I've been to another locations and it was quite satisfying. So I brought my friends to here, but unfortunately this location was very disappointing... We ordered their 30 year anniversary celebration menu that comes with ribs, bbq chicken, and burnt brisket end. Plus my friend ordered another plate that is with chicken tender, pulled pork, and burger patties. Ribs were so dry and the burnt brisket end was not edible (I understand it's supposed to be a bit burnt, but this one was almost charcoal and no meat - it was literally a piece of carcinogen) So we all talked about cancer throughout the dinner. Everything was so tasteless and even portion was not enough. The server upgraded our ribs to 6 even without mentioning the price. So we found it out the extra charge later when the bill came. By the way, the server was so rude and micro-aggressive the whole time. One time she smiled was when she gave us machine to tip her. I felt so bad to my friend for brining them to this place to waste of money. So I ended up paying for my friends' bill too. Interior and vibe is exactly the same as other locations. So if you like Montana's, consider visiting another one. (By the way, if you see high ratings on Google map, they give out coupons in exchange of Google review. I visited the Newmarket Montana's (17450 Yonge St) with my mom and had one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had at this chain. We ordered spinach dip, two Cokes, and two medium-well steaks. When the steaks arrived, it turned out that one of them was clearly undercooked. I have a photo of the two steaks side by side - one is properly cooked (pinkish-brown as you would expect for medium-well), while the other is visibly red in the centre, closer to medium or even medium-rare. Both were ordered the same way: medium well. In a large chain like Montana's, I expect basic consistency and the ability to trust the kitchen to cook steaks correctly. What made the situation much worse was how it was handled. When our server finally came back to ask how things were, I showed him the photo and explained the problem. He took a picture to show the manager/kitchen manager. I was expecting them to own the mistake - at the very least comp the steak that was cooked incorrectly, or offer a meaningful gesture to make up for ruining the meal. Instead, I was told they would give me 25% off that one steak. On a ~$28 steak, that worked out to about $7 off - not even the price of the appetizer, and basically the price of our two Cokes. I later found out that the manager apparently suggested only 10% off the steak, and the server told me he "negotiated" it up to 25% because I was polite and didn't yell or swear. Hearing that was honestly insulting. It felt like my respectful approach actually resulted in the minimum possible gesture, rather than a real attempt to make things right. I ended up switching plates with my mom because I was embarrassed that her steak was undercooked, and I rushed through the red steak myself, which later gave me a stomachache. The entire evening was overshadowed by poor execution in the kitchen and a shockingly dismissive response from management. I've been to other Montana's locations before and generally trusted the brand, but this first visit to the Newmarket location was mismanaged from start to finish - from a server who kept disappearing when we needed him, to an undercooked steak, and finally a token discount that felt more like an insult than an apology. I'll be attaching the photo of the two steaks side by side so that anyone reading this can see exactly what "medium well" looked like at this location on the night of my visit. I truly hope corporate takes a serious look at the training and guest recovery standards at this restaurant, because what happened here is far below what I expect from Montana's. read more

The excuse was the kitchen was backed up They would not even sit us when we asked the server we were advised that was the rule. In this economy customers service needs to be somewhat acceptable. I have never had ribs this tough and dry--ever. I thought that an "All -you-can-eat-ribs" night would result in a fresh, succulent treat, due to volume alone, but no. The first batch of ribs were cremated. I was willing to give this a chance, so I fought down most of the first serving, expecting the refill would be better. I gave up halfway through the second batch.. I cook ribs frequently, but I don't think I could get them this dry if I tried. This might be a chain, but the food is actually generally pretty good. The fries in the poutine were good - crispy & savoury, with pepper so there was some kick. The cheese curds were OK in portion & quality. The gravy was good. The wings were good - nice & crispy & sauced judiciously (neither too much nor too little sauce). Texas Bold was not bold but a rather generic BBQ sauce, though it was still tasty. The cornbread was pretty good: tasty & moist. The coleslaw, while crisp & fresh, had a forgettable flavour. The dressing was pretty milky though there was not much of it. The ribs - supposedly their signature item - were ok. They were a bit dry but had a subtle smoked flavour. Apple Butter was a nice change from the usual BBQ sauces. They only offer one dessert item: donuts. Luckily, they're great: fresh, light & crispy, served with icing sugar & toffee. The toffee was milder than most toffees, so it.complement the donuts well. The food was very well packed for takeout - this kept the food separate & distinct, with no mixing of flavours. Brown beans, they were bad, as in I'm not sure they were ok to eat, & I sent them back, waitress brought me coleslaw, & omg, how can coleslaw be completely tasteless. This place will give u the runs We got there Sunday around 1 and we get seated within 4 mins. We go sit down get our drinks I ask our waiter about Sunday special he says there is none ... as I point to the fajita all you can eat. He says oh well ya that one I guess if you want it Lol ok Than we had free app. The app fine just fried pita and spinach dipping woohoo. And we ordered the big smoke sampler ( whatever it's called ) and I wish I would of took a picture because now I'm on the toilet writing this and my stomach is hurting. Would you believe they tried serve a Cobb salad with no egg?! I didn't feel like making a big deal about it so mentioned it to server as we were leaving and she starts laughing saying the chef didn't forget but they don't have any eggs in the restaurant. It just was such a bland salad to begin with - do not order it! So all I'm saying here is DON'T expect your meal to blow you away! In fact, don't even expect your order to arrive as described!! We have given up on Montana's. It used to be our go to for an affordable date night or family birthday however I don't think we will be returning unless I hear good things again. Our last visit was so awful we were given 40$ in certificates to use. We won't be going back even with the coupons :/ our order wasn't entered, when we finally got it it was overcooked. They took both meals away and brought them back 20 minutes later. My husbands food was now overdone. By now we've been there 1.5 hours. For subpar food and a server who wouldn't even acknowledge the mistake or apologize. The pulled pork was a pile of soggy mushy fatty pork, the brisket was wet and soggy and the ribs tasted like they cooked on a dirty burned grill. Last night my girlfriend and I were very hungry so we decided to get Nachos. For my order, I had the pulled pork nachos which didn't taste that great and my girlfriend got meatless nachos with extra guac. One of the main issues that we had was the guac was literally frozen and it honestly felt like I was drinking water mixed with guac instead of the normal guac itself. Another reason why I was really upset was because we had asked to put extra cheese on our chips but it turned out to be barely any on them. For the service, the waiter never came up to our table to check if I food was okay. She actually never came to ask us but another waiter eventually helped us out. In the end, we eventually paid for extra guac and extra cheese and left a small tip. if you're ever going to Montana's (Newmarket) don't ever get their nachos because it was horrific. The worst ribs I have ever eaten. I can't believe they're this bad, I've been to many of Montana's in my life and this is by far the worst one I have ever been to. The ribs were over cooked and hardly had any meat on them. What meat was there was as hard as a rock. Now what am I going to have for dinner? A few years ago I went to Montana in Newmarket and was pretty unimpressed. Overall I don't have a great love for these franchises. I thought I would give it a try on a Friday night. I've been on a low carb diet for the past few months so eating put has become a bit of challenge. I was surprised to see how busy Montana was last night. I ordered a sirloin steak and asked for broccoli on the side with little optimism. I was pleasantly surprised. Let me preface this review, with the fact that I write more positive reviews than negative ones. Unfortunately today's experience at the Newmarket Montana's was beyond disappointing and ruined our family's Mothers Day. We were seated at a table nearly immediately upon entering and our orders were taken quickly. After 45-50 minutes, our meals had still not come. Although other diners that had arrived 20 minutes after us were already receiving their meals. It took almost 20 additional minutes before we saw our waitress again. She informed us that our meals were just coming up. Our meals finally came 85-90 minutes after we initially ordered them. Receiving the meals was not a relief when we saw how poorly prepared almost every items was. The medium rare steak was a tiny overdone crispy puck. It and the waffle fries were not even warm (room temperature at best). The burger was overdone, dry and cold with the bun actually heavily charred on top and soggy on the bottom, the ribs and shrimp combo was cold, the beef brisket sandwich was cold and dry. The kids grilled cheese was cold and soggy. The manager was called over, and he had excuses ready for us before we even told him our complaint. He claimed that the kitchen had lost our orders to explain the delay. Obviously this was a lie, as we doubt that the waitress would have remembered the order after an hour had passed. And the cold state of the food clearly shows that the plates had been sitting out for a long time without being delivered. The best he could offer was that we could get fresh food remade in 15-20 minutes (yet still have to pay the full bill). As the whole fiasco had already soured us, putting a damper on our Mother's Day outing, we declined the offer and left. None of us had taken more than a single bite out of any of our meals. Got a table.....waited for about 10 minutes before a waitress came over.....and just as I was about to give her the drink order she announced that the restaurant was out of ribs.....I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE STARTED WITH "WE WERE THERE FOR THE ADVERTISED ALL YOU CAN EAT RIBS" ... the waitress proceeded to tell us that the group of 10 that was sitting beside us have all ordered the all you can eat ribs and that as a result they were out. UNREAL....how can a chain restaurant that is actively advertises something like "all you can eat" be out so early in the evening.... So i went today with a bunch of co-workers and we come often to celebrate birthdays and things like that. Today we were celebrating a promotion for me. I chose Montana's because it's close and quick. ugh. Won't be back! Other locations are great but this one is brutal. I ordered the Canadian burger no bacon and a Cesar salad no bacon. I have had that burger a million times. The salad had no dressing and the burger was dry and gross. I told the server about my salad and he brought me dressing. He should have brought me a new salad. Then i tried the burger. YUCK! So i sent the whole meal back. I asked if i could just have antijitos but they take 13mins. well my co-workers were more than half way done their meals. So the server brought out a sald with bacon. sent that back too. then a salad no bacon. i ate my sad little salad then i went to starbucks and bought a lunch that i am eating at my desk. My husband and I had a gift card and decided to try Montana's Newmarket after approx 3 years of swerving it. Let me explain. Our last 2 visits we experienced a plastic piece in a dessert to which the managers comment was - oh its just out of the dessert packaging so it's not been on the floor or anything. (So it's OK to choke to death on clean plastic?) and ordering a steak dinner for 2 (not cheap) and they forgot the extra sides we ordered. So we tried again. I have to say the food was very good. The service was very good. The end of the evening was the most atrocious customer service ever and it took some digesting what just happened. Starters we shared potato skins and kapow shrimp. Both were excellent and I would recommend. We ordered the same entree of jambalaya with rice and it was delicious. Again I would recommend. However when we got the bill, we were musing over it (while our waitress walked past us) and we're wondering about why we had $15 discounted. Somewhere in the region of 5-10 minutes later the waitress came back and apologised that she had given us a discount that should have been applied to the next table. And took away our $64.80 bill and replaced it with a new one of $81.85. I was not very happy and had I been with a friend would have questioned it complete with attitude. My husband being a typical Canadian did not want to fuss and much to my disgrace actually tipped. Of course knowing they have a survey I let that ride and will definitely "tell us how we did today" This spoilt a good evening. My son is a restaurant manager at another place (we were tied with the gift card to go to Cara group) and he said that was a bad move. Also only a manager can discount, so the blame for that is with the manager. Rachael who served us was dressed differently so I did wonder if she was a manager? Either way I felt their integrity was not sufficient. When we spent what we did they will not suffer for their mistake. There's not a no stars option. It took 15 min alone to get drinks and was given 4oz glass of wine instead of 8oz. The glass was wet like someone had already had a drink. Another 20 min I got my food that was overcooked/reheated and had massive amounts of salt poured into it. The portion size for corn bread and sides was ridiculously small. The service overall was terrible and slow, food horrible and management completely unconcerned. Couldn't care less. We went to the Montana Steakhouse with the hope to get a steak close to what they advertise on TV ,for around $15 bucks When we ordered we were told that this is not available so we ordered a steak meal for $21.00 . What a disappointment The meat was almost uneatable the baked potato must have been sitting for at least an hour and then tossed into the Micro W O The rest of the meal was just as terrible After complaining to the waitress ( Not friendly at all) we were given ribs which looked terrible on the plate but at least tasted OK To have water served in a jar was not some think I liked much Would we return to Montana?
