We just recently discovered Monroe Bay Oysterette and our first experience there was just fantastic! The food is truly exceptional. EVERY dish is fresh, creative, perfectly cooked and beautifully spiced. You can watch the chef at his craft and it's easy to tell he enjoys every minute in the kitchen. Serious attention to detail. Food is great. Been there DOZENS of times, BUT... went there and all of a sudden they only accepted reservations. Seriously?! Are you kidding me? Went back a few days later, same thing. Done! This is anything but a "reservation" place. Yes, the food is good, but give me a break. If you're going to take reservations, how about making the seating a tad upper scale. And maybe get that poor ventilation taken care of. One thing I can't stand is having to change clothes when I get home after dining in a restaurant. And I know, people will say "then don't eat there". But BEFORE the ridiculous reservation nonsense, we liked the food, so we dealt with it. Oh well... read more

Ordered my first beer 3 minutes before the 2:00 happy hour start, but was not advised of this. Service remained a little spotty. Happy hour food was great. Daughter and I shared hush puppies ($6) and the Smoked Whitefish Crostini ($9). We each had a huge Crabcake Slider ($15 each). Totally worth it. One of the best crabcakes I've ever had. I got raw oysters ($3 ea) with the cape cod and salt grass oyster as well as a hot lobster roll ($28) with Parmesan truffle fries (+$3). Food came out in about 15 mins. Lobster roll was good, very buttery compared to some other restaurants but good. Lobster meat was sweet. Fries were crispy and seasoned good. I preferred the cape cod oyster over the salt grass flavor wise. The inside is quite small, but had a nice local vibe to it. They have QR code on the table in order to place an order as well as pay the bill. Unfortunately a few items were sold out so it limited the menu. Overall a good experience here! Second the service was slow and very slow., third the food order took over 45 minutes and it didn't come out all at once for the whole table so when everything did come out the plates were cold. Spent Mother's Day here and enjoyed everything! Customer service was great and the food was exceptional. We started with the hushpuppies and crab claws. The hushpuppies came out piping hot and were crispy on the outside with soft inside. The crab claws were meaty and dipped in the warm butter, they melted in your mouth. For the entree we had the hot lobster roll. The bread was toasted and full of lobster that was super flavorful. We ended with the key lime pie. It had a great flavor. I would have liked a little more pucker to it but it was still good and we cleaned the plate. Lol! I feel like I've missed out after finding out they've been right in my backyard for 2 years now and Im just finding out about this place. It's a small, quaint spot. I tried a little bit of everything: the crab cake sandwich, peel-and-eat shrimp, fried scallops, hush puppies, crab dip, cold lobster roll, and fish tacos--and every single dish was AMAZING! The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, the flavors were balanced, and you could tell everything was made with care. The crab cake was full of sweet lump crab (not filler!), the scallops were golden and tender, and that lobster roll--chilled, buttery, and just the right amount of seasoning--was perfection. Dinner at MBO My wife and I started with the crab dip. Came out piping hot and was delish. It's a true crab dip...not mixed with cheese or veggies. Also tried the hush puppies which were also tasty. Last but not least were the hot lobster rolls. Loaded with lobster and comes with fries. It was a very satisfactory dinner. We went on a Thursday evening at about 6 PM. The inside is small with only about ten tables. There is outdoor seating facing the parking lot as wall as a small bar with seating for about five people. They take reservations so if you plan on a Friday or Saturday night, best to make a reservation. read more

Found this little gem on instagram out towards Haymarket. Located in a small strip with plenty of parking. Highly recommend a reservation since it is a small restaurant. There is seating inside with a tiny bar area and an outdoor patio. There is a QR code for the menu and you self order and it was easy to use. We started with the warm crab dip with the option of chips or bread. The chips are similar to pita chips, which was a good option since we both ordered sandwiches with fries. The warm lobster roll was so good! Lots of lobster and not drenched in sauce and portion was great for the price ($28). The crab cake sandwich had so much crab and seasoned really well on a nice warm bun ($29). The menu does slightly change frequently but I think their staples are always on the menu. They have a good beer selection too. The waitress came by to check in frequently. On the app, there is also an option to request more water, utensils, etc... instead of looking for a waiter. We opted for dessert down the street at Mr. Swirlies. Looking forward coming back to try some other items on the menu! read more

We've been here twice and really enjoyed the food. It's a small place with some seating outside. You scan a code for the menu and to place your order, servers bring the food, and then you pay in the same ordering app. It's a bit weird to get used to, but it works. Items I've had and enjoyed: raw oysters, hush puppies, snow crab claws, bay scallops, and probably a few others. The food is really good. I asked if Pinot Grigio was on the happy hour list and was toldthat it wasn't but the Sauvignon Blanc was . The food here is AMAZING. Great little place in Haymarket for some of the best, and freshest seafood available at a reasonable price. The crab cakes are a must-try...if you love crab, there is plenty of it on their crab cake sandwich. The vibe is casual and reminds me of the small family restaurants down by the beach. They have Po'boys too that are full of oysters or shrimp depending on your taste. We ate there one night when it was foggy and sat outside and I swear I could smell the salt water. Tried out this new spot for dinner to celebrate a friend. Came in later on Friday so no wait. Smaller space but easy atmosphere with a come as you are vibe which is great. Fresh and delicious looking menu that we easily ordered from Digitally at our phones (but would love if they moved off the QR code) Ordered boom boom shrimp, calamari, lobster roll, scallops on elote and their famous crab cake Sammie. I'll give them grace for being so new as the kitchen was pumping out orders slowly and in an off timing. But when the food arrived it was all delicious. Bright flavors, great portions for the price and felt authentic and true to great seafood. Calamari had a great crunch and seasoning. Lobster roll was the perfect amount of butter with huge chunks of real lobster. They didn't have the elote so they subbed in a bacon jam which I didn't love and wanted better communication for in advance bc it was pork. The crab cake sandwich stole the show and was fat and full of crab which is all people really care about lol! Overall I think when they get the wheel greased this place will excel and become quite the spot to go! I will absolutely be back and can't wait to try more off the menu. read more
