsafe to drive and they can do the repair for $680. Had the repair done at our shop . $15 ball joint, $53 CV axle and 2 marker bulbs replaced for $80 labor with our mechanic. $148 total repair bill with parts and labor .so I wonder what they charge for their hourly rate??? Brought the car back for Re Inspection and guess what. Now they tell me that the second CV axle is broken as well. Philip Lotti was the inspector. Very rude individual and knows nothing about auto mechanics. Another words, a $12 in hour lube tech that wants to play a mechanic role and Feel important.There is a reason why Monro has a 1.2 star rating in the whole country. Same experience as some of the others. The workers were extremely rude to my boyfriend, for starters. We took my car in for an inspection. They failed the car saying that it needed the ball joint and u joint replaced. The technician said the ball joint was really bad and could snap at any moment and said he shouldn't even let my boyfriend take the car off the lot...what?! Of course we took the car. We took it to our usually mechanic in town, who had just seen the car 2 months prior. They said they checked the u joints every way they knew how and they were fine. There was some wear on my ball joint, however they had told me about that the 2 months prior and they said it still was minimal wear and that it wouldn't make the car fail inspection. We opted to pay the $55 again to my mechanic to pass the car instead of pay $300 for work that it didn't need!! I'll NEVER go there ever again, and am considering reporting to the AG's office, especially reading similar complaints on here! read more
