Crab cake

Where are y'all going to go get a lump crab cake from (no filler) in D.C. P.G., or MoCo? I can imagine what y'all are going to say!! So...there a spot in VA that may prevent us from going up to Bmore for lump crab cakes...LET'S see!! . Where I am: @fryesfamouscrabcakeco . Location Reviewed: 44650 Waxpool Rd, Ashburn VA . Items Reviewed: STAMP!! Frye's Famous Wings ($14 for 6 wings with Buffalo sauce). Crispy, a non tangy Buffalo sauce...tasty!! LIKE THAT! Their Phat Fish Sandwich ($12 with wild caught Cod, cheese, & tartar sauce). I not a fan of Cid, but it was crisp, simple, & good!! STAMP!! Their Fried Shrimp ($ with wild caught shrimp). STAMP!! Their Double Goliath Crab Cake Platter ($56.50 with 2 fried 8oz crab cakes, red potato-potato salad, & imitation crab pasta salad). Those cakes...HIT!! No filler, a slightly creamy binder, & all lump American sourced crab meat!! STAMP that pasta salad...it was pretty flavorful with the imitation crab!! The potato salad was just DELICIOUS. . Customer Service: On Point . Parking: Decent. . Recommendations: Get the cakes!! Get the wings! Get the shrimp!! Try the salad!! . Accessibility: It's is wheelchair friendly, & it's differently abled persons friendly. 5 Stars=STAMP 4 1/2 Stars=LIKE THAT 4 Stars=DELICIOUS 3 Stars=DECENT 2 Stars=PASS 1 Star=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Ultimate feast

Update.... This is my fourth visit here as I work myself around their menu. The crabcakes have been consistently good. But this time I got the Frye's Ultimate FEAST (One Crab Cake, 3 Gulf Shrimp, 3 Wings and COD , and 1 Side & Hush Puppies) for $36.00 Frye's Fries Frye Seasoning Subtotal$36.00 Tax$2.16 Tip$3.60 Total$41.76 Shrimp flavorful.....but tough and EXTREMELY SALTY! Wings... so-so...and very salty as well. The cod was just....ok....but I don't know if I'd get it again. It had been about a half hour after picking it up that I had it...so it lacked ANY KIND of crush that you'd expect. Maybe if I ate it right then and there I'd feel different. But 30min after being served...it lacked ANY KIND of flavor. The cab cakes is this places saving grace.....a one trick pony.

A little shop focused on crab cakes and sandwiches in a little strip mall. $21.50 for one, $36.50 for two plus two sides. The cole slaw, potato salad, and hushpuppies are solid. Crabcakes are good, not the most crab I've seen in a crabcake, but still a good ratio. Bathroom signs are funny. Salad is a slow one to make... but done fresh given how little they sell of it? They have tables inside and outside in the plaza.

Soft opening today.... Be patient as they get settled in... came in just after opening and our only hiccup was they forgot to bring in the soup bowls ... guess I'll try the chowder later. So hubby and I both got a crab cake! These are tasty. For our sides we did hush puppies, fries, coleslaw... found the slaw nice and fresh... hush puppies tasty... for me the fries are not a hit... Seating inside as well as some outside tables... to order you do it yourself at the kiosk and the bring the order out to you. Note they only do credit cards... no cash! Only see sodas... don't know if they plan on adding alcohol or not... No frills but super tasty... don't forget to grab crab cakes to go.

WOWWWWWW THIS CRAB CAKE IS INSANELY GOOD. It's expensive ($15 for a crab cake sandwich a la carte) but it's absolutely worth it. There is no filler in this crab cake and the crab is such high quality. Big fan of this spot.

Their delicious crab cakes and sauce game on point if you like sauce like me hehe

Been getting these crab cakes since they were selling them out of their home. Sauce game on point. Lump crab meat, no fillers. My favorite crab cakes in NOVA! The new Ashburn location is a casual picnic style vibe and the space feels very open. Staff is friendly and the interior is bright and upbeat with lots of crab decor. They have a great music playlist too, takes you back a few decades hehe. Been twice and will definitely come back for more bc it's sooo good. Our Favorites: Double Crab Cake Platter PHAT Fish Sandwich (Cod) Wild Caught Fried Shrimp Frye's Famous Wings Their Frye's fries, hush puppies, crab salad, and potato salad were good too. Def recommend the crab salad if you had to choose one side. Vanilla cake was great next time gonna try the chocolate. They also have a clam chowder I want to come back for next time and bring hubby along.

Good food, but strange unwelcoming attitude: I get there at 6:56, more than a half hour before their closing time shown on their door, and yet every chair in the place is put up on tables, and they act as if they're ready to leave.

Came here for lunch with some coworkers. The crab cake platter was phenomenal, full of real crab meat. The hush puppies and fries were also amazing. Next time, I will try the lunch specials which are only $10! Brandon was so kind and overall the customer service was great! I highly recommend!

Hidden in plain sight! This gem served up large platters with dedicated service. Order on the screens and then the kitchen starts preparing your mains so they are freshly cooked and piping hot when you get them. Serving size is generous and they do allow you to do a la carte if you want to pick and choose your options. Crab cakes were full of juicy thick crab meat and little filler. Sauces and old bay are to the side if you want to add to your food. It was busy the entire time we were there with families eating amongst checkered table clothes and many take out orders. Lively with 80s movies playing on the TVs. Worth it for good fresh seafood.

12 full clam strips for $10

I'm going to start with, WE LOVE FRYES!!! their crab cakes, hush puppies, shrimp and crab salad are top tier. however, today I paid $10 for clam strips and got what looked like a leftover handful tossed in the box. I've had kids meals with more food than this. The quality was mediocre at best, but the portion size was the real joke. Seafood prices are high, so I understand, but this felt straight up insulting. Definitely not worth the money. The fried foods that came in the Ultimate Feast were overdone and underwhelming, due to it being overly salty. It may be the location, because I have never had issues at their Manassas location; everything amazing there! The pictures attached show the 12 clam strips for $10. a shame because we live around the corner and I no longer trust this location, nor do I want to travel to Manassas from Ashburn every time. I've put so many friends and family onto FRYES. Hopefully they have better experiences.

Cheap bag ripped with my expensive meal in it
Barbara R.

I came in on a Friday at 6 PM. I did not receive my food until 630. they ran out of crabcakes. I was so furious. I didn't even wanna complain about the cold fries even though I paid almost $60 for a meal. My suggestion during a Friday dinner rush to have more staff. Your food is way too costly to be inconvenienced. The only thing I received was and I'm sorry we got really busy when you should be prepared for a dinner, rush and my bag ripped.

I would recommend a reservation because with rain outside aka the patio being closed, the whole inside was packed. A lot of the seats are super close which feels very European but you can hear most peoples conversations which can be annoying. Our waitress was really sweet and stopped by a bunch. We started with French 75's, hot coffee, and an espresso martini. The drinks were refreshing and quite large for the price. The espresso martini really reminded me of a grown up hot chocolate, I really enjoyed it. I later also got a cucumber vodka martini and it was one of the most refreshing drinks I've ever had - definitely the drink of the summer. For our food we started with the baked brie with fig and garlic and the escargot. The brie was a unique take on baked brie, I loved the way the flavors all melded and the fact the cheese wasn't completely spilling out everywhere. The escargot was soft with a phenomenal crumb/butter mix, the whole things really melded well and melted in your mouth. The bread served with it was nice as well, if only I had a bit more of it. For our mains we were here during brunch so we got the lobster omelet and the French onion soup with the side of fries. The french onion soup was great, a good amount of cheese and onions without being overwhelming. Fries were fantastic and quite large, a big portion for $7. They hooked it up with the amount of lobster. I would definitely come back to try their lunch tasting menu or other brunch items as well!

Cute French style restaurant. We really loved the bouef bourginon and the desserts (profiteroles…read moreand lacherin glace). The short ribs fell apart without a knife bc they were sooo tender and the desserts were expertly crafted. I might go back just for dessert yum!! The Brie appetizer was enjoyable though a little small if splitting. The shrimp cocktail were very traditional. I enjoyed them. My husband loved the homemade baguette although I wonder if it's because the butter was so good; the bread itself was a little hard for me and of course room temp as is typical in France. Kids enjoyed the kids options (though preferred our dishes). Pasta in cream sauce and steak frites were their choices. It was really loud inside particularly when tables in the middle of the room were occupied. Outdoor patio might be pleasant for easier conversation. Also bring a sweater- if you end up under an ac vent, it can be cold.

Nothing exceptional but good quality, good food And a fair amount of steak in mine for $16. I wish I could say the same about the service or lack there of provided by the two young female servers. For starters, they have zero communication skills. They drop things at the table and just stand there without a word. I did not receive the Vietnamese coffee that I ordered until I asked for it nor was I asked whether or not I wanted it with whipped cream - there's was no description on the menu so I wasn't aware it came with whipped cream. When we placed our order we asked for extra cilantro and received no cilantro at all. Once the runner delivered our food no one came over to ask how everything had turned out, if we needed anything else etc. The lack of communication, lack of attention to detail and quite frankly complete lack of personality turned a pleasant afternoon meal into a disappointment. It's a shame because I saw several other things on the menu that I'd like to try but I'm not interested in being in that unpleasant atmosphere again

However, the rest of the meal was a major disappointment. The Egg Fried Rice was bland and not worth ordering. The Crispy Duck: A Major Letdown I usually love Crispy Duck, but they completely messed it up. While the skin was crispy on the outside, the meat was totally raw on the inside. It had an unappealing smell, suggesting it wasn't cooked properly at all. It was served on top of white rice, which offered no flavor or value to the dish, aside from the sweet soy sauce. Verdict Unless you are coming specifically for the Basil Fried Rice, I'd be cautious. Serving undercooked poultry is a serious quality control issue. I won't be rushing back.

It did take a while to order since the waiter was busy with another customer (he was upfront about that). I got a seasonal drink. I don't remember the name but it was thai black tea, apple cider, and ginger beer. It was very good. My husband got a coke. For food, we ordered the vegetable rolls for an app. I ordered the chicken cashew (under "stir fry"), while my husband ordered the crispy duck basil (under "thaitan highlight"). FOOD: -vegetable rolls - these were delightfully crispy and the dipping sauce was balanced -chicken cashew - the cashews were buttery and the chicken was moist. it was a bit spicy. the rice was a little dry -crispy duck basil - the duck was delicious and addictive, but spicy. both entrees were a bit above our spice level but the flavor was really great. we had to wait a while for our check and the waiter only checked on us when we were almost done. this place is close to our house, but unfortunately, there are better places than this. that's not a knock on them, there's just a lot of competition in the area. we would return and ask for less spice.
