It was a cute venue but the music was very loud! The bartenders are friendly, environment is pretty clean And they check your vaccination card at the front. We celebrated my birthday but the choice of music was very early 2000s so it was ok... not my choice but the crowd definitely seemed to like it! Right smack in the middle of North Beach so be prepared to look for parking for awhile or take public transportation! They have different seating options and tables so that's always a plus! read more

Drinks are hella cheap and that is the main reason why you should go here. Don't make the same mistake I did and order a Long Island because that's full price. You can only order mixed drinks like rum & coke, vodka soda, etc. otherwise you rack up a charge. Go early. I'm not into big crowds so I wanted to leave by like 11. That's also when the DJ started repeating songs. I went outside and they wouldn't let me back in so I had to ask to get my jacket from coat check. Oh, coat check is free btw. I've heard so many good things about this place, and I've had it bookmarked for so long that I finally went last Friday. TLDR: Employee openly sexually harasses women. No more than 5 minutes into our night, my friend and I went downstairs to go to the restroom and check our coats. When I came out to wait for my friend, I was alone with the coat check attendant. He asked me if I wanted to check my coat, and I said "Sure!" and started taking off my jacket (which had been zipped up to my neck). Unprompted, he replied, "Yeah, so you can show off your [expletives] some more." Speechless, I immediately zipped my jacket back up and turned away, but he continued to try to talk to me, even as other people came downstairs. Needless to say, it ruined my night. Disgusting and unacceptable behavior, from an EMPLOYEE no less. Thankfully I ran into the manager on the way out and told him about the incident, and he seemed sympathetic. I'd be happy to update my review if they reach out after the situation is handled... but until then, watch out for the creepy guy with glasses at the coat check, and use the bathroom on the main floor. read more

I came here for a birthday event at the bar, where my friend booked both tables at the end of the bar (where the DJ is). The songs this bar plays are always popping and it was a very lit time!! All the servers were very nice, and they provided everything we asked and paid for. One thing to note is that they did not provide any water until we asked, so make sure to ask for lots of water!! They had crowd control barriers at the front of our tables and a security guard that definitely did his job and made sure uninvited guests didn't come to our tables! Going to the bathrooms was definitely a mission. The dance floor was very packed and it was so insanely hot. read more

For a belated birthday celebration, I learned about the Friday battle of the decades (from Eventbrite) and was looking forward to hearing some oldies. We arrived a little after 6 on May 30, after having taken some ferry rides (it was a nice warm and sunny day). The doorman would not let us in, supposedly because of the "dress code" (which I was not aware of). Both my husband and I were wearing sandals (with straps around the backs of our feet), and he said my husband couldn't go in because of the dress code. I think it was because of our age. Maybe our wind-tousled hair. I was "allowed" in, and looked around, and left. It was almost empty, and the music (not heavy metal) was BLARINGLY loud (which is definitely not a 70's vibe). And I finally checked out the "dress code" -- it prohibits flip flops. Come on now!! We were saved some money, and won't go back again. read more

Monroe was LIT on Halloween! Such a great time, great bar, really good music, and great crowd! I really enjoyed the vibes, the line was a bit long but that is expected since it was Halloween. Charge was $20 for 4 people, and $60 for 4 cocktails. Decent pricing, which is a bonus! I will definitely come back here. read more

Weird bouncer. Did not let my friend in because he didn't like his costume. Bouncer said he needed a costume and then said that they are trying to "maintain an image" HIS EXACT WORDS! My friend was dressed as a New Yorker, with a puffer fur jacket, timberlands, chain and NYC jersey shirt. Then a white guy came along wearing a basic white tee/jeans and was allowed inside. Racially motivated? Seems such. Very hypocritical to say you need a costume to enter Monroe and refuse service to my black friend but then allowed a white guy with no costume at all inside. It's crazy, yet doesn't surprise me since this isn't the first time that Monroe has racially profiled people. If you look at the review down below, you can see a similar post and a photo of a white man with nothing but mouse ears on who was allowed entry. Lmao that's crazy. read more

Went there for my friend's birthday, got a table and bottle service. Staff was really nice! But the crowd was questionable.. lots of people falling over onto our table multiple times or bumping into us even though we were seated at a table. One random person puked on half our party's feet, and the floor around our seats, then just stumbled off into the crowd.. Unfortunately, all of us got sick afterwards. I wonder if there's more they could do to prevent stuff like this from happening? The majority of the night was good, but having our shoes ruined by someone else's puke was terrible. It was probably the worst table experience I've had. read more

This is the second place on this visit that's charging an extra 5% fee so that their employees can have a living wage and health insurance, which absolutely, every employee should have. With the prices they charge, they should already be able to do that, though. I read an article about this fee with many different names and I would rather pay a bit higher of a price and know the employees were taken care of than be surprised by this fee later. Two sandwich breakfasts, a mocha and a danish on top of tax and their healthy sf fee was $63. Steep for the quality we got. Won't be back.

I politely asked if they had the ingredients to make an Aperol Spritz since I noticed several spritz options on the menu. Instead of simply saying no, she rolled her eyes, grabbed a menu, handed it to me roughly, and said, "Order something that's actually on our menu." She then immediately walked away to help other customers and never returned to acknowledge me again. I was genuinely confused by the interaction because I didn't feel my question was unreasonable, especially at a cocktail bar with multiple spritzes listed on the menu. I've never had a bartender respond that way to a simple drink inquiry.... Thankfully, another bartender (she was the Asian one) later noticed I hadn't been helped. She was very friendly, attentive, and made my drink without any issues. Had it not been for her, I likely would have left immediately. Unfortunately, the first bartender's behavior made the atmosphere feel awkward and unwelcoming. I finished my one drink and left shortly afterward because I no longer felt comfortable staying. I understand bars get busy, but basic courtesy goes a long way. The contrast between the two bartenders' service was striking. I hope management takes customer service seriously because no guest should feel dismissed or mocked for asking a simple question about a drink.
