This place is amazing. I have no idea he I've never heard about it but I'm so glad my love introduced me! The Thai teas are so good! I always drink mine way too fast! Papaya salad was okay, I'm used to a spicier thicker sauce but it was fresh and tasty. The yellow curry (I got chicken) is on point, robust flavor and is even better as left overs so don't be worried if you cannot finish it! The Pik Pow was suggested by the waitstaff and I am grateful! An amazing flavor explosion! Some decent heat and the textures of the veggies took it over the top (I got beef pik pow). Lastly the Pad Thai... I'm a lover of Pad Thai and have been on a journey to find my favorite Pad Thai spot. Monsoon Siam has become that place for me! I am in love .. Go there now! I'm sorry, but when I get a piece of a chicken claw in my entree, it screams the opposite of "quality." I ordered this as an Uber eats, and when it arrived (w/o utensils) the food, chicken Pad Thai, was dry and rather unflavorful--if you look at the picture, all you can see is noodles mixed with light flavoring. The chicken was also a very scant portion size (Thank God?). I actually ended up ordering a different uber eats meal (orange chicken) to satisfy my palate/appetite. read more

It was pretty easy to find with street parking. The kitchen is on the right hand aide upon entering. Seated immediately; ordered beef drunken noodles and tofu Penang curry. Both dishes arrived quickly but it was chicken with bamboo shoots. Allergic to bamboo and told the waiter about this. Initially he said he'd cook a side of beef but I can't eat the rest due to the bamboo shoots. So I ended up getting a new one. The quantity is definitely small and it was too spicy even when I asked for no green chilies. The Penang curry was too sweet. Very busy restaurant but they are on top of their game! Love the food and employee here (my brother works here). Jua is very welcoming and I think he loves his job! He engages with the customers (even if they're family dining in) and treats them like everyday people and not just customers. Food comes out much faster than most restaurants and they're that busy too! I love the beef salad and the one with pork and egg dish. Both are very good and enjoyed a lot. I'll definitely keep coming back! Oh! And parking is limited on the front but you can also park in the back (as I usually do) much more parking spaces. Do I recommend this restaurant? YES TO THE YES I DO! The Thai tea is very good also. :) read more

The soup I got was so nasty I have had tum yum before but this was just oily and has nothing but a few onions and mushrooms. I will never try that place again. It was so spicy I could not even Eat it. I eat very spicy food like 5 star papaya salad. The flavor was so off setting. So it's a no for me. The people I'm sure are very nice. I ordered the soup 6.00 on door dash so it was a total of about 15.00 for it. I'm very disappointed. read more

Just visiting Madison on a Business Trip and decided to hit up Monsoon Siam. 3 Words, Glad I Did! Extremely Friendly and Courteous Service, Generous Portions and Delicious Thai Food. The food is undeniably outstanding here. Period. They understand what vegan means and they deliver with excellence. CIGAR ROLLS - for $4 you get 3 skinnier-than-a-cigar curry puffs in a roll. They are delicious (but they could throw in an extra roll for what it cost). FRESH ROLLS - were just that... fresh. Made with lettuce, avocado, and carrots and served with a tasty peanut sauce. KAO PAD KAPOW - aka Basil fried rice. I order with tofu at spice level 5. The tofu is very firm, not spongey, which is just the way I like it. The spice level is good, but not spicy. It's the perfect sweet & spicy balance. I will 100% order this dish every single time. SPICY ROASTED TOFU BASIL - I had never before tried this dish, but I was an instant fan. Ordered at spice level 5, it was delicious. Despite the name of the dish, I think the protein was some sort of seitan. Whatever the case, it's an amazing dish, served with fresh broccoli, carrots, cabbage, onions, jalapeños, and of course, basil. Yum! DRUNKEN NOODLE - ordered extra spicy, no meat, added broccoli. Very flavorful. Even the Hot Ginger Tea was extraordinary, and for only $2! Service was always great. The restaurant was clean, and there was plenty of free parking in the parking lot behind the building. The next time I'm in WI, this will be my first stop! read more

Pretty good. The Andaman noodles (wide rice noodles stir-fried with mussels, shrimp, squid, and a scallop in yellow curry sauce) was quite delicious, and they let me add Chinese broccoli to it. The spring rolls were just ok though - four small fried rolls with cabbage and maybe a sliver of carrot in it. I mean, crunchy fried stuff is generally tasty, but I've had spring rolls that have wowed me before, and these definitely did not. If I come back, I'd opt to get takeout, because the tables in the restaurant are pretty close together, making everything feel cramped. Almost every seat feels like it's in the way - right at the front door, right by the kitchen door, pressed up against the bar, or in the way of the path to the restrooms and the rear entrance. read more

We had a great dinner with the family last night! The food was all so beautifully presented and delicious. My wife had the Train fried rice which was a huge serving of fried rice with an omelette draped over it and some chopped fried chicken on the side. It was enormous. We could have shared it. I had the drunken noodles which were very good. Spicy! Two of our party loved their curries. Another had the Monsoon fried rice which was beautifully presented in a carved out pineapple and was covered with giant prawns. Our son had the Crying Tiger, which was good but not nearly as much food as the other entrees. FYI. Overall a great meal! Highly recommended! read more

The chicken satay is dry. The pad Thai was ok. The yellow curry was good, but the sad news is that I got horrible food poisoning from this meal. Not worth it at all. So extremely painful and horrific. Will never eat here again. read more

We've been here once before, we liked it a lot. Our first time there we got to sit out back which is very nice. It's in the middle of the Atwood/willy street neighborhood, my favorite neighborhood in Madison. Very chill area, hipster type neighborhood with many options for dining and drinking. We got the veggie spring rolls while we attended Atwood fest. They were hot and had the perfect amount of crispy crunch! I would definitely recommend going here! read more

Monsoon Siam has been our default east side Thai restaurant since we moved out of range of Sa Bai Thong on the west side and it's remarkably delicious though with their own areas of excellence over our old standby. Appetizer wise: Mrs. T swears by the cigar rolls -- they are crispy and have a balance of seasoning that make them a great start to the meal. I'm not sure if Monsoon Siam makes their own sweet and sour but if they don't they get it from somewhere that tastes house made and that's good enough for us. The one drawback is they don't always travel well if you're getting delivery (it depends on how long the driver takes to get to you). The chicken satay are exactly what you want when you order satay: tender and delicious with a good peanut sauce. As far as entrees: They've got some of the best fried rice in the Madison area along with solid entries in the standard range of Thai curries. I tend to order their chicken or pork fried rice (Kao Pad) despite my love of Pad See Eaw because, IMHO, Monsoon Siam knocks it out of the park (though don't get me wrong -- their Pad See Eaw is very good). Mrs. T usually gets their yellow curry (called Ka Ree at other restaurants) and absolutely loves it. We've also tried their Massaman curry and it's a close second for those looking for rich Thai flavors without sinus-melting spices. We often tack on an order of pineapple fried rice to share (with the promise of leftovers) as it is an excellent intersection of yellow curry and fried rice along with enough of its own flavor coming from the sweetness from the pineapple and the cashew crunch. I'll add that many restaurants tend to overcook their meat leaving it stringy, a frequent pitfall of eating out: I'm happy to say that Monsoon Siam has been beautifully tender every time. read more

Tonight was my husband and my first time here, I ordered the fresh rolls with incredible peanut sauce! I also had the Ton Ka soup with veggies, mushrooms and chicken. I didn't know it but this was the perfect meal for a cold night! i don't eat red meat, pork or shrimp but I still felt there were plenty of options for me. My husband had the Crying Tiger entree and really enjoyed it, the rice was seriously sticky! The sauce was spicy and had a layer of pepper flakes on top, overall we were impressed and look forward to going back to try cocktails and different entrees. read more

Visited Monsoon Siam with my girlfriend for a weekend dinner. The venue is quite small, but feels homey and is clean. The staff were all very polite and were in good spirits. The menu had a lot of various noodle and soup dishes that all had varying heat levels. I ended up ordering the Drunken Noodles which was rated 3 in "spice level". I love spicy foods and can happily say that the spice was actually SPICY. The dishes tasted authentic and very well-seasoned. While the dishes were tasty, they were a bit on the pricier end..around $15 average per dish (some dishes had more volume of food than others). Overall, definitely a nice place to check out to get authentic food! read more

Tried Monsoon Siam for the first time today! My husband and I enjoyed both of the items we had. Both were more than adequate servings. My only caution is some of their offerings are SPICY. We liked the spice, but wished we would have realized how spicy it was going to be prior to ordering. We would have asked them to tone it down a bit. Overall, we still enjoyed our meal. We have only ordered in from this place but it is sooo good. The Pad See Euw is definitely worth a try. This is our go-to for Thai food cravings. You can order from here on Uber eats. They're pretty fast. Food always arrives hot and fresh. They deliver in those little plastic Tupperware containers that don't leak which is definitely a plus they know how to pack for takeout which is important for foods with a lot of sauce Beef pad see euw, my beloved! P.S. If you want it spicy you have to specify that! read more

Monsoon Siam is some of the best Thai food I've had in the area. We tried it it on a late Sunday afternoon and walked right in. I had heard their drunken noodles were the bomb and they were! Wide noodles in a delicious sauce with lots of meat and vegetables. We also tried a combination platter that gave us a chance to try a number of different dishes. All were delicious. My friend had a Thai beer and I tried a black milk bobba tea that was very good. I'd recommend Monsoon Siam to anyone wanting great sit down or takeout Thai. read more

3.5 stars. I really wanted to like this place better, but ended up having a just a regular experience here. Came here on a weekday evening after several months of wanting to try this place. Ordered a tofu drunken noodle and a garee seafood. The tofu drunken noodle was delicious, one of the better dishes. Prices were very fair, but portion size reflected that and I was left wanting more. I would not hesitate to order this again. The rice here was very dry and made our garee seafood more disappointing. We did not enjoy this dish very much, as the consistency was very chunky and grainy. The curry part seemed really heavy and overpowered the dish in general. Overall, decent place for Thai food but nothing that blew me out of the water. read more

We had a hankering for some Asian food and checked Yelp and saw that this place on Atwood had good ratings so we gave it a try. We grabbed a seat at their tiny bar since it was too cold for an empty tables near the door. I noticed that had Zombies on the menu for just $6 so I ordered one. It was good but kind of weak for a Zombie. Later on I talked to the guy in charge who had been serving us and who had made the drink. - He said his name sounded like Jewel, anyway he asked me about the Zombie and I told him it was weak. He said next time he'd make it much stronger - that is what I wanted to hear! Oh right, food. We ordered the fresh spring rolls - their version was different than what we were used to - more like a salad in a roll. I didn't care for it but my wife did. For her main she got the Ginger tofu and liked it a lot. I ordered the Volcano, a special, which was a lightly battered (tempura?) fried chicken with broccoli with an excellent sweet chili sauce - just a tad of heat. Very good. We will come back so I can get that Zombie. Right on. Right on. read more

The food was good but the service was great. Waiters always checked in to make sure everything was fine. The Thai tray was unique but there seems to be a lot of flavor missing from each dish. The beef salad and Pad Kra Pow made up for the missing flavors. read more

Came here on Sunday for lunch to try there full menu vs lunch menu during week. Overall the food is fantastic. I had the yellow curry with shrimp. The curry itself was super creamy and was a flavor explosion. My husband got a noodle dish-I forget which one but he finished his plate so fast. Our friend got the braised beef noodles. Everyone was very jealous. The beef was perfectly cooked and the broth was rich and flavorful. Everyone that went was very impressed and I have a feeling this may become one of our go to restaurants. They also had some specials that looked very good as well. I will be back to try more menu items. read more

"Does this sauce make me look fat? What if I put the shallots on?" - Drunken Noodle When it's wet and cold outside (not that, that ever happens in Madison), you end up craving spicy, greasy Asian food but still not super greasy, just greasy enough. You scramble through your food apps looking desperately for some nice stir fry and end up here. Drunken noodles and cigar rolls are ordered and come within 20-30 minutes to you. The food was hot, it was spicy, it was fresh with orders and addendums followed to the T. The noodles not too thick, the veg a little lacking but hey that's not what you get takeout for... Overall a good enough experience to explore more the next time. Until then. read more

Good: Had the Kao Pad Ka Pow with chicken. OMG! Very flavorful and spicy. Not enough spice to burn your tongue off but enough to give you some heat and keep shoveling food in your mouth. Came with a salad and an egg roll the was so crispy and airy that you'll never want to have one from any other place. And all for $8! Bad: The waiter wasn't very attentive during my meal. So I came for my Birthday with a group of friends. Pro Tip: They take reservations! I enjoyed my experience. Service was great. Food: Get the Cigar Rolls. I want to try the other appetizers when I come back. I got the Andaman Noodles (Seafood) and I added Tofu. SO GOOD. It's stir fried wide rice noodles with onions, scallions, and seafood in a curry sauce. I asked for a 3 star spice and will be getting a 4 or 5 star for spice because I didn't taste anything spicy at 3 stars. Must be a midwest rating for spice. Ha! Friends got other noodles, curries, and the pork belly. They all raved about the food! I can't wait to try everything else on their menu! Service: Attentive. Great. Loved it. Space: On a monday night it was almost full! I wonder how it is on the weekends. There is patio seating in the back and in the front. So I think it would be great for any individual or group. We initially wanted to go to Ha Long Bay but came here instead because it's still closed due to an accident a few months ago. I never thought we would find a Thai restaurant in Madison that we liked more than Ha Long Bay, but we've done it! Monsoon was absolutely delicious! We started our meal with spring rolls and chicken satay. Both were great and served with the appropriate sauces. We also had Thai iced tea, which is a special brew served with sweetened condensed milk that ends up tasting kind of like chocolate milk. Theirs is great. I had Kao Soi for a main dish, which is a yellow coconut milk curry with egg noodles and fried egg noodles on top. My husband had Massaman curry with chicken, which we've had lots of other places before. This dish was a little sweeter than usual, with a more luxurious mouthfeel. As a side note, you know this place must be incredible because a Madison food tour came in while we were there! Give it a try, you won't be sorry!! read more

We were excited to try this place to get a little Asian food fix on! We did take out. Service was good, food was available when expected, and hot. We ordered the pad thai with shrimp and chicken. We ordered the extra sauce and I'm glad we did, otherwise it may have been a little dry, and comes in handy if you are warming it up as left overs. Had good flavor. We also wanted something different so we ordered the green curry. Well, let me tell ya, it was flavorful, fresh..and spicy hot. However there was a sweetness to it that we loved so we found ourselves not wanting to stop but then with each bite we were Ike..whoa that's hot! Lol. The disappointing item was the mango sticky rice. We chose this place because they had it as a menu item. I was completely underwhelmed. It was one very small scoop of rice with half the mango. It looked so small and lonely in the bowl The bite I had was so good it left me wanting more. We'll be back! read more

Very delicious food and quick delivery. Food was hot and spring rolls were still crispy. Drunken noodles were outstanding; probably the best dish in the whole order. Pad Thai was on par with other Thai resturants around Madison. Spring rolls and cigar rolls were tasty. Only 3 cigar rolls for the price was not worth it though, would just order extra spring rolls next time. Husband got the Ka Pow, he also said it was super good but as others mentioned, his portion was pretty small. I would stick to noodles dishes IMO. They give the option of 5 spice levels. We choose medium spicy and it was pretty intense and we like spicy food. Next time I'd get mild. Will definitely order again and visit restaurant in the future read more
