    peach bellini
    Jason M.

Hadn't been to Joey's in a wildly long time but my sister-in-law picked it as a change up for her bday back in Feb. I can't speak for all the drinks on the menu, but the peach bellini I had was super tasty (I do wish it was a bigger glass though considering the price). Steak & ravioli bianco: Prolly the best dish of the night. The pasta was paper thin, the sauce was great, the steak was tender and perfect edge-to-edge medium rare. I do question the portion size though (it's listed as a shareable plate but yea.... Idk about that). Truffle parmesan fries: Real parmesan shavings, shoestring-style fries that are uber crispy and the garlic mustard aioli I could drink a quart of that stufff. Yum. Yellowfin tuna salad: The fish was seared nicely but the consensus was that the salad tasted a lil strange. I don't think the components really worked as well together as it sounded on the menu. Herb crushed salmon: Really pretty presentation and the fish was cooked just right! No complaints on this one. Maybe more tomatoes and less peas (but that's a preference thing I guess). Oven roasted wild cod: Also very pretty presentation. The thai curry sauce didn't taste like thai curry though. It was just a flavour packed sauce but I wouldn't call it curry haha. Fish was moist just like the salmon. Steak + sushi: Bro ordered this. The sushi was SURPRISINGLY good LOL. I was expecting for it to be a disaster but the rice was actually vinegar-ed properly and the fish was a good temperature as well. Who would've thought. The steak was a different, leaner cut of beef from the one served with the ravioli bianco though (I think it was sirloin or striploin), so it wasn't as tender and kind of chewy. The ponzu sauce was ok. Didn't really impart much flavour to the steak. Joey classic steak/ribeye: My dad and I ordered steak. Funnily enough, these steaks were definitely lacking exterior sear/char. The meat was cooked well I suppose (we both asked for medium rare). The accompanying garlic butter on top of the steak was a nice touch. So was the peppercorn sauce on the side. I do think the mashes potatoes were the star of the dish LOL. They were soft and gooey on the inside but french fry crispiness on the outside. Service was great throughout the night! Because it was my sis-in-laws bday, the staff brought complimentary brownie bites out for her. That was sweet of them. Overall it was a good meal! Admittedly, we had eaten at Peter's (a steakhouse) a couple weeks back for my bday. At $75 for a ribeye here (and only a 16 oz at that), my steak DID feel underwhelming value-wise, but Joey's doesn't particularly specialize in steak so that's forgivable I guess.

Came to celebrate our anniversary and the Joeys staff was so wonderful! Gave us complimentary drinks and dessert, which was so generous. The food was delicious and the space was perfect for a perfect date night!

This review def needed to be updated! I have been back so many times that I have lost count! First and foremost, service has largely improved! Staff is attentive, stops by often and ensures nothing is missing and everything is topped up. Recently back with the fam to enjoy Steak frites all around and they did not disappoint! Steaks were all grilled and seasoned exceptionally well! Some new items we have tried: Mini Steak French Dips . 2 for $ or 13 4 for $23. Carved New York strip, gruyere cheese, garlic toast,au jus pour - WOW the taste and flavor with this app was amazing! A little on the small side and was a bit surprise at the choice of bread considering the price Japanese Gyoza - $17.50 - pork dumplings served with hot mustard - any server you see walking by from the kitchen is likely to be soon carrying a plate of these to at least a few tables on your visit. Rightfully so, so much flavor. I could easily finish one order of 6 myself. Def recommend Happy Hour! Love the choices on this menu! Great for sharing or enjoying on your own if you don't like to share :) Happy Hour Daily 2:00pm - 5:00pm Sunday - Thursday 9:00pm - Close Friday - Saturday 10:00pm - Close

I'm from the states and come here once a year during the holidays when my wife and I come to visit her family. We enjoy the vibes and tasty food like the chicken parm, spaghetti pomodoro, and blackened chicken. Their appys aren't the greatest but not bad either and we try to make the most of our experience by trying different things. Prices seem to hike up every time we return but that appears to be happening everywhere. Anyway, had another nice experience today and looking forward to next year! Waitress was awesome and checked on us frequently and was spot on with our food modifications and other requests (booster seat, refills, napkins, etc.)!

Recently visited JOEY Markville for a birthday dinner :) The food has much improved since my previous review a few years ago. We were seated at one of the booths near the front of the restaurant; it was not as loud in that area as compared to being further inside the restaurant. The booth was spacious and could easily accommodate 5-6 people. I really enjoyed my Red Sangria and Ahi Tuna Burger. The 'meat' was nice and thick, and you can upgrade your side of fries to sweet potato fries. The appetizers we shared were also delicious, though I didn't realize how SPICY the chicken wings were lol. Overall, it was a great experience! Our server checked on us from time to time and made sure we were doing fine. The restaurant was also able to accommodate cake cutting and providing us with extra plates and utensils as well.

Went here with friends on a Friday night. It was packed, even the parking lot! Ambiance - 4/5: it was quite dark but we were seated close to the kitchen so we had a little more lighting, which helps with reading the menu. The bathroom was spacious and clean. And there are about 6 stalls. Service - 4/5: we had a reservations so they seated us quickly and on time. They gave us time to look at the menu then got our orders for mains and drinks. Different servers checked on us and refilled our drinks. One or my friends got a spanish wine and the bartender opened up the wine in front of us and poured it. He said he waa new but he did a great job! Our bill at the end took a bit because we were splitting a portion of the bill. Food - 4/5: we got a variety of dishes - ravioli bianco, oven roasted wild cod, yellowfin tuna salad, mediterranean bowl steak frite and also the warm Italian donuts. We all got full off of what we ordered. I really enjoyed the mediterranean bowl. The harissa chicken wasn't overly spicy. It was super moist and succulent. The grill marks gave it the charred taste. There were some crunchy bits but not sure where it came from since I couldn't really see the food tuat I ate. I would recommend this bowl. The donuts were so good. They were warm, soft, sugary donuts with a vanilla mascarpone cream underneath the donuts. The menu says there are lemon curds but I didn't taste it. For someone who isn't a dessert person, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My friends got drinks - ceasars, spanish wine and espresso martini. Apparently the ceasars were spicy, even without the rim and the espresso martini lacked alcohol. My friend liked the spanish wine. Overall: 4/5 - it is a pricey menu ($30-65 menu). I would come back for special occasions. Definitely have a reservation.

I've been to Joey Restaurant at different locations several times but this location stands out in my mind for the incredible experience I had. I'm very happy with our server AJ, as what started out with a nice conversation continued with in-depth knowledge of the menu, flavours of individual dishes, and comments on personal picks on the menu. The attention to detail as well was helpful, service was astounding and I really felt cared for the entire night. Since the last three years I have felt customer service overall at any establishment hasn't been great but tonight is the first time I can say I was actually impressed. Hats off to you, I hope you continue to knock it's out of the park! The night couldn't be complete without a flavourful meal. My steak and sushi was savoury and sublime. I also tasted the truffle fries which were an excellent accompaniment. The crème brûlée cheesecake intrigued and delighted me as the perfect finish to the evening. The decor and ambiance is suitable to most modern restaurants with modern style mixed with glass, wood and black paint. There's the louder bar section and the slightly quieter comfortable dining area. I'll be back during the summer to see what else the menu has to offer but to also witness the curious mechanism to open the restaurant patio doors which consists of a wheel attached to a series of gears and chains that stretch above the dining room ceiling.

Great customer service. When my medium rare steak came out at medium well, Tania the server asked the kitchen to make a new plate. It's too bad that it's very noisy despite being Wednesday evening. They also didn't use all the available tables, probably due to insufficient staff. Otherwise we wouldn't need to wait 15 mins to be seated at a table.

My first time to Joey's and it ticked every box. Beautiful interior, nice menu, easy seating. We sat on the bar side and were lucky to have two amazing server-ambassadors taking care of us....Leane and AJ. Their service, attentiveness, enthusiasm (and smiles) made our evening so much fun. The 3 of us at our table were celebrating our birthday and at the end of our evening they brought us 3 cream brûlée cheesecakes with a birthday message. So unexpected and thoughtful. Bottom line: Service 5 stars (thank you Leane & AJ) Food 5 stars Ambiance 5 stars Highly recommend Joey's and we'll all be back.

Overall rating: 3.5/5 (rounded down on Yelp) Came here for a weeknight dinner to catch up with old friends. If you don't like crowds or waiting, weeknights or happy hour seem to be the best time to come. We've been to Joey many times before, including at this location, so we're quite familiar with the menu and typical quality. Overall, our food and its presentation were up to our standards. However, the reason for a lower rating comes from the service and the increased prices (which I understand are related to inflation). Honestly, I don't know if the mains were worth as much as we paid. As well, compared my previous experiences at Joey, service was a bit lacking (though that could have been due to the weekday or just the server we had) in terms of openness & friendliness. Nothing terrible, but also not exceptional. Despite this, I will probably make a return visit because they are great with dietary accommodations, there's a variety of plushy booth & high table seating available, and their crispy mashed potatoes and desserts keep me coming back.

I don't normally come here, but found out they have happy hour from 3-5 during the week. I purchased the Korean cauliflower bites and grilled chicken sandwiches with fries. Everything tasted good no complaints my server was very friendly and gave me recommendations on what to have. The restaurant is clean and well maintained for the most part all the staff were friendly and checked on my table more than a few times.

This place was recommended by a coworker and it did not disappoint. I will say the wait was not the best But we had a larger group and I'm sure if we were a smaller group it would have been quicker. The drinks were awesome and the Joey steak filet was delicious along with the s'more's ice cream dessert. I will be back to try more the next time I'm in town!

    steak and ravioli bianco
    Jerry L.

Not worth the price. Got in to an empty restaurant and was asked if we wanted the high table otherwise it would be a 15 minute wait. Still had to wait 10 minutes. Ordered the steak and ravioli bianco as well as the chicken lettuce wraps. Steak was decently cooked for medium rare and the ravioli was quite flavourful. The portion size was small for its price. The chicken lettuce wraps were a nice crunch and a refreshing addition to the steak and ravioli. However the chicken was way too salty and a tad to sweet for my taste.

Rarely, would you find a place that can pull off being a brunch/lunch place during the mornings and afternoons and a club and lounge by night. On a Saturday morning where I was looking for a place to grab a bite and to kill a bit of time, I realized through Yelp that Sugar Cafe Lounge is actually open by 10am. I didn't even know they open in the mornings prior to this. The vibe of this place strikes me as a modernized Chinese karaoke place. It totally reminds me of the karaoke places that I used to frequent back in the day. They have the same black and neon purple/pink colour scheme. Dice shakers were readily available and visible. The modernisation portion can be attributed to the existence of a photo booth and kildult style cartoon characters wall stickers along the walls/window. And for a "club/lounge", the servers were definitely very polite and attentive which is a stark contrast to the service that you may come to expect in early 2000s karaoke places. My feeling towards the curry katsu egg Benedict is equally complicated. I think the dish has so much potential, but currently has several flaws. Let's start on a positive note. The hollandise sauce was a fit with the curry flavour. The built in acidity also worked to tone down the sauce's heaviness. But even with the acidity, it was a pretty heavy sauce. I like the taste of the sauce, but it's just too too heavy. The egg whites for the Benedict was a bit over cooked and getting on the rubbery side, yet the yolk remained runny. Which I found odd. The katsu pork is a bit on the smallish side and the batter did not seem like the Japanese panko style batter (seemed a bit closer to HK style). The pork was under seasoned, so the taste was hugely reliant on the sauce. They clearly used some form of milk bread for the dish. It's a decently thick slice, and it didn't seem like your typical wonder bread, but the bread also added to the heaviness of the entire dish. I have no clue how the vibe is at night or how busy it gets, but my feeling towards this place is a little bit complicated.

The service was fast and friendly and we greatly appreciated our greeter Bethany and server Gianluca!

The peach Bellini was not tasting like cocktail it tasted more like a peach slush. We went for a girl's night out and we ordered calamari and chicken wings as late night snacks last Saturday. The calamari was tasty, fresh and deep fried with a nice crisp! However, the size of the calamari was quite small. The honey garlic chicken wings were good, but a little too sweet for me. The service was excellent and the waitress went out of her way to serve us. She took lovely pictures for us and even cleaned my camera lens as it was probably dirty. She even got us water and left it on our table when we were on the dancefloor. The manager and supervisor came around and checked on us a few times. In fact all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The DJ played some great music and we had a fun girls night out. We are already planning to come for another girl's night out before Christmas!! The only complaint is, it would be nice if the entrance fees at least for girls changed to cover charge!

Was seated in their dinning hall ( the other side is more of a bar) and ordered a brunch tower for two. The tower includes their signature malaysian scrambled eggs, chorizo sausage, bacon, Brussel sprouts, toast with buttermilk pancakes stacked at top of the tower. The tower was beautifully presented and what I love most about the tower is their pancakes. Truly fluffy and light with whipped cream on top of it. Overall, service was efficient and attentive, often checked on and refilling water. On top of that, the restaurant has great decor and parking is provided in the back of the restaurant. Its considered on a slightly higher end for brunch ($20-30 range), but it was truly an amazing experience. They also have daily promos so worth checking out for dinner and late night deals.

I must say that I do understand why people are drawn to the restaurant - it is very pretty and makes for wonderful pictures! This includes the lovely visuals of the food, which is beautifully presented and extremely photogenic. The taste of the food, although quite acceptable, fell just a bit short of its looks. The variety of colours was not matched with a variety of flavours, and everything was somewhat on the salty and greasy side. That being said, we very much enjoyed the potato hash, pancakes, and French toast. The portion sizes also outdid themselves - if you're coming here for brunch, just be prepared for a long nap in the afternoon! Service was excellent: prompt, helpful, and friendly. The interior is fairly spacious and elegantly decorated. Overall, a pleasant experience even if it's not the most spectacular - and perhaps worth a visit for some based on the aesthetics alone.
