Frye's is definitely a good place to go to get an excellent crab cake. I mean, if this is what you're "famous" for, it better be good and it is. The crab cake is not full of breading and filler like a lot of crab cakes, so I was happy with that. I got the "Goliath" crab cake platter, which came with hush puppies and a side, and I paid the extra $2.50 for the seafood salad. The hush puppies were cooked perfectly and were pretty tasty, a little sweet like I prefer them, and also pretty filling. I was a bit disappointed in the seafood salad since the dressing that is used overpowers the taste of the imitation crab, which is what I wanted to taste. I love the sweetness of the crab, but didn't taste it at all. Overall, I was happy with my food but I can't say I will eat here very often as my meal was $42 without including the tip, and for one person and a meal that barely filled a to go box it's a bit much. They're clearly the highlight. That said, everything else we ordered was just okay and didn't really stand out. The shrimp were awful and for $15 it was a complete letdown. They're a bit stingy with the tartar sauce, which is tough when you've got such a great crab cake. Meanwhile, they hand out a ton of their proprietary hot sauce. Soft opening today.... Be patient as they get settled in... came in just after opening and our only hiccup was they forgot to bring in the soup bowls ... guess I'll try the chowder later. So hubby and I both got a crab cake! These are tasty. For our sides we did hush puppies, fries, coleslaw... found the slaw nice and fresh... hush puppies tasty... for me the fries are not a hit... REALLY good crab cake. I wanted to make sure it came with a remoulade but the cake is so well seasoned I didn't even use the sauce! The hush puppies were good too. The potato salad had potential. I don't like potato skins in my potato salad and the chunks of potato were a bit larger so I felt like there was not enough seasoning to the potato because of it. Just a preference thing I suppose. I've had kids meals with more food than this. The quality was mediocre at best, but the portion size was the real joke. Seafood prices are high, so I understand, but this felt straight up insulting. Definitely not worth the money. The fried foods that came in the Ultimate Feast were overdone and underwhelming, due to it being overly salty. It may be the location, because I have never had issues at their Manassas location; everything amazing there! The pictures attached show the 12 clam strips for $10. a shame because we live around the corner and I no longer trust this location, nor do I want to travel to Manassas from Ashburn every time. The corn fritters were great, and the tater tots were perfectly seasoned. Service was fast, considering cooked to order- wait was about 10 minutes, but we noticed quite a few "call ahead" orders that were immediately ready when the person came for pick up.
