I have had five other crowns over the years with other dental practices and never had a problem with those crowns. the crown from Vaughn was very bulky and not smooth. I am saving my money so I can go to another place and get another crown made.

And the masks can only be the result of these assistants being so embarrassed to work here they have to hide their faces. None of them I interacted with seemed happy to be working at this place. My issue isn't with the dentist or their assistants, it's with the administrative portion of this business. I was a new patient and went here in June 2025 to have an upper partial denture made for my missing #10 tooth. I was given a pre treatment estimate. The problem starts here. The staff never checked with or called my insurance company to verify the coverage. They had my insurance card and information yet they didn't take the 5 minutes to verify the coverage. I paid the amount they said I owed only to find my insurance (UHC) did not cover the particular procedure code (D5820) they submitted the claim under. Why did they use a code for an interim partial denture when it is supposed to be permanent? I spent at least a day of my time trying to convince them through phone calls and speaking to a manager and visiting the location and speaking to their people to resubmit the procedure to UHC using code D5211. Vaughn is a Network Provider and is part of the UHC network and did not even bother to do the due diligence of contacting UHC to verify the coverage. Bottom line, is I am not paying them a cent more than what I already paid them for this partial denture. Also, because I paid my UHC deductible when I paid for this partial denture, UHC did not recognize that fact because the entire claim was denied, so when I had what was left of tooth #10 extracted to make way for the partial denture, Vaughn also shows I owe $50 more than what I already paid them for the extraction. You can't make this stuff up.

However, due to the dental work being uncompleted (half-done root canals and giving me temporary cavity filling, then sending me away to deal with an insurance company that was unable to communicate with me what was wrong, they could only say that coverage of the work done by Dr. Jang and her team was lackluster, but I defended Caring Dental again and Again. I kept telling myself that they were good people, they were doing good work- but neither Dr. Jang or her staff communicated with me regarding the "WHY" of why their root canal failed- and i wish they had just told me that they could not do the work- but I had to wait a while until I found a dentist who does consistent scans and was able to point out the work that caring dental did, I then called insurance and asked for confirmation. Fighting systemic infection, facing 3 extractions, (who completes a half root canal?!?!) and the only calls I received after expressing my worry, and trying to work with Caring Dental- it was just about billing and money. I tried to explain many times the issues with Caring Dental and why my insurance doesn't want to pay you- because your office did more harm than good: I hope you have the day you deserve, and finally understand what your patient was trying to say.

It was originally done in 2020, and fell off for the first time in 2021. She told me that she was going to have to charge me to re-cement it. (I don't have insurance) I asked how much. After about 10 min of runaround with her & the billing specialist, I was told the charge would be $150! I told her that I would pay it because I have no choice, but that i thought it was ridiculous that I would have to pay that much money to glue a crown back on. (I had a previous crown on a different tooth that lasted me 15+ years without ever coming off!) At that point, she told me that she was not going to put it back on for me because "I don't trust her work"! So, after spending almost 2 hours there, I had to leave without getting the crown put on, at 3pm. She was aware that I was going to NC tomorrow and there's no way I would be able to get in with any other dentist this late in the day. And she actually looked really pleased with herself for refusing to do the work. It was honestly the most unprofessional experience I have ever had at any dental office. I hadn't been into the office for a long time, for personal reasons. She took several opportunities to point that out to me as well. As if that was the reason my crown (which to my understanding is permanent & should not be coming off multiple times) came off. I have a lot of dental issues. I have spent thousands of dollars at this office & have family members that have spent tens of thousands. I actually talked to Dr. V today about finally putting together a plan to get to the bottom of all my issues. And now I have to find another office. I really loved Dr. Wong, but he is there anymore. The rest of the staff in the office are AMAZING & SO KIND!! The office is beautiful, with all the newest technology. There are so many nice things I can say about the office in general. But after today, I will not be returning. The way that Dr. V handled the entire situation was extremely UNPROFESSIONAL & UNETHICAL. I now have to drive to NC without my fragile tooth unprotected and deal with it when I come back. All because the crown that they did has fallen out twice in less than 5 years, and I told her that I felt taken advantage of for being charged $150 for that!!

I unfortunately have to edit my first review. I originally posted about how trustworthy and kind…read morethis dentist was and that does still stand for my first few visits. Fast forward 8 months, I went back in for another cleaning. The hygienist did great and was personable. Still needing quite a bit of work, I requested to speak with the dentist. Unlike the first time, she almost seemed bothered and rushed through my questions, giving me no real treatment plan other than saying I need an extraction. Upon checking out, I was informed that I had a "large credit from 8 months ago" but they wouldn't give me an exact dollar amount. Needing to get back to work, I let it go and scheduled my appointment for an extraction. Upon receiving the estimated financials for the extraction, I found that they added $300 x-rays for an implant that I never asked for as well as a $156 "evaluation" fee even though they told me the tooth would be evaluated at my cleaning. I called the office to inquire and they said it must have been a mix-up regarding the implant x-rays and the oral surgeon indeed did charge $156 just for looking at the tooth prior to the $750 extraction. I proceeded to ask why my past credit was withheld from me for 8 months as it would have been useful to pay off a credit card I put the treatment on and was incurring interest. They had no answer other than "I don't know." With all of the odd billing problems, I cancelled my appointment for now. Edit: After contact with the office manager, she was kind and did her best to resolve the issue. She thoroughly explained the situation, apologized for the error and promptly issued me a check for the credit including interest. While I believe its important to highlight the problems, I think it is equally as important to highlight the initiative they took to fix them. I do sincerely thank them for doing their best to resolve the issue in a fair manner. At the end of the day, we are all human and make mistakes. I do believe the location has the potential to be great.
