Tried three different types of pizza -margarita, buffalo chicken and bbq chicken all were delicious. Also had a sausage and pepper calzone made perfectly. The fried dough melted in your mouth. Creepy as fuck. Sad actually. At the bar is a bunch of 60 year old plus regulars. I come in for a few beers as a local minding my own business and i am constantly bombarded with hammered old people who obviously cant handle thier alcohol and were probably banned elsewhere in the area for thier shitty behavior. They touch me, talk to me and get all upset when i tell them i am minding my own business and would just like to be left alone. Tonight was no different, i had to make a scene and tell the old lady to stop touching me and just to leave me alone as i was not interested in what she had to say about nothing. She just wouldnt stop and let up. Uggh. Sadly nobody, not even the bartender intervened as it it was obvious this old drunk lady was a regular. Whatever. It makes it very hard to want to come here for a drink and or meal if this is the kind if clientele that is allowed to stay and or being in fear of running into this nonsense each time I want to come. I came to dinner here with a bunch of people. This is an Italian restaurant. They serve Italian food including pizza. We were seated by Denise. We were immediately served with pizza bread. Yum. Our table ordered a couple of appetizers . Their baked clams were really good but the best was these hot Italian peppers smothered in a delicious sauce. If you go, order the pappardelle with mushrooms and sausage. Delicious! Also enjoyed was spaghetti in a white clam sauce, pizza with mushrooms, artichoke hearts, meatballs and sausage, spaghetti and meatballs, pasta Bologna's and chicken. All was delicious, and the portions are huge. I also want to mention that while we there, they received a phone call asking for a table for 30 people. Montano Brothers in Merrick has a Monday special $ 16.95 for ANY pasta dish on the menu plus a salad & a dessert. A friend & I went Monday. I looked at the menu & as I love seafood I asked the server , who asked a gentleman at the front of the kitchen if this pasta dish was included in the special. I was told yes so I ordered it. Our dinner came before the salad. The surprise came with the check. They added an extra charge for the seafood dinner. When I questioned this I was told the seafood was expensive & they had to charge extra. After some discussion they did remove the extra charge. My friend & I each had a drink-- soda for me & an ice tea for her. They charged $ 6 for each Justifying it by saying we could have refills. I will never go back again even though the food was good. This is a review for the Merrick location. What do you call a panini made with pita bread? A pitanini? Well that's what we ended up with. Maybe they ran out of bread? Anyway the sandwich was a mess. The bread soaked up the sauce and the "panini" fell apart. The meatball hero made with traditional Italian bread was good. Decided on a the first snowy night of the season to try new eats with a good local friend and try Freeport's Montana Brother's. She opted for fried Chicken Cutlet Capricosa which came with a side of pasta and salad. It looked great, but too much for me size wise. So I opted to order one of their pasta dishes. The Baked Manicotti, since we were pairing it with red wine thought it would be filling enough. Although I have to say I thought it would be a touch bigger/more. It was basically just two Manicotti stuffed with ricotta, swimming in plenty if their Mariana and loosely covered with mozzarella cheese. The cheese really wasnt over the two Manicotti, but more so bunched towards top of dish. Who knows maybe is shifted, accidentally, but made it hunked there to be cut through and added to your bite. Nevertheless it did taste alright, nothing crazy, very mild/standard. No real spice/flavor jumping out trying to win the palate. The portion was good for me I suppose since I didn't want anything too big, but for the value of dish I think they could have easily made it at least 3 Manicotti. I think I will try them again, but maybe go for one of their Pizzette's to see if that's where they really excel. read more

Decided to come here for a late dinner with my daughter after a long ceremony. We were pretty much starved. As it was late and not much selections were available. I wanted a fresh hot pizza. I wavered back and forth as I did not want to leave to try elsewhere. However, here's an example of how great customer service goes a long way!! The owner offered to make us fresh personal pies as he would agree it was late. That was music to my ears. I would have settled for plain but I decided on the Honey Mustard Pizza and she opted for the Pepperoni when he informed us we had options. Both Pizzas were delicious. It was actually was a lot of pizza for two people. So on the plus side I have lunch for work. Overall the location is clean. The staff presented with smiles and knowledge of the menu. We started ordering from there right before they moved to the adjacent street a few years ago and have continued to use them as our go to place thru the pandemic. We also order from them on major holidays as my mom and sister, who lice in Queens, are fans, too! I have ventured out to restaurants maybe 5 times since last March. Two of those times were to Montana Brothers. During the summer, they transformed the back into a socially-distances wonderland. During winter, high table separators kept everyone else's germs far away from our table. I felt safe both times. I was out enjoying the afternoon with my grandson after playing miniature golf when we happened upon this little tucked away spot (right next to Ralph's Italian Ice). The crust was thin, the cheese and sauce a perfect marriage. There are two small round tables that combined seats 4 right in front and ample parking. We were lucky enough to get a seat. Everything about this place is bad . My famiy had a dinner gethering there 4/13/2024 . We were in a outside tent that was extremely overcrowded . They just crammed in as many tables as possible . They had heat lamps and the place was either a sauna or a icebox and we could never find a worker to adjust it . The service was incredibly slow and the wait staff were very unfriendly . Thankfully the portions were small because the meal was very bland and tasteless . Not one of our group liked the food . When we got out bill we noticed we got hit with a extra charge for about $150.00 that we didnt expect . We were told there is a $15.00 per person charge for the band . Are they serious ? We were not told about this when we made the reservation , we spoke to another group and they also were not told either . It was explained that the hidden charge is at the bottom of the menu . So after making reservations, traveling there , ordering drinks you get a charge at the bottom of menu that nobody would really notice and if they did its too late . Had their vodka grandma slice for the first time. Never have had that anywhere so can't compare but I'll be back for that. Was surprisingly garlicky which lucky for me I love garlic! The garlic knots were actually better than I remember (I think they use more garlic powder here some places uses more minced fresh garlic) both kinds are good as long as the flavor comes through. We also really like their linguini with white clam sauce but sometimes that pasta needs a little more sauce so we just ask for it to be extra saucy when ordering. This place is usually good, but we ordered dinner tonight and we paid over 50$ for 2 dinners and we just couldn't and wouldnt eat it. We asked specifically for the pasta separate with red sauce and they put the pasta inside both entrees. It was both francese style dishes. So they were to add mozzarella cheese to both, they did, but like a pinch. Totally dry pasta with undercooked shrimp with no flavor. But the worst part was that when we called the manager knew it was all wrong. We never offered any credit or apology I did call back again to give them one more chance to redeem and they put me on hold for 12minutes. I hung up the phone. I have been here before for 1 of their salads or a pizza slice and for years, even when they were across the street at the old location. However last night at Montana's was a bit awkward. I attended an outside graduation dinner party last night. The staff and management were discombobulated and disorganized right from the beginning. It also didn't help that they hired new staff/servers who were still inexperienced. They also were not prepared when the party i was with arrived and thought they were coming an hour later. The silverware was inattentive. I kept asking to put spoons in the plates that were supposed to go in the middle of the table. They also gave small dinner plates and forgot to give regular size plates to most of the customers. They were clearly having an off night. These are all issues that are all fixable. Had a really fun time last night at Montana Brothers! Our group sat in the table service area, but this spot also functions as a counter service pizza joint. Service was great, and the restaurant had a nice casual atmosphere with dimly lit lights, a large bar area, super friendly staff, and open mic night- a Wednesday treat. Food was yummy! I really enjoyed the Eggplant Rollatini. The eggplant was perfectly cooked, covered in a delicious red sauce, and topped with some ooey gooey mozzarella. The Red Sangria is tasty and strong, and gets the job done. My favorite appetizer I tried was the Vodka Sauce Nachos. I had never seen anything like that before! The sauce was really good, but I do wish it had homemade chips instead of the distinct taste of Tostitos. I didn't want to lower my stars but I'm going to have to do so. Recently went there and ordered my usual Rigatoni Florentina and it was so BLAND! It was as though the regular chef is not preparing it and took all the garlic out of it leaving it absolutely flavorless!!!! This is the 3rd time that I've been there (went in January, February and recently now in March) and after all the years of enjoying going, sadly I don't think I'll go back. I'm going to try their Merrick location because maybe that's where the original chef is. But if it tastes anything like my last 3 encounters, I will have to say goodbye to Montana Brother's.
