I sent my shoes for cleaning the stain because the restaurant spilled sauce on my new shoes, so they were pretty new besides the sauce stains. When I went to pick up, the stains were still there, I felt nothing changed, they absolutely didn't put their effort, the soles were not touched at all. But it's ok because I went for stains, they didn't see those stains. She tried to clean the stains in front of me when I went to pick up and pointed out for her. She used the white color paint to cover those stains, and I need to wipe the paint off myself in front of her. She charged me $35, I was going to ask for refund if I pay the bill myself. DO NOT GO THERE!!! They don't deserve the price!! read more

not an honest business woman. i brought my purse here for repairs to bottom faux leather which had completely peeled. when given back the purse i see the leather was not replaced and fabric was just painted black, i told her this is not what i was expecting and know this will just peel the same but she insisted it wouldn't & so i paid and left. upon further inspection when i got home the comers were already peeling! i called back and explained to her i didn't want the purse painted & thought i was getting the leather replaced, she then told me that leather replacement is much more that was i payed & she didn't tell me about doing that bc she assumed i wouldn't pay it! i pointed out to her that instead of explaining to me my options she went along & did a fake fix that she knew wouldn't last just so that she could take my money but she didn't see anything wrong with that. very disappointed with this work & interaction. i love to support the small businesses in my community but will never give a woman like this my money again. read more

I will start off by saying, if I could leave them a 0 star I would! This is my first time repairing shoes and I, like many of you went through many reviews to find this one. I hope that this would put some kind of direction for someone else that is looking for shoe repair! I had a pair of suede flats that I had not worn before but have had them for 3 years and the glue must of came loose. I dropped these shoes off for repair and picked it up 1-2 weeks later. The right foot seems a little tighter than usual but I figured since they had to add more glue to it, maybe it was normal... I decided to put them on and wore it out to my car. I drove 5 minutes and went into a store. As soon as I walked into the store, the left shoe split.... I turned back to this store and they took the shoe back but no apologies. I picked up my shoes a week later and again wore them out to my car and within 30 minutes, the left side opened up like a crocodile. I was done with it... I am very disappointed in the place and do not recommend this place to even anyone. Wearing a pair of shoes and having it split when you are out, is not very cool.... I somehow scuffed and had a chunk of leather torn out of my shoes the first day i wore them... I figured I'd try a shoe repair place nearby before losing all hope and I was pleasantly surprised. I can't believe they look this good again! You can't even tell where the chunk of leather was missing from the shoes. It only cost me $18 and was ready in 3 days. This review is based on a one time experience. I brought two pairs of shoes and one pair of boots here based on reviews below. The boots needed new soles and cleaning and came out fine. One pair of shoes needed refresh and were ok...but the polish was uneven. The other pair of shoes WAS a dual toned wing toe. One shoe had faded and I wanted them dyed to match each other. Apparently they misunderstood "choose one to match" and made both an ugly single tone brown. It wasn't dyed, it was heavily brushed cream. I refused this and asked them to redo it. Assuming the two tone nature of the shoe was forever lost, I agreed they dye it a lighter tone of brown. Attached are the finished result (32$) vs what it should have looked like. I don't recommend bringing technical shoe dying work here. read more

Wow! I love shoes and boots are my special favourite! I was in The Army and as a result of the work outs and great deal of running that I did I have runners calves. Most boots will not fit over my upper calf area. I have bought many boys over the years because I just had to have them and hoped I would be able to force them to fit my legs. Needless to say this idea sucked and did not work. So I set out tho find an "Old World" shoe craftsman (this is someone with a lineage of export craftsman throughout their family line and the skills were passed on to them)! MONROVIA SHOE REPAIR had an " Old World Craftsman" who's particular speciality is shoes, purses, and other leather goods though his skills are not limited tho leather products by any means. But if you want the best leather is the way to go! I take all of my boots and shoes too them and no matter how complicated it difficult the task I am always impressed and doubly pleased with my beautifully crafted new product that I can actually wear now comfortably! hours are not accurate, call before you go. went there 2xs and it was closed. despite the signs saying that they closed later. 27.95 for repairs listed below. needed my pumps repaired - buff out scuff marks, scratches, and repair the heel tip. 1st return, shoe wasnt ready, 1 week later. 2nd return, my whole shoe was painted, you can see the paint strokes, had to come back because she needed time to remove the paint 3rd return, picked up my heel came back 2 days later because the tips bented in after wearing it for 30 mins (nearly tripped and fell) 4th return, 1.5 weeks later, it looks better, but let's see if it holds up. The tips held up for one full day, but I can see it's already starting to bent again. Took it to my original shop and it's already better. Ruined purse. I wish I could give no stars. I brought in my $375 Italian purse that my husband gave me as a wedding gift 2.5 years ago. I asked her to clean it and polish the leather. She took my suede Olive purse and COVERED IT IN BLACK SHOE POLISH. Then told me it was a black purse when I brought it in. No. I have pictures of it from before because I was proud of it and now it is destroyed. She said she didn't rip it so it's not damaged. Hell no. It is definitely damaged. She said she would fix it so I gave her a chance. She tried to remove the color and told me it was just the way it was when I brought it in. I call baloney on that. See the pictures I am posting. My new dog chewed on the heel of a relatively expensive, little worn pair of boots. They were leather wrapped heels and I was skeptical that Zed (Zare? Not sure, the woman who runs the shop) would be able to match the leather exactly and was prepared to have both heels replaced with black stacked wood heels. But she totally killed it and honestly at first I couldn't tell which one had been replaced. It was expensive yes, $65 for one heel, but since it matches perfectly and now I can wear my boots, it was totally worth it. read more

The lady never called me and when I called back to check on it she was extremely rude and she said she had more customers to deal with and she didn't have time for my brother's backpack. I have been going to Monrovia shoe repair for many years now. Zare has always been super friendly and works extremely fast to expertly repair my leather shoes, bags, suitcases and even replaces batteries in watches and makes my spare keys. I recently brought in an old tired dirty beige leather bag that was one of my favorites, and couldn't find a way to clean it, so I never wore it. Zare suggested I dye it and had an array of colors to choose from. After I chose a darker color and a few short days later (and a really reasonable price) I feel like I have a brand new bag that I love wearing again. He did an exceptional job! My Justin ropers were in desperate need of attention, so i took my beat up, old boots in to Monrovia Shoe Repair for heel, sole, and leather repairing. As soon as i walked in the store, i was treated with a good welcome and quick, to the point description of what could be done to fix up my boots. He gave me a wide choice of repair and touch up options for a reasonable price and set a good day to pick them up. When they were ready, he gave me a call and said that they were good to go on the day we agreed upon. When i walked in the store to pick them up, i was astonished at the quality of the repairs. The boots looked better than the day i got them (Which really needed some skill to get them to look like that). My first time trying out this shoe repair was definitely disappointing. I'm giving 2 stars because I did like the work done on some old Vans I brought in. However-Honesty is the issue here. When I first dropped off the shoes, I asked a couple times about price. I agreed upon $20 for cleaning and painting the sole of the shoes. I thought this was a great deal and after chatting and looking a purse I was also thinking of buying, the store owner gave me the tiny ticket to bring on pick up. When I arrived today to pick them up, she tells me $45! As I explained how I agreed to the price on drop off she then said she could give me a $5 discount, I was very upset. She did write the price of 45 on her part of the ticket and on the corner of my little piece of ticket but the day I dropped off the shoes I had not noticed this as we were chatting. This is obviously not a place of integrity and will not be visiting again :( read more

Men's Ferragamo soles wore out. Two pairs. Priced repairs in Pasadena/San Gabriel. Quoted $80 per pair. Bought the shoes at Nordstrom Rack for $150!!!! Lived in Monrovia a few years back and remembered Monrovia Shoe Repair. He charged me a lttle over half the price that others quoted. Workmanship was EXCELLENT. One week wait to pick up finished shoes. Owner was a bit passionate about his repair skills and chatty (criticism in prior post) but my point of view is that he was explaining technique/procedure/and selling me on his quality of work. And, as mentioned before, A GREAT PRICE. Believe me, I spent some time shopping around. Why pay double and hand over your goods to a mush-mouth counter worker?? Most importantly, craftsmanship was beyond my expectations. Leather tops were perfectly buffed and shoe is comfortable, not stiff. Monrovia s a short drive from Pas/San Gabriel area. Easy to find- right across from the Pubic Library before Foothill. Shop is in the Old Downtown area. It's a small store. Typical knick-knacky hole-in-the -wall place. Street front parking or plentiful public parking on the side-streets. I also paid for extra car/home keys and he repaired the latch on my Cartier (China Town version) wristwatch. I ruined a pair of all black Steve Madden suede pumps that I wore only once and I searched everywhere to get them repaired! I went to the Arcadia shoe repair off 1st street and he sent me away saying he couldn't fix my shoes! I took them to Zarri at Monrovia shoe repair and he cleaned them for me without a problem! I met store owner Mr. Zahir (Armani an) he was very pleasant and told me what need to be done and show me the materials explained about it and asked me to pick the items for my heel replacement. Price was reasonable and he asked me when I would like to pickup. We agreed on the date and time. My shoes were ready. He polished and it looks like new. He did an excellent repair job to my satisfaction. I am a one very happy customer and I will highly recommend him for the repair. They were able to save my very expensive black leather shoes for a very reasonable price!! My shoes have a zipper in the back which rubbed on the back of my ankle. OUCH!!! They were able to sew (not glue) a very high quality leather to the back of the zipper so no more blisters!! Such nice people, great service & great workmanship. Doesn't get any better!!
